  1. So what I did here is I dug out two M-ETAL Suppressors, of which I have many as it the type I prefer, that had some really bad scratching after the storage box with them and a lot of other parts in it fell. They were a 190x35mm and a 100x35mm. Using two component epoxy and an aluminium tube from an old vacuum cleaner, I made a crude homemade 290x35mm suppressor for my WE-Tech HK416 DMR. I couldn't find a good way to touch up the scratches so I decided to buy a black suppressor cover - except they were sold out everywhere.... So I made my own. Again. Using black nylon from a broken guitar case, some velcro straps and some general packing foam, I again made a crude homemade version on my mother's old sewing machine.

    THE TM MWS thread

Got too carried away with rapid fire facepalming to actually give my own first hand experience. Used both the Super Nub and HSB in my first MWS, will be doing the same in my second. Only other thing I touch is throwing an NPAS in there as and when it's needed and if I decide to use a BAD lever (which is unlikely because I'm currently planning on doing a carry handle build with this one) I'll use a lightweight bolt stop plate to ensure the bolt continues to lock reliably. Outside of that, don't see a reason to change anything internally.

  5. Its pretty easy to adjust FPS on a GBBR even if there are no after market parts. In terms of options, I have listed some below in order of easiest to hardest. 1. Use weaker gas - no modification required just buy some HFC135A. 2. Fit a shorter/wider barrel. If you are happy to re-crown the barrel yourself (its pretty easy with a Dremel) you can just shorten the inner barrel you have a bit at a time until you get the desired FPS. A shorter inner barrel gives the BB less time to accelerate before the pressure disperses at the end of the barrel hence less FPS. A wider barrel will let more air past the sides of the BB reducing the pressure for a similar effect. Please be aware that cutting a barrel does not result in a linear drop in FPS (cutting an inch off of a 14 inch barrel will have much less reduction in FPS than cutting an inch off of a 6 inch barrel) and once barrels get below about 3 inches accuracy can suffer as the BB may not have time to stabilise in the air flow after the hop has been applied (the exact length at which these weird results will manifest depends on a number of factors such as FPS, weight of the BB, amount of hop, gas volume, but 3 inches is a good rule of thumb at 350 fps). 3. Fit a weaker valve spring. Your can buy loads of different springs on e-bay you just need the same diameter and approximate length and then its just trial and error on the spring strength/tension. A weaker spring allows the valve to close faster directing less gas down the barrel and more into the blowback mechanism. This has the double advantage of dropping the FPS and increasing the bolt cyclic rate, but a faster bolt can increase wear on the working parts. Note you can also cut the valve spring, but I don't recommend it as it is not a long spring with a lot of preload (unlike an AEG gearbox spring) and you still need enough spring tension to hold the valve fully open at the start of the cycle or cycling will become erratic so the scope for adjustment is quite limited. 4. You can made your own DIY NPAS using a small drill and a grub screw (there are several videos on YouTube). This effectively holds the valve partially closed so when gas pressure is applied in doesn't have so far to travel so closes faster (see results above). I hope that helps. C

Externals, mostly. Metal Specna receivers seem to be somewhat flimsy and as far as furniture goes, they don't really offer much (apart from the latest E/C-20+ models and their URG-I rails, which I will buy at some point). Also one good way to cheap out is on motors and gears, this is where even the "top" brands fail, most of the times you're given ferrite motors and anemic gears (apart from E&L because they come with SHS gears and some pretty dank neo 16tpa motors that are comparable to SHS HT ones)

Oh I know, but the usual reason people fit a mosfet to begin with is to protect against contact arcing. I was just trying to make the point that a gun with that many goodies at that price point has cut backs in the package somewhere to make it profitable. Buy a high quality basic gun as a base.

People presenting second hand information with a definitive result just grind my gears. The fella initially asking followed up with 'Will this happen?' and the chap answering literally ignored the question and just said toss it. No reason, no further explanation, no break down of the parts being used alongside the spacer. Nope, the answer to the question will this happen to me wassss... toss it. Superb, I don't know who's more daft of the pair. The one asking the questions and taking the first answer he got at face value, or the clown spouting second hand garbage (the answer is both).

