  1. Went to UCAP ‘Vendetta’ today , and a bloody good day it was ! was myself , my ‘brother from another mother’ , both my sons AND as a real bonus an airsoft best bud I haven’t seen in over 18mths due to the plague just so happened to be there today as well which certainly made me smile . Combat south where there with a trailer full of ‘shiny things’ , it’s a nice change to see lots of quality products like you find in a proper shop and not the tat you generally find in a site shop ? think there was 60’ish players there so perfect numbers for the site , you had room to move around without tripping over each other and hardly any stalemates due to there being too many players , was single shot all day(favourite of mine)and on the whole game play was excellent and just an all around great experience of the sport which has definitely help me regain a positive attitude towards it . So roll onto next game day .👍

  2. Just got home from another cracking day at Worthing. Took the VSR with its MED to make sure I gave my new sidearms a good pacing and ended up using the MP7 all day, so the HK45 is still untested. The TM MP7 on a lipo is a total beast. Set the hop for .25s on the 45m target and it was hitting it every time, with a great rate of fire and snappy trigger response. Couldn't ask for more from what is essentially a large AEP. Had it in a thigh holster that didn't get in the way, didn't wiggle about and held it nice and secure. Massively happy with that purchase! Had a game where I took a position on a flank. Every time the other team pushed I took them out if there were only 1 or 2 of them, which happened a few times, and when the guy I was with got hit and the enemy team moved past us (after one said "you are dead, right?"), I crawled up to him, dragged him down and mediced him back in, which amused me since he then started shooting them in the back to their surprise. However sometimes they sent large waves of 10 players through and I just held position and stayed still. Wasn't in my full ghillie, just my leafy hood and US woodland camo, and a wave of them moved about 2m in front of me without spotting me. One took cover about a metre to my right, but didn't see me tucked in and then didn't look back. Trigger discipline allowed me to stay alive and then radio in to my friend who was on base defense so he would get some others and just take out the attacking wave. My heart was beating so fast as I watched them all move past my position against the tree in the ditch with my MP7 in hand. This is why I play the sniper role. Not for the long range shots. It's moments like this that make it special. Rest of the day was a lot of concealed overwatch picking people off at long ranges. Leaves are starting to fall from the trees, so sight lines are starting to open up at Worthing.

  3. I started marking my gear with UV pens two years ago. Each RIF has an inconspicuously placed mark that serves to identify it, in case it gets stolen. Touch wood 🪵 I hope it never happens, but this can help speed up detection and recovery. Nevertheless, it’s a shame people prefer to steal instead of going to work to earn a few good quid, especially when there’s such a huge demand for low-skilled workers (stealing doesn’t require any skill). My mate says the company he works for pays £15/hr for picking and they’re short on staff, so may go up soon. It’s the best time to get to work.

    Anzio guns stolen..

Anzio is in Leek which is by Stoke. It’s a shame as I had to use one of their rentals other week when my gun was too hot. It’s a great site

  5. Just like to say thank you to those people who replied to my original post several weeks ago and here is a picture of my Tokyo Marui Scar-L which I purchased on Friday from Defcon and used on a game day yesterday at Stormforce. Yes it is great, fantastic accuracy (no adjustment to the hopup requied), and good range. The recoil sounds great and the bolt stop function is very useful as you know when your magazine is empty.

    Discharging AEP Lipos?

