Hey, I have embraced the 21st Century and moved onto those white BBs instead of the yellow 0.12g ones5 points -
Sure, if by 0.2g you mean 0.36g or heavier. Because it's not 1999. I'd even argue that CQB sites with a 0.25g or so limit should test with heavier BBs, because, as above, the assumption that players have any idea what they are doing, or would care if they did, is wildly optimistic. If they're going to load heavy BBs despite being told over and over not to, at least try and ensure that they won't be shooting hot with them. This can all end when fps dinosaurs unconditionally surrender to the Master Metric of Joules. Resistance just prolongs the conflict and costs millions of lives. 👌4 points

What power is the spring? What motor is it? Maybe open it up and check the shimming; if that is ok, reassemble it without the piston, spring and ARL and try running it with the motor. I do wonder whether Shamal has sussed it; it does sound like it could be reversed polarity.2 points -

Importing a RIF in current climate

I have just received a Classic Army MP5A3 from Gunfire.com. Product value:£136.99 Shipping costs:£20.73 Total:£157.72 Plus customs charges of £42.67 Cheaper than buying one in the UK, plus nobody has them in stock anyway. Gunfire has a minimum order value to the UK of £135 for the exact reasons stated above, they've stopped using UPS and moved over to GLS because they're less of a shower of shit. Shipment was prompt, the only real delay was in GLS telling Parcelforce what the customs value was so they could charge me.2 points -

My new Tokyo Marui Scar-L
DJsnipe reacted to TuckyTuckyd for a topic
Here is a picture of my Tokyo Marui Scar-L which I purchased on Friday from Defcon and used on a game day yesterday at Stormforce. Yes it is great, fantastic accuracy (no adjustment to the hopup requied), and good range. The recoil sounds great and the bolt stop function is very useful, as you know when your magazine is empty. I am a very happy chappy.1 point -

Thanks for vid. Yes I had trouble aiming down sights when I tried a lower mesh. It does seem like it could be a winner although he wasn't really sweating More of a gentle perspiration really.Me on the other hand, well I can win hands down against a garden sprinkler!! Lol 😉 Regards1 point

Yeah could be but should be easy to check connector colours going to motor. Its sounding more like it could be a dying or underpowered battery.1 point

Is it possible that the motor may have connections round wrong way and running backwards?1 point

TM Thompson M1A1 - Old & not firing (possible broken tappet plate)
solitaire360 reacted to BigStew for a topic
Maybe £50/60. You are probably looking at a full gear box rebuild at least and I hate to say it but TM Thompson's are over priced you can get a new cyma for 100ish.1 point -
I do have to flag up "Not played yet, want GBBR" as a potential way to see another couple of GBBRs appear in the classifieds. We usually recommend AEG -> gas pistol -> GBBR / HPA in about that order as you start sinking your kids' inheritance into this hobby. Find out if you like it first playing in easy mode before switching to hard mode or buying premium gear.1 point

Welcome Yeah, unfortunately things are quite bad at the moment. Eastern production having been affected by Covid for the last year and a bit, shipping disruptions and Brexit issues importing means that stock is very low everywhere and most European suppliers will not deliver to UK anymore. You can order direct from Eastern retailers but shipping is expensive and long. Same situation on parts. Best option right now is find something you like in a UK retailer and make sure its from a well known make but many parts are also in short supply.1 point

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Rogerborg reacted to Jacob Wright for a topic
Had an absolute top day at Longmoor on Sunday with the boys. It was great to get back to such a fun site, and we managed to get in some sneaky woodland ambushes and building to building fighting. We did feel by mid afternoon that the opposing team were starting to throw the towel in a bit, which was odd because we were fairly outnumbered and I had assumed we would be the ones to get steam rolled 😂 It was the first time two of the guys on my team were having to use mid caps but I think it’s fair to say they enjoyed it!1 point -
Yeah it does have 3rd burst on the ICS SSS.1 point

Worth setting full auto to 2/3rd burst then so you still have the snappiness without it being able to be used wrongly.1 point -

