  1. Things I wish I had know: How many bb's would be strewn across my floor and around my garden! Kids are always finding them. I'm sure they breed under the sofa. The bb's that is, not the kids.

    Not taking hits?

How do you work that out? 350fps is 350fps, doesn't matter what propels the BB. It could be flung by magical airsoft fairies hiding in the barrel and as long as it passes chrono it's exactly the same as a bog standard G&G as far as power goes.

I wanted to buy a leg rig from them and emailed them specifically saying that I wanted it to fit a Beretta 92. They emailed back promptly to say it would fit which was great service. Its amazing how many shops fail that first hurdle. After I placed the order, I came home one day expecting to find the parcel had been delivered only to discover a message on the answering machine asking me to ring them. Fearing the worst (Ive been stung a few times recently where retailers take orders but dont have stuff in stock), I phoned them. It seems there was a mismatch in their part numbering system so the p/n described a Sig holster but the description said Beretta. Which one did I actually want ? Clarified that and the rig arrived next working day. So many retailers fail to answer emails promptly or just pick up the phone to engage with their customers these days. Would recommend.

    Not taking hits?

I will echo the statements regarding clothing... at one game there was a player wearing a large, heavy leather jacket; he ended up taking it off at one point because he just couldn't feel his hits. At one CQB site I frequent which is single shot only, I rounded a corner and fired at a player who was a known 'teflon warrior' - we both shot, which should have been a 50/50, but he refused to take his hits stating I was dry firing. Sadly the nearby marshal didn't see my shots so couldn't call it. This situation was soon remedied after I respawned as he was still in the same place and got the Boomstick; there is no way he could deny that firing, as it is normally loaded with a 168 round moscart shell

  8. A&K M4 platforms are generally good. I had a look at the gearbox after I took it out the gun and as far as stock gearboxes go, it wasn't half bad. What I was impressed with was the inner barrel and hop, the air seal was perfect! I have split the CASV since as I didn't like the look in person, but I kept the barrel and hop because it was good. In fact I sold the stock and gearbox, which gave me a nice £70 return

  9. If you want a big puff, pretty much all you'll need is a shitty GBB with the most atrocious gas efficiency. Namely some WE pistols, which can't get through a single mag on one refill.

    Gun "Bling"

So looking forward to getting my new G&G CM16 SR-L.. Loads of lovely rails to hang stuff on. Let's be honest all the kit, still shoots like sh#t. Anyway what's the thoughts on using a PEQ-15 (fully working) or having separate tac light and laser. I like both open and CQB work and since I'm starting afresh with the new gun wanted to explore all set ups. I've used separates before which have been fine but have been watching "Strike Back Legacy" over and over and see the PEQ in use on various style weapons. Grateful for any opinions and set up ideas and fully accept any banter about "Gun Bling" not making the operator any better when boots are in the mud. Ta 😋👍🏻

    Gun brands

Currently looking around for my first AEG have a pretty open budget looking for something thats good quality and performance out of the box, i have been leaning towards a krytac gun since ive heard nothing but good things about them but want to look at some other brands before taking the plunge, im open to suggestions

  13. Depends on which gun you want and how many mags you need. GHK g5 is £270, so same as any half decent AEG, but mags are £50 a pop and only hold 30 rounds and weigh a tonne. They can be cheaper if imported from overseas.

    Gun brands

ICS - solid guns. A little pricey, but they make the best mp5 AEG for the money TM - the granddaddy of airsoft. Low fps due to Japanese regulation, but unmatched accuracy and reliability. Don't expect them to be cheap G&G - pretty much the 'industry standard', one of the most popular brands and their Combat Machine range is the most popular suggestion to newbies looking for a starter gun WE - going for G&G's crown a bit, aiming for relatively cheap guns. They've had some bad Quality Control in the past, but they're okay now. Nothing special about them, but fairly solid AEGs and some nice GBB pistols as well I agree with the G&G crowd for a starter gun, especially if you're going to tinker a bit, since you wouldn't want to ruin an expensive AEG, and in all fairness, the first AEG you tinker with is probably going to suffer as a result. Don't know about krytac, I've never even held one of their products, so they might be the best thing since TM's original V2 gearbox and hop up, but you'll have to ask someone else

