The A&K Hop unit is notoriously bad. Its like they have never seen a hop unit and have no idea how it works beyond what someone told them at a drunken dinner. It's why I replaced mine!4 points

I’ve always thought the “they all do the same thing” argument a rather puerile and pointless one my self . Yes they all do the same job too some extent but if that’s the case then why don’t we just all use something that looks like a rental paintball gun you all know the type , a rudimentary pistol grip/trigger and barrel with a hopper on top for the BBs that doesn’t actually look like any kind of real gun but does the job very effectively then ? Because we WANT it to look like this gun or that gun that’s why and if someone is going to use the equally childish argument of “it’s just adult dress up cowboys and Indians” to defend there more often than not nasty attitude to the person or persons there arguing with (more often than not simply because they can’t actually counter the other persons opinion with an intelligent reply) then again the same question equally applies to the kit most of us wear ? Some players just wear normal clothes and use the most basic of guns or have a gun that’s been worked on to within an inch of it imploding due to it being wound that tight so it’ll fire a gazillion rounds a sec and a trigger that’s so sensitive it’ll fire from the wind produced as a butterfly flies passed it ! and all they want is to zip round a site shooting as many players as they can where as most others do dress up and try to follow game plans and mission briefs and use it as an escape from reality for a few hrs once or twice a mth , but is there anything wrong with that ? I don’t think so , play with what ever you want and dress how ever you want just don’t be a cock about it and don’t expect the majority to change for the minority .3 points

i've always wondered why people bother with hop upgrades on a support gun, it's not like you're going to be running heavy ammo through it or really care about minute of angle accuracy so why expend the money?3 points -

Exactly, none of us need more than 2 guns & a pistol , but the truth is some of us have got armories that would make the marine corps jealous, totally unnecessary but that's airsoft for ya, big boys toys, but keeps us out of trouble lol.2 points

Only ever worked on their m60, and while its bad it's very amenable to being tdc'd with minimal effort. Both fair points, after all i use my 10" m4 carbine more like a sniper rifle than a door kicker. I suppose i can talk, i have meddled with mg hops before, mostly for reason 2.2 points -

I kind of feel for the guy, he's likely put a lot of time and money into making the perfect custom toy gnu for him. However, he may be missing the point that one man's dream custom is another's nightmare Frankengun. To my eyes, that's just another heavy lump of a thing that will perform the function of the "support gunner" imaginary role every bit as well as any plastic AEG with a box mag and a heavy trigger finger. Motor, barrel, hop unit and rubber are upgrades. A pistol grip and a 3D printed buffer tube are not. I'm particularly amused by buying a TruSight rubber ("capable of operating in -50C to +230C" 🙄 ) that comes with its own magical concave nub, then also buying a Maple Leaf nub. The value is entirely dependent on finding someone who wants exactly that toy, with exactly those parts on it. I wish the seller the best of luck with that.2 points -
What have you just 3d printed (for airsoft)

Airsoft electric gun with custom 3d printed gearbox. Uses TM-compatible parts for gearbox v3 and m-series mags. Barrel length 455 mm. For extra toughness of construction used 10x20 mm alluminium channels. Gearbox tested with 148 m/s (487fps) output and works well. Gun is open-source, files may be downloaded on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:29163902 points -

I'm the type of guy to usually only mutter a few words and that'll be when signing in unless I know people at the site I'm playing. If I don't know anyone I don't make a habit of conversing unless spoke to first, just my nature. Did you just admit to liking Sheryl Crow?1 point -
Even if I had the money I don’t think I could bring my self to spend that much on some kit , BUT has to be said bud I don’t think your one of the standing in the safezone telling someone in a very loud voice for all to hear how much it cost types are you ? And as Sheryl Crow sings 🎵 if it makes you happy , it can’t be that bad ? 🎵👍1 point

Not when you know a fabricator but if I wanted it in steel then I would do so, the question was about the hardest material available via 3d printing 😉 Cheers mate, the phone I'd be using is old hence I'm not fussed about using it for Airsoft ☺️1 point -

that's it, plus a "magazine" (if you can call it that) that was essentially a gravity fed hopper, fine on the level but try to fire up ir downhill & it would stop feeding, ended up building my own powered mag in to an m60 mag pouch, worked great then, but definitely not a gun fir anyone with a bad back.1 point

Airsoft MGs are purely intimidation. The M60 we had was a cheap useable gym workout. But my god when the opposition saw it, they all shat themselves, but not as much as when they heard/felt it. I think people forget, half the battle is in people’s minds. The whole FPS/Range argument sums that up perfectly.1 point

Everyone screams “UP-GRADE ! UP-GRADE ! YOU MUST UP-GRADE ! “ shortly afterwards you see the same people asking for advice as ‘it don’t work like it’s supposed too ?’ Is it really worth the effort? 🤔1 point

With the Borg on this , do agree don’t really see the point of a support weapon if it’s not being run AS a support weapon ! (Unless it’s my chainsaw , now that’s for shits’n’giggles no matter what the game !) my support gun has been up-graded , but that’s only due to it being an A&K !😂 when I do run it i always mix the ammo in it (.2’s/.25’s/.28’s and few .3’s) so I get a nice spread when laying down suppressing fire on the field.1 point

1) Because "support gun" is largely a fictional narrative in airsoft? You're either firing for effect and getting hits, or you're just blasting bush and your target likely doesn't even realise that you're shooting at them, let alone that in your head, they're supposed to be both impressed and suppressed. To be clear I'm not criticising people who enjoy whacking the bushes, we're all playing a daft game of pretend for fun. But if your site doesn't run different rules for different toys, then the reality is a "support" gun is just a cumbersome carbine. 2) Don't we all like spending money on our preciouses and fiddling with them for that ultimate / imaginary extra 5m of accurate range? Heck, I'm currently running a Maple Leaf rubber and nub in my MP5K that over-hops the 0.2g that I feed it for CQB.1 point -

I also had a cracking day yesterday at black ops Portishead , just me and my best bud , not particularly kit heavy just my Arthurian 416 and a TM recoil 74su , lots of good kills ,no real problem with ‘shouty’ players or non takers . Even shared a table with a guy never met before and we were all best mates by the end of the day ! So for me ? Just what I wanted (AND needed!) 👍1 point -

One from last week at Apocalypse Airsoft. Bit of a shakedown for the AKS47 putting some rounds through it & zeroing in prior to a Milsim at the end of the month. No Gucci kit apart from the RIF! - £10 Oliver jumper / £15 combats with knees / Gloves £1.99 / boonie a cheap eBay jobbie at .99p & a chest rig sourced at a bootfair for less than a tenner. What doesn't come out in the pic is I'm wearing a tan mesh snood with metal mouth guard sourced from Delta Mike Face Pro - Solid piece of kit, nice & stretchy so covered my neck, lower face up to the bridge of my beak, over the ears tightens up with the fastener on the back, worked really well & a decent compromise vs. face mask or being hard & not having any Face Pro. Loadouts don't have to be expensive (which nicely contradicts my usual Peacocking posts!!)1 point -

Thanks to rocket aka John and his images myself and someone skilled in fabrication, converted the armorer works drum mag. Tested this weekend in game rather than proper testing the gas amount came close to the amount of bbs and it left a great smile against hpas and aegs alike. So many are interested in the MWS when they hear it and well they should be. Still semi auto is the only way to use this for perfection Now just to tidy up the drum and paint1 point -
