If that doesn't sort it then what you absolutely must never do is to shove a long T-handled Allen key or similar tool up the nozzle and shove the piston back until it releases, because it will make Reddit cry when it doesn't actually wreck your gun.

ZCI do a 494mm that is in stock at @ak2m4 https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/inner-barrels/zci-inner-barrel-494mm That would be my choice.

  3. Considering a cyma 0.28 can be picked up for around £100 he's definitely taking the piss. As for a transferable warranty, my only question is wtf have they been smoking?

  4. Exactly , one of the biggest piss takes I find by British retailers is the way so many of them charge us the customer ex amount extra on top of everything else their charging to stop them the retailer selling a gun that’s unfit for purpose in the UK ! 😳 like seriously WTF ?🤦‍♂️

  7. TLDR? Great on the outside, a bit crap on the inside. Here's a quick 2 hours of ownership first impression...... Right - to start. Packaging was fine - typical KWA fare from what I've seen of other guns in their Ronin lineup. A bag of accessories was also included which includes QD sling mounts, M-Lok rail sections, T-Handle Allen keys, and a KWA branded Speedloader. Nice touch. Being the ICE limited edition version, it also comes with a Ice-blue 120rd mid cap in the box. The gun is fitted with a really quite excellent M-Lok vertical grip along PTS Backup sights out of the box. Externally, it's the best plastic I've seen on pretty much any airsoft gun. Think PTS EPS stock plastic quality, but the whole gun is made of it. It really is very nice to pickup up and hold. That is, from the pistol grip forwards. Where it falls down is the stock. Again, it's very high quality, but much like any other PDW-style stock it is limited in terms of storage capacity (which can be mitigated to a degree with an extension) and adjustability. It only has three positions, fully closed (thus useless), fully open (which is a bit wobbly), and somewhere in between which is still a touch too short for many. If I keep this gun (more on that later), It'll get a buffer tube and a PTS EPS Stock - much like KWA's still unreleased EVE-9. The gun is well balanced otherwise, and the pistol grip (basically a PTS EPG) is an excellent fit for my hands. The gun is largely ambidextrous, with fire controls, bolt and mag release on both sides. Problem is, the bolt release stopped working after the third time engaging it (and I was being gentle), so the bolt will not lock back. Disappointing to fail almost instantly. The charging handle, being up front does get in the way when holding the gun if you like to wrap your hand around the rail, but it can be easily switched to the other side to move it out of the way - so no biggie. But what's it like to shoot? I don't know really. I tested it briefly on a 7.4v LiPo, but the motor lacks torque and I could lock the box up quite easily. Performance was a laboured 14-15rps, trigger response not great at all. The gun sounded laboured generally and the gearbox loud (which I've heard is a trait of the v2.5 GB thus 'normal'). Ok, well, KWA themselves say it's good on 11.1v LiPos, so I switched to a 20c 1300maH 11.1v. It blew the fuse within 30 shots. *Sigh*. The trigger response was nice enough and I'm guessing a ROF of around 19-20RPS in the 10 seconds it functioned for. Soooo.......I'm on the fence with this one. I could fix the niggles easily, swap out the motor and stock, probably sort the bolt release too - and the rest of the gun feels amazing in the hands otherwise. But I can also send it back to the vendor before any more gremlins pop up. Hmmm.....watch this space.

  13. The EVE-9 will come with a PTS EPS stock. I doubt very much that anything other than the KWA 2.5 gearbox will fit as it's very much integrated into the structure of the body itself, shaped subtly differently to a standard V2, and the ambi controls just will not work with anything else due to a proprietary selector plate.

  14. A quick look at the internals... Well..... the switch isn't going to last long on 11.1v - there is clear indicators of burning/arching/pitting on the trigger shuttle already after ~30mins of use. Problem is - the switch is proprietary. It'll probably be easier to source a Gate Titan than try to find a replacement KWA switch here in blighty. Great. The switch is not a complete write-off yet,so I'm going to try clean it up and fit a simple Mosfet for now. KWA should of shipped the gun with one fitted - they are not exactly expensive these days. The rest of the gearbox is fine. Gears seem tough, the shimming is a touch tight, but with the shell being so thick and less openings in it to test each gear individually, it'll be tricky to re-shim so I'll leave it as-is for now. The shell really is a chunky beast. I have no concerns about it's long term durability. There is a proprietary tappet and nozzle which is a characteristic of all KWA 2.5 guns. The Piston and Piston head are best described as mediocre so I've ordered replacements from @ak2m4 . There is so much potential for this gun - it is a few component choices short of truly excellent but ultimately penny-pinching by the manufacturer has let it down. As-is, would I recommend it? Well, if you are confident at teching your own guns, then yes, I think I do. But for a beginner player? - Good god no. And that's a real shame.

