I put grey but why not have a mix? The black would look better with some silver pen wear. (Paint silver onto your finger and rub it on the edges) Likewise the grey one would benefit from some darkening in the grooves.2 points

Had another great day at Worthing today. It was pretty chilly, but it was dry so I could actually use my m700! People always say gas rifles are crap in the cold, but today I had to put a smaller gas router into the bolt as it was chronoing a bit hot on green gas! Ended up on red gas with a narrower router and it was between 2 - 2.2J, so exactly where I needed it. I was fortunate enough not to run into too many cheaters which was nice, but my friends said there were a few out there I also contributed to someone throwing their toys out of the proverbial pram. They kept coming back to the same spot and I kept on sniping them every single time they went there and they had no idea where I was due to my ghillie and good choice of firing position combined with the fact the gas m700 makes basically no noise whatsover. They then got angry, blindfired around a corner... right into a marshall's face, who then had a good stern word with them while they had a temper tantrum. I was watching the whole thing through my scope The fact that it was dry all day until a brief shower in the afternoon meant it was a fantastic day for me. It has been really wet the past few game days, and the game days before that I was either injured (inflamed nerve in my head giving me a headache as soon as I did anything mildly active, followed by a strained foot after I took a tumble on my daily run) or still working out the m700 setup I want. Today was the first day I had the m700 where I wanted it and also was able to play the whole day and I'm super happy that I did. Roll on next game day!2 points

Many many thanks 😎 I love the RG one a ton I have to say haha. I think for most folks here there's 2 lines in the world dividing the retailers; the atlantic and then the channel. Having retail options in the US, UK and France means most folks who are actually interested can now pay the price they'd expect vs doing some maths and adding a whole ton of shipping and tax costs themselves, which I'd estimate is what irks most people the largest amount. It's a shame what the base price has to be compared to what Americans pay of course, but that's sadly entirely unavoidable. I actually changed the package to the NT version for AG Tac so they wouldn't have to buy the Tubes and sell it at a truly insane price; and that version may become the standard offering in future for more flexibility. Anyway hope it plugs in nicely with your current gear and serves you well, which I'd be confident it will and I'll welcome your thoughts once you get it and try it out. Drop me a line some time.1 point

The Specna is not an Ares clone, it is an Ares. Specna do not make rifs. I even read somewhere that under the Specna trades which are stuck on are the Ares / Umarex HK Licensed trades. I have the tan Umarex one and the polymer feels great and the ebb is fun, though can be easily decommissioned if desired.1 point

Great decision, g36 platform is a joy The JG is super solid, but as you say is quite high in price for a budget gun, the base Cyma and high speed are both great too. Another option to look at is the specna arms ones, they're an Ares clone with ebb, not exactly TM spec but there's plenty of parts out there too.1 point

Ima throw these around on the field a few times first before I start making them fancy. Thats one of the major benefits of having your own printer - you can make a new shell for like 2 quid or something. If they hold up I may look into making them look more visually accurate.1 point -

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Khyber reacted to Colin Allen for a topic
Today saw a return to Airsoft Plantation, near Braintree in Essex, for my son's first game since September 2022. A cold morning saw probably about 150 people getting ready in the excellent safe zone; however, I always wonder why some players leave it to the last minute to arrive As usual, the safety briefing was concise, to the point and genuinely amusing. Immediately afterwards, the first game was briefed but then had to be changed to allow for a newly fallen tree to be made safe. The schedule for the day was shuffled around with no fuss. Airsoft Plantation do not chrono guns; chronos are available on the range and players are informed that it is their responsibility to ensure that their weapons are under the limit. There is a lot of spot checking and anyone using a hot gun is "asked" to leave the site. The games were well designed and well marshalled and generally played in a gentlemanly but competitive manner; there were a few allegations of non hit taking on both sides, but no more than would normally be expected. At one point, in a squad based game, we did hear two nearby squads (one from each side) being instructed by a marshal to disengage and fall back in order to reduce tension; this seemed to be well handled by the marshal involved. The games ran well, were challenging and were fun, although my view may be biased by our side (blue) winning all of them, despite an attempt to balance the teams. Overall, my son and I had an excellent day; next stop is Camp Anzio, near Leek. Weapons used: Me: Ares VZ58, PTS Masada (AK version), Milbro Classic M1911 CO2 Son: LCT AKMS, G&G AKM, ASG Commander XP18 CO2 Shared: JG G3A3 (first run out since being bought and upgraded)1 point -