@Rogerborg I understand where you're coming from. I'm no scientist and am not out to prove my opinion to everyone's satisfaction. However, I have seen you in a similar situation having your advice/opinion questioned by someone asking for non-anecdotal evidence of your opinion, when it's clear that you have a lot of experience relating to airsoft and you share your experience to help others. Having learnt much from many of your posts in this forum, I am taking your question as genuine interest rather than taking exception to being asked if I have a control group. So, I'm just sharing my opinion based on experience and bits of information I've picked up over the years. Apart from a general interest, I have 20 years experience in IT and 35 years experience in RC cars, helis, and drones. Also, I did say it's not really a huge consideration when we're talking about £10-£20 airsoft batteries, but it's general advice where lithium batteries are concerned. Whilst I don't have a scientific control group, I have experience of hundreds of laptop owners whose batteries deteriorated in short order and I don't recall a single one that didn't leave their laptop plugged into the mains all the time. This includes my wife; I think I replaced at least 4 batteries in 2 different laptops, before she finally got the message not to leave it plugged in all the time. I haven't had to replace any more laptop batteries at home and my wife still uses my old Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge which I bought soon after launch in 2016, so about 5.5 years on the original battery. Like someone said to you once, this is just anecdotal, but I'll link some references below. Most consumer devices will charge a battery to 100% and the good ones then cut power until it reaches 95%, then top up again. Some will keep the charge at 100%. Neither is great for battery life. Now, overcharging/discharging, fast charging/discharging and high temperatures will do more damage to lithium batteries than just holding a 100% state of charge, but 100% SoC causes degradation, particularly at higher temperatures. I have to add that degradation from maintaining a high SoC does not directly equate to 'splodey nastiness as @Lozart so eloquently puts it 😄, it just degrades the battery. As far as a citations go, I can't find the study I read about battery care in deep space exploration vessels, but I found this NASA document, "Guidelines on Lithium-ion Battery Use in Space Applications" states "The state-of-charge (SOC) and temperature at which the cells are stored or cycled greatly affects the irreversible capacity loss in the cells." https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/10549369.pdf When someone asked Jeff Dahn how they might make their EV battery last 10 years, his response was to charge to 70% normally, and 100% only if needed for long trips. Jeff Dahn is a Professor of Physics and Atmospheric Science, Tesla Industrial Research Chair and as one of the most renowned battery experts in the world. https://insideevs.com/news/334778/tesla-battery-experts-recommendation-for-maximum-battery-life-video/ Beatrice Browning, a PhD researcher at the Faraday Institution, states ". . . leaving a LiB-powered device plugged in overnight is still damaging to the battery’s lifetime . . ." https://airqualitynews.com/2021/01/12/why-do-lithium-ion-batteries-degrade-over-time/ This article from Michigan University recommends "Minimize the amount of time the battery spends at either 100% or 0% charge. Both extremely high and low “states of charge” stress batteries. Consider using a partial charge that restores the battery to 80% SoC, instead of 100%. If that’s not possible, then unplug the device as soon as it reaches 100%" It also claims "Nokia and Sony mention potential damage to their phones if the device is left charging after reaching 100%". https://news.umich.edu/tips-for-extending-the-lifetime-of-lithium-ion-batteries/ This article from the Battery University might not be peer reviewed or detail methodology of testing, but is interesting reading. https://batteryuniversity.com/article/bu-808-how-to-prolong-lithium-based-batteries This article goes into some of the chemistry involved https://www.eyerys.com/articles/40-80-rule-battery-charging-dealing-lithium-based-chemical-problems This article discusses parasitic reactions in lithium batteries and also references Jeff Dahn https://electrek.co/2018/05/04/are-you-killing-your-lithium-batteries/ I hope this helps

  7. Hey all, Been a long while since I last posted on an airsoft forum, but this topic is definitely a new one for me... Trying to find out a bit more information on the AK-74 series of AEG's by LCT, though I've already received some excellent help (thank you!), a little more wouldn't be a bad thing. From all I've read so far, LCT tick the boxes of being solid and well made (though not as 'accurate' as E&L/Real Sword, which is no bother), followed by ease of internal upgrades (V3 gearbox) and with plenty of external options. As well as seeking more general LCT AK advice from existing/previous users, I am looking to find best choices / recommendations for reliable Magazines (plum 74' mid or hi-caps) and low profile scope mount rail options for the likes of EOTech's or a simple reflex. The rail options I've seen include the upper receiver cover (costly, don't need that much RIS), the gas port cover (too-far-forward), the traditional side scope mount (appears too high), and finally the option that eludes me when looking at stores - the low profile mount based around the original sight block area. Oh, and which would be the better choice of silencer for a basic AK-74M .. PBS-1, PBS-4 or DTK Putnik please? Any helpful advice would be very much appreciated, thank you!

