Who is up for the Mall on 06/09/15 and the 13th?
Raggedy_man reacted to Brackish for a topic
Hi All, Still being a newbie I am up for trying different sites. I am interested in the Mall but would like to get a group to meet up for a laugh. Would you be up for a meet on say the 6th September? I may do my local site on the 13th September or try Finmere if anyone is up for that too. Alternatively if the 6th is no good we could arrange The Mall on the 13th? Let me know what you think all. Hi Names Rik Am getting into airsoft after going to a game with a friend from work. I was immediatly hooked and so started reading up on airsoft. After learning that most guns share very similar designs and most can be upgraded internally i have bought myself a King Arms Blackwater M4 pistol. I wasn't able to find the cqb or carbine version in stock anywhere in the uk so i bought a 2 piece carbine length outer barrel, a 36.3cm 6.03 madbull tightbore barrel, a 7 1/2" keymod Ris rail system and an acog scope. I'm going to buy a stock for it next payday along with some other bits. I come from a 15 year RC background so tinkering with the gun isn't going to be a problem and more than likely i will find building and modifying guns more enjoyable than using them as i do RC. I'm looking forward to going to some outdoor events and think I could really get into milsim type events after watching many many youtube videos. I also look forward to getting killed by any of you that I meet but be warned, I will return fire lol. Cheers, Rik1 point -

Haha. I fired 20 rounds with just a pistol all afternoon. The Cat and Mouse is much more fun than the full auto. On my first jaunt out I was unarmed and we got in a firefight with rebels and a PMC lent me his pistol so we shot ourselves out. I ended with a round to the arm. Second time around I went back with my own Beretta and leg rig.1 point -

Any opinions on ACU Digital camo?
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Mack for a topic
Personally I used to love it when I used it, Dont see it that often anymore. You could always mix it with DPM/DDPM for a UKSF look. Not the best for a woodland game but for CQB or urban sites spot on, but then again the ranges we play at camo isnt the biggest deal. FYI the camo isnt called ACU, its called UCP (Universal camoflage Pattern). ACU (Army Combat Uniform) is the cut of the clothes. I settled for an SRC hard case too after using a cheap chinese soft case for a few months. The SRC cases are usually about £60 depending on where you look. I wasn't too happy with the soft case. Although it did do it's job there wasn't that much padding and the rifle tended to move around a bit inside which I believe lead to a little paint being worn away on the fire selector switch. I've been quite happy with my SRC case so far. It only JUST fits into the boot of my Golf so if you look at other cases, bear in mind the width of the case.1 point -

Take the end of the sling in the second picture and wrap it around the buffer tube once then back through the triglide buckle. Tighten the buckle down so that it sits against the buffer tube and then pass the slack end back through the buckle to secure it.1 point -
Yes, I used to use mine for an M4A1 (until I changed pretty much every part on the gun - still fits in the bag it's just not an M4A1 any more). It's long enough for an M249 Para with the stock stowed and also has an extending rifle barrel cover that comes out of the main compartment if you have any longer guns you need to carry (I use it when I'm carrying my M14 EBR for example). I've regularly used one to carry my SCAR-L, an M4, an AKS74U and a pistol all at the same time. Great bags (whichever one you buy).1 point

Without seeing it in the flesh it looks SO similar I'd be hard pushed to pick between the two. Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Esoterick for a topic
I use one of these: http://uktactical.com/p-690-warrior-twin-rifle-bag.aspx It's not cheap but the build quality is excellent. In mine I can store: LMG or HK416 in the main compartment HK416 or submachinegun/M870 in the smaller compartment, both compartments have 2 velcro straps to stop the guns from move about and are padded 7 PMAGs in a pocket Wallet, keys, phone, a couple of smoke grenades and 2 pistol mags in a pocket Last pocket has straps for a pistol, plus two mounts for mags so I have a pistol mag and my M870 gas magazine in them. Plus 6 LiPos Aside from a couple of indents from my LMGs receiver digging into the padding there's pretty much no signs of wear after 18+ months of owning it. There certainly are cheaper bags available but personally i'd rather pay a bit more for one that's really sturdy. I own a Plano hard case too, but the biggest issue there is any gun aside from my LMG slides around. Negates having the eggshell padding when the guns hit the hard plastic case as soon as you try and walk along holding the carry handle. It's relegated to being storage for guns i'm not taking out to a game, it also doesn't fit in my boot lol.1 point -
I use a Viper multi gun bag. Works fine, can fit an M4 sized rifle plus an SMG and a pistol plus mags for all. Don't pay more than £50 for it though.1 point

