Possible answer to the Afghan army question .
ak2m4 and 2 others reacted to mightyjebus for a topic
the Afghan army didn't really fold. You can't look at them as a regular western style army. They are basically a bunch of guys controlled by various warloards. These warlords have been around for a long time for a simple reason. they pick the side that is going to win and swap sides to whatever one that is. Right now that's the taliban but if Massoud's son manages to gather support up North then it might be a different story in 12 months time. Remember that the Afghan people have had a bit of more stable life within the bigger cities for the last 20 years so if the taliban start to behave like they did 20 years ago then the Afghans will be routing for Massoud's son. If the same warlords start to see a shift in power then they will barter a position in the new northern alliances government and switch sides again. I visited about 50 locations in Afghan over 6 years and the love for the deceased massoud was a bit like the british love for the Queen. It would be a very differnet country today if he hadn't been assassianted the day before the 9/11 attacks. As for the Afghan army well I've seen them hit targets at 1200m with a dragonov which is supposed to only be good out to 700, at -22C they are running about in sandels with a pair of socks on and generally not give 2 F's when someone is shooting at them. True, some of them are idiots but then show me an Army that doesn't have its share of idiots. Afghan is always going to be a crazy place. For the last 20 years the Russian's, Chinese and Pakistani's have had a large Western force within striking range of their borders and probably did as much as possible to undermine the Western army. Now that this is gone then the Russians will be worried about the Southern Russian states being influenced by the Taliban, the Pakistani's will be terrified that the Pashtun (the taliban are mostly Pashtun) population that is spread from Afghanistan to Pakistan and doesn't recognise the official border will cause problems in the North of the country and lastly the Chinese will be eyeing up Afghan for 2 reasons. 1 being it's full of resources that only the Chinese have the man-power to shift from Afghan to China and 2nd they will be a bit twitchy because they haven't got the best press when it comes to dealing with muslims. If Afghan is at peace in 5 years time I'm eat my kevlar hat. on a more personnal note, it's stange seeing the runway all over the TV as I lived in a metal ISO container for quite a long time on the edge of that runway. Right now 2 of my mates are sitting there and still in 2 minds about jumping on the next available Herc. The only reason I'm not calling them idiots is because I'm wondering how many Peq 15s, PVS 14's and ACOG's they can jam in a bag for me before getting on the next flight3 points -

I do love a bit of TM when I wanna shoot my white load over someone ! 🥴 Was recommended to to partake of this thread simply for this mongtard as I don’t have an interest in gas rifles (so I was missing the party ) glad I did now , on a scale of “la la la I’m not listening !” To “it’s my ball so if you won’t let me score a goal I’m taking it home !” He’s definitely a solid “because my mummy said you must so there !” 🤦♂️ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣2 points -

I'm happy enough with the SA-02 Edge that I got this year. Decent enough alloy externals, a good hop unit, nice wiring, the internals of the gearbox seem fine without the rough finish reported in the previous iteration. The air seal wasn't perfect, but good enough. The quick change spring is actually fairly quick, you go in up the buffer tube with no need to take the gearbox out. Wired to Deans, which is always nice. Just a basic X-ASR mosfet, but that gives the potential to swap in a Warfet for trick shots. The stock motor isn't amazing, but then what is? I didn't try it with the stock barrel, but it's heavy brass and I couldn't see any obvious issues with it. The worst part was the moulding and security of the plastic M933 style Fudd handguard, but that won't be an issue for you.2 points -

afaik there's no rules about international folk here, or buying/selling internationally, you're perfectly fine to join up, enquire and buy things in the classifieds. it's purely down to the individuals, and whilst it's not often written (because most of our users are from the uk anyway) it's a safe assumption that people don't want to sell/post international. yes it's prejudice, but sadly that's just human nature, i know i personally wouldn't want to sell anything outside the uk but rest assured i'd make that clear the moment i knew where i'd have to be sending something and refund any money paid. i thought it was practically mandatory that curse words are amongst the first learned in any language?2 points -

Cynthia and one other reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
did you actually send them money or did they just agree to a sale then pull out? sounds like you're not based in the uk? if so it's possible the seller wasn't willing to post internationally due to the cost/risk, however a legitimate seller would have made this clear and refunded if you'd paid them. however if you paid them and they haven't sent it then that's a scam and i'm sure the mod team would be interested in further information. if you paid via paypal using the goods and services option then you should be thinking about opening a dispute on there as that's the best chance of getting your money back. if you used paypal friends & family or something else like bank transfer then i'm afraid the options are much less fruitful. Needless to say using paypal goods & services for secondhand transactions is strongly recommended for the protection it provides.2 points -

