First Aid Kits
Jacob Wright and 3 others reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
People should absolutely have the confidence to crack on with chest compressions without formal training, similarly, maintaining an airway. With an unresponsive casualty, to stand by due to a lack of confidence may hasten their death/increase the likelihood that they end up with severe brain injury through oxygen starvation. To have a go and do you best may just mean that they are in a state that when professional/qualified/equipped care turns up, they can do something useful. Of course the gold standard is to get some training, and frankly i find it astonishing how few people do - especially when the overwhelming likelihood is that it is a family member or a good mate that is the person in desperate need for first aid from you. Re. one the the above points - agree that motorcycle helmets should be removed - but only if essential to perform immediately necessary first aid - e.g. to maintain an airway and/or to perform CPR. In the example above, if the person is still talking then it wouldn't be necessary to remove the helmet. There is a correct way to do so in order to minimise neck/spinal movement. The trick is to work down the priorities of first aid - Airway, Breathing, Circulation (yes i know its more nuanced than that, but for the purpose of this thread...!) i.e. - if the airway is blocked - you MUST do something about it (i.e. clear it, get the casualty into a position where it is cleared and unobstructed). If they are not breathing/oxygenated blood getting to the brain you MUST do something about it (i.e. chest compressions + mouth to mouth if you are comfortable/able). If there is a catastrophic (i.e. arterial) bleed, you MUST do something about it (i.e. direct or indirect compression). There are right and wrong ways of going about these actions, as well as ways which would minimise the likelihood for causing secondary long term complications/injuries, but everyone must still have a go after first calling for help - unless there is someone better able with you that can perform those immediate actions more effectively. Example, a motorcyclist is unconscious and unresponsive. After ascertaining this, you remove his helmet in order to open up his airway and perform CPR. In the process, it later turns out that you have exacerbated a spinal injury and the person is paralysed. He is, however, alive and with a functioning mental state - you having maintained a supply of oxygenated blood to his brain until the ambulance arrived equipped with a defib etc. The alternative scenario, you look on, paralysed into inaction as you are concerned about something you read on the internet about never removing a motorcyclists helmet/a nonsense sticker on the helmet itself stating the same thing; the person is pronounced dead at the scene when medical care does turn up, and you spend the rest of your life wondering whether you could have made a difference for that bloke and his family! Appreciate that this is all a little emotive and heavy a subject, but i do think it is rather important. Perfect excuse for people to book themselves onto a first aid course/get your workplace to do so at their expense!4 points -

TRMR Stolen.
Colin Allen and one other reacted to pedro for a topic
i play at the site where the op lost his grenade although i wasn't there that particular evening according to the marshals that i have asked about this specific situation, and the op can correct me if im wrong, the grenade was deployed in a place where there aren't any dark holes or nooks and crannys for it to disappear into. so seemingly a clear case of stealing rather than misplacing2 points -
Riddle me this: what happens when a site declares that it's going into lockdown and nobody is leaving until the thief hands over the stolen TRMR. ... when the "stolen" TRMR just rolled into a dark spot somewhere on site? Don't get me wrong, things do get stolen and I'd be happy to see thieves' hands removed. But before you go depriving people of liberty, you need to be sure of the situation, and consider the endgame. You're shopping at Tesco, and the tannoy blares "Mrs Miggins says she can't find her purse that was definitely in her bag when she came in, maybe, so we're locking the doors and nobody is leaving until you've all been searched." Reasonable? 🤷♂️2 points

