Wild Weasel and one other reacted to SSPKali for a topic
Just tested mine on ASG Ultrair and 0.32g BBs and the stock TM bolt and nozzle kit. Shed has been warm today so all at about 23-25deg. Running a bit hot at 295fps with stock TM parts (should be a limit of 276fps!) DP lightweight bolt and nozzle / valve combo was doing similar FPS. Swapped out to AG v2 nozzle (still the TM bolt) and got it shooting a nice consistent 262fps ish even with a fresh warm mag and gas. Plenty of option to dial up or down if needed. Zeroed in the new Vortex Crossfire2 red dot with Unity clone mount as the old one is now living on the MP5 AEG (Blasphemy!) Although I had forgotten how much fun a GBBR was...probably run it on the 20th at UCAP VENDETTA.2 points -
If you can make the outer shell, sticking an AEP inside it would be the only option I think (other than going gas). They can be picked up for ยฃ50-ยฃ60 or so: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-pistols-all?*8=9 If it was me, I'd probably buy one KWC mini-uzi, vacuum form the shell using it, and use that to make the outer casing for as many as you need. Fix an AEP in each one, and seal it up. Then paint and finish. It wouldn't be particularly cheap though, and I think you'd struggle to make one from scratch for any cheaper.2 points

Er, confused. The only TM "mini" Uzi that I'm aware of is the diddy toy sized version that takes AA batteries and shoots about .1J, fully auto only. Are you talking about that one, or the full sized TM Uzi - which I'd be surprised to see anyone meddling with given the rarity.2 points

What a Cnut, so he openly acknowledges that his airsoft regulars have given him a continuous revenue stream when all his other fair weather punters have stayed away, he's also exploited the good nature of self same airsofters by asking for free labour (& probably skill sets) towards the upkeep of HIS property, from which he profits, & then the first opportunity he gets, he stabs his most loyal client base in the back๐ก. As for whether we should consider if he's on the spectrum & that therefore affects how he deals with questions on his business ethics, what a load of bollocks, the guy runs 4 locations catering for "outdoor pursuits" & is probably minted, so clearly nothing has held him back up til now, he's just taken his most reliable (& in some ways naive, no offence meant) client base for granted, in the knowledge that if he can get guys working for nothing, then what other liberties can he get away with. like I said, definitely no offence meant with my "naive" comment, I used to work in engineering on a heritage steam railway, as well as the skeleton crew of paid staff such as myself, the place had a massive core of volunteers, mostly retired people who were affectionately known as "puffer nutters", enthusiasts who were prepared to do all sorts of work, some of it menial & pretty shitty, just to get their fix of Steam etc. What I found objectionable about this though was the upper management/board of governors paid themselves very very well, while making lots of empty promises to the small core of paid staff regarding bonuses, wage increases & other incentives, when in truth those in charge were doing their best to trim the paid workforce even further, in the hope the volunteers would take up the slack on the less skill intensive roles. its one thing to volunteer for charitable ventures, but a completely different kettle of fish when greedy entrepreneurs exploit the interests of good natured reliable people, which I think is the case at druids EX-regular site.2 points

We have all suffered through covid, the site owner is no exception, but they aren't going about recovery if that is how they treat folk who choose to play at the site. Anyone who has decent leasure retail experience will tell you its not the one-offs that grow a business, its the repeat client. Once they go then things get very tricky. I know, as I'm sure others here do, that as self employed folk things are as hard now as ever as we have had to dip into savings, cut back, find cost saving where we can to survive. Slapping the faces of locals and regulars isn't the way to do it.2 points -
Oof. OK, sounds like you've been properly mugged off. Well, he's made his choice, all you can do is to make yours.2 points

My preferred local site has worked hard to get things back to normal, they've put the effort in, and due to this I've decided that I'll buy my BB's and gas from there rather than online even though they cost a little more as they deserve to recover from all this mess.2 points

