no offence (the standard opener to a comment that will then be offensive), but you do know that airsoft is a sport renowned for companies not giving a stuff about patents? it started with everyone ripping off marui and it keeps happening, frankly i'd be amazed if any remotely successful product managed to not get ripped off no matter how many patents they had. this is the heart of the problem. outside of specific themed events, you're dealing with the issue that any game rule has to be something that works for everyone, from dave the discount SEAL team six sergeant 2nd class to johnny's birthday party rental group. even regulars who are game to try something new with some different scenarios/rulesets will happily listen to the breif, go out aiming to stick to the intended rules/theme the best they can and proceed to forget them about 30 minutes into the game leading to things like "do i stand here and wait for the medic or go to respawn?" or "is that area inbounds or not?" or "which zone are we falling back to?", i know because i'm afraid to admit that i'm very much that player- keen to have a crack at the more interesting ideas but scatterbrained. meanwhile you'll get the "stuff it, imma shoot anyone that isn't me/my mates" approach, which is why literally every attempt at airsoft ttt has turned into a free for all death match once everyone that doesn't take that approach (ie not shooting everyone they see on sight regardless of what role they were given) has been eliminated in the first 10 seconds.4 points -

Personally, I'd just bumble around shooting at the enemy, and maybe accidentally achieve an objective. That being said, i know a lot of players enjoy interesting scenarios. The trick, I believe, is balancing interesting gameplay with simplicity. It's easier to herd cats than to get airsofters to act cohesively.4 points -

Don't overthink it. Provide the what3words for the site, as well as a postcode and a route description written by humans for humans. If people use the 3words, they use it. If they don't, they don't. It's pretty much the least important consideration for any event.3 points

Got mine open: It does look the same as your jumper version so something else must have blown without showing any signs. As a replacement I would suggest to look at the SkyRC range. Something like this: https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/skyrc-s65-ac-charger-65w-4389183 points

Do you use what3words?
shadowfacex and 2 others reacted to Tommikka for a topic
It’s a fine idea, but just another thing It pinpoints a 3 metre square But if I send my co-orientates then I’m pinpointed to a 1 metre square, or smaller depending on signal A slight flaw is spelling, a short while ago what3words was used by someone to ask for help looking for a lost dog. They were not the sharpest tool so what3words was probably their best option. Except they couldn’t spell, posted on Facebook “I’m here X X X” with no context - not even mentioning a lost dog, or even what3words. By the time people worked out what was going on the dog was found Had they put up coordinates then they would presumably have put the wrong numbers up - but depending on the digit might have been out by a metre, cm or a thousand miles Copy/paste or a screenshot would have worked Regarding picking up rusty stuff on army training ranges - don’t touch anything, especially not the old rusty stuff https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/422666/9-03-269_Dartmoor_Walks_Rides_Booklet_Web_Version.pdf With regard to using what3words, if I was writing a game info pack today then I would add it to the choices on how to find a site3 points -

Using the law is a tricky enterprise. In an instance when someone has taken the piss in so grievous a manner, you may be better off going to kung fu classes, giving up work for a few weeks and getting into explosive physical condition. Side kicking the door in and casually spinning a set of nunchucks as you enter may adjust the bounders attitude considerably.3 points -

Another ridiculously good game day. I'm starting to think I'm just hitting my stride and getting back to how good I was as a teenager. Been burning through ammo and had to swap out to my big tank today as my little one ran out. Target rich environment with so many kills! Had a game where we had to push through a specific gap (it's a real killer. It's a fairly steep hill with the defenders shooting down on you. We call it Omaha!) and I was one of the people who pushed through with my bush suit and mk23 (after taking people out from just below the threshold on the flank). Pushed through and quickly made my way behind their whole team and just started picking everyone off from behind. Ah, I'm loving the ghillie and the VSR and the mk23 right now; it's amazing. We did have a group of rentals who were taking the piss though. Blatant non-hit taking to the point where it wasn't even amusing any more. So many instances of hitting them, hearing the impact from where I was firing from (not close, so everyone's hearing it) and seeing the impact on their baggy DPM jacket, only for them to just... ignore it. Started to give them a few Kicking Mustang specials as the day went on, but even thwacking BBs off the face masks was met with totally ignoring it to the point where I got a marshall to stand next to one of them, dinked one off his mask and he still tried not to take it; marshall wasn't having that. Only got annoyed by it when I shot a group of 4 of them with the mk23 when they took cover near me (didn't see me because ghillie is good and I was very still), none of them took the hit and they all just full-auto'd me from about 5m away. Not impressed! They were also just ignoring respawn rules, walking back about 20m, having a little ponder and then going back into game. I watched one of them do that, shot him twice with the mk23 so he put his hand up, walked 20m down the path and then just went back into the game. You have to laugh, because what else can we do. They were reported to the marshalls by a lot of people it sounded like. One of them also got told off for blind firing, and while he was being told off for blind firing his friend who was next to him started blind firing right in front of the marshall as the marshall was telling the original one not to. Going to ache tomorrow. Me playing like I'm 17 again means that while I am a slow, methodical bush-monster, there are times of explosive movement and fast play. At least it's good for the new year weight loss programme! I'm not old by any stretch of the imagination (especially not in this hobby, I still feel like a bit of a baby), but I'm also not 17 any more! 😅2 points -

