    Problem selling a rif

Normally I'd get all <ackchually> over this, but just for once I'm going to take a higher level view: OP lost a sale and created this drama through being overly paranoid, because nobody cares. Police forces and Trading Standards don't care. Nobody is enforcing this. No private seller is ever, in practice, going to be asked to provide a defence. Even if they were, there are no standards for it. A simple declaration by the buyer about the intended use would satisfy the letter of the law. UKARA, and all equivalent schemes, are suggestive, not prescriptive. Given any evidence that the buyer is a regular airsoft player, I'd have no qualms at all about selling to them. Oh, and nobody is going to care about GDPR complaints either. Not while there are feelings being hurt on Facebook.

I don't post often, but I've been lured out of hiding to say; BigBell, are you really sure you want Airsoft to be any more hardcore? Given that you wear lower face, that kind of suggests it's a bit too hardcore for you as it is.

even if we discount the amount of editing in the videos, there's going to be varying levels of response to a given hit from different players. different pain responses (eg if someone's used to paintball), different experience (eg a newer player who doesn't know how much a given bb hit should or should not sting) and different encounters (eg if they mistake it for a much closer player, although in fairness that argument applies to any sniper) it is true that a-holes gonna a-hole, but we could do without our *shudder* "ambassadors" *shudder* painting a picture of airsoft as a sport that encourages some of the stuff he does. as always we must factor in every denominator; sure if you're an experienced player with an established sense of sportsmanship then yes you could watch hyped up clickbait knowing full well it's not representative of the reality of the game, but imagine little timmy asks his mum if he can go airsofting, who then goes on the facetubes to see what the deal is only to presented with "airsoft cheetar shot in the balls with 500fps sniper rifle [super painful][instant karma] [he regretted it]"? to put it another way, enough people are influenced by this sort of thing to keep the classifieds well stocked with whatever novritches latest product is, and those cost actual money......

But only one is going to leave a horrible smell on you, your clothes and on anything you brought with you (dont worry, I feel the same over cigarettes, though weed seems to be much stronger smelling for longer distances). Maybe edibles would help, to spare those around you? And while im ranting on drug use, why do vapers feel the need to blow so much vape out in crowded areas as to make a fog machine blush? No one thinks its cool, would bet over half of those around just thing you're an ass.

Regardless if it were he, the latter is somewhat inevitable at any large event. Inhibitions get dropped, "holiday rules" apply, there's anonymity for the few genuine wrong 'uns. The same thing used to happen in big reenactment events, which were also effectively unregulated on the day. You can publish all the rules you like, but psychopaths gunna psycho.

Do a search on Youtube for "sear replacement" or something similar. Hopefully someone here may be able to help with specifics on what part you'll need to replace...

Not interested in pyro and such, it's cool but seems like just throwing money away for a few kills. I'm quite reserved a reckon. Not into the hi capacity mags and all that stuff neither, I like to switch mags under pressure and such, feels realistic and adds to the immersion. My cash problem will probably come from expensive CNC work on pistol slides and such things like that. Thanks again for the welcome, I'll be over to your channel before the nights through!

Usually when I get a notification of a quote I think 'oh no, here we go' when I've said anything that could vaguely be construed as overly negative (while objectively true) about the worse end of the chyna stuff. Glad my memory wasn't at fault on that one. I think I also had some OPS Kryptek at the time, along with some Platatac and Kryptek company. Have since changed round a few items but the Plat and OPS were probably the best ever made in the patterns. I'd take Mandrake as much of a meme camo as it is over nov's latest wringing out of airsoft noobies to buy himself a bigger house.

    Problem selling a rif

It's true though. I don't encourage or assist buyers to obtain RIFs without a genuine airsoft defence, but neither am I going to pretend that it's a problem for them to do so given the number of private and business sellers who don't care. Is telling the truth a problem? "Nobody cares" also means that nobody is monitoring this forum in order to cry "Ah hah! Shenanigans! Remove their defence!", because they could prove that with a few test purchases. In fact, gel blaster sellers could be prosecuted right now, given that they don't enjoy the airsoft defence. And yet... https://gelsoft.co.uk/gelsoft-rifles.html