All telescopes with crosshairs suffer from this, and everybody's eye needs a different setup to get both the crosshair and the target in focus. The lens you look through should be screwed into the frame of the scope and you should be able to turn it. If there is a number gauge on the side (unlikely) set it to 0 then work out which way your eye suits in little steps1 point

Welcome aboard Everyone's a noob at some point, but not for long, so don't worry about asking stuff, there's no dumb questions. So ask away. If you're doing CQB, obviously light and maneuverable is the thing. So gun-wise, small is good: UZI, Mac 10/11, MP5K, P90, AKS74U, Skorpion, short M4, tactical shotgun etc. Keep in mind that some CQB sites are semi-auto only, and those that aren't may still have a semi-auto only rule at short ranges, so avoid anything that can't go semi-auto, such as the ASG STEN gun (well, not without modification anyway), which would otherwise be a good CQB choice. Also be aware that many small SMGs such as the UZI and the Skorpion have high rates of fire and comparatively small mags, which can easily leave you out of ammo at an awkward moment, whereas most things like an AEG MP5K or AEG AKS74U, will come with a high cap mag (typically something like 300 rounds), so there's less expense initially in not needing to buy spare mags straight away, and the likelihood is that the one high cap mag will last the entire fight without the need to reload. Most people and most guides will tell new players to not worry about a pistol until later, and whilst that is generally good advice, in CQB, a pistol is a good thing to have to hand, and you could even go pistol only at some small CQB sites. But, it being winter, gas blowback pistols can be iffy choices, since they can struggle to work well in cold temperatures, so if you are considering a pistol, then either a non-blowback gas one is a better choice, since they are cheaper and more efficient on gas, or more preferably, an electric semi-auto pistol, since they'll perform okay all-year-round whether it is hot or cold. At a push you can use a cheap cock and fire springer pistol, but it's slower and not ideal, although they do have the virtue of being reliable and inexpensive. A plastic knife is also a good thing for CQB, since although you can touch someone with your hand and say 'knife kill' at most sites, and it will count, one thing you cannot do is throw your hand, whereas obviously you can throw a plastic knife, and as with a BB, a hit anywhere on someone with a thrown knife will count as a kill. Make sure anything you do buy has a bendy plastic/rubber blade though, or you will not be able to use it. Similarly, grenades can be a game-changer in CQB. But be sure to check with your regular site as to which kind are permissible (typically that will be BFGs - blank firing grenades - but check anyway). they can be pricey, so make sure that if you do get one, you don't get one that is something you cannot use at your local site, for example, some pyro grenades cannot be used at sites where there is combustible material such as curtains in the place. If you get a tactical vest or webbing, be sure to get something that you can easily open and close the pouches on when it's cramped and dark (as it often is in CQB). Practicality wins over cool looks every time. Ebay and Amazon are the place to look for inexpensive ones. Worry about getting cool top notch crap later on. Get a small portable torch. You can mount a tac light on your weapon, and that's a good idea in CQB, but a small torch is also good to have for things like reloading and such. Make sure you wear full face protection and cover your neck, a helmet is good too, but a baseball cap will suffice. You will take more hits to the head than anywhere else in CQB, and at those kind of short ranges, even a sh*tty cheap springer pistol will fire a BB fast enough to smash a tooth out. An Arabian Keffiyah (shemagh) scarf will provide good neck protection, and you really do want to cover your neck, because a BB hit on your Adam's Apple will make your eyes water, and it will also draw blood. Take a small water bottle, even in winter you will dehydrate when running and diving about all over the place. Consider knee and elbow pads. CQB sites invariably have hard concrete floors, and that will hurt your knees if you kneel down behind cover. failing that, consider wearing long johns under your combat pants, they will help to stop hits hurting so much, will keep you warm in the present winter and will also provide additional protection from hit, bumps and bruises. Gloves are not a bad idea too. Your hands will take hits, since they are generally exposed to fire because you are holding your weapon with them, and a BB hit on the fingernail in cold weather will hurt like a motherf*cker. Any old thin leather gloves from a cheapy shop will do, but make sure they are a snug fit so that you can operate your weapon's safety catch easily. Hope some of that helps. You'll be an old hand in no time, but when it comes to buying gear, think carefully and don't let your heart rule your head. Almost everyone who starts out ends up buying some crap that they later don't use or regret having bought, so be sure to ask on this site if you are unsure about whether anything is a good or bad choice. Airsoft gear may not be free, but good advice is, and there is plenty available from the people on here. Have fun and enjoy it. It's a really cool hobby to have and one which will let you do many cool things.1 point

