Fair enough. I suppose it depends who you're sending it to, I'm sure most serious airsofters wouldn't mind getting a gun that's essentially just field stripped. Thinking of an M4 here really where its just two pins holding the upper and lower together.2 points -
Agree, I'm a bit of a water snob anyway, i only drink the tapwater at home if its boiled in a cuppa, most tap water seems to have a "taste", & usually gives me a sore throat ?, wtf that's about I don't know ?. But most supermarkets own brands are more than palatable, especially when ice cold, so I usually chuck 8 litre pack in the chest freezer the night before, time I need it on site it's started defrosting nicely🥶 While site owners have a reasonable duty of care to clients, it's shouldn't leave them out of pocket just to protect the Darwin award winners amongst society (all your doing is delaying the inevitable lol).2 points

A few times I've been to RF the rentals have been sold out, or close to. It's unrealistic to expect rentals to know what a full day of spring/summer airsofting is going to be like, they aren't going to be turning up with camelbaks, you're doing well if they don't turn up in trainers ffs. So as a sensible business owner who doesn't want their customers and potential new regulars to keel over in the middle of a game it makes sense to provide water for them at least. And if you're doing that you might as well spring for another couple of quid and eliminate the possibility of at least one type of medical emergency across your entire player base.2 points -

Logistics are demonstrably not too much of an issue as demonstrated by Spec Ops. Where laziness is an issue I can't argue against is that asshats leave the bottles for staff or we'll minded individuals to pick up. Plus ensuring recycling plastic bottles. I just have a thing about drinking water being available. This isn't restricted to the world of airsoft 👍. If you operate a business where fluid intake is essential to the safety of your punters, provision should be made. But of course I'm British, so I can happily stick to grumbling online and sort myself out.2 points -

Talk Me Out of Buying a TM MTR16
Cr0-Magnon reacted to SilentSparky for a topic
I've literally done something very similar over the past (expensive) month, but the other way around. Brought an MWS M4a1, loved the feel of it and enjoyed it at its first outdoor outing, then promptly brought a TM Mp7 for CQB, which like you used for the first time last weekend. Similar story, I have had quite a few AEGs and still have some, but was looking for something more and am now hooked 🙂1 point -

My first Marui Glock
Jacob Wright reacted to emilianoksa for a topic
I went for the Glock 22 Gen 3 in the end because I want to put a Guarder Gen2 frame on it, and this will not fit the Gen 4s. I was very pleasantly surprised. People say Marui Glocks are very light, but I found it more weighty than I expected. When I removed the slide I was impressed by the standard of parts and quality of the fitting. It looked clean compared to my WE Glocks. And although it didn't have the same recoil, I was perfectly happy with the recoil it did produce and the speed of the slide reset. The Gen 4 must really be something special if it is an improvement on this. I dispensed with the extended mag base , put on the normal mag base and just enjoyed shooting it in my garden. Of course the slide is plastic, but it somehow manages to look better than the WE metal slide. In any case I intend to run it on 144a gas and for shooting at home exclusively. This got me thinking again about TM pistols generally. I have always fancied the Beretta PX4, but have heard that the slide stop breaks and the decocker fails after a while. I never use the slide stop as a slide release on any gun, and I avoid using a decocking lever. Whether doing this will minimize the potential damage to the slide stop I don't know. It does look a bit fragile. But I am more worried about the fact that "it will take play over time" (whatever that means - I assume it means the slide to frame fit will loosen). I have also heard that the TM XDM40 suffers from the inner slide reinforcement breaking near the slide stop resulting in the slide stop being gradually eaten. Are these design faults, or the result of people not following Marui's advice and and running their pistols on green gas? I know many run them on green gas without problems, but there is always a risk. Has anyone on here who uses a PX4 solely on 144a run into any serious problems over time?1 point -
Would “muc-off wet lube” work for the metal parts in a 1911 and why / why not?
Rogerborg reacted to Floperator for a topic
Coming from an airgun enthusiasts perspective I'm a big fan of high Moly content grease personally. Slippery AF and has a high flashpoint so great for piston seals etc. Again best used sparingly and buffed into metal bearing surfaces rather than slathered on.1 point -

For new players add a quid or two to a rental price and include a couple of litres of water. Anyone playing their fourth game should be aware of the physicality and their hydration needs. It's a sales opportunity for a site though, buying water by the pallet's relatively cheap (15p/bottle) so if you sold it as low as 50p you'd still make a healthy margin, added bonus is you get an extra pallet to make defences/obstacles/seats out of.1 point

Self-QFT. It's fun to fantasise, especially in a group while imbued with righteous zeal, but consider the end point, and whether you're really prepared to go there. I'm not, and while I wouldn't say one word of criticism against anyone who did, neither would I incite it, because "Let's you and him fight" is... antiheroic.1 point -