  31. Under the GDPR, personal data is that which identifies/links to you as a living individual, which includes your name, DOB, address/postcode, email, telephone number, memberships number etc Sensitive personal data covers areas such as: race ethnic background political opinions religious beliefs trade union membership genetics biometrics (where used for identification) health sex life or orientation https://www.gov.uk/data-protection Trade unions are listed, which can be particularly sensitive when considering employment, protest groups are not listed but are a fair call with regards to the potential links to beliefs / politics and sensitivities on differing opinions and the influence it could have on someone’s opinion of you in unrelated areas. Membership of a group does not fall into the same level, unless there would be factors relating to the type of group. Airsoft could be something you feel touchey about publicising it. However, you are attempting to buy an Airsoft gun from someone which implies you play Airsoft and they are also legally liable if they sell to you without a valid purpose. You have given them the elements of personal data, and there would be no GDPR breach in confirming status under the UKARA. The entire purpose of the UKARA player database is to validate an individuals status, and the GDPR declaration states that information will be shared among parties - and they are not restricted to retailers only (it does state that they are the primary purpose). The specifics on the wording from the UKARA may vary over time and also with a site specific form as you sign up as a member of a site which is then added to the central UKARA player database. Note that a seller does not get provided with the members details. The UKARA or a site confirm or deny that the records match

  36. Welcome Its very difficult to say which is better because even if someone had them all to compare they could still vary in performance and reliability with other copies. I'm very happy with my Specna Arms Edge E-03 v1.0 and I have several standard CYMA's which work well too so the Platinum should(?) be even better. I don't have any experience with G&G rifles but they seem more expensive than other makes of similar spec. I would suggest getting the one you like the look of most. Give it a good test to make sure it works properly and enjoy. (The rear sight on the Specna Arms SA-H20 Edge V2.0 can be easily removed)

From what little I know about GDPR apparently it's acceptable to share data / information without consent if there's a lawful basis. Since you're accessing this information to check the buyers eligibility under UK law I would have thought this constitutes a "lawful basis" but I'm no "para legal". However if he's already given you his UKARA he could also grant you permission / consent for the retailer to check this information. That's my take on it.

That's not what I said and you know it. If someone is intoxicated then they shouldn't be playing, that much we can agree on but as far as what goes on in the campsite, there's more likely to be belligerent behaviour from the drinkers than the tokers. But yeah, having a weed based team name is immature at best. But then so is the whole "special operator super soldier" brigade so...

I very much doubt the anti gun lobbyists will ever even see this. The only reason for there to be any headlines about drugs and alcohol at an airsoft event is if something reportable happens which is incredibly unlikely (although I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if someone manages to set fire to the campsite at the minute). ANY large gathering of people will include a number of people that want to get absolutely wrecked via drink or drugs and a number of people who can't think of a worse way to spend their time. It is what it is and quite frankly BOTH sides need to get over themselves. Enjoy what you want to enjoy as long as it doesn't harm someone else and don't be a dick about the things you don't like.

  43. Hi all! First and foremost I would just like to show my appreciation to everyone in the forum, especially admins/mods, for all of the excellent information readily available, which is invaluable to a newbie like me! I have been making my way through it, familoarising myself with the rules and forum sections etc. I am an active member on other forums like this (within different hobbies) so I had a good idea as to how this would work, but wanted to be sure I understood things before making my first post! I had been exploring the idea of getting into airsoft for a while now however Covid and work had got in the way. I finally decided to take the plunge into the world of airsoft a few weeks back, visiting a (somewhat) local shop to ask for advice and get my first beginner gear (For anyone interested it was Bomb up in Warrington). Following that, I went to one of their pistol club nights and had a great time, everyone was really friendly and more than happy to help me out and offer advice. I have booked my first skirmish in at Outpost airsoft near Chester for the full day on 16th April and I am extremely excited for it, whilst also a tad nervous as despite being in my 20s, my fitness is not what it was pre lockdown, largely due to my office job, working from home for a good portion of that time, stopping going the gym and Tarkov.... 😂 I have all the gear I need and will wait patiently for my UKARA defense before I buy my first gun, therefore will be using rentals until then as I don't really see the point in investing in a two tone only to replace it 2 months later! Any advice or knowledge you can bestow upon a complete beginner like me would be greatly appreciated!