Just a hint to make URLs shorter and more readable, cos this one was a doozy 😋 You can truncate the link at the character before the question mark. After the question mark is just all the tracking info that tells the marketing dept where the URL originated, and isn't necessary to get to the correct page... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1651767916492 points -
Is it a secret law? 6 months comes from the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Section 19, (14) (and 24 (10)). If you're thinking of section 9 and "durability", it does not specify a duration. You are of course free to take the seller to court and claim that the goods should have lasted longer, but that's up to you to argue, on a case-by-case basis. So: Which law says 12 months? Which Act? Which section? What case law?2 points

Playing Pew Pew like a kid when I'm 51...
Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Daddy Foote for a topic
My first post here, and Yes, you read that right. 51 years of age and I have only just crawled out from under my rock and discovered Airsoft - well about a month ago. Turns out my partner's son has been doing it for years... So, while still full of festive cheer (booze) I agreed to have a go. So I went for a game of CQB in The Mill in Wigan on the 30th December and....I'm hooked. I loved it. My body didn't like it like though. Legs felt like rubber and struggled to climb stairs for 3 days. Lol. And my body looked like it had chicken pox that turned into 19 multicoloured bruises over the next day or so. Well I am 51 and 1.5 stone over weight... Which is one of the reasons why I went, to get a bit fitter... After changing my job from an active plumber and builder I got an office job 6 months ago for a software company and piled on the weight. Struggling to put your shoes on, being late for work 'cos the shirt you just ironed was too tight (true story) I had to start doing something and what can be more fun that running around like a 9 year old playing Pew Pew??? I've had a few goes now, all at the same place. Learning the CQB site so I can focus on improving my skills, what little I have. I must be getting better though as only 2 bruises after the last skirmish. With improved skill and a bit more experience, next week I'm off to another CQB venue to play Pew Pew Wish me luck!!! Ps. Any advice on how to improve my CQB game?1 point -

To cut a long story short. I am thinking of making a tracking system for airsoft. A modular target unit Sorry, I thought I had answered that question. I am not trying to flog anything. I have an idea and the means to produce a version for testing. I can, & will apply for patents.1 point -

New Game Scenarios
Shamal reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
i've played a couple of scenarios like this. the biggest obstacle is having a respawn system that's balanced enough that the defending team isn't being completely swamped, but also not just a 1-life rule that turns it into "kill the other guys first then get the objective" quoted for truth, for the most part on your average skirmish day "bad dudes over there, respawns thataway, go shoot" is about as complex a ruleset as can be managed. an awful lot of the game types i've played that have tried to make it more complex either descend into a saltfest (usually when limited boundaries or more complex respawn rules (more complex than go to the flag that is) are involved) or revert to tdm. ahh so it's a dedicated product. i mean i can see the allure, but sadly i think it's one of those ideas everyone will agree is a neat idea and then proceed to not buy for themselves, usually for fear of it being useless if it doesn't catch on.1 point -

