  1. Also the whole ‘custom’ thing does my swede in 🤯 not this chaps add in particular but near all the adds you see claiming to be selling a ‘custom’ gun , on the whole the term custom is taken to mean you’ve permanently and physically altering the what ever in someway , like shortening the barrel , changing the layout of the controls , changing the entire gearbox internals ? that makes it a custom gun in my book , sticking a red dot and a bi-pod on it or just changing the inner and hop rubber then giving it a shit paint job does NOT make it a ‘custom’ gun , that’s just personalizing it !🤦‍♂️ rant over !😁

  2. I am going to generalise but since covid i have found every site i have been to a little lack luster. Our local site.. The late the great Combat South ( pours drink ) closed. So we have tried lots of other sites and have not yet found one we would go back to regularly. We have had some fun, don't get me wrong. Sadly the effort most sites seem to be putting OR equally the lack of staff they seem to have these days seems fairly noticeable. I am no Combat South fan boy ( Love you Russ ) . They had some games that didn't work and honestly most weekends were a rinse and repeat of tried and test scenarios. But it was always delivered to a high standard, the marshal's were visible and engaged. They also provided a high quality lunch. (Which i do not understand why other sites who are now charging upwards of £25 a person, do not provide something so basic. Well not without an additional fee. Tight asses) I am hoping that as Covid fucks off, that competition for players returns and the the sites start upping their effort. Or i'm just jaded and overly entitled.... Or due to the great sites being lost to housing developers that the glory days of airsoft are dead. Or because today's airsofter seems to be weak, whiny and scared of being drilled full auto. Or its the speed softers fault. .......... it is speed softers fault

  5. A 100 times this ! the team running it can make literally the crappiest little site an absolutely brilliant day but equally a poor team can make the best site possible a total waste of a day . Classic example for me is my old home site , I always said a bad day there was better than a good day at most other sites I’d been too , until the head marshal passed away and then we rapidly discovered he really was the heart of it . After he passed away from my perspective(and my team mates as well) it just went to shit , standard of organisation dropped , rule infringements weren’t getting jumped on like before , poor control of the site became a lot more visible but the biggest thing for me(and again my team mates) was the total lack of customer care , the new bosses just didn’t care about it . When he was running the site he would always wonder around the safezone welcoming the players to the site , he was always at chrono , always tried to be the one giving the briefings , was always out on the field and was always approachable with questions/complaints/etc , and at the end of the day he always wondered around the safezone asking you if you’d had had a good day and if not why and shaking hands and saying good by and he looked forward to seeing you again at his site and it was his site , he may not have owned it on paper but he certainly was the boss in our eyes . When Dave died so did the site as far as I’m concerned and it really showed it’s the people that matter NOT the bricks and mortar .

  6. My nearest site (SpecOps) has a fairly limited site in terms of structures (most of them are represented with just sheets of tarpaulin hanging on lines, or tents - I hate to think what the storm has done to it), and now we're in the middle of winter there's quite a lack of vegetation as cover. The games tend to be simple rolling defences, or bomb plant / defense, or rescue a dummy... so even the young kids can have a clue what's going on. But it's pretty much always good fun, just because the owner and the marshals work together, and try to keep it light and without too much emphasis on being 'competitive'. So we do get pre-game briefings, and hear who has won at the end. Static teams get a gentle cajoling to push on (almost all games having infinite respawns that aren't too far to trek back to helps). Good team efforts or solo runs get mentions in the couple of minutes post-match, and the whole thing rounds off with a "thanks for coming, hope you all enjoyed it" that feels like it comes from the owner's heart. Or perhaps from his bank manager Decent bit of nosh for lunch included too. There are things I could critique, but by the sounds of it I'm pretty lucky with my local site. Player numbers are 40-70 and the playing areas kept reasonably tight so at least one of the small number of marshals are always in line of sight. So to the OP - stick with it, hopefully you'll find something reasonably close by, don't disregard a site just because it doesn't 'look cool' as it sounds like the quality of the people running the place is the most important thing

  8. I don't like the goontubers carrying more cameras than a TV outside broadcast crew, so I don't watch their crappy videos Personally I'd rather they just didn't allow filming at all. Unfortunately this results in all the whinny idiots making unfounded accusations of the site allowing players to cheat

  11. I'm lucky to live close to five sites. I only play at four of them. My favourite is the best marshalled. According to reports on here, the site that I don't like has improved immensely since I last went. I'll try it again. How the games are run matters. All sites can have off days, but imaginative management can make the dullest featured location fun, and of course vice versa. One thing I will say is that a well coordinated set of mates can clean up objectives against a massive opposition that are milling about chatting and being slack. Ignore the members of your own side doing the same and concentrate on your own game - you'll have fun whatever anyone else does. As for time wasted between games, tell the site. I sent an email to one site complaining about waiting around. The next time I went the head marshal was obsessed with getting us up and playing a.s.a.p. Won't cost you anything to contact them. Good luck for your next game.