  44. I made sure I learnt the correct wording for this at the very least before I embarrassed myself in my first post 😉 Just as a general update, I went for my first skirmish today at Outpost Airsoft and had a fantastic time, will definitely be going again soon! The people there were great and it was incredibly well organised! I will absolutely recommend to anyone on here based in and around d the North West, or for anyone that doesn't mind travelling 😄

  45. IT'S NOT A DEFENCE, IT'S A LICEN- Oh, no, wait, as you were. Ahoy and welcome. Sounds like you'll get on fine, and you've already found that airsofters are a welcoming lot. There's no right or wrong way to get into it, just whatever works for you. Renting is perfectly sensible, and lets you find out if you actually enjoy the process of playing. Some people love the toys, but hate being shot, while others run around with a springer pistol moaning and shuddering in pleasure. Blag a go on a variety of toys to see what you prefer, and if you crack and decide that you really don't want to wait 8 weeks, well, paint comes off.

  46. Welcome bud. I like you, heavily researched before being involved online and at games. So much so I had a shopping list well before my Ukara. My first ever game was in october 2021 and I am now the proud owner a TM M4A1 GBBR. I went against the common recommendation of starting with an AEG due to already knowing my reasons for wanting to play. I wanted realism and a mechanical RIF. The way the M4 works and how it sounds brings the biggest smile to my face. It's a feat of engineering but hey I digress. Just know what you want from it and take note on how you want to play in your rental days and I'm sure you won't go wrong. I bought my own eyepro and face protection after my first game as I hated the fencing style mask and it made that second rental game 10 times better than the first. It sounds like you are heading in the right direction. Don't be shy to get stuck in here it's a great forum. Lots to discuss. Have fun