  16. I wouldn't bother upgrading the cyma, maybe I have a lemon but I've had nothing but issues with mine. Swapped cylinder for type0 24mm o ringed nozzle etc. Still only 390fps on an m130 with perfect internal airseals. I believe it's a problem with there hop/bucking. Be aware the cyma platinum Sr won't fit standard m4 hops without some modding as the back of the hop hits on the tappet plate when nozzle is fully forward

  17. You can shorten the inner barrel or purchase one with a wider ID. GBB work on a flute valve system resting on a spring, gas travels through the system and when enough presser is built up, the valve is forced forward redirecting the gas to propel the slide/bolt to the rear. Just like an AEG you can cut or use a softer spring in the nozzle to reduce the muzzle energy. You can use HFC134A (duster gas) to drop the FPS even further but you lose recoil and thus some of the fun factor.

  18. Site Name: Absolute Airsoft Contact details: 01628 474 756 Website Address: https://www.absolute-airsoft.co.uk/ Facebook Page: Absolute Airsoft | Facebook Site Address: Jacksons Lane, RG4 7EE Hello all! @Albiscuit and I trundled to Absolute Airsoft near Reading. One that has been put off for a while due to the long distance from our respective hovels. It's barely in the South East. I had heard mixed to negative things about the site ahead of time. Allegedly run by/affiliated with Special Airsoft Supplies who have been accused of as scammers and even have a Facebook group dedicated to warning people against buying from them. Someone also got shot and lost his eye in the safe zone back in 2016. We popped along on 16/06/2021. It was destined to be a very hot day at 27 degrees which turned out to be an overstatement. Luckily it was a little cooler at 21 degrees. Absolute Airsoft is a Medium sized Woodland site. (Claims to be 150 Acres, but Apoc in Kent is 200 acres and is by far much larger). For the most part it is flat but with a significant hill used in the first couple of games. There are 5 distinct areas that were used on the day, the aforementioned hill, a typical medium height foliage area with an under-construction oversized shed, an open clearing with battlements, a low grassland/fern area with a Kill-house plonked in the middle of it and lastly a small village area near some classic woodland. There was a mix of short/medium/long distance engagements. Good: Value: Good value at ยฃ25 for the day including a free hot dog or pizza for lunch. Turn around time: Very good. To the point that I was struggling to get loaded up after taking a breather to get back out for the next game. They do push you to play. Safety Brief: Covered everything. Took it seriously. Told people to shut it if they talked over it. Little in the way of gallows humour. Marshalling: There were enough marshals to cover for the day. I found they were hands off (In a good way). Encouraging, but didn't have to intervene that much. There were two incidences of injuries due to trips and falls and the marshals were right on it. Calling ceasefires and getting the injured out of the way. Shop: Quite a bit on offer, Lots of Rifles in Cabin. Didn't take a close look myself. Al picked up some BBs of somewhat questionable looking quality, they seemed to work ok though. Safe Zone Safety: Very on point and laudable. I imagine due to the incident in the safe zone in times past, they have to stick with what they do. They insist on Barrel socks on everything whilst in the safe zone (Which they sell in the shop for ยฃ3 a time, sadly they don't advertise the need for a barrel sock on the website so we were a bit out of pocket on the day) If you have no barrel sock or cant use one (Wont fit on one of my rifles) then they have to be left in the game zone. There are rigorous checks of mags out whilst coming back into safe zone. Pistols have to be either holstered or racked back and on safety on whilst out of holster. Very good to see. Average: Playing Area: It was "Good", there were five distinct zones as already described. The Kill-house and village area were quite fun, if somewhat unremarkable. It is refreshing to see a massive open area... However I felt that the areas used were just a little too open, very little medium/tall cover to hide behind. Little opportunity to flank as the marshals insisted on narrow game areas or when it was more wide open they used areas where you would be seen sneaking up fairly easily. Considering there was a high turnout of over 100 players, I would have preferred a larger game zone in play. Safe Zone: Safe zone was perfectly fine. Lots of the seating under cover, it was quite cramped for the over 100 in attendance and it was incredibly difficult to socially distance. Picnic tables were quite small and suited two to a table with any comfort. Car park was right next to Safe zone. Hit taking: I didn't experience any massively bad hit taking bar the usual one or two questionable individuals. I did hear a lot of grumbling from people on my team though. Car Park/Entrance: Dirt/Gravel Car Park right off a long mostly unmarked road. The only sign leading to Absolute is the one at the entrance of the Car Park. Follow your Sat-Nav and you'll find it. Its a big enough car park for even the 100 or so players. Toilets: Two/Three Porta-loos. I went to the loo at the end of the day, didn't smell that bad considering. Clientele: Very young clientele, lots of casual players and rentals. Interspersed with grizzled veterans. Did the usual chat with some new players. I was a bit disappointed in some of the players smoking under the shelters in the safe zone despite being told more then once not to. The smell was quite overbearing at times. Food: Al and I asked for Cheese and Tomato Pizza rather then Hot Dog on the ticket purchase, Al being Veggie and I don't eat pork. However the receipt stated that we had chosen Hot Dog. We explained to the marshal when we got there, yet there were no spare pizzas. Though it turned out the Hot Dogs were Chicken so I had Al's as well. The hot dog was perfectly OK. I felt sorry for Al though. Bad: Chrono: Despite all of the attention devoted to safety, checking for mags out, barrels socks on everything etc. There was no Chrono testing AT ALL. No testing at the beginning of the day, no Chrono setup so we could self test during the day and I didn't see anyone get tested on the field. Pretty sure there were a few people running hot on the day too. Why go to all the effort of putting in all these safety measures, but at least not make a token effort of testing for joules? Disappointing. Conclusion: So this was an odd one in some ways. The Playing area is... Fine, I believe it could be used better and it didn't feel like 150 acres. Despite the many positives and almost no Negatives, we didn't get much of a good feeling from the site. We found the day either somewhat boring or frustrating to play. "Meh" being the operative word for it. A Local site for local people. Does nothing different to many other woodland sites that we play with no unique feature. I laud the place for it's Safety inside the safe zone. But the Chrono situation is unforgivable, you can argue all you want that people can change springs and bb weights after chrono. But you have to at least be seen to make an effort that you take overpowered guns seriously. Bullpup Watch: L85, SRS HTTI, SRS Silverback, PDRC Best Guess Map:

