AEG shoots at 0.5J on 11.1v battery, but 1.1j on 7.4v. Why?
SSPKali and one other reacted to Speedbird_666 for a topic
Pure guess: Tappet timing. The nozzle is not returning forward fast enough for the next cycle of the gears causing a huge airleak around the hop unit. Lower voltage battery means that the gears are rotating slower to complete the firing cycle giving the nozzle time to seat itself in the hop unit before the piston (thus air) is released. It's become a common issue on KWA guns but in theory could apply to other manufacturers. You can test by turning the gun upside down and placing a small square of tissue over the hop unit feed inlet. if the tissue is blown upwards when firing on an 11.1, yet not (or to a much lesser extent) on a 7.4, there's a good chance that could be your issue. If that's the case, make sure that the you remove any sector gear delay chips, replace your tappet spring and make sure your tappet is lubed on the rails, moving freely and in good condition. I'm sure others will chip in with alternate possibilities.2 points -

lol, I've just been editing the shots of mine literally a couple of minutes ago. I don't know how many years I'd wanted one, was back before they had adjustable hop, but even when the A1 came out I held off as it was a pure 'want' since I had 2 of the 226s already which are all you'd need in a skirmishing sidearm. After waiting so many years though I'd saved enough to say 'fair enough' on the buy and I have to say it's one of TMs best lookers imho. Between Die Hard and The Matrix (just for starters) and tons of games I think it's one of the most iconic handguns there is is for anyone between about 25 and 50 probably, but I rarely see them anywhere on forums/socials or at games for whatever reason. Which is weird when I think back as I had to setup a stock alert at F-S as they don't seem to be in stock anywhere that much, at least from what I've seen myself. Then again I suppose it's neither super modern nor historic and there's very little if anything you can do to change them, plus the A1 isn't actually the famous variant looks wise, but to me it has 99% of the aesthetic I love, it's got plenty of gas capacity and just the little bit of rail adds a lot of functionality vs the smooth dust cover. Like for me having the Blackhawk omnivores it totally eliminates an entire holster purchase, plus the obvious easy light mounting. Whether the metal ones like the WE are any good I don't know, they're probably a more appealing purchase for many but I'd pit the stock TM performance against the lower priced metal versions with a fair bit of confidence. My personal experience has been that the slightly increased at-home-handling satisfaction of the metal vs plastic vanishes rapidly in the face of actual getting in game. Personally I've lost count of the number of pistols I've seen doing the death putt-putt, just venting the whole mag or only shooting 10m; but everyone's experience will naturally vary. Just crossing my fingers for an A4 version now as that'd be different enough to warrant a purchase while also sharing the mags. Probably slim odds though, haven't seen much in the way of sneak peeks on upcoming pistols the past couple of years.1 point -

Any knife guys out there?

Evening, just wondering if there are any knife guys kicking about? Got an old Al Mar SERE Attack 3003A that I'm wanting to get a rough value on and part with, but wouldn't have a clue who to go to or where. In good condition with a few small marks here and there, never been sharpened to my knowledge. Its the rarer version with 'De Oppresso Liber' marked on the handle. I'll include some pics below if that helps. Thanks in advance!1 point -

Negative Airsoft has had to deal with a stack of KWA's with low power on 11.1v LiPos. There's a video on his Patreon with the 'fix' for the problem. You will need to add a bushing onto the Tappet spring guide to increase the spring tension, and you might also have to cut the tappet fin down (DSG style) so it will release earlier in the firing cycle to get nozzle moving forward earlier. If you cut the fin down - remove the delayer chip as well. I intend to do the same mods on my my KWA once I notice any kind of power drop. I take no credit for the info above - if this helps you fix your gun - please consider signing up to Negative Airsoft's Patreon for a fiver a month, even just for one month. There's loads of information in his longer-form videos that you won't see in his standard youtube releases.1 point -
Please stop this. M O D I F I C A T I O N. See if you can find anyone who will ever care though. @Wegalaxy, while it's commendable that you're being careful, there is such a thing as inventing problems where none exist. If you're in the UK, and if your use of whatever toy you have is on (properly) private land, then nobody is ever going to care what you're doing, or with what, or how you got / made it. On the other hand, if you're going to run around the local dogging woods reenacting John Wick, then it won't matter if your toy is 0%, 49%, 51% or 100% orange.1 point