Limits
John_W reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
when a site quotes a limit as "fps" they don't mean raw velocity, they mean velocity (in feet per second) using a 0.2g bb. this is a statement of kinetic energy, but instead of using joules it's using a convoluted unit that mixes metric and imperial and sounds like it's just a velocity measurement to really confuse people. kinda the same way you fill your car with 50 litres of petrol but measure the fuel economy in miles per gallon. we just have to be awkward in this country. so in the case of a 400"fps" limit, 400fps on 0.2g = 1.49J of energy, a 0.4g bb fired with 1.49J of energy will be travelling roughly 282fps fortunately, there are calculators available to help out: https://www.zerooneairsoft.com/airsoft_fps_calculator just because you've said that i reckon we should use obol-barleycorns per microjiffy and yes, apparently the jiffy is actually a measurement of time equal to 1/65,536 of a second.....1 point -
THE TM MWS thread
Ashmanbob69 reacted to scar527 for a topic
Pretty much just the nub if you want to use .3's! Barrel is a nice to have, I mainly got a longer one to increase fps (USA limits). Can't reccomend the SixG brass nub enough. I tested the Laylax strike arm, as well as some concave nubs but the SixG paired with the stock hopup rubber is amazing. I'd have some spare nozzle return springs on hand, or just install an upgraded one to save you the headache ahead of time. Thats really all you need.1 point -

Need suggestion to select good airsoft sniper
Chicken pie reacted to AirSniper for a topic
Questions one person posed to my son who wants to jump right in to sniper role... How long have you been playing airsoft? How many are in your team that you are in? To which his responses showed he lacked both experience in the sport as well as lacking a team. In confidence a long time player and ex military guy said he lacks discipline and showed me footage which I was grateful for as he was confronted both by me and the guy with the evidence as far as some of his game play conduct not being compatible with the objective of the game in play. I'd say give a couple of years before you consider it and save up for the beast you want. As for which one, if you still insist on jumping in immediately, then the advice is to hire site rifles and see how it goes as you may find you spend £500 and wish you had bought other RIF's instead. Seen more than a few adverts for snipers that are hardly used for sale... Think about why that is.1 point -
Need suggestion to select good airsoft sniper
Chicken pie reacted to Impulse for a topic
[Internally screams in HPA VSR build] I will also echo what has already been said, as someone who plays the sniper role all the time; sniping isn't what everyone thinks it is. In truth, it's a lot of doing nothing. It's a lot of lying in stinging nettles. It's a lot of trigger discipline, not taking shots at people either because they're within your MED or you don't have a clear shot and can't risk letting them know you're there. It's a lot of pistol kills. It's a lot of radio chatter. It's a lot of watching a stray leaf or mild breeze knock your shot off course. You can't take gunfights because you will lose to the 13 year old rental with an m4 and a high cap magazine. Every shot you will take has to be at people who don't know where you are, as if they know where you are they can literally dodge your shots at range and suppress you with full auto fire. At the end of the day, we're firing air powered muskets with projectiles that weight less than a gram. Also, depending on your site, a 2.3J bolt action rifle can be more of a hindrance than a help. I've totally moved away from using my 2.3J VSR at my local site at the moment because during the summer it gets super overgrown, so that 30m MED just hinders me with no benefit as there simply aren't long enough sight lines. Sniping is more of a role than a rifle, much like designated marksman is a role, not a rifle, we just use those terms as an easy way to differentiate power limits. I would call my HPA m21 a "sniper rifle" but it's kept at 1.1J like any AEG so I have no MED with it. You can fulfill the "sniper" role with an AEG for the most part, and if you're playing it properly having someone out of range isn't an issue because you just wait for them to take a few steps forward as they should have no idea you're watching them. I will always advise people play the sniper role with their AEG first (hypocritcally because my first RIF was a bolt action rifle) and see if they enjoy it before investing, as it's typically quite expensive. It's a very rewarding way to play, but it's a very different way to play. It's very much not for everyone.1 point -