Popular UKARA Questions
BigBell1987 reacted to JerseyRider for a topic
These are taken straight from the UKARA website Q&A section/news feed. Use the find function of your browser (CTRL+F) to find what you are looking for if you do not wish to read this in it's entirety, but we would appreciate it if you did. This is to stop repeat questions appearing on the forum This guide has been compiled over a number of months, some of the information may no longer be valid or accurate, though we do try and update regularly. Please read thoroughly. A RIF or in other words a black gun requires you to be 18+ and have a valid defence. An IF or in other words a two-tone requires you to be 18+ only. I am a member of the Armed Forces can I buy a RiF? There are no exceptions to the legislation for members of any of the services, the crown servant section refers to purchase for the crown by crown servants not individuals. Service personnel are still required to become a member of an insured Airsoft Site or Club to be eligible to purchase RIF's. The same can be said for shotgun licences etc. they are not a valid defence. Due to service commitments I cannot play enough times when at home on leave to qualify/how quickly must I play the 3 games? The time period over which you have to play your 3 games is at the discretion of the participating game site providing the 3 games are not played in a time that is less than 2 months, the maximum time period is 12 months. I am under 18, can my parents buy me a RIF? Not unless they are members of one the approved purchasing groups, it would appear that there is no problem of a gift from an eligible purchaser to a minor. I am under 18 can, I buy an Imitation Firearm or "Two Tone"? No you cannot, an IF cannot be purchased by a person under 18 years of age. Who are UKARA? UKARA are a group of Airsoft retailers who have formed an association to protect their businesses and enable the sale of Realistic Imitation Firearms (RIF's), to the newly restricted recognised and approved customers resulting from the Violent Crime Reduction Act (VCRA). Why have they set up the UKARA Scheme? Under the new act it is the responsibility of the seller to verify that the purchaser is approved, and they may be prosecuted if they fail to do this with due diligence. How will the UKARA scheme do this? UKARA has set up an Independent Data Base which will be used to list eligible purchasers and allow UKARA retailer members to check sale recipients are bona fidi. Who are the eligible purchasers? The only groups of persons now allowed to purchase RIF's are Film, TV, Museums, Theatres, Crown Servants, and persons engaged in Re-enactement activities, and airsoft skirmishing. All these purchasers must be over 18 years of age. What must Re-enactment people and Airsoft players do to show the are bona fidi? Both these groups must show that their activities are covered by third party liability insurance and that they are over 18, in the case of Airsoft Players they must also show that they are regular players at an accredited game site. Which means they must be a member of a game site with the appropriate Airsoft Insurance cover. How do players become members of an approved game site and eligible to buy RIF's? The games site has to record you as a member and preferably issue you with a membership card. To qualify as an airsoft skirmisher you must be a regular player at that game site having attended not less than 3 times in not less than 2 months and no more than 12 months. Why the UKARA scheme? The UKARA scheme allows certified game sites to join a list on the UKARA web site to show they are participating in the UKARA scheme, this then means that they can approve UKARA player application forms, the game site having been registered and issued with a validating stamp and recognised signature. Why is this an advantage? If the player downloads a Player application form from the UKARA web site he can have this confirmed by his UKARA registered game site and then send it to any UKARA retailer with his first order, who will then enter the players details on the UKARA Data base. This then means that he can then order from any UKARA member retailer and providing he includes his UKARA game site numbers he can be verified and thus sold to. My game site is not on the UKARA game site list, can I still register with UKARA? No, if your game site is not on