They'll have had an email with the contents of your reply I expect? if they've read that, it answers their question and they've decided it doesn't need a reply then there's no incentive to log on here and read it again. Still begs the question of why they decided a response wasn't needed. Personally I'd reply with a 'thanks but no thanks' kind of reply, because that's the courteous thing to do.1 point -

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Stillers80 reacted to rj1986 for a topic
Sun's out - guns out. First game out for the year on Saturday at the soon to be closed for 2 years (HS2) at RIFT Comsite 3. Lots of people for this event, but unfortunately this hindered the game, as the site has got smaller the car park has got smaller, and the day basically was who can run to the choke-points fastest and who had the best hop up unit as it became 6 hours of out ranging each other. People setting up in buildings and playing pop up pirate all day. And with an LMG and the single shot rule, made it a long day. First time using the MK46, and the overpriced mag shit itself during chrono. Luckily it was a gear coming off the motor and once i popped it back on, was good to go. Short review of the gun - it gets out ranged by a few (new hop rubber on order), its lower on FPS than most as its JP standard, the mag is picky with ammo and misfeeds a wee bit and the fact its not auto winding is a mystery to me. And its heavy. I'm not a small bloke, in fact in the winter i dabble in powerlifting, and I was broken on the Sunday. But not one gun I've own has been more fun, got more compliments or had people ask to have a go. I love it, and wish there were more like it. If TM released an m240 version, I would be there with the deeds to my house as a down payment.1 point -

Wherabouts are you? I see you're considering Reforger, I have playted there a couple of times, it's not bad. If it's not much further from you I can highly recommend Red Alert Airsoft Newbury. Speaking of..... Back to Red Alert yesterday, for a day of silly easter games. Escort the bunny, build a bomb out of easter eggs, Buggernaught, etc... Loads of fun. The weather was excellent, lunch was good as always, and I don't think I heard a single grumble about hit taking all day. My back gave up again, so didn't play much in the afternoon, and my QRF seems to have developed a piston leak I'll need to take a look at. But overall a bloody ace day of stupidity. Added to this, we finally got the custom patches for our... well, it's not a team, just a collective of idiots who play together sometimes, The Outcasts. The Scottish division of Outcasts came down from Glasgow for the weekend and had a blast at Red Alert. James particularly enjoyed handling my Pulse Rifle (Ooer). As you can see by my headgear, the Outcasts take Airsoft super seriously. @GAMBLE @Gloombones1 point -

A good day out at Special Ops again on Sunday... an unexpected trip as I had family coming over from the New York, but their plans just happened to leave the day clear for me. Yay I took my new CA Scarab for it's first outing, but when I went to chrono it I realised I'd picked up the Nuprol high-cap instead of a Lonex flash mag. Stupidly, rather than backing out of the chrono test and going back to get a Lonex mag, I pulled out the nub I was using to shim the mag well so I could fit the Nuprol in. This rendered the gun useless for the 3 Lonex mags because I had nothing to glue it back in with Anyway, that left me with Ol Faithful, and the TM AUG HC. Everyone loves the AUG I only used it for the end of the day when I'd used up the Titan battery in the DE again... but which coincided with the marshals deciding to run the games in small areas, so semi-auto only. Which doesn't play to the gun's strengths. In fact it does show a weakness in that it doesn't feel like it enjoys being spam-fired in single repeatedly, and the selector bolt is easy to nudge into a neutral position. I'll stick the DE M906 for that in future. A few of the defensive positions have been altered since the last game, some of the cover has been removed from the church and tank areas in Ping Ping, which will probably help attackers in the future. Two things of note: One of the regulars has a technically impressive HPA setup. He was complaining that someone had complained at him for getting lit up full-auto. Turns out he was shooting at 40rps. He justified it saying "just because I can afford a good gun and he can't doesn't mean I should worry about trying to use half second bursts" (conveniently ignoring he can program his trigger to fire 3 round bursts, as he'd demonstrated on a previous day) and "I could be a cunt and turn it up to 60(rps)" Well to be honest pal, you're already being a cunt at 40 rounds a second. That's the sort of attitude that gives HPA'ers a bad name. A chap showed up with an Ares L41A1 (Lee Enfield 7.62 sniper). Oh that is a thing of beauty.... I definitely want one some day. The bolt action is smooth and is the most satisfying feel of any spring rifle I've tried so far (a small sample size, admittedly). Lovely gun, but heavy. And as the owner mentioned, the stock is so beautifully finished you really wouldn't want to get it scratched or dinged by BBs, and it'll be painful when it happens. Lovely bit of kit though 😍1 point -
Well, as i cant stand threads that just die off and no one knows what happened.....this happened.... I bought the M4 conversion piece (aliexpress, was about £8 and is 3d printed) and fitted it. The M4 tube mounting screw was about 10mm too long but an M6 nut and a couple of washers and jobs a good un. While i was doing that, i did actually cut his original stock down and with some M4 countersunk bolts, a bit of plate and some swearing, i managed to cut about 12cm off and remount the shoulder part. I'll get some pics tonight when i get home from work but he's a happy chap again. So happy that he bought an MP5. KIDS!!!!!1 point