Hello! After about a 10 year break in playing airsoft I've come back to it this year. Having a great time sorting out my kit and loadout and finding places around my area (Surrey/Hampshire) to play. A lot has changed in 10 years, firstly airsoft seems to have got MASSIVE, and also the law has changed. So although I have an old TM AEG, I'm currently getting in my 2 months of games so I can get a TM M4 MWS (after many many hours lost to research online and talking to people!) I've been going to games on my own, and have a good view of how things work to a newbie-not-newbie... some good, and some not so good. Will share in other threads! The more I play the more I think I'm heading in the millsim sort of direction, I think, so lets see what happens! Good to be here and looking forwards to getting stuck in! Cheers, Stucks.1 point

Tackle reacted to EvilMonkee for a topic
Yep bang on. Same thing happened in Iraq. All this expensive kit, ISIS turn up with a technical and an AK and they run for the hills. There are a LOT of parallels with what happened in Iraq with ISIS actually. If you look at the history of Counter Insurgency Warfare since the Second World War, the only ones we can consider to have won out of all of them is Malaya but that was different as it was two ethnic groups striving for independence from each other not us (Malays v Indonesia) Every other single COIN war we have fought we lost. Vietnam, the various proxy wars in Angola and Congo, Rhodesia, Northern Ireland (yes a loss as the IRA were not defeated and have not gone away), Afghanistan and Iraq. We cannot do COIN warfare as we lack the political will to see it through to the end as we are stopped by our western values from doing what is necessary.1 point -

I was last there many many years ago. If I recall correctly there were a few areas with stones close below the surface (wear decent knee pads if you are inclined to kneel) ….. and there was one particular mini bunker that smelt rank when wet & muddy. Whenever I mistakenly found myself in there I would try to balance with one foot on each side of a tyre and be very pleased to get shot out1 point

I'm going to the Alton site this Sunday 22/8/2021, myself and three teenagers I'll be desperately trying to look after for the day, with three of us bringing our own AEG's / pistols and one being a rental (so I'll be able to comment on their chrono procedures). Online there are very few useful photos of this site, pretty much just marketing ones, so I'll try and take a few if I can. Is there anything others would like me to keep an eye out for at all?1 point

To be honest, would I join a forum virtually on the other side of the world, & expect a private seller with no history to ship to me ? My answer would be no. Focus on getting your money back & put this down as a life lesson, not helped by the issues worldwide possibly, as for the seller, if he's a scammer he'll be dealt with to the best of the mods abilities, unfortunately scammers are like herpes, always hidden away ready to pop up for another "go"1 point -
ASG MP9 vs TM MP7
Jacob Wright reacted to Groot for a topic
If you can get past the size reduction with the MP7. Go for it. Its just an awesome little gun. Change the hop rubber and you are done. Very accurate, good on gas, snappy, great noise etc etc If you have super large ape hands, it might be an issue. I have normal size adult man hands and I have not had a problem. This is mine1 point -
Hi all, just getting back into airsoft after a 20 year break. Pretty sure I used to come to this forum back then, although the only name I remember was a mod called Beaker. I had a pretty good collection back then, mainly TM which occasionally I'd take to work for unofficial skirmishes...got away with it too😀 Hope to be able to contribute when I get back upto speed.1 point

Jeez relax SBoardley. You might break your keyboard mate. I wasn’t having a go at you. We’re all just here chatting about toy guns. First of all, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a “fan boy”. I don’t know why folks get a hard on by using that phrase as an insult. I love TM. And what. Secondly. I bought it with my own money. Even if I was gifted an item, I thoroughly test said products and reveal all and any issues surrounding that particular unit. If you happened to have caught any of my videos where I was given free items you’d know that. Reviewers aren’t all alike you know. Thirdly. One of my AK mags struggled to take on enough gas to produce results which I was expecting. My other mags seem to have a better appetite and produce the performance I was looking for. This is a prime opportunity to test out varying levels of the Green Gas Mod to get the best out of that troubled magazine. Also remember that’s not a review. Overview containing my opening impressions on it. I’m still building experience with their latest AKM, and I’ll be making the review once I’ve grasped a good understanding of it. It’s a constantly evolving process that never ends. Reason why I’ve revisited the M4 MWS a few times over the years with its progress.1 point

Yes… however very unlikely you’ll be able to replace the receiver with a metal one as I can’t see a third party creating one. . Once a TM always a TM no matter what upgrades you do lol1 point

So when you replace the fake wood with real trees, and put a better metal receiver in place, is it still a TM?1 point

@AlphaBear I can confirm that this barrel wrench, with a light tap, fits into the rail barrel nut like a dream! Getting everything off with loctite is no picnic, you'll need to apply heat with a hairdryer for a few minutes to loosen the nut No need to ship from the states is a bonus. https://www.blackrifle.co.uk/Barrel-Nut-Wrench-p/tc22-wrpro.htm1 point