Collecting Gen 1 ECWCS Parkas, are fairly common on the UK market. As well as copies of varying quality. Larger sizes in good condition tend to be pricey. Helikon copy in Olive The matching trousers don’t seem to have be used that often and can be picked up cheaply in nearly new state. M65 liners are very common and modern reproductions are about £35 for a jacket. The genuine ECWCS ones style are not much more but uncommon and the clones work fine. The polypro underwear is readily available, not expensive. I’ve found sets still packaged. Fibrepile jacket pocket layout. The fibrepile is pretty rare in Europe. I don’t have the original bib (pants) and use a SPEAR set. If you find a jacket it’s likely to be expensive. They were/are quite sort after by hunters and bush folks in the US and don’t really show up over here. Might be a stock pile in Germany somewhere. I’ve yet to see it show up on Ukrainian troops. 😉1 point -

Couple more of my matching(ish) pairs. First up is my Samson B-TM with a Ruger MK4 style AAP. And then a recent one that I think is finished now, a G&P WA system Semi only SR15 and Airsoft Masterpiece Infinity 2011. The SR15 handles beautifully and the old school roller bolt makes a glorious noise! Yes, I’m aware it’s got a MP5 mag in it… necessary evil for us Sodastream Ghostbuster players1 point -
Site looks pretty legit, I think I'd be more worried about thread compatibility. When I used to sell these mlok and nsr rails I had nothing but issues with them. In the end I was lucky to stumble across a manufacturer who did a barrel nut with 2 different threads.1 point

Had a Tm mp7 GBBR for about 7 years, still completely stock internally other than the inner barrel and hop rubber (hop rubber was wear and tear) mags can be leaky after a while, but gasket seal around the baseplate sorts this, all my original 6 mags work perfectly still , the 2 i bought a few years later are fine without any sealer, range and accuracy has always been great, can compete with most full size rifles. maintenance wise, it does need a clean every now and then, but once you get the hang of this its fairly simple. ive used green gas and abbey Brut sniper gas for years with no issues, did run a couple of mags with propane right at the start, but it didn’t seem necessary issues wise mine has a sleepy trigger thats only just turned up, haven't had it apart to check it out yet but should be easy enough to fix. overall it has been a firm favourite for years, often I've chosen to use it instead of my Ghk for longer events,1 point

Been working on more EPM-1S shells, this time to make them look like M16 VN 20 round mags. Can be printed in one piece, with no additional hardware needed. As close to plug and play as I have come with a design as of yet. V1 was an attempt at adapting my 417 EPM-1S to fit, and was dropped early. V2 was a shell to test general fit. V3 fixed the internal dimensions to allow the EPM-1S to slide in fully - the print failed at about the 85% mark but it still allowed me to test dimensions so I still count it as a success. V4 was the initial "production" model, with the appropriate slots in the mag to make it look like a VN mag. A bottom floorplate was added for the EPM-1S bolt and plunger. The mag catch recession was shrunken to fit within the slots. After printing I confirmed V4 is a working model and I could stop there, but there were a few small details to be added. These included moving the bolt hole 1.9mm forward to align better with the hole in the mag itself, and the plunger recession was modified to fit the more ovular nature of the plunger. V4 in my N23: V4 next to a standard EPM-1S: Left to right, V2, V3, V4: V4 between a VN 20 round mag and a standard 30 round mag:1 point -

"Downed Airman" Vietnam kit is just about done - close enough to share at least. I still need a faithful shotshell pouch and due to the EPM-1S mags being taller than standard 20 rounders I need to either get 30 round mag pouches or general small arms mag pouches - still undecided on those. Also waiting for helmet parts to arrive - some missing bolts, fresh straps and foam, etc but none of that is visible so itll look the same as it does now. Ill actually play with it with the visor up and proper eyepro instead, but for pics visor down is Ace.1 point -
I realise you mentioned the TM, but I’ve got a Gen 2 Umarex/VFC which has been running like a train since I got it. It’s probably had 10k rounds through it totally stock, and apart from the stock catch needing replacing (common fault as the metal used is pants, but the replacement is steel and costs very little). There were some teething issues on the first version, but the Gen 2’s are solid. Gas efficiency is solid, with a fill giving about two to three mags before needing to be refilled. In -5°C it was still running crisply on semi with Ultrair. The Gen 2’s come with an NPAS installed so you can tune it to the conditions too. As an added bonus the VFC is 1:1 whereas the TM’s aren’t.1 point

https://www.wgcshop.com/collections/new-arrivals/products/tm-rd-mtd I always found the pro sight interesting in terms of being the only red dot I know in existence that's designed to be resilient to bbs right out of the box. This isn't apparently but comes with the protector you need in the package which is the main thing. Very much the standard type style/design for Holosuns and Sig optics these days so doesn't scream airsoft aesthetically. Presumably good to go on rattle-y guns like the MWS given the price - that's what I'd expect from a TM production anyway. Whether it uses standardised T-1 mounting holes so that you can use 1000 different mount options remains to be seen.1 point