TM FNX45 Metal Slide -- Volante
k.a reacted to Mobius Strip for a topic
I have fitted one. Although I have not fitted the Marui red dot personally, the area does look the same once the slide is fitted. I did also get this from Kim at Volante during my purchase. "I recommend to use it with RMR mountable aluminium housing as original FNX can't mount RMR size sights." I would email Kim at Volante if you have any questions as he is absolutely brilliant to deal with and I always find him helpful. The slide itself went on with minimal fitting. Certainly well made with good tolerances. There is a lack of full markings on the right of the slide. Better that than the wrong markings I guess. Metal RMR cover and sights would have been a nice extra. Recoil impulse has improved. I can still empty a full mag, rapid firing with no adverse cool down effect which is good enough for me. The obvious comparison has to be made with the Cybergun/VFC version of course. I made some mods to mine which need to be taken in to account. My VFC versions have the same internal upgrades: Azimuth lightweight blowback housing and nozzle. (This improves gas efficiency at the expense of a small amount of recoil impulse as I found the standard set up started to suffer cool down effects by the end of the mag if the gun was rapid fired). Marui HOP rubber, I key and inner barrel. (Standard set up was terrible). Guns Modify 125% recoil spring (for Glock 17) which is just a bit weaker than standard but fitted in conjunction with the lighter blowback housing to help fight cooldown. Handling both brands shows a similar weight and feel. No extreme size differences to note. Firing them both side by side shows similar FPS with green gas. VFC has the edge on recoil. VFC has better trademarks. Marui HOP beats VFC hands down. Fantastic stock unit, not even on halfway and lifts .30s with ease. VFC has a few minor QC 'foibles', most of which can be dealt with. There are many other details but the bottom line is the Marui version is a better skirmish gun out of the box (or with the metal slide) but the VFC has the edge on details. Once modified it does bring them closer. Different people want different things out of a gun but I feel the perfect FNX would be a hybrid of both. I hope this helps 🙂1 point -
AEG shoots at 0.5J on 11.1v battery, but 1.1j on 7.4v. Why?
Rogerborg reacted to Vendivorex for a topic
Hi all, Just a quick one as I really can't figure this out. So today on site, while my AEG was being chrono'd, it came out too hot at 1.3J (my site limit is 1.14J. It had an m120 spring inside, so I quickly changed the Spring to a 110. When I came back, there was a significant power drop to 0.5J. I couldn't work it out at all and decided to use my back up rifle. When I got home I had a look on my own chrono and got the same result, yet when I swapped the batteries over (from 11.1v to 7.4v) the power jumped back up to 1.1J. The batteries have the same ampage and C output, so I am stumped. Any ideas why the power drop using 11.1v? Both batteries were fully charged.0 points -
It could be a bit late ….. but if parts are still in a bath of chemicals keep a good eye on it all Back in the mists of time I was planning to repaint model soldiers which had been drowned in paint by someone else I dutifully tested some and all was good, paint softened and could be brushed off with no effect on the figures Then I put them into a bath of thinner (in the garden to be wise about fumes() and stepped away …. After a couple of hours the thinner was looking like soup, I reached in and lifted out sagging moulten figures ……0 points