The weather forecast is good so we should have a smooth ride, landing at approximately five thir OH FUCK" After a long silence came back on the intercom "I'm sorry if I scared you then ladies and gentlemen, it's just that a flight attendant spilt coffee on my lap. The front of my trousers are ruined" "That's nothing" shouted a passenger, "you should see the back of mine"

  15. 1st welcome , 2nd and I also agree its good that you did log on to discuss these problems and not just flounce off in a huff never to return like a lot do ! 3rd 6-8 games is about average, 1/2hr between games is the top end of waiting time , 1+1/2hr lunch is a piss take . 4th Marshals not knowing what’s going on is a sign of poor site organisation and not acceptable in my opinion . 5th players not moving forward and pushing on to the objective is standard at most open skirmish days BUT the difference is the numbers of players that are/aren’t actively taking part in the gameday . Unfortunately some sites are just shit and nothing ever will change it(near where I live there’s a cracking good site but I haven’t played there in yrs because it has zero organisation , basically what you’ve described sounds like this site to a T)but most sites you go to it will ebb and flow from wk to wk , one wk it’ll be total apathy the next everyone things their John Wick clearing out the ‘red square’ ! Also you need to factor in the weather , when it’s cold and shity and horrible on the whole the players enthusiasm mirrors it , the weather gets better ? so does the game play ! 6th as long as you and your mates stick with it I’m 99% sure your experience will improve , having your mates with you will make what would be a crap day on your own a good day with you all there . if you can travel definitely try some other sites as well . finally I’d just say don’t take this bad experience as the norm(just a shame it was your 1st) give it time and at least wait till the nicer weather comes along to make up your mind about it . 👍

  19. Welcome to the sport! I'm personally delighted that after that sort of day you've logged on and bothered to create this thread and discuss it. As others have mentioned every site varies. 6 games (depending on length) is about average for a skirmish day, I prefer faster turn around times and shorter lunch breaks. But I tend to find all skirmish sites slack and slow for this, a skirmish caters for all players including players with really different motivation and organisational levels. Losing momentum can be a difficult one to recover and especially if the weather is bad it can be hard to be motivated again to get it going after lunch. Most skirmish players are interested in their game, not whether the objectives been achieved, other people flanked etc and most are there to get kills and they play in an according fashion......sounds like a more structured event would be up your street. Regarding the objectives, at a skirmish they rarely mean anything, they are just a plot for that game, the score for football at the end is important, having a good game less so. Having a good game/experience is the point of Airsoft (or generally that's the accepted view) so which team won rarely matters. I find it useful so that Marshall's can re balance the teams if one side is losing lots. It is nice to know when one side "wins" but I'm sure if you persist you'll have great games you lose and terrible ones you win. My honest opinion is that you experienced a pretty meh day of Airsoft, whether that's because of the site, them having an off day, I've had meh days at what I thought were great sites, great days at sites I had previously thought of a not great. At skirmish days I tend to find all of the issues you've raised exist, some times it's real bad, some times a minor annoyance. I rarely found them at more organised events (such as battlesims)or milsims. Stirling run lots of events at catterick, it's worth the 8 hour return trip for me. You can play bad guys without all the Gucci kit and their themed games there arent non stop. I wouldn't normally advise them for a new player, but I'd rather that than you lose the love for the sport altogether.