First Aid Kits
Gryph and one other reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
In my view, on game days no need for anything more than a couple of plasters and a wide roll of zinc oxide/fabric tape in the safezone for those annoying cuts and grazes; anything more major (field dressings/eye washes etc) should be able to be supplied by the first aid kits legally required to be held by the site. Kits for cars, walking, life etc are another thing - i personally have medical scissors, a large field dressing + tourniquet in each car; and a personal first aid kit for weekends in the woods, walking etc with the above+ more dressings (tip - eye pads are great for cut fingers), fabric tape, saline for eyes, quick clot packing tape, and a resuscitation mouth seal thingy to make vom covered mouths more palatable.... I'm afraid In my view this is nonsense. You should always always have a go, and do what you think will help, unless there is someone better experienced/qualified available immediately to take over. The law will protect you (in this country) if you have done your best and what a reasonable person would have done. We aren't in America, where things might, sadly, turn out rather differently. I for one would find it a struggle to maintain any degree of self respect if i passed someone by that needed help just because i was afraid of a theoretical legal action from aggrieved relatives. I'm sure the (UK) statistics of success of such actions of that nature will back the point up.2 points -
I'm assuming this is a cunning way they are sneaking around the 'anything gun shape purges' the site frequently does. has anyone got expeience with them? https://www.aliexpress.com/store/912499189?spm=a2g0o.detail.0.0.1a41kgwHkgwH7C hesitation because, if they just send some screws.... then it wouldnt necessarily be false advertising according the aliexpress...1 point

Possibly You'd be surprised, I've seen theiving little shits do some really dumb shit and try to talk their way out of it only to dig themselves into a deeper hole. That does sound like a good idea but if I saw someone nosing around at my gear without knowing what they're up to I'd be asking questions. Unfortunately there's no perfect answer to this senario but as long as the site is seen to be doing something that's the important thing. As you (I think it was you) posted in another thread, if nothing is done the only lesson learned is that there's no consequences1 point -
Nice, currently looking for one myself, preferably UK based given my ongoing struggles with border force. And I forgot to upload a pic of my beast as I said I would... Will dig it out tonight when I get home from work1 point

how difficult would this be to make for airsoft
TheFull9 reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
This. Everyone moans about how new rifs are so often "just another M4" but manufacturers know that's what will sell in high enough numbers to make it worth their while. I'd hazard a guess that of all the people who say they like whatever new non M4 rif is available, less than 10% actually buy one1 point -

One would guess that people would be within their rights to use "reasonable force" to end their false imprisonment, but how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go? No organisation/person has the right to detain anyone without good cause (see section 24A again), and I doubt any of the examples above would constitute a good cause. Your casino would probably have justified their actions solely because of the police being en-route, but ultimately they got away without trouble from the people because of the nature of crowds (very interesting video on that recent on YouTube - link a the bottom). Also the security people there would have been licensed and therefore trained in what they can get away with, but they have no more powers than you or I and can only detain someone for a "reasonable" amount of time using minimal force, and specifically relating to a crime. No airsoft site would get away with it unless they caught the thief red handed.1 point -

Ah ok, let you off - as you were trying to develop, not play the games...😜 There is lots of money on the platform. But it's bloody hard to be 'proper' successful. I'm actually flying out to San Francisco next week with my (18yr old) son for the Roblox Developers Conference - he is a legit Roblox Developer (Gameplay mechanics coding) working for one the main Roblox 'partner' firms. Took him years to get to the point where he could make anything other than pocket money from it. But he now earns nearly double my salary.....😩1 point -

Well the site could be in some big doo doo's. Even the police have limitations on what they can do in terms of detention, and I doubt that extends to holding 80+ people in an area on the say so of some rando. It's all under section 24A of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, and I doubt very much the casino would be covered if anyone expressed a desire to leave.1 point -

Alrighty so a bit of an update on my MWS DMR build m. Started off as a banged up second hand CQBR, and is now a URGI-ish bb slinger. I’ve made the following modifications: eagle6 upgraded nozzle return spring Poseidon ice pick high flow valve mapleleaf MR bucking 60 SixG super Nub 14.5 inch 6.03 Laylax inner barrel zparts mk16 DD steel outer barrel zparts 13inch geissele hand guard magpul MOE+ pistol grip magpul CTR stock VFC BCM grip Olight Odin It’s doing around 300-310 fps on .40 BBs on green gas. Happy with the results so far and don’t think I could squeeze and more out of it ! Anyone else have success with DMR builds ?1 point -
Oddly enough - our resus team state not to bother with the breaths being that there's enough residual o2 in the blood stream to sustain and ultimately keeping blood flow is the main priority, but then again our training is based on the fact we have a crash bag with air delivery options available and we have to wear ffp3 masks which prevents us being able to mouth to mouth anyway.1 point