I'm fifty-fifty gobsmacked that this guy is still doing this, and also not at all surprised. As a moderator, there's just no way to keep up with the amount of accounts he was able to create. Gmail accounts can be created within 3-4 minutes, affording anyone the element of surprise. However, what about we organise an AFUK forum game over in Northern Ireland? Could be fun! a proper lads on tour trip, shots on the ferry, some beers, broken teeth, curry club at spoons etc good wholesome fun.1 point

TM MP7 GBBR Maintenance
Davegolf reacted to SerialNoodle for a topic
It's normally the best to take it apart and have a little mess around after each game day when using a GBBR, as said above, lube application doesn't need to be that frequent but it's nice to keep on top of it. Just also be careful when cleaning the barrel, try not to use anything that may damage the inside, and don't apply anything to that, same applies to the hop unit generally too. On a side note, also try to keep some gas in the magazines when you store it, keeps the mags gas tight and keeps the seals lubed. I have a small bottle of Abbey maintenance gas that I use to fill the magazines of my GBBP when they're in storage. It's also good to shoot the gun using that gas every now and then just to keep the deep internals good too. Enjoy the MP7.1 point -
Would “muc-off wet lube” work for the metal parts in a 1911 and why / why not?
Rogerborg reacted to Floperator for a topic
I'd agree that silicone *spray* is no good. It's the devil. Silicon lubricant has very specific use cases and for things like o-rings it's great, but is best applied sparingly as a grease, and specifically to those parts that need it. Its not good for high friction components. If you get silicone on similar metal to metal bearing parts can be worse than having no lubricant at all. I'm also firmly of the opinion that dry and wet lubes do not mix, so if you do decide to put graphite (do not) or Lablube in your gun, don't then follow it up with oil or grease that then forms a nasty paste in the inner workings. Much like you would get by coating the inside of your RIF with silicon vapour and then taking it skirmishing. But really all lubricants should be applied sparingly, after addressing as many other causes of friction as possible. Fettled properly, there should be little need for lubricant in all but a few places. Lube isn't a replacement for remedial engineering and rarely 'fixes' anything in itself.1 point -

It's a tricky one. I mean, it can be viewed as a medical necessity and they'll want some on hand to administer. But water is heavy and nobody wants to be hauling hundreds of litres of it around just to give it away to people too lazy and unprepared to bring their own. Everybody playing is an adult, or supervised by one, and should be able to understand the need for hydration. But, you know, airsofters. Overheard conversation: Dumb: "Damn, I forgot to bring any water, I usually bring a whole litre." Dumber: "Oh, I brought a litre, you can have half."1 point -
I use Muc Off (sparingly) on the bolt on an SRS. Works well enough, but needs reasonably regular cleaning because it picks up dirt and grit. Partly this is due to the SRS bolt being permanently exposed (unlike VSR) and partly because where I'm playing at the moment has a lot of dust/dirt floating about.1 point

Crimping Tool
Egon_247 reacted to Dan Robinson for a topic
I have those cheap ones from amazon linked above and they're great for the job too. I like those knipex ones as they're one of those few multitools that do all the jobs properly. The only real difficiency is that you don't have a proper mechanism to crimp to the appropriate torque. But I've not burnt any houses to the ground yet. My other crimping related toys are: Bootlace Ferrule Crimping Tool STD AWG23-7/0.25-10mm² Self-Adjustable Ratchet Wire Crimper with 1350PCS Crimp Connectors,Ferrule Crimper Plier Set https://amzn.eu/d/bdm5x4z Hilka 28600209 Ratchet Crimping Tool Pro Craft https://amzn.eu/d/fa0d99P And in total airsoft (spending money for the sake of fancy shit) stylee: https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/crimp-tools/0452473 The ironic thing is I'm a sodding plumber not a cable strangler. 🤣🤣🤣🤣1 point -