It's not that straightforward though. Firstly there's a lot of chopping about to do to remove the rail blocks that obstruct the stock rails, then there's the issue of the rear end of the k receiver not having anywhere for the stock cap pin to go through (the end cap pin is further forward on the K). You might be able to get something like this to fit https://airsoft.tiger111hk.com/p44278/SRC-MP5-AEG-PDW-Retractable-Stock-(Black)/product_info.html

    External Rail Upgrade

Assuming it's the same as every other Marui with a front sight block I've ever had, you can just knock the pins out and remove the front sight block. Once that's off it's a simple case of unscrewing the barrel nut. Shouldn't be any need for a new outer barrel unless I'm wildly mistaken, unless the OP is simply more comfortable not having to do any of the aforementioned. Edit: I'm aware saying 'just' and 'simple case' is very easy to say when you've done it multiple times. But there are a decent portion of resources to guide through the removal of a front sight block out there.

Do you mean put a A3 upper receiver on to a MP5k lower receiver? Because that is just going to give you an MP5 A3. On the MP5K receiver the gas tube is integrated into the upper receiver. It would be less grief to modify the MP5K upper receiver to fit the stock than to modify a MP5 recover to fit a k gas tube.

  28. @kohoniixi What's it's FPS like ? What's it's accuracy like ? If the answer to both questions is positive, IE an FPS of 330+ & your hitting what you point it at, then leave it alone, use your available funds to sort out another primary, maybe a short rifle so you've got a viable alternative for different roles, as well as being a valuable backup. As for the sr25, if it's doing what's expected of it reasonably well, then leave it,if it ain't broke don't fix it, you might do more harm than good & inevitably create a money pit, something no one needs lol.

  29. yes, indeed i forgot to mention it. i really should have a copy-paste answer for this as it's a common enough question/response. as above, i forgot not everyone has one lying around, with improvements measured by chrono results it's definately worth having one if you're gonna tinker yourself.

  30. Both of the bits above are spot on - I'd echo the spare gun sentiment, at least be prepared to fork out for a rental. One thing I will add is to budget for a chrono, unless you have one readily available at short notice. Too many times I've seen people fiddle with their toys, put it back together and go "it fires, ready for game day!" and it's either spitting rounds out underpowered or they're not able to use the gun at all as it's over the limit.