    M14 dmr lockup

Chances are that whoever converted it has just taken off the fire selector knob to "lock it to semi". If that's the case then if you take the upper out there should be a white plastic linkage that goes around the back of the gearbox: the sprung lever on the left is what controls semi and auto and if the spring is on there it should default to semi. The position in the pic above is auto, stick a battery on, hold it in that position and fire a burst. That should unlock it.

  18. Yesterday at Apocalypse started as a bit of a mixed bag as there were some great games, but was let down by a bunch of rentals who couldn't follow simple instructions and site rules. Fortunately they left at lunch (I don't know if they left on their own accord or were booted as they left pretty quickly) but the games got a lot better afterwards. It was also nice that my kurtz managed a full day without crapping out which is more than can be said for my shotgun and aks74u, although the ak was my own fault for not charging the battery

looks like that's the stock length for his gun, which tbf is generally a good starting point. as @Impulse suggested, going a little either side is fine (9mm longer ain't gonna be too visible in the flash hider).

  21. Well, first game day ended bittersweet. It made it through one game before the smell and heat from the motor/grip made be throw it in the bag and grab a spare gun for fear of doing some serious damage. The gun also started to lockup as the heat/smell got worse, so I'm guessing the motor is just...well...shit. Curiously, the anti-arching diode is absent from the motor that KWA normally fits to all their other guns. I had an intermittent low velocity issue as well, where one shot in 20 would be noticeably quieter and the BB drops well short. Initially I thought the hop-rubber needed bedding-in, but the sound change became more pronounced. So time to check the gearbox - the stock piston is largely an all-plastic rack from what I have seen with an un-ported lump of metal for a head (which might be part of the problem). But the first 20-30mins of game play use were glorious even with the odd low velocity shot. The ergonomics, balance and feel were top notch, and it sounded great with a slight amount of over-volumising to give a nice, but not obnoxious 'pop'. It felt snappy, very 'pointable' and was very easy to put BB's on target. Sooo...time to sort the gremlins and say bye bye to the warranty. The guns strip relatively easily - no harder than a standard M4, just with a few some extra screws. The mag release and ambi controls do not require removal for disassembly, they remain attached to the lower. The upper slides off with a single pin removed at the front (M4 style), but you don't need to jiggle charging handles or dust covers, it's smooth and precise and the fit between the upper/lower is excellent. This is helped by the fact that the front pin lug on the upper is part of a metal trunion/outer barrel assembly. The lower receiver has a removable receiver stock mount/extension, and this screws into a co-molded metal threads in the lower - clever stuff. The entire back end of the lower is heavily reinforced and in places it around 5mm thick to support the stock. That, coupled with the fact that there is no rear receiver pin hole - which is a weak point on many guns, means that I would honestly place this well above any metal-bodied gun in a similar price bracket for durability. The hop unit is again decently made from plastic, the outer barrel on my example is nicely finished brass and I have no compulsion to replace it. The hop rubber is a split mound type, which to be fair worked well enough in the time I used it, but ultimately will be replaced with a ML/Omega combo. I'll cover the Gearbox internals another time - but it's a heavy beast of a thing and I have no doubt the shell it as tough you will ever need. The bolt release issue I had was rectified with a slight tweak of the mock-bolt - it is quite thin metal. I will be tackling the gearbox later, but based on a few videos I've seen for KWAs, the Piston and Piston head would be worth replacing from the outset.

  22. If that's actually a "factory standard" CYMA then it's likely to be over 1.3J and a Section 5 hazard. Cheeky sods, wanting another £35 to make it UK legal (Statute legal, let alone site legal).

  23. Agreed with Mr no face. Bunker 51 can be quite full on for newbies, and it also gets very muggy in there, or at least it was last time I went. Fun site, just a bit too open and dark in most areas for my liking. If you can make it, north west london has some pretty good sites; Red1 the school and Red1 oblivion in kings langley are both very, very good for gbbr gameplay; the school is an abandoned school and very up close and personal where gbbr hits are real satisfying and you dont have as much of a disadvantage compared to aegs, and oblivion is a more open woodland site but with several nice built up areas for semi cqb action. If you prefer slower gameplay and more open maps, reforger up the road from Red1 is pretty good, huge map sizes and very open sightlines so great for stalking and sniping just not my speed. And finally, you can't say you spent 2.5k on an MWS build, and then not show us what it looks like! Pics!

Hello All! From Inner-London (Zone 1), have been collecting for a while due to a passion that stemmed from video games. But recently have decided to get a custom MWS GBB M4 that has so far cost me over £2500 (which is ridiculous for someone whose never gone airsofting- I am aware). That being said, what would be a great way to dive into it? Any specific locations fellow Londers go to for a good session, and any tips anyone can provide for a beginner? Thanks, Random Boring Guy

    500mm inner barrel

I don't know if many companies do a 500mm with the correct cut for normal AEGs, as 500mm are typically m14 barrels which have a weird hop unit. I think ZCI are hybrid cut, but if you don't want a ZCI barrel, I'd look at 509mm barrels instead as they're far more plentiful with the correct hop up cuts.