  20. bits n bobs this week included some clone B6 chargers (must get these clones calibrated - genuine ones are fine out of box) nearly bought a couple of cheap of old laptop psu's which should of worked @ £4:50 del http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-IBM-Lenovo-Thinkpad-08K8203-72W-16V-4-5A-Power-AC-Adapter-Laptop-Charger-/400423702601?hash=item5d3b1cd049 with lead and 2.5/5.5mm plug - sounds a bargain for £4:50 16v 4.5amp (yeah it should be 5amp but I don't wish to boost charge at 5c) anyway - ended up buying a lot of universal laptop chargers at about half that price so 4 clone B6's and 8 uni psu's - £57 delivered But HobbyKing (EU store - UK is more expensive btw) have genuine B6's at about £18 + shipping (psu still required) so that is a lot cheaper than many other places - alas saw that after I bought clones (4 for £40) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4pcs-IMax-B6-Digital-LCD-LiIon-LiPo-LiFe-NiMh-battery-Balance-Charger-UK-/200976394796?hash=item2ecb206a2c NOTE - these are clones, so read up about recalibrating them to maintain accuracy to prevent under/over charging next up - a few fire extinguishers for when I start using them

    Places for Sorbo Pad

make up a sobo/neoprene sandwich....... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SRM-TECH-SORBOTHANE-ISOLATING-DISCS-PACK-8-GREAT-VALUE-/331627752762?hash=item4d368ded3a http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Neoprene-Rubber-Penny-Washers-Adhesive-Backed-M4-M5-M6-M8-M10-M12-SN0001-/250981193606?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item801394491d on moderate builds a couple of neoprenes will suffice to simply correct AoE, will stick to stock cylinder head well (M4 - 20mm is the size you seek btw) BUT for higher 25rps or higher springs a proper sorbo sandwich is perhaps best to adsorb shock better you will have to make up the sandwich but have a top level of hard wearing neoprene as sorbo will break down you will also have to make a hole in the sorboathene disc - maybe a little larger than M4 - say 5mm hole (hole reduces in size as sorbo squishes under pressure/impact) if making up sorbo sandwich - clean off all self adhesive on neo pads with alcohol, remove stock neo maybe on cylinder head fuse the stuff together with proper super glue and it should all affix well to the head, slight cushion and AoE sorted (with sorbo - ensure you check AoE with spring in there as sorbo will compress from 3mm to 1.5mm under load) pretty sure it is 70d - heck ring/email them to confirm if you wish or there is some sorbo 70d sheets on fleabay but the sorbo discs are cut to about the right size already sorbathene isn't cheap but the above is what I recently started to use myself though tbh I ain't too bothered about re-doing the guns with just neoprene in there (a 5mm wall of neo is still better than a stock 2mm wall of neo imho) though just recently I started to use the sorbo sandwich (Subway is still way better and tastier but makes a mess in ya gun)

    Gun "Bling"

Some sites don't allow the use of lasers The site I go to is at the end of the main runway so there band (cause of air regulations) for fear of crashing etc plus we don't need torches there & the only cqb site I've been to so far have no need for either unless it's a night game Some people on YouTube have made there own with an empty peq box or upgraded what they already have

    Gun "Bling"

The light on most peq boxes is rubbish, and lasers are 99% of the time useless for anything other than freaking out cats. If you're after gun-bling then the VFC PEQ15 is very well put together.

    UK Tactical

I placed my second order with UK Tactical late on Sunday night to use a 20% discount code. I could not resist getting some more Warrior Assault Systems kit and this time bought a belt, dump pouch and holster. The goods arrived on Tuesday, except I was not home and so could not sign for them, so parcel was taken back to depot. However, it was my mistake as I had forgotten to go to the Interlink website and tell then where to leave the parcel. So I did that Tuesday night and the rescheduled delivery came on Wednesday. My first experience was excellent and this was as well. I like the free postage and email and text updates. I will be buying more from them in the future.