It's how sites (and businesses) recover from the setbacks of the last 18 months that will define their future success, as has been said there's a right way and a wrong way. There's an abundance of people right now that want to catch up on all they missed out on in lockdown so there's a ton of demand and any business owner will want to get as much of that pie as they can, but as has been shown there's a fine line to tread so that you don't alienate those that were coming before and will continue to do so once things calm down a bit. Getting too greedy now may prove to be short-termist and cause more problems in future. Am all for sites doing it the right way, weekday evening shoots would be right up my street as my weekends fill up fast. I for one am also happy to muck in with the maintenance too, we all want our sites to do well after all.2 points

I've been quite surprised by the AOLS, the longer barrels are phenomenally dirty inside though so need a real thorough cleaning. They are lighter than the ZCI barrels, performance so far in the 10 or so I've tested is identical. I've run a snake cam down one and again comparable to ZCI. Quite pleased with them as a backup product to ZCI, however not sure they are being made anymore.2 points

@Adolf Hamster Almost every business has got fucked this last year, Iโm self employed so I was earning zero moolar even more so than most as I live in the fuck-wit city that is Leicester who couldnโt follow simple rules, I think from March 2020 to May 2021 I worked a total of 17 weeks out of 60+ weeks Thereโs always ways to improve/succeed without be a douche to your customers. Happily Iโm now back fully working Iโm back being my usual happy self putting my clients first and even tho I lost a sack load of money whilst still paying costs which have now increased I still havenโt increased any of my rates to my people as I know they are probably struggling financially too.2 points

'twas an odd day. It's definitely becoming way too hot to play. Wearing synthetic shit didn't help either. The new chest rig worked really well, I like how light it is even when loaded. We are now at 36 members with an active count of 15+ each Sunday, most are new kids, teamwork is growing but we are still not ready for tournaments, only a handful of people (including me) have experience with those. Which sucks dicks because we have one tournament scheduled on the 11th of July. So back to yesterday, there is this guy who always shows up late, thinks he has the right to do whatever the fuck he wants just because he paid, which is definitely not the case here, so after him being annoying all day I took him to the side and gave him one last chance at behaving before handing back his money and kick him out of the club. I mean, we meet at 8 AM on the field for a reason, especially during the warmer months, it gets unplayable after 10:30 AM so we try to play as much as possible before, you can't show up at 9 and then complain that we don't wait for you, or that we go home by 11:30.. There's plenty of other clubs that have a different view on Airsoft, go join those instead.2 points

Went out with my serviced and cleaned AK, only to fall over a tree root 10 mins into the game. I was a pretty good gymnast in the mists of time, so controlling a fall is fairly easy, but... I managed to snag my free foot on something else too as I fell. THUD. Busted the rear sight, split the top housing in front of the (now displaced) dust cover, and the battery compartment bottom cracked. I hit the floor hard enough to dislodge a contact lens. I honestly thought that I'd broken my big (arthritic) toe, but it moved after a few minutes of laying still and therapeutically swearing. Rifle still fed OK and shot straight so on we went. Played OK too. First game damage I've inflicted on a CYMA. I doubt an all steel build would have been damaged, but I doubt I'd find one for less than ยฃ70 on TG. I'll have to get the gaffer tape and cable ties out I expect. If it's serious the Jubilee clips come out too, possibly the superglue. Bloody good day out mind!2 points -
Help Me Build a Disposable One-use Automatic Uzi

Hi, everyone! I'm working on a project, and I need to build an airsoft automatic mini uzi that will be used just ONCE. I'm looking for the cheapest parts and solutions that can yield automatic firing. I'm just talking about the mechanisms of the gun, forget the body, but bearing in mind it will have to fit within a Tokyo Marui uzi. Any ideas? Thank you so much, people. Looking forward to hearing from you. Peace and love.1 point -