I do want to try a casevac scenario. With dummies that are a set of stuffed overalls with a balloon head. One team needs to retrieve all the dummies, the other needs to capture or kill them. I know it's just more retrieve the thing but I think making the objective more difficult to carry solo and vulnerable to the enemy would really change it up.1 point -
New Game Scenarios
Rogerborg reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
i mean i can see how having the vip/target/macguffin doing a sort of patrol route around the site, and letting the attacking team pick when/where and how they want to go about it rather than being forced into a particular ambush location the defenders could predict (defeating the whole point of an ambush scenario). the tricky thing is gonna be how are you doing this tracking? whilst a phone app would work in theory, lot of folk don't take their phones on-site in case they get smashed (and ofc the usual data/signal availability) and presumably handing out site devices would be too expensive. unless you're doing it with a few select folks who are in charge of knowing the packages location.1 point -
vertical foregrips with pressure switch housing
TheFull9 reacted to concretesnail for a topic
I've had grips with sections of relief in them for tape switches to sit in, mostly vertical grips and bipod types. in the end I've given up on them, the angle is never quite right for my hand positions or length of fingers. I started using heat shrink or tape on better grips and more recently I picked up some sectional elastic sleeves and they have been great.1 point -

As you mentioned don't opt for a clone. One of the fpv guys I fly with opened a clone up out curiosity and it wasn't a good thing to seeing long that people are buying these and then charging large lipos with them. If your looking at a new charger I'd suggest looking at hobby shops. I use hobbyrc.co.uk a lot and the customer service has always been great. They stock sky rc and idst chargers, both of which are solid and worth a look.1 point -

Mixed day for me, mostly good but one downer and one item lost So off to Special Ops for the first game of the year. I spent so much time sorting out my kit my wife was taking the piss out of me... Revenge for New Year's Eve when she packed a suitcase for one night and I ripped on her 😋 The downer was when I took my newly painted F2000 to the range to dial in the hop at full distance for the first time. Chronoing bang on 350fps with. 20g, the damn thing would not lift my 0.28g BB's at all and consequently would not get past 30m. I only had a handful of 0.20s left so that wasn't an option really I took the gun to the play field but just stuck with the DE, and had a great time with it. I did take the F2000 with me, and this is where I lost a bit of kit. The sight protector bought from eBay for my Amazon-special Kingscope red dot got knocked off somewhere in transit. I'll have to get another and fix it in place... Velcro or glue. Did get a compliment from the site tech about the F2000's paint job, so I was keen to fix it at lunchtime to use it for the rest of the day I decided to do some field tech work on the hop. I reinforced the nub with a small length of fine plastic straw inserted in to it That didn't seem to make the bucking impinge too much into the barrel but I started getting lots of misfeed and double feeds. So I 'abandoned shit' and left it behind for the afternoon. Bought a second hi capa mag to cheer myself up 🙂 More good times with the DE ... Great day out, good sportsmanship all round.1 point -

Playing Pew Pew like a kid when I'm 51...
Daddy Foote reacted to heroshark for a topic
Plenty of 50+ players I know and I intend to myself when I get there. Cqb it's all about always keeping your gun up and slicing the pie right. You'll find videos on that. I always like to take corners low then if I have contact and have to take cover when I try turn it again I'll vary the hight at which I take my shots so the enemy can't hold a point of aim. Once you are out slicing the pie and aiming on an enemy and they have taken cover stay out but change your hight but stay out and aimed where they originally popped out(usually standing) they will more than likely pop out in the same spot and a lot will present you something to shoot before they can even take a shot. Watch your shadows don't show you up, sometimes you will just have to to advance but it's good to be aware of it and ready. If you have a torch or laser only use it when it's essential . If you are sneaking in the pitch black and you really need it put your hand over it and limit the light if you need to see your footing. Move quietly no rattly kit like hicaps. Good face pro. Grenades are very handy.1 point -
Because of the price of them I'd just buy a new one and throw that one in the bin. It's not worth the effort in attempting a repair that may cause other issues. An ebay clone is £20-25 delivered. Looking at the pins from left to right. (Red, Green, Yellow, BlacK) in that order. The common trace looks to be an earth. (K) Looks to me like the common trace does not connect to 1, 2, or 3, (left to right) (RGY) but does connect to 4. (K) That's backed up in this image of a JST pin out. So it you did want to attempt a repair I would Use a single bridge wire from the far right on the 5 pin (K), to the far right on the 4 pin (K), and remove all possible foil that could cause a short between pins 1-3 (RGY) on the 4 pin.1 point

14 outings in 6 months & a piston likely stripped, irrespective of the retailers dick attitude, I think in all fairness that's quite a bit of wear & tear so not unheard of for a piston to lose teeth.