the UKARA list then you cannot get your player form validated, you would need to wait till your site joins, or go to a UKARA approved game site. Will UKARA use my personal information for other purposes? No, your information is protected under the DATA protection Act and may not be divulged to any third party unless authorised by you, if you are at any time unhappy you may have your details expunged from the record. It is only there to allow retailers to confirm you are eligible to purchase. Can I have my RIF sent to a different address? No, RIF's must be sent to the registered postal address of the player. How do I purchase from a UKARA dealer at their shop premises? If you take suitable ID such as a drivers license passport etc. along with your UKARA Players number the retailer can check that you are the registered buyer by checking the Data system. What do I do with my players application form? Once you are a member of a UKARA game site and have been a regular there for more than two months, having played at least 3 times, you can get your form verified and then send it off with your next order to a UKARA retailer. You will have to do this by post, and if your actual order is via the net or phone make sure you reference the two together, posting a day in advance of your order would probably also help. Your form can also be sent to a Core or Associate retailer as it makes no difference, though please do not post directly to the UKARA Admin. When they process your order they can add you to the Database, and once this has been done you can order from any UKARA retailer quoting your UKARA site membership number. Please remember RIF's can only be sent to your registered address. Why don't UKARA change the law concerning painting and purchasing of Imitation and Realistic airsoft guns? UKARA is a retailers association and although we did put forward our views to the Government of the day when the Violent Crime Reduction Bill was being drafted we did not get all our ideas accepted and ultimately we did not draft the bill nor have any ability to change the current Act only Government can make and revise UK law. I am under 18 can I own an Airsoft gun and play airsoft? There is no legal restriction to the ownership or use of an airsoft gun whether RiF or IF related to age you may not purchase a RiF or an IF if you are under the age of 18. There is no restriction other than game site own rules and insurance cover as to the age of a player of Airsoft. Can my parent buy me an airsoft gun? They can buy an IF but not a RiF unless they are a member of an insured game site, although if you are under 18 you can be given or win a RIF or IF. Is a red tipped, or camo painted gun legal to import as an IF? No to class as an IF a gun must be 51% government approved bright colour or clear see through plastic. Accepted bright colours are: - Bright red - Bright orange - Bright blue - Bright yellow - Bright green - Bright pink - Bright purple Could you give me more information on how to obtain a Airsoft licence? There is no such thing as an Airsoft License (or A "UKARA") you can become a member of an insured game site and if appropriate register through that game site onto the UKARA database. If I/I have/I am going to, import from Hong Kong, USA, etc will Customs impound my gun? If you cannot prove that you are an eligible importer the Boarder Agency will impound and destroy your import without compensation, if you are an eligible importer e.g. a member of an insured airsoft game site, (and UKARA registration helps a great deal) make sure that you have clear information put on/with your import proving your eligibility. I want to buy RiFs not to play Airsoft but to use in my back garden or hang on the wall? The VCRA was expressly designed to eliminate RiFs from the UK, Airsoft players only got a "Special Defence" because they proved that they needed them for the realistic element in playing Airsoft. I have changed my registration details e.g. moved or a different email address what should I do? Your first course of action is to contact the game site that you are registered with as a member, tell them of your change of address or other details and ask them to update you on their own records and on the database, to which they should have access through their own players section. Hopefully this answers some of the questions that keep coming up.1 point -