  49. These are taken straight from the UKARA website Q&A section/news feed. Use the find function of your browser (CTRL+F) to find what you are looking for if you do not wish to read this in it's entirety, but we would appreciate it if you did. This is to stop repeat questions appearing on the forum This guide has been compiled over a number of months, some of the information may no longer be valid or accurate, though we do try and update regularly. Please read thoroughly. A RIF or in other words a black gun requires you to be 18+ and have a valid defence. An IF or in other words a two-tone requires you to be 18+ only. I am a member of the Armed Forces can I buy a RiF? There are no exceptions to the legislation for members of any of the services, the crown servant section refers to purchase for the crown by crown servants not individuals. Service personnel are still required to become a member of an insured Airsoft Site or Club to be eligible to purchase RIF's. The same can be said for shotgun licences etc. they are not a valid defence. Due to service commitments I cannot play enough times when at home on leave to qualify/how quickly must I play the 3 games? The time period over which you have to play your 3 games is at the discretion of the participating game site providing the 3 games are not played in a time that is less than 2 months, the maximum time period is 12 months. I am under 18, can my parents buy me a RIF? Not unless they are members of one the approved purchasing groups, it would appear that there is no problem of a gift from an eligible purchaser to a minor. I am under 18 can, I buy an Imitation Firearm or "Two Tone"? No you cannot, an IF cannot be purchased by a person under 18 years of age. Who are UKARA? UKARA are a group of Airsoft retailers who have formed an association to protect their businesses and enable the sale of Realistic Imitation Firearms (RIF's), to the newly restricted recognised and approved customers resulting from the Violent Crime Reduction Act (VCRA). Why have they set up the UKARA Scheme? Under the new act it is the responsibility of the seller to verify that the purchaser is approved, and they may be prosecuted if they fail to do this with due diligence. How will the UKARA scheme do this? UKARA has set up an Independent Data Base which will be used to list eligible purchasers and allow UKARA retailer members to check sale recipients are bona fidi. Who are the eligible purchasers? The only groups of persons now allowed to purchase RIF's are Film, TV, Museums, Theatres, Crown Servants, and persons engaged in Re-enactement activities, and airsoft skirmishing. All these purchasers must be over 18 years of age. What must Re-enactment people and Airsoft players do to show the are bona fidi? Both these groups must show that their activities are covered by third party liability insurance and that they are over 18, in the case of Airsoft Players they must also show that they are regular players at an accredited game site. Which means they must be a member of a game site with the appropriate Airsoft Insurance cover. How do players become members of an approved game site and eligible to buy RIF's? The games site has to record you as a member and preferably issue you with a membership card. To qualify as an airsoft skirmisher you must be a regular player at that game site having attended not less than 3 times in not less than 2 months and no more than 12 months. Why the UKARA scheme? The UKARA scheme allows certified game sites to join a list on the UKARA web site to show they are participating in the UKARA scheme, this then means that they can approve UKARA player application forms, the game site having been registered and issued with a validating stamp and recognised signature. Why is this an advantage? If the player downloads a Player application form from the UKARA web site he can have this confirmed by his UKARA registered game site and then send it to any UKARA retailer with his first order, who will then enter the players details on the UKARA Data base. This then means that he can then order from any UKARA member retailer and providing he includes his UKARA game site numbers he can be verified and thus sold to. My game site is not on the UKARA game site list, can I still register with UKARA? No, if your game site is not on the UKARA list then you cannot get your player form validated, you would need to wait till your site joins, or go to a UKARA approved game site. Will UKARA use my personal information for other purposes? No, your information is protected under the DATA protection Act and may not be divulged to any third party unless authorised by you, if you are at any time unhappy you may have your details expunged from the record. It is only there to allow retailers to confirm you are eligible to purchase. Can I have my RIF sent to a different address? No, RIF's must be sent to the registered postal address of the player. How do I purchase from a UKARA dealer at their shop premises? If you take suitable ID such as a drivers license passport etc. along with your UKARA Players number the retailer can check that you are the registered buyer by checking the Data system. What do I do with my players application form? Once you are a member of a UKARA game site and have been a regular there for more than two months, having played at least 3 times, you can get your form verified and then send it off with your next order to a UKARA retailer. You will have to do this by post, and if your actual order is via the net or phone make sure you reference the two together, posting a day in advance of your order would probably also help. Your form can also be sent to a Core or Associate retailer as it makes no difference, though please do not post directly to the UKARA Admin. When they process your order they can add you to the Database, and once this has been done you can order from any UKARA retailer quoting your UKARA site membership number. Please remember RIF's can only be sent to your registered address. Why don't UKARA change the law concerning painting and purchasing of Imitation and Realistic airsoft guns? UKARA is a retailers association and although we did put forward our views to the Government of the day when the Violent Crime Reduction Bill was being drafted we did not get all our ideas accepted and ultimately we did not draft the bill nor have any ability to change the current Act only Government can make and revise UK law. I am under 18 can I own an Airsoft gun and play airsoft? There is no legal restriction to the ownership or use of an airsoft gun whether RiF or IF related to age you may not purchase a RiF or an IF if you are under the age of 18. There is no restriction other than game site own rules and insurance cover as to the age of a player of Airsoft. Can my parent buy me an airsoft gun? They can buy an IF but not a RiF unless they are a member of an insured game site, although if you are under 18 you can be given or win a RIF or IF. Is a red tipped, or camo painted gun legal to import as an IF? No to class as an IF a gun must be 51% government approved bright colour or clear see through plastic. Accepted bright colours are: - Bright red - Bright orange - Bright blue - Bright yellow - Bright green - Bright pink - Bright purple Could you give me more information on how to obtain a Airsoft licence? There is no such thing as an Airsoft License (or A "UKARA") you can become a member of an insured game site and if appropriate register through that game site onto the UKARA database. If I/I have/I am going to, import from Hong Kong, USA, etc will Customs impound my gun? If you cannot prove that you are an eligible importer the Boarder Agency will impound and destroy your import without compensation, if you are an eligible importer e.g. a member of an insured airsoft game site, (and UKARA registration helps a great deal) make sure that you have clear information put on/with your import proving your eligibility. I want to buy RiFs not to play Airsoft but to use in my back garden or hang on the wall? The VCRA was expressly designed to eliminate RiFs from the UK, Airsoft players only got a "Special Defence" because they proved that they needed them for the realistic element in playing Airsoft. I have changed my registration details e.g. moved or a different email address what should I do? Your first course of action is to contact the game site that you are registered with as a member, tell them of your change of address or other details and ask them to update you on their own records and on the database, to which they should have access through their own players section. Hopefully this answers some of the questions that keep coming up.
