Prison's are designed to be able to be secure with a few guards as possible, they intentionally employ choke points, funnelling designs and are essentially inverse castles (designed to keep people in versus keep people out). I just don't think this is a good site for a large number of people. I think for prisons you need to design the event around the site. It needs to be asymmetric in terms of teams a few people as the guards who can lock down buildings etc and the rest as inmates trying to escape. That or you need to have far fewer players so they can't just lock everything down. My vote with 400 players on site is clusterfuck.3 points

What it says and the reality, is going to be very very different. That to me looks like just the total boundaries. The drops from the green sides into the moat looks around 2 stories. Sunset October is around 7pm. So that's unlikely to be usable. The chunk to the right is going to be parking and camping. You remove the open grass areas, which well are gonna be just that. Leaves you with about 20 very easy to lock down controlled buildings, that are designed to funnel people. Oh and a single bridge across of the bottom left part of the site is going to be so easy to lock down. For the first 20-30 or so people who get over it. No idea how accessible the higher ground is from the moat. So that might change things but this is going to feel a heck of a lot smaller with 200 people shooting you with hicaps. We went to the Gloucester prison and locked down that site with about 50 per site. I mean we have locked down woodlands sites with not many more. That site with 150 would be pretty epic but 400 from my experience of large games, its just going to be a cluster fuck of camping and ammo spamming. That after the first 20mins of any story will fall apart in to a skirmish. Maybe if they limit it to 400 rounds but that they have stated its not going to be milsim. Perhaps I am just jaded but large games usually tend to be pretty terrible mess after a couple of hours of marshalls trying to herd cats. Giving up, just standing back and lobbing the odd pyro for effect.2 points

Hi and welcome to the fold 👋 Ground zero is a great site. Big though. Plenty of challenging terrain with means it can be hard work.will test your fitness lol. I'm sure you will enjoy it though. Check out @GAMBLEon the tube he has some great vids which will answer a lot of your questions.👍 Have fun 🙂 Regards2 points

I also use both mesh and normal goggles. I've read the stories of BBs shattering but I've never seen anything happen in the few years I've been playing. Its really only possible with high power sniper rifles at close range and they usually have a minimum shooting distance of 20-30 metres. So its possible but HIGHLY unlikely. (Perhaps it was more likely in the past and maybe BB quality has improved?) As Iceni said, goggles are good as long as they are close fitting around the eyes. It depends how much exercise you can do before sweat becomes a problem. Forget shooting glasses. They're like half protection. Lower face protection is very advisable and mandatory for under 16s at the sites I go to. THIS is good because it includes ear protection and easy to breath (Example only: You may find them cheaper elsewhere). You can also bend the mesh to fit the face. I've not been to Ground Zero but from the google photos it looks really good (and big). Who knows, you may get addicted too 😉2 points

Okay so, so Survival in Torrington has a spot this Sunday, so I'ma probs gonna go along to that just to see what the crack is, and go from there. If I love it, which I'm sure I will, I'll go to the one on the 2nd May as well, which should give me time to heal a million BB exit wounds.2 points

THE TM MWS thread
camden reacted to PewPewLoki for a topic
Hey folks, not sure if this has already come up in this thread (I searched and couldn't find anything, and apologies, but I couldn't bring myself to read through all 190 pages of posts) but a quick random one for anyone looking to buy (or having bought and regretted buying) the SAA/Ace 1 Arms PMags: Have you noticed yours are leaky AF? Mine were. Could barely rattle off 4 shots. So I bought the G&P 'stendos, which seem decent, but still not amazing. However, if you open up the SAA mags and take the release valves out, you'll not only notice that they're standard TM-spec 1911/MWS valves (easily replaced/repaired), but you'll probably also find a seal rattling around the inside of your mag. As you can see from the attached picture, not only have they completely come off the valves, but they're also flat and hard and torn. Replace these with TM or LPE or even WE/Army, and you'll have a way better time with them. Not sure where SAA/Ace 1 get their seals from, but this is pretty shocking.1 point -
Looking at Lonex outer barrels, they appear to be CCW.1 point