Just as a counter. I've been using re usables for over 10 years, I've gone through at least 400 primers in that time and have 2 (had 3) reusable grenades. Never had one stolen and having done the maths have saved over £1000 in pyro costs for it AND I still have 2 bfgs that I could resell. Once at a game I threw it, 3 marshalls saw where it was and when I went to collect it at the end of the game, it wasn't there. The marshalls called it out loud and said nobody was leaving until it was found....it was miraculously found about 20 metres away, outside on a barrel. Likely had been stolen and dumped when they realised the marshalls weren't just going to ignore it. Even if it had been stolen, the return on the investment Vs pyro have been so good I couldn't talk them down. Theft does happen, but sensible use and follow up can mitigate the risk and the savings Vs disposable are so big that even if you account for it being stolen every 100 throws it's still worth it.1 point -

Yes, a small one in an LBX pouch. I have even sewn the top bellows part closed on the pouch to stop it flopping about - this would all fit in a combat trouser pocket easy. Plasters Compeed Paracetamol x4 Nurofen x4 Asprin x1 Immodium x4 Saline wash pods x2 4” burn dressing Eye dressing x2 Z-fold gauze Tweezers Tick Key Gloves 4” Israeli bandage, outer removed (still in inner vacpac - can use for chest seal) External: Shears Roll of electrical tape Enough to treat the main ailments - hangover, dodgy footware and under cooked burgers 🤢 Burnshield dressing for pyro users not good at the counting… Gauze can be used to pack serious wounds, at junctions and on limbs - much more useful than a TQ. You just need to poke it in with a finger 😳 One plea from me: get some basic training (FA at Work, StJohns, Red ross) and DON’T BUY FAKE TORNIQUETS FROM EBAY!!!! 😂1 point

Low power ‘hit’ - bounce or direct hit?
Gryph reacted to ghostwalker for a topic
A funny one was at a game a while back. I was set up shooting and suddenly I feel a smack in my back. This is accompanied by my mate Robin cackling like a loon from the dead zone. I had called hit and challenged him on it to which he laughed some more. At this point I was miffed and shouted 'I ain't taking a hit from a dead player'. Turned to re-engage in the game and quickly felt another smack iny back. This time accompanied by a 'sorry mark and chuckle'. What I had thought was my mate in the dead box was airsoft camman laying about 15 metres away much to my mates amusement. Called the hit, took the walk of shame and ended up in one of his short videos as 'this guy thought his mate was shooting him'. In my defence its exactly what my mate would normally do given half a chance. I like most of you have called hits in the past from rain drops, twigs and other random none bb related whacks.1 point -

Low power ‘hit’ - bounce or direct hit?
Gryph reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
Nobody said you are, although I'm sure that's what someone who doesn't call their hits would say 😁 As others have posted, if in doubt just call it. You're only going to be out of the game for as long as it takes to walk to respawn. Just because a shot feels like it doesn't have much power behind it or comes from an unexpected angle doesn't mean it's a ricochet. A sniper or sneaky player could've gotten into a position where they can put fire down from another angle and you assuming the shot was a ricochet is almost asking to be shot again, often to a more sensitive bodypart and/or with a longer burst1 point -
Why the sudden hype?

Probably something to do with the fact that the KWA MP9 is out of stock everywhere and everybody just wants a GBB-thingy that they can actually get their hands on brand-new. Plus MP9 owners can now get alright mags for cheap, so it's a win-win despite how ugly the thing is.1 point -

I took a hit at a Gunman game only to be told on my walk back to respawn that the game hadn't started yet. Must have been something falling from a tree that I felt. Of course no one found it amusing...1 point -
As said if in doubt take the hit. Only call a ricochet if you are absolutely sure it is. I am pretty damn sure i have taken water drops as hits, as unless your 100% you didn't get hit take the hit.1 point
-
If in doubt...give a shout👍 So you may have to take a walk to your respawn or dead zone or even take yourself out of play for 5mins. It's not the end of the world. But consider that the sniper who hit you from a distance saw the hit even if it had the impact of a tap on the shoulder. Don't be the one that the marshalls have a quiet word with. 🙂 Regards1 point