We all had to start somewhere. Some basic kit and a decent set of boots will be a big help to start with. Make sure you don't skimp on eye protection. Best bit of playing kit for a beginner is the humble dump pouch - You can carry a spare mag or two and a bag of BBs and not have to fumble with pockets. Simply loops onto any belt you've got in your wardrobe. They only cost ยฃ8-9 posted from AliExpress, or ยฃ12 (not inc Postage) from a UK supplier.1 point -

Exactly AND it was us who came with the idea to help get the sites back up to scratch as in the end it would benefit us the most if the sites where back to full playability and not all over grown so we could only use the main tracks on them . If you really are concerned about dimensions, then getting a KWS Mini UZI is probably best, but not the cheapest. Otherwise you're going to have to do a lot of work to get the right shape. Having it only fire in 1 setting is odd, do you really need it to fire? What if something goes wrong and it doesn't work, are you going to throw it away and build another one? I get that in the movie that's how it functions, but you don't need to replicate it's function, just it's aesthetics surely... If the real weapon in the movie fired, I can guarantee that it could be taken apart since it will be a live firearm. The picture above shows a clam style casing that comes apart.1 point

Help Me Build a Disposable One-use Automatic Uzi
Tackle reacted to Airsoft_87 for a topic
Ok. Ghost in The Shell 2017, there is a weapon that is a disposable one-use submachine. The one used in the movie is just an uzi that fires blanks with a shell to disguise it. I want to make a replica of that gun, but being faithful to the original design (image attached). It will be possible to be used just once, because the body I'm going to make won't be possible to be taken apart, so it can't be reloaded (not gas, battery, or bb's). I want to keep that part of the story in the weapon. So what worries me is just the guts of the weapon, because it just has to be pulling the trigger and that's it, because the actual weapon was just like that, simple, cheap. I hope I've been clearer this time๐๐ Thank you for your time anyway, Tackle! I knew it was going to be hard xD.1 point -

OK, now I'm really intrigued. I think we're talking different languages here and might have to find a common lexicon in the middle. We're thinking in terms of what we know about airsoft guns and what they can do: we generally buy a fully complete package, most of them can already shoot BBs full auto, and the internals aren't generally swappable between different types of gun. Electric guns tend to have gearboxes and motors that you might be able to repackage inside something else. But with gas guns the body of the gun is generally functional and modification tends to be more about sticking cosmetics on them. If I'm understanding you right, you want to create replicas of a specific theatrical firearm (that's submachine gun sized), and have them be able to shoot BBs. That's opposed to creating actual theatrical props for use on film. Or did I get that wrong? In either case, the clearer and more specific you can be, the better. If you're making replicas of something that already exists, can you let us know what that is? That might help us to suggest a base platform that you can modify, or something that has the most appropriate internals to repurpose.1 point -

There is not such thing as cheap when building from scratch. From what you are asking it appears you have no knowledge of Airsoft do your self a favour and just use off the shelf guns.1 point -
Still confused, the TM shell/body you refer to, is that a springer ?, rather than TM's existing full auto aep series. if this is the case, assuming you can get the springers at a much cheaper price than the aep version, its highly unlikely you'll find cost effective internals you need, assuming it's even possible, which I highly doubt. surely better to have cheap a non firing replicas, & add cgi muzzle flashes post production ?1 point

why the hell does it only need to work once? tbh, it's likely impossible, by which i mean if it's capable of spewing bb's on auto at all then that de-facto will make it reusable. as mentioned the cheapest solution is to just buy one of the existing products that already do exactly what you want, even with the depreciation selling it on secondhand when you're done it'll be orders of magnitude cheaper and easier than making something yourself that works.1 point -
TM only make a full size Uzi so do you have a Springer or AEG? Unless you mean the toy scale ones which are electric anyway. cheapest quickest option is just to buy a Well full size AEP Uzi, next cheapest option will be to fit a kwc gbb mini Uzi into the body you have, it wouldn't require that much modification. Other option is HPA (expensive and will require lots of fabrication work) or get an AEP Mac 11 and fit the internals ( a lot cheaper than HPA but still lots of fabrication).1 point

