  3. Ace, thanks. Yes, that makes sense. Sadly, if UK retailers are now basically just importing and reselling guns from TG or GF, then they're always going to run more expensive after they've added their own running costs on.

  4. Good morning, just a quick report on my last session on sunday... This was the first time taking my own RIF to a game after receiving my UKARA. As some may be aware I went and dumped a wad on a TM M4 GBBR with 6! Yes 6 extra mags and a whole host of goodies to accompany. Well let me just say... the day went absolutely fantastic!! The gun was faultless all day bringing a huge smile to my face and attracting many comments along the lines of 'ooo is that a gas blowback' and 'wow that thing sounds naughty'. 😂 It was such a big difference from the rental AEGs and am so happy I went the gas route. The session was packed with over 30 players in an indoor arena with a good variety of objective based gameplay. And a didn't even use all my mags in any of the games which is a bonus. Any way that is all. Just wanted to share how much I enjoyed my new purchase and am glad I stayed away from the odd recommendation of not choosing gas as my first.. once you go gas there's no looking back 😁😁

  5. Haha, I've actually used one of those! I was a member at Bedford shooting club and burned through a few boxes of ammo through a ruger 10/22 with one of those type of mags... Now I see what the gun inside that beautiful stock is, I'm totally on board now 👍

Ruger 10/22 is America’s plinkster and the BX25 magazine is incredibly popular I’ve got something brewing with a mate to get some BX25 shells printed that fit over a normal aeg MP5 mid cap so they’ll end up looking like this

And I'll annoy everyone by saying 'neither', it needs a short straight mag to make it look more like a hunter's gun rather than something military (which the stock assuredly isn't) But I get your saying 'less ugly', so the curved one for me. At a push.

I'll counter that last opinion, personally I prefer the drum mag on it. Though I'm not a fan of them I think it suits the gun better. But go with what you like best I guess.

    ASG/KWA MP9 Upgraded

    This advert is COMPLETED!

    • For sale
    • Used

Originally brought boneyard, now upgraded to better than new spec. Has the very desirable TNT Barrel set up, which can quite easily hop .40’s and is the best barrel set up available for MP9’s (with the price to match!). Has been upgraded with the WII TECH steel disconnector, 130% recoil spring, LPE Piston Head, and a BRAND NEW CQB bolt (fitted and fired 5 rounds to test). The only issue is previous owner has somehow mangled the grub screw that holds the barrel set together. Has no affect on operation, but currently stops you taking the TNT assembly apart. So package is: KWA MP9 with x1 48rnd mag TNT MP9 Barrel Set WII Tech Steel Disconnector WII Tech 130% Recoil Spring Lees Precision Engineering Piston Head New CQB Bolt Set £230 posted, or collection from Swindon I can also include a second long magazine for an extra £30

  19. @Jacob Wright Totally agree there like. Though my Mrs knows exactly how much I spend on my hobbies. But with only minor grumbling thankfully. She is a keeper 😂 there is as much money invested in my toys of various hobbies in my little corner of our bedroom than in the rest of the house put together including the car 😂

  22. The lanyard was originally used for firing an artillery gun (canon), and is worn more for tradition than an actual purpose. Although keeping a church key (bottle opener) at the end in the pocket was a practical use. Regiments and Corps wear different coloured lanyards, so can be an aid to indentification . I believe that a white lanyard is only worn by the Royal Artillery (RA), and is a mark of disgrace for abandoning their guns during a battle. I cannot remember when this incident was supposed to have happened.

  23. Cyma If you don't mind spending a bit more you could go for a E&L. The steel is the same as the real ones so if you don't clean it'll get rusty and have that battered look for minimal effort. I'll post pictures of mine when I get home

  24. You need to choose a year. Uniforms were simplified as the war went on. Things like sleeve insignia were stripped down considerably.

  25. I'm no expert, but believe that the wearing of collar dogs by ORs on service dress was more a between the wars thing. You'll want to look at getting metal shoulder titles instead. As to the revolver and holster, they were used on a limited basis by other ranks (job dependent), but were usually carried instead of a rifle.

  28. Hmm, interesting option. However, I'm in the 11.1V foxhole now, and I like the size of the ones I've just bought. I'd love to try something more than 7.4V in my MP5K with its small battery tube, but LiFe seem to run bulkier than LiPo. I'll keep that in mind though. Sold. Or rather, bought. Thanks, I've been tempted to treat myself to a trick mosfet for a while, I guess sunk costs was the way to go.
    1 point
  29. generally i consider there to be 4 categories of mosfets: basic mosfers (nanoasr, the basic perun mosfet etc) that won't do anything here beyond save the trigger contacts from burnout mosfets with fixed active brake (eg nanoaab, nanohard, merf, etc) which have active braking but no precocking mosfets with precocking (warfet, ab++) optical mosfets. generally speaking category 1 is my default for guns that i'm not pushing performance out of and just want the contact protection. category 2 is a tricky one, i'd generally avoid them as active brake may well help in the situation of double firing, but if you decided to run the gun on 7.4 again you might find there's the opposite problem of too much ab, with the system stopping too quickly and getting lockups on semi. category 3 will solve both the semi firing and lockup issues as well as the added benefit that the precocking will do a lot for helping perceived "response" in semi, you might find that depending on your goals running these with 7.4 is good enough without the rof climbing too high. and category 4 is basically for the perfectionists for whom good enough is never good enough. so basically the ab++ would be a solid choice here, i'm not a fan of using the trigger for mosfet programming but for the most part these things you do them right once and forget about it.