  31. Thereโ€™s one golden rule I feel that Mr Hamster has not mentioned in his, frankly, spot on and thorough advice Buy a second pew first The chances of failure on a game day increase in a directly proportional manner to the amount of faffing around you do with the gun. Thereโ€™s nothing worse than funnelling cash into a pew, having it fail on game day and having to sit games out. Once youโ€™ve got a second gun in the bag to fall back on, follow Mr Hamsterโ€™s guide to the letter Two is one and one is none

  32. the first question is what is your goal? given it's an sr25 i'm going to assume that you're after the usual range/accuracy camp. bearing in mind when it comes to suggestions for specific products you can ask 10 different people and 11 different answers, and while i tend to stick to reccommending stuff i've actually used myself that doesn't mean there aren't other perfectly viable (or even better) options out there. as a general rule i tend to go with a particular order, in a rough order of effort-reward ratio: clean the barrel- and get into the habit of keeping it clean, at least before and sometimes even during every game day. there's debate over silicone versus alchohol and what it does to hop rubbers which i avoid by doing neither. if your gun came with a plastic clearing rod that's the perfect tool for the job (won't scratch up the barrel) with a strip of microfibre wrapped round it. some folk use cigarette filter tips although never tried that one myself. feed it good quality heavy ammo. it's amazing (especially with ak's) the number of times i've "fixed" a gun with jamming/feeding/accuracy problems just by emptying the mag and refilling it with geoffs. weight wise you want to be going as heavy as possible, the limit being what your gun can lift (which can be changed) and how much money you can afford to be sending downrange. for an assault style role i tend to find around the .3g range is a nice balance between cost and performance, but for a lower round count gun like a dmr then splashing out for the heavies is much easier. the best airsoft gun on the planet would still shoot like shit if you fed it crap ammo. hop rubber/nub- this goes hand in hand the ammo choice as this will dictate how heavy you can go. my general go-to combo is the standard maple leaf macaron with omega nub, sometimes the longer feedlips can cause feeding issues and in those cases i tend to switch to the PDI W-hold with a standard nub. the hardness rating is something that needs to be appropriate for the weight/weather/energy considerations. a lower powered setup, colder climate or heavier ammo would preferr going softer (eg to lob .48's at 1j i need to use a green/tan) whereas a higher energy might just push the feed lips out of the way and leak air. air seal- in short, you want every atom that's in the cylinder to be going down the barrel after the bb and nowhere else. a bad air seal will make for terrible shot-shot consistency (vertical dispersion) and a lower average fps. there's no point spring swapping until you're confident that all the energy you're making the motor wind up every time is going to be turned into useful benefit. you can get a rough guide to how good the gun is currently by seeing how much change there is in fps between shots on a chrono, you want this to be as low as possible. do make changes however you will need to crack open the gearbox, which can be a daunting prospect. for the basic air seal checks you can have a look here: energy- once you've got good air seal then you can look at the spring. you shouldn't worry about being 5-10fps under but if you're a big chunk under the site limit then you'll want to think about bumping it up. this will ofc mean a spring change. barrel- we're starting to hit the diminishing returns curve now, and the gun should already be pretty decent. there are debates about tight versus wide bores however the one overriding factor for what makes a good barrel is quality, whatever diameter it's meant to be it shouldn't vary, it should be straight, and the inner surface finish should be smooth. some folks polish their barrels and can get very good performance out of stock brass, however a drop-in is a lot easier. in terms of specific products on a budget the ZCI 6.02's are fantastic value for money, if you wanna go a bit more high end then personally i'm a fan of the PDI stainless stuff, although remember we're hitting the diminishing returns. hop unit- tbh unless there's a specific problem with the stock unit, i'd tend to leave it alone. one of the big problems you can get in airsoft is tolerances, and a good quality hop such as the maxx might still make the gun worse if it's not the right fit for that gun, the stock unit will at least be the proper size and fitment. note that this rule tends to apply generally- simply throwing the most expensive/shiny of any given component into a gun isn't always going to improve it. what you do want to make sure is that the hop unit is being pressed up nice and tight to the gearbox, in many cases there'll be a little spring that does this however a larger spring wrapped around the barrel or a stack of o-rings can work quite nicely. of course this is all improving the guns base ability to lob bb's with consistency, however there are other things that might be worth considering that can help improve practical use when accounting for actually having to use the thing: trigger response (well, lock time)- while you can largely get around this by knowing your gun well it definately feels better to have less time between pulling the trigger and the shot actually happening. the simplest and easiest way to do that these days is a precocking mosfet like the gate warfet/titan or the higher end perun units. bear in mind as a platinum series your gun will already have an internal mosfet and might well be snappy enough for your preferences. handling- doesn't matter if the gun shoots straight if it's so heavy/awkward to use that you can't aim it properly. we're very much in the hedgerows of personal choice and if you want to plaster your gun with grips/flashlights/lasers/bipods etc for no other reason than you want to/think it looks cool then absolutely go for it, just remember that extra weight comes with a penalty.