Did a quick lunchtime test using Abbey Predator Ultra gas on 0.28s. Ambient temperature was 22c/23c. Using a fresh mag partly full and shooting off 30 rounds the high was 314fps (1.28 joules and the low 299fps (1.16 joules). For 0.28โs the acceptable power is 295fps. Iโll say it again... the recoil on the MWS is something else! P.S. Disclaimer... No Nuprol bbs were harmed and crushed intentionally under my boots during this time. Why coz I donโt have any ๐1 point

Sorry to hear that, druid, it's sad to hear that a good site has gone bad. I'd sack it off for the owner's attitude, there's no fixing that. On the money though, I actually appreciate Mrs Owner's honesty, and I think we need to have an honest conversation about that. ยฃ25 per person for a full day plus maybe a couple of quid profit on BBs or bangs is great value for us, but a poor earner for sites. I'm astonished that they manage to run at all on such thin gruel. Compare that to pack of chavs where they turned over ยฃ600 in 2 hours. It rather sounds like the site owner has decided that you're more trouble than you're (literally) worth. If he's trying to make a living from the land, he could actually be right about that. So it might be best to just wish him the best of luck and move on.1 point

Great, that's an improvement, and that's what I'd expect from an M100 spring. 100 is notionally 100 metres = 328 feet on 0.2g. Aside I can't be doing with 0.2g fps numbers, as who's using 0.2g BBs these days? But we are where we are. With a long barrel and heavier BBs you want a bit more puff behind them, so if you're happy that it's as good as it's going to get, I'd also agree that dropping a bigger spring in make sense now. If it comes in over, then you can chop off a coil or just heat the end over a lighter until it just starts to glow and squish the final coil in, which will drop the power a little. I can't find any information on the diameter of your barrel, only the length, so the other thing you might consider is a tighter bore barrel. @ak2m4 is the go-to for gear, and while I'd normally recommend ZCI, I've also had good experiences with AOLS and have just dropped this (in-stock) 455mm into my DMR. https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/inner-barrels/aols-aeg-inner-barrel-455mm That's getting me a very decent 1.7 - 1.8J out of an M130 spring, which is slight more than you'd notionally expect. I'm going by this listing of your gun which claims a 463mm barrel. You should of course check, and it's fine to go shorter on barrels: once the puff from the cylinder runs out, the barrel is really just getting in the way.1 point -

Update!!! took it all apart and got into the gear box, checked the cylinder air pressure with and without the nozzle. Tested with the plastic guard as I understand it pushes it away and everything seemed fine but I heated the O ring just in case and greased up. Also the hop up rubber looked in good condition but I thought may have possibly been dry and thatโs the reason as you guys explained, so cleaned it up and greased it. Put all together after having some issues putting the receiver back on, the results are below: 0.20 firing average 325fps @ 0.98 Joules 0.28 firing average 265fps @ 0.91 Joules (did have one that fired at 286fps @ 1.06 joules which would be happy if that was consistent) The above results are probably correct with the spring that the shop provided me with as explained at the beginning which is suppose to give around 330 FPS with 0.20. (Even though Iโd explained what I was looking to achieve) Iโm thinking for myself to get as close to 295fps with 0.28 Iโd have to buy a 110 spring which gives around 360fps with 0.20 and cut the spring if itโs going over? Or any other recommendations on how I could reach the desired fps? ๐1 point -