  30. Cheers bud. You've changed my view of Cyma in that one comment. When I left the hobby, Marui had the majority market share by far and a 'Japanese engineering' reputation for quality. When I recently read that Cyma were Chinese Marui knock-offs, I immediately wrote them off. But despite my prejudice, I keep running into positive reviews of their kit. In the hours since posting this I've actually managed to find someone selling a JG BAEG AK74, all metal with wood, with batteries and 5 mags, for a price that doesn't terrify me in case I bodge the strip down. I've not encountered a BAEG before so it's a learning experience...

I understand the impact running can have and I swim like a brick but I did cycle regulary up until covid hit, about 3 or 4 days a week but regularity over distance, because I sold bikes I used to test ride them.Things pushed cycling to the back of my agenda, such as lockdown bikes sales (none for me to buy) and more importantly grandad duties.I have a lovely Cube sitting in my shed ,I keep saying to myself I must go out.As a retiree (early I may add ) I've found my self sitting on my arse too much but I am looking to get back into a job that involves leg work,I need that push to excercise more. Yes my GP about 2 1/2 years ago ,she said I'd virtually would need to crawl in before they would even consider any action and then I'd have to fill in a "lifestyle assesment form",then the same again for the other knee at a later date,it sounds a bit crap but she did explain it well and showed me the paperwork.Had Jabs--------> W🤪W,new knees for about a week, painkillers, etc.

  35. £60 on a £300 order, plus something like a £12 UPS handling fee. So you effectively end up paying the VAT rate. I agree for some items it's not worth it, but I definitely saved as the RIF alone was retailing in the UK for well over £400 (if it was even in stock) and I paid under £250 using discount codes. I then padded the order out with some ridiculously bits of cheap kit. You can never have enough Polish Woodland camo in my opinion. And as you say, there is also the chance you may not pay anything and receive the parcel in 6 days, depending on the the UPS import lottery...

  37. I had a great day in a game with RC pyro. No one on the squad 'patrolling the mined road' knew who the bod on their team with the controller was. The tech added to a decent plotline. It was fun to be on the team ambushing them too, as we did not know when the best moment to attack would be. It worked as no one playing had to remember anything or operate anything. No confusion, just loud bangs and added immersion. Good use of tech in my book.

  38. What I've seen confirms the above: I measure these at 102mm x 20mm x 15.5mm (without squishing too hard). No idea of how well they'll hold the charge, but they certainly deliver the volts and amps, to the point where my AEGs with M90 / Tornado motor and M105-ish / Big Dragon M140 are bordering on wanker-guns in auto, and are pretty consistently double-shooting on semi.

  39. R/AirsoftClones on Reddit Hey everyone, I hope it’s okay that I post this here, me and a few friends who love building airsoft clones of military and law enforcement weapons from around the world have started a new sub Reddit for like minded airsoft nerds to hangout, discuss clone building and show off our builds! You might ask, “what is airsoft clone building?” Well, it’s somewhat of a niche hobby that has its routes in the real steel clone building world. Where guys build near identical copies of military and law enforcement guns like the ever popular MK18 and Block II as well as other military and LEO builds like the MK12 Mod 1 and the FBI Hostage Rescue Team rifle. Now, In the real steel clone world, they are pretty strict, most builders are accurate down to the smallest parts like having the correct Bolt Carrier, sling mounts, sights, barrels, etc etc etc. This hobby in the real steel world has taken off over the last few years and as such it has also gained popularity in the Airsoft community. Now, the kind of accuracy the real steel guys aim for is obviously not exactly possible with airsoft. We don’t have access to things like keyhole marked Colt upper receivers or Colt marked 10.3” barrels. Maybe the PTW guys have HAO parts that get close, but, for regular AEG’s or GBBR’s we are limited to getting as close as we can with what’s available. so, when it comes to airsoft clones, all we ask is that you’re at least showing an obvious effort towards cloning your rifle to look like it’s real military/LE counterpart. That means a tan combat machine with a black quad rail is NOT a MK18 Mod 1. You are least would want to have a black receiver set with a Daniel Defense mk18 rail and some of the correct accessories (airsoft replicas are of course the norm as a real eotech or PEQ-15 is going to be prohibitively expensive for most airsoft builders) So, if that sounds like something you’d like to check out or possibly come post and join. We would love to have you! The subreddit is called R/AirsoftClones so just come over to Reddit and search for us! Thanks for reading and to the mods of this forum, thank you for allowing this post! I really hope I’m not stepping on anyones toes here as that’s not my intention!