  8. if you're buying new, why not go e&l? nicer (subjective admittedly) externals, and more importantly better internals on the platinum line? cyma midcaps for cheap & cheerful, NPO for gucci looks (especially for plum) would be my pick. can't say i rate lct or e&l's mags for performance (weak springs) the lowest profile you're really gonna get is either a top cover or gas block rail with something like a t1 on a low mount. front mount takes a bit of getting used to but it's not so bad, indeed i've heard it suggested it's preferable for snap style shooting. hinged top cover is an issue with zero retention, although how relevant that is for airsoft accuracy standards is up for debate. issue with the sight block rails is the sight block is already tall, comparitively it's similar to a carryhandle mount on an ar platform. mostly the russians don't care so much about bore offset, pretty much all the integrated siderail optics have quite a bit of offset to them. if my aim was low profile, tbh i'd probably just use irons. in terms of aesthetics? whichever you prefer. afaik (citation needed) the pbs-1 is supposed to be only for 7.62/akm pattern guns with the smaller thread as opposed to the pbs4 being for 5.45/ak74 pattern guns with the larger thread. the putnick i'm personally not a fan of, it's like hanging a coke can on the front of your gun, but i suppose if that's your thing then go for it. if it were me i'd go with a standard brake on a full length gun, or a pbs-4 for a krink.

  9. Well, if it aint Infy Damn long time, where have you been ? 😀 Side mount is my normal "go-to" mount. It handles Eotech's/T1's etc with no issue. But i guess its whatever you feel comfy with. And a PBS-1 looks / handles best😎

  11. To a re enactor the SRC is far superior. Prices of airsoft guns can have little to do with how well they actually work. Look at the price of used VP70s, even the Tanio Koba is poor at best, the LS is abysmal.

  12. Day went great, we narrowly lost 3 games then absolutly destroyed the other team in a CQB game. Lots of great play by both sides. Lost a pistol mag but got it back at the end of the day after someone handed it in. And once again the WE based L119 GBBR didn't miss a beat all day 😁

  21. Welcome Aircanman, Unfortunately stock is low everywhere. There are many variants that look similar to the TRX-9 which are under £200 or even £150 so have a look what's available in the UK retailers. Patrolbase is another good place to look. CYMA and JG are good budget manufacturers. SpecnaArms: Some have reported problems but they are generally regarded good value. G&G are popular with some. I have no experience with LancerTactical so maybe someone else can comment. Stay away from Nuprol weapons, batteries, chargers. You can bet any 'special deal' from a shop including battery and charger will be more beneficial to the seller than you. If a gun comes with a battery and charger from the manufacturer then it will be enough to test and play a bit but if its going to be used regularly its always worth buying a good battery or two and decent charger. There are discussions about batteries and chargers on this forum that you can do a quick search to find.

Them feels. The bend that we have to put in them does tend to weaken them. They're 2.8mm spade connectors if you need to ask or order. I'd avoid "fully insulated" ones as they tend to have a hard sleeve that you'll have to remove anyway and replace with heatshrink.

  24. HK gang! Got some new sidearms and going to test them this weekend alongside my VSR. I'd usually use the m21 at this time of year since the site is still heavily overgrown and it has no MED, but want to test these thoroughly so I'll use the gun with an MED. The HK45 goes nicely into my Warrior Assault Systems universal holster, and I bought a thigh holster for the MP7 which works a treat. Don't step on this sniper 😈

  26. Druid - many thanks for your reply and my apologies for not responding sooner. I actually found a frig of sorts by using the velcro rank slides on my flight suit to velcro them in place. Now they're sitting right and staying in place. Will keep the bungee cord idea in mind however in case a rethink ever needed. Ta Eezer

    What have you made?

My first ever leather project. I wanted old fashioned flap holster for my shadow 2 with torch. Couldn't find one so I designed and made it been using it in few games already and is still in one piece. I call that a success

    What have you made?

Does this count as 'making something'? I looked for like a general development/DIY topic but this is the closest. Magnetized the grip rubber because it uses two very long screws which take forever to get out for swapping battery etc. Worked out better than expected. Gonna chop some bolt heads off and glue them to the back so it looks like they're in.