As far as I'm aware E&C are still the guys on the original Specna One Series, which is why they are still the best in the range.1 point

What Helps You Decide on a Magazine?
Dacks_18 reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
I own both mid-and-hi-caps. I've found that what I use depends on the scenario played. Winding hi-caps can be a pain in the arse when you stop feeding mid-burst, however having several hundred rounds available can be advantageous as you don't have to reload - something, as a rookie, I still struggle with. My first game I ended up dumping the gun when clumsily trying to reload and switching to the pistol sorted it out during a lull in the action... Mid-caps are handy as you don't need to wind and still have decent capacity. Personally I'm not fussed about rattle, shooting and shouting is way more constant and louder than that so no worries for me, although if stealth is your thing that could be an issue, in which case mid-caps help.1 point -

Thanks so much for the advice everyone it's really helpful.... sorry for the random questions but am a bus driver so giving me time to think....is it best to get a small rucksack and take a spare battery( don't know how long these last for)with him for the first time one to carry stuff In and the other obviously as don't want to ruin his first go by the battery going dead...and also does he need a case to care his gun around like u do with air rifles etc1 point -
Yeah, ordered this then, though it was cheaper for me to do it from Aliexpress than them... It's a shame: I will be able to use this gun in the field this weekend once again, and I already received 410mm Crazy jet and nub + rubber and was prepared to upgrade but now I cant do it until i get this tool kinda frustrating... One more question, do you really need a vice for this job? Or I maybe can get away with heating barrel nut and trying to unscrew it ? Yes, you and me both, I was amazed by the information that is given here! One of the reasons I went with TM M4 platform instead of GHK1 point

Don't leave batteries in the gun and if you do end up getting Lipos (recommended) pick up a charging bag as well. Helmets can come later and, at Ground Zero, are pretty useful preventing bumps and scratches from all the trees. As others have mentioned, anything over the head is recommended to take the sting out of a BB hit. I favour a boonie if I'm too hot in my helmet. They also provide a bit of extra protection from the sun, especially if you can get one with a detachable neck cover. Gloves are also something to consider as a shot to the finger is really sore. Don't think you have to pick everything up at once though. Build it up over time and after a couple of games you'll soon be able to prioritise purchases based on the freshest set of 6mm welts! Military 1st is a great site to pick up all sorts of kit. Link is here. Their prices are good, service is quick and stock list is huge.1 point

Mesh is a double edged sword. If you sweat a fair bit then there really isn't any other option that works as well, without spending a fair chunk of change. You see mesh doesn't fog at all with your sweat. The downside to mesh is it can and does let parts of BB through if the bb hits and shatters. A lot of players still use it, and it does work, but you wear it knowing you may get bits in the eye eventually... It kind of the same with choosing not to wear lower face protection, It's more conformable without it, but at the same time you may need a trip to the dentist if a stray bb knocks out a tooth. Shooting glasses can be worse than mesh, they often have large openings at the sides, top and bottom. Goggles or a well fitted mask are better options. The problem there is goggles and masks love to fill with sweat, they fog up, and they can be hotter to wear. Because this is an open forum, most people will advise against mesh, but that doesn't mean they don't own and use it, they just use it knowing the risks. Personally I have several pairs of eye protection because I suffer with stupidly long eye lashes, So some of the close fitting types hurt over a days play, I use mesh and goggles. with a tendency towards goggles until I'm sweating too much to see, The colder it is the less this is a problem. For goggles have a look in screwfix there's a few offerings from Bolle, Dewalt, Uvex, ect that are more than up to the task for under £20, For Mesh I have a few sets as well but I favour a small black pair that seem to have a little more foam padding so they sit off the face a little more.1 point