Hence my point about opening more being preferable to double booking which i agree is a shitty way to go about solving the problem. Thats the problem with autism- at the "lesser" end of the scale folk can, especially as they age and gain experience, become very adept at appearing normal, right up until the point they're not. indeed for the older generations it's very common for folk to be undiagnosed (and by extension unaware themselves why they act certain ways). Possibly, although as mentioned it can be incredibly hard to tell in person let alone secondhand. Saying things either verbally or with body language that are just the wrong fit for the situation is a common symptom (leading to more frustration because now people are pissed off). Again as with above this could be interpreted either way. Given you were a regular there and had a much clearer view of how he was acting you could well be right, as mentioned it could be interpreted either way when reviewed second-hand in writing. Tbh the reason i brought it up was more just to plant the seed that there could be an alternate explanation, having read it and realised some of the similarities. For sure, i mean they could at least have been up front about it- let folks know what was going to happen so they could decide if they still wanted to make the trek or not.1 point -

As much as i hate to be the devils advocate, it is understandable that sites who've spent the last year taking it rough from the government are gonna be desperate to get back to some sense of financial sensibility. However, there's a right way and a wrong way. My local's answer to the problem of wanting more money was hey, lets open more (as in doing wednesday evening and saturday shoots on top of their normal sundays) because our customers wanna play as much as we want their money. The wrong way is diluting down the service and not even giving your customers the common fucking courtesy of explaining why. However i might want to hazard a theory as to the way he was acting. I'm not saying this is what is going on, and without the context of being there it's equally possible he's just an asshole. However, sometimes folk who are on the spectrum can have quirky ways of dealing with confrontational situations, if they start to get overloaded then falling silent and walking off to do seemingly mundane tasks can be a coping mechanism relied on right before the bottled up panic gets unleashed as rage. If this is the case then the very last thing you want to do is to follow them/further elevate the situation as they may be very close to breaking.1 point -

Best of luck. The thing about airsoft is that it's not an exact science, and by that I mean that it tends not to be reproducible. The quality control is all over the place, and it only takes a fraction of a mm gap to reduce air seal. It could be something as simple as the barrel not being fully seated in the hop, or the hop unit not being pushed back against the gearbox hard enough by whatever spring or o-ring is supposed to be doing that. It's really a case of trial and error to see what works for your particular gun, and I'd go with the easy stuff first.1 point -
Had a great day at Warminster Airsoft today. Blue won the morning game with one bridge out of three to Red's none but some good teamwork by Red after lunch got the the bomb in place for a convincing win. First time out with my new SRS and got plenty of good hits with it. Loved the short length and balance of the SRS, very easy to move around with it slung on my back. Ran my P90 as a sidearm and enjoyed using both all day. Good hit taking on both sides from what I saw. Suffered from bad fogging in the first game of the day but managed to sort it and goggles stayed clear after that. I'll definitely go with the SRS/P90 combo again, just need to make sure the P90's weapon clip doesn't fall off again. Good day out, many thanks to all at Warminster today. Good pic of the P90 sidearm.๐ New hat causing fogging issues. Hat change sorted the fogging problems followed by a successful first day with the SRS.๐1 point

Cunning or Cheating?
Cheeky vimto reacted to Cyberlawyer for a topic
Personally I totally agree with the players that complained to the Marshals and believe this should be dealt with in the strongest possible terms. Why do I feel so strongly on this issue, Two reasons: First itโs a matter of player safety. If a player is allowed to get away with this behaviour then the only realistic way for the enemy team to react is to treat everyone doing the โdead mans walkโ as a live player and open fire. This is going to lead to massive over shooting/over killing on the poor sods who are genuinely โdeadโ and actually making the slog back to the safe zone/respawn. Yes there is an argument that dead players should have pistols holstered and hand/rifle in the air, but the reality is this only happens until they have withdrawn from the firefight that killed them and is impractical if the terrain is even moderately uneven and the respawn is more than about 50 yards away, particularly on larger sites where there can be multiple engagements between where a player โdiedโ and the respawn. Secondly, it is completely unrealistic and against the spirit of the game in an honesty based system that is intended to mimic engagements with firearms. It is not being clever or sneaky it is just as dishonest as players who donโt take their hits, in fact more so as there is no possible argument that the offending player may not have felt a BB at the end of its range that hits a bit of gear. It is straight out gaming the mechanics of the system.1 point -