  42. Is less impact stress but you can end up with Runners Knee where the thigh muscles develop out of balance and pull your knee cap out of line. I have it, it sucks but it's fairly easy to correct as long as it's not too advanced. I compounded mine by spending years riding a mountain bike with clipless pedals that have very little float so you effectively transfer all that torsion movement into your knee.

Sorry to hear this, I'm a little creaky myself, fortunately not in the knees. You could try fish oil, glucosamine sulphate, aspirin (made mine worse) or move upwards from there. I've even seen recommended. +10 to cycling, I'm writing this while on a stationary exercise bike. You can build the resistance up gradually as you add mighty thews, although sadly nothing is going to replace the cartilage if it's osteoarthritis. Have you been diagnosed?

As a keen cyclist i would always recommend being on a bike! Do you do any kind of strength training? I'm sure I've heard/read somewhere that conditioning the surrounding muscles of the knee can help with aches and pains? I'm not suggesting you go all out here, but even some body weight squats 2x a week might make a difference. And if it does help then i'll always recommend kettlebell's for a quick home workout.

  49. A very slow start to the year for one reason or another. Usual game day at Tuddenham run by Gunman. End of the month skirmish rather than filmsim, but I needed to play pretty desperately. The weather was nice and bright although the frost stayed most of the day in a few shady places. Very little wind at all, which can make games a bit one sided at some sites, so pretty perfect for January. The place looked very busy, with a full complement of players. There are never too many with the booking system having a sensible cap even pre-C19. The morning games were in the woods. After a quick death match to warm everyone up, coats and jumpers were discarded, and a game of accompanying the flag to the well took place. The first game was huge fun, the defending team playing very well, and the attackers putting up a really spirited attack. The turnaround was even better. The attacking team really played very well, coordinating themselves tightly as possible with an ad hoc squad, and taking some very reckless attempts to gain the objective. The finale was a huge series of runs at the target through an almost endless wall of plastic. I lost count of the number of attempts, but each one was great fun to see. As I was defending, I enjoyed trying to hit each moving target on single shot, as I had decided to take my new K98. The rifle performed flawlessly, being consistent, accurate and fairly flat shooting for a rif. I got a surprising amount of kills with it and a massive sense of satisfaction from doing so. I did use my M4 for the last five minutes as it seemed a mite selfish to the other team members to handicap myself when they were playing so competitively. It is the most fun rif I’ve used for an introduction to its foibles. I’m really glad that I stepped out of my comfort zone and used a bolt action. Lunch was taken up by chatting to the old friend that I gave a lift to. It was shocking how long we had not seen each other. We both seem to have spent lockdown buying obscure Soviet milsurp gear. The afternoon games were in the village. I went over to the M4, but in hindsight should have used my shotgun. The first game saw a tight defence and pretty tight attacks. I managed to get into a position with a good field of fire and few approaches, but someone did flank me in the end. I had a stack of kills to my account so no shame, and I shouted my congratulations to whoever the marksman was. A couple of us had such good lines of sight through one building from the bushes in which we hid, that a marshal checked that we had not sneaked into the buildings themselves which were out of bounds. Eventually I was spotted and a chap got me with a cracking shot that more than equalled my own efforts. The turnaround was even better with some really aggressive attacks that were held up by even more aggressive defence. TBH some of the playing got too competitive and there was some creeping into forbidden positions and I overshooting, but the play was so fast and furious that it did not spoil things, at least for me. I didn’t hear any angry shouts and heard little moaning so it did not seem to matter much to others either. I did get hit by a MK5 that went off beside my head as it fell, which was bloody painful as my friend had forgotten his radio, and I had left mine in the car along with the ear defenders etc. Bizarrely it didn’t set my tinnitus off (and wont fingers crossed) but I still can’t hear quite right nearly six hours later. Such things happen, and it was impossible to have been done with any malice. I only mention it to remind us that ear pro is a good idea. The game ended with some really excellent toing and froing with positions being taken and retaken, with some good personal duals developing between players. The last game was an unusual affair played in the trenches. Four players entered, and when hit were replaced by another, the order of new players being formed by a simple queue at the edge of the trench on the earthworks. The players who waited their turn on the earthworks shouted directions to the players in the trench system. I had not played this game before and it was an absolute blast. My first two attempts were pretty poor, but my third and fourth were really good. The key was to play as fast as possible and to lay down a fair bit of fire. Trying my usual sneaky style of playing was pretty useless. In all, I thoroughly enjoyed my day. The games were a lot more involved than the last time that I played under this marshal team, who did their usual excellent job. I don’t mind players becoming carried away and actually playing the game harder, it beats sullen hanging back. I really had a blast using a bolty for once, and am looking forward to using it for milsims etc. Shock horror, I nearly used my pistol today thanks to the K98. Running red gas it ran fine in the low temp. I didn’t actually shoot the thing for the first time in my airsoft career but there we go. I ended the day dog tired with several cuts from brambles, a load of welts from BBs and a feeling that I had properly worked out, throwing myself around like a loon. Rushing to and from buildings, I ended up throwing myself out of the window and straight into the ground in order to make use of cover three times in one game. I might ache at school tomorrow… Overall, the same excellent day that I have grown to expect, I shall be back very soon.