I believe I had one instance where I talked to CS - for information not issues - and their reply solved whatever it was. Owned it for about 3-4 years now and its still going strong, not that I use shotguns much. Now If Id owned my KSG when I played at The Mall back in the day...

Welcome That certainly is a big investment but if it makes you happy 😉 Have a look here for sites near you: https://playairsoft.uk/ Since you've got the expensive part you'll just need some eye protection and BBs to get started. (Good boots with ankle support are recommended too) Do some searches and read up on what to expect at a skirmish day then 'just do it' 😁

  30. A woman purchases a parrot for only £5. “Well, I must confess, it was brought up in a brothel,” says the shopkeeper. “And, to put it politely, it has quite an extensive vocabulary.” “Never mind,” says the woman. “At that price, I’ll take it.” So she takes the parrot home, puts its cage in the living room and takes the cover off. “New place – very nice,” says the parrot. Then the woman’s two daughters walk in. “New place, new girls – very nice,” says the parrot. Then the woman’s husband walks in, and the parrot says, “Oh hello, Keith!”

I assume you are after a 16mm threaded barrel? THE TM MWS thread

Wow. Just wow. Geoffs Super Precision 0.32g BBs are defo the fave for my MWS. Vorsk 0.36g managed a 45mm diagonal and 936mm2 area spread over 10m Geoffs smashed it with 5 shots in a 319mm2 box, 34mm diagonal! I re ran the test to make sure it wasn’t a fluke and got 520mm2 / 42mm. For size reference the box is about the side of the end of your thumb! Bonus that they are a third of the price of 0.36g BBs (of any brand!) Next test will be with the new Maple Leaf MR Silicone hop rubber, but I can’t be bothered to change it at the moment and I would probably need to push the testing out to 20 or 30m to see any appreciable difference. Safe to say I will be grabbing some more Geoffs SP 0.32g with my next order 👍

I got the Pistol Kywis a couple of weeks ago and were so impressed I have stumped up for the M4 tall versions for the back of my shooters belt. Hold the MWS gas mags really well but easy to get out and re-index. Will be testing the Geoffs against the other BBs I have to see how they perform and then testing the top 3 with the ML rubber.

Ready for Operation Boogaloo at Gunman Eversley next weekend, and this time the hop rubber ISN'T torn, so I can actually use it. Going to take it to Worthing this weekend to MAKE SURE it's working so I don't have a repeat of last time. Will shove a bunch of natural foliage in the scrim net on the day.

  40. Easy answer is no. I bought an SSG10 plus extras for over £500 with no import fee’s. I checked this with novritsch and they ship with a UPS option that covers everything. Only thing you might need to complete is a firearms declaration, if it’s been sat in customs for a while I would recommend you call UPS and they’ll usually send it out once you give them a nudge. I’ve had to do it 3 times and had no issues once I rang them.

  44. Err... possibly. There are so many brands out there and many seem to be made in the same factory and I did hear that they were CYMAs, although I have no idea. LT gets a bad rap online (via Yanks and Reddit) due to some well-publicised historical issues however seems to have improved a lot over the past 2-3 years. Mine certainly has been excellent, I did have a consistency issue early on that seemed to disappear, possibly due to it being new. However it's a solid enough gun and shoots very well especially on .25s.

  45. Not a full loadout (imagine the usual black PJs for VC shenanigans), but I just put together my "ghillie" for Operation Boogaloo in two weeks time; VSR is similarly wrapped in a bunch of scrim net too Will attach an abundance of natural foliage on the day and be a haunted bush hunting GIs all day. Well, that and civvie recon, walking around with no military gear and having a bit of RP fun ("you shot my cow! You pay for cow, GI!") Going to make a point to not know about any objectives so if I get captured I can't tell them anything, because with how annoying I'm going to be I reckon it'll happen at some point. Going to be good escape and evasion practice, as it looks like we may be outnumbered something like 4 to 1. Last Vietnam game I went to had some fantastic escape and evasion action, so I have my hopes up. Goal is to get hit and/or captured as little as possible

As much as I love it, the Wolverine Hydra and the m14 hop unit don't get along, so I've put a strip of a drink can at the back of the hop unit to avoid BBs rolling back and jamming it open. Took the opportunity to get the G&P scope mount which is far lower and now the m21 is complete. I will need to cable tie the rails onto the outer barrel to stop it moving about though as I had to modify it a little to use it with a scope mount; mounting a scope directly onto the rails doesn't work and tilts the sight upwards, hence I need a separate mount to keep it level. Not sure if I can get the stubby mags to feed properly though, so we'll see next game day. Otherwise I'll just run it with normal mags. Also, I now have a decent camera, so have some m21 pics.