  20. Considering the OP just wants it for a display and occasional fondle I don't see any reason to consider a plastic version. So you're worried about the gold paint coming off? Just touch it up with a gold felt pen and when dry put some nail varnish on top. It'll look great and feel much better than a plastic replica. Those are beautiful @enzo47 @Shamal Yeah, I love my WE M9A2 v2 Action is sooooooo smoooooth

  23. To quote an old adage, "knives don't kill people, people kill people", you think taking all the "zombie knives" & other associated crap off the shelves is gonna stop people being stabbed ?, is it fuck, the whole thing was just yet another government knee jerk reaction, probably to cover up a completely different non related matter that it didn't want talked about. In the same vein, no pun intended, bout 15 years ago, following another surge in "stabbiness", a group of A&E doctors tried to raise a petition to the government of the time to ban the import & sale of all pointed knives, but as was quickly pointed out, all the scrotes etc would do is raid their mums kitchen drawers, or start making shivs from literally everything available. No, if the police are gonna try to enforce the law, ANY LAW, best they know what they're talking about first, & if the intention is to prevent harm being done, maybe properly lock up the habitual criminals, the repeat offenders who it seems know how to work the crap system to their advantage. Like the fact that if your subject to a stop & search, found to be in possession of a bladed article but not in the process of committing a crime with it, not only are you likely to escape prosecution, you will probably get the knife back, if you ask nicely lol. Like the lad in London, a known gang member caught with 15 knives (I think ?), slap on the wrist & his brief asked for the knives to be returned😬

  30. How I see it is this way, airsoft sites are there to A: Make money, B: provide people with a fun environment to pew They are not there to provide an income stream for any old yahoo to rock up, film, then edit the footage in a way that can potentially cast the site in a bad light (deservedly or not). I'm all for people being allowed to film, and with the size and quality of cameras now, a ban is unenforceable. But with such a signed waiver on file, a site owner might at least discourage the click bait merchants and possibly give them good grounds to have videos taken down.

  31. I've come to believe that the tone of the day hinges on the morning brief, and more particularly who gives it. It's startling how big a difference there is between someone reluctantly mumbling meandering and mugging their way through a brief on the assumption that the day will run itself, and a no-nonsense "This is how it's going to go" brief by someone who actually enjoys herding the cool cats. Like any job, there's a very specific set of skills that makes a site run smoothly, and I think I've identified it.

How dare you!!!! Now that being said, interesting idea. The Bolt/Nozzle must be sent back to disengage from the mag/gas flow. You could replace the buffer-spring by a weak one, strong enough so that it slows the bolt enough to not damage the bolt or buffer tube, but weak enough not send the bolt (fully) forward. So that you need to manually cycle the bolt to fully engage it. It should work, but the risk of damaging bolt/buffer tube seems too high to me. I suppose TM installed a spring which is just about right, so probably not enough margin to install a weaker spring without damaging your system. And the bolt catch on an empty mag, might also stop working, but not sure on this one. Or somehow change the bolt catch that it engages every time, not just on an empty mag. Wouldn't know how though.

  35. Sadly, you've listed some of my pet peeves, which seem to be common at most sites. You only missed marshals hanging out in groups and InstaFacing on their phones. YouTubers and airsoft "celebrities" produce heavily edited videos showing a rather selective view of airsoft, sometimes bordering on staged or fictional. And, yes, there are generally a bunch of people who aren't massively engaged in the objectives (if they even listened to the brief), or sometimes even with playing airsoft at all. But you'll have good days and bad days. For example, the timekeeping at Biohazard today was actually pretty decent, and we did get told who'd won each game, which was nice. It really comes down to the players and marshals who show up on the day, and whether the numbers suit the site. The good days are great. It's a pity you didn't enjoy Bunker 31 as looks like an interesting site, sort of outdoor-CQB. I don't think you've got a lot of other options up there - it's quite a trip to Tazball, Viper Strike or Evolution, and I haven't played at any of them, so have no particular recommendations to give.

  42. In bulk though, and selling from stock. When we're talking about items that they have to order, track and send on individually, and customers bugging them with "were gun tho m8?" on a daily basis, I expect any profit margin is soon going to get swallowed up in extra staff time.

  43. IIRC it's down to licensing of company logos which are trademarked. H&K allows TM to use the logos as their targeted market is Japan, whereas in Europe they gave the licensing to Umarex Personally I don't really care about correct markings as, especially with pistol, they're not going to be seen much

  46. Unfortunately I do believe your not wrong with this as we now live in a society where individual blame isn’t allowed to be given anymore , the culture now is ‘shared guilt’ so no one can feel able to make an accusation of bullying or being picked on . In the ‘old days’ it was a case off “you fucked up don’t do it again , lesson learnt move on” but now that isn’t allowed so when an individual does screw up the two options are either collective guilt or diving in to the nightmare that is HR , paperwork/meetings/investigations/public relations and possible litigation all for something that could have been sorted with a simple Bollocking and this now runs through all levels of society no matter what the severity(or lack of) the incident may have .