Last weekend's 9h night tournament was a blast! We were missing one member (so we were 5 instead of 6), nonetheless we went balls deep and did almost everything! The tournament itself was very interesting since in order to locate/complete some objectives we had to find information inside other objectives (namely Objective 4, its coordinates were found inside Objective 3, E1's coordinates were found in either E4 or E2 and the rest was distributed throughout the AO). Storyboard was that we had to help a sniper called "Silent Arrow" in eliminating a drug lord, by recovering information around the AO so we could tell him which person to kill. (map for reference with all the objectives marked) At the start (11:00 PM) our guns were taken away and transported to an unknown location (AEG on the map), we were then given a small cartographic exercise in order to find the coordinates, hiked from the HQ to AEG, collected our gear and proceeded to C2, then E4 and E2, since they were limited to a very short time frame (30 mins each, 01:00-01:30 E4, 01:30-02:00 E2), here we had to wait for a car to leave small boxes along the road (marked in green), those boxes contained very useful information regarding other objectives, mainly coordinates and items we needed. If one team was not able to recover those two packages within the given time limit, they would have had to hike back to the HQ and ask for them, with a point penalty of 500 points per package (which means being last, since 1000 points equal two combat type objectives). This is where we had our only engagement with a patrol which lasted a whopping 15 seconds, we got spotted because another team, who was sitting in the tree line next to us, ran away creating a lot of noise so the patrol got alerted. When we opened fire they melted, but still, 100 points lost -.- (another 200 if you lose the engagement) With those two packages retrieved, we headed back to the HQ so we could input the coordinates in our GPS devices and plot a sensible route. The main goal was to reach C1 as fast as possible because it was the objective with the strictest time frame (03:00-03:30), unfortunately we fucked up navigation and barely missed it, so we decided to do Obj.2, here we had to injure (by shooting him in semi auto in non vital parts, essentially arms and legs) a dude, extract him and blow up a building. Barely completed it, we messed the extraction part because we didn't have enough time. After that, we skipped WP4 and went to WP3, WP2, WP15, stumbled upon Obj.4 (had to insert a chip inside a laptop without being seen by the defenders), WP5, attacked Obj.3 where we had to blow up a laboratory, then moved counter clockwise through WP11, WP6, Objective 1 where we had to exfiltrate a case of radioactive material and take a picture of a scientist, after telling him apart from the rest (they all had images of chess pieces on them, it was relatively easy because he had a king), skipped WP7 because we didn't realize we were that close, went WP14, E7 and E1. At E1 we found the sniper, who was an archer IRL and he had setup a shooting range with four dummies at a good 35 metres, we gave him the correct name and he fucking pierced the dummy with an arrow from that distance. Kudos, that was a fucking good shot! (We were later informed that he was competing in the national archery championship, so yeah). On our way back to the HQ we went to C3 and then finished at 07:35 AM. Back at HQ we did a small debrief with the organizers and noticed that they had given us 5000 points in total, we thought we were like last, or second to last, since we had skipped a few waypoints, skipped C1, almost fucked up Obj.2 and we were the last team to finish.. Fast forward 20 minutes, results were out.. Last team (of 6) did 3250 points, then 3 more teams with less than 3500, hype started to build up and then, drum rolls, the 2nd team got 3850 points!!!! Well colour me impressed! Never thought we could have had such a large gap from the 2nd! Unfortunately I forgot to turn on track recording on my GPS, but my mate's said we hiked around 23 kilometres, in 8 and a half hours, not too bad! Kit wise, a last minute change I made was to bring the Mayflower instead of the TMR, and it was a really good choice, the thing is 100x more comfortable and lighter despite the overall larger signature and capacity. What let me down was the backpack, 3 hours in and it started digging into my shoulders despite having only two litres of water, one bag of BBs and one NVG monocular in its protective soft pouch, along with spare batteries and a tiny bit of food so I'm gonna have to look around for a replacement. And a stronger insect repellent, my arms are filled with bites it looks like i have a plague of some sort! Group picture before starting (mhm, tinted lens in pitch black conditions, fucking 1000000iq play )1 point -

Excuses after exuses saying hes in the hospital because someone hit his car or his missis is poorly or hes out at the minute he even told me hes just lost his kids!!!! Ive asked for the delivery tracking numerous times and get nothing back. Upon digging into the forums its now completely clear hes scammed me. I first gave the benefit of the doubt but now its gone too far. Any advise on what could possibly be done? Im absolutely raging at this man and his lies. I feel like i should of looked into his name prior to sending but at first, he seemed legit. I have now messaged him to return my items which in all honesty i cannot see happening. Night Games?
Rogerborg reacted to Floperator for a topic
What a rollercoaster. So got my cheapy torch and mount, finally got some more lighting gels and got it to a respectably redder shade of red, and was playing with it last night when it suddenly stopped working with the lead/pressure switch. Fine with the fixed tail cap.. Played around with it a bit and the wires just came right out of the back of the torch end. FFS. So I've had to bring it to work today, re-solder it, and chuck a load of araldite in there to stop it moving around or pulling on the solder joint. While I was at it I brought in a similar tail switch that I got as part of a bundle earlier this year, that never worked. When I opened that up it wasn't even soldered on, some shitwit had tried to hot-glue the fucking wires on! On my life! It got the same treatment as the other remote switch. I also had to get the dremel on the mount because the massive burrs around the crosspin meant that it wasn't sitting on the rail solidly. Upsides: I now have a working torch with two working remote switches. I technically got paid to fix it. It went wrong last night and not during the game. Downsides: it was a right old faff. I didn't want to buy a super-duper torch because I don't know if this night game thing will be for me, but for the love of god if you are going to do it properly then don't be a twat like me, shell out more than £15 for your torch and mount 😂0 points