High caps are easy. You can fill directly from a bottle of BB's as they have a trap door loading method. They rattle a bit, You have to wind them on. But essentially on the field 1 high cap and a bottle of BB's stuffed in a pocket is more ammo than most could use in a day, and you can fill up in 1 minute without any other tools. Easy to have 500 bb's loaded and be carrying 3000. Mid caps are a bit more involved. You have a bit more investment in the magazines because you will own more of them. You will also need some way to carry those mags. Say you have 5 mags, then you are going to need at least 4 pouches, or 2 double pouches, a webbing kit, vest or bag, And if it's a full day of play you may also need to have your bottle of BB's and a loader. 5x100 is still only 500bb's. If you are carrying a bottle you'll want a pouch or bag for that and the speed loader. The reward for midcaps is you don't have to wind the mag. So the gun is always ready until the ammo is out. You don't rattle as much, and you get far more mag swaps in a game over high caps, without it been a constant thing like with low caps. You'll have a bit more downtime to reload those mags, and a decent speed loader can save a lot of frustration when you have 5 mags to sort between games, or whilst your been covered mid game. Low caps are even more involved, whilst you can get away with 5 mags, you probably won't be comfortable with that unless you are an established player. 5x30 is only 150bb's. and 10x30 is only 300. If you are using low caps there's a good chance you are either in a mill sim, or play in a very frugal fashion with ammo, As you adapt to the lower ammo count and probably won't be carrying more ammo (or the games will be ammo limited). It's best to avoid low cap mags unless you want that realism. For me I tend to run mid caps, but will often have an empty high cap on the webbing and a bottle of bb's either on my kit, or on a mates kit. So if things start to heat up there is a fast reload option available, It's pretty rare I push hard enough to need that high cap in assault but for defence it can be useful.1 point

The topic of ‘Fees’ rears it’s ugly little heads quite regularly and in the end it always ends up the same way , you’ve got one side that says you should have one single figure that you ask for that covers everything and on the other you’ve got the ones who go in to very long winded reasons for why you have the goods price and then P&P plus PayPal is tagged on after . One of the biggest reasons they Say this seems to be letting the buyer choose the delivery method instead of setting it them selves wether by parcelfarce/ Royal fail or Hermies/etc me I just do Royal Mail/Parcelfarce as my preference for who I’ll send via and that’s that you want anything else ? General Guidance on Starting to Play Airsoft in UK
shadowfacex reacted to Tommikka for a topic
Please note that strictly legally speaking there are no ‘abandoned’ locations. (There are places that are disused, but they belong to someone and are typically held by a developer or a landowner waiting for the right time to come for development) If you play on one of them then you would be trespassing and potentially committing a firearms offence due to not having permission. Unusual locations like this are occasionally used by established sites & organisers - either as one off games or a site is established until the landowner / developer uses it1 point -

I think I'm finally done with my VFC SCAR-H. Parts: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12v6YkUH44YzoyB8OpJLW5I2xgpuF0jbp0GJial5D-7Y/edit?usp=sharing I'm probably going to remove the flashlight, is there a smaller/lower profile one I could use? it's too chunky.1 point -
They are absolute shit lol. I have had loads of AG parts, all but one of them have problems..they clearly test nothing! There is no other explanation for it. Ag nozzle, weird full auto so removed. Ag bolt (sf version) piston wouldn't fit, also spring retainer wouldn't go in without modding. Ag outer barrel, hop issues when installed Ag maritime bolt catch, sticks out about 3mm more than a real one, so you cannot wind the mag release enough to seat it properly. They even admitted to me they screwed it up! Ag mag release, fell in half first use lol..pin just fell out! Ag charging handle, roll pins just fall out Ag lightweight bolt catch, needed heavy filing to move freely. Ag urgi v2 rail, will not fit an mws without their adapter ring which only comes with their outer barrel set which causes hop problems! The v1 rail was fine and had a more durable finish. Saying that, my flash hider is perfectly fine, even they would struggle to fuck that up. They clearly make things based on pictures on the Internet, this is why everything is out of spec..then they clearly do not test finished products on a base mws but on modified ones made from their parts. I hope they go out of business.1 point

Yeah I have the matching flash hider, I think I have sorted it. I was trying to treat it like a normal screw and having it all the way "untight" by having it full loose to the left. Didn't realise it is a cam lock and so I needed to fully tighten it right and then back it off slightly once it was on. very confused but sorted.1 point