  28. Welcome to the forum. The South East is amazing for Airsoft sites, especially if you are willing/able to drive. I've been playing for just under 2 years and am still nowhere near checking out all the sites within a 2 hour drive(i'm based close to Xsite Lane End) Lane End is my local Xsite's other site The Outpost is a fun CQB site The Mall in Reading is good for CQB Absolute Airsoft doesn't have a very good reputation, I would avoid purely due to it's affiliation with Special Airsoft Supplies(I haven't been but know people who have and said it's crap) Rift Com3 is a good woodland site, players and marshals are sound UCAP: Green Ops is woodland but CQB mostly due to the layout, enjoyed the site but the players on my team that day sucked UCAP: The Sandpit is a massive site, I think it is also massively overrated. I wouldn't go again. Zed Adventures: Battle Lakes, big woodland site that I really enjoyed. Bluestreak Airsoft, like a lot of sites gets very mixed reviews. Thought the site was very well run, no issues with hit taking whatsoever and the lunch was really nice Hopefully that gives you a good starting point.

    Not taking hits?

I often wonder what is happening when someone doesn't take their hit. Guess it depends on the player as i've told a mate once or twice he has been hit in the past year or so as I heard it but i'd assume he didn't and i'm confident he wouldn't shrug a hit off if he was aware of it. On Sunday I heard the distinct noise of a shot hitting a chaps chest rig, he didn't take it but took the second shot. Later that day a player rushed me, lacing up the cover I was behind but missed me, he then hit the ground 5-10 metres away from me. I put my rifle on the ground, drew my pistol and fired a few rounds and hear the sound of one hitting fabric(almost certainly on his calf for reference). I heard no call of "hit!" so I said "mate I heard that hit you" at which point he took the hit. I think the thing to note is that we all miss the odd hit. I've had two instances since I started of a marshal telling me I was hit when I wasn't aware of it(although one I am almost certain it hit another play, but I took it without question anyway) - What I mean is give the player the benefit of the doubt unless it's consistent One thing that does concern me is the rise of recording game footage. Fine in itself but when the footage is used as a witch hunt it all becomes very iffy. I played a game recently where we were told that a sniper had footage of a player not taking hits and if they ID'ed the player they would be banned. Issue with this is that you don't know if it is a case of a player neither hearing nor feeling the shot and also I'm sure I am not the only one that has jumped as a shot whizzes by them which could be misconstrued as flinching(you will reflexively move away from the direction of the shot as if you were hit) I am actually quite concerned that jumping when you are taken by surprise could be taken as conclusive proof that, actually you flinched and as such are a cheat. I am all for politely telling people they have been hit though. It's something that is only sensible to do within earshot so you aren't shouting across a field. It all depends on how you phrase it, and bizarrely the only time I have had the player disagree is when I saw multiple BBs bounce off them at close range. At that point it meant they have hit me by blatantly cheating so I just take the hit and carry on with the rest of my day.

  30. TaiwanGun's / P&J's guns are A&Ks rebranded, AFAIK. At least their other M4s definitely are. Dunno if that helps...? But there's gotta be a decent number of reviews on them (as opposed to searching for P4J) From what I know they're obviously not going to be the best but alright quality as to be expected. Can't comment on the construction, I know the receiver is metal - I'd imagine it's just weak though (the kind which is more likely to break than polymer on a G&G for example) Pretty sure I saw they will take MAG magazines and are generally gonna work well with most brands. This is cos I was interested in getting one [a P4J CQB thing, not the CASV] myself a while back. Really can't give you that much more help than that, sorry.

    Marshals

So I've been the travelling airsoft guy for a few months now and had a great time. I have noticed one key thing..... Marshals can make or break a day. I have been to a few sites where the marshals were professional and calm let the day flow freely. Sadly at some sites I have witnessed what can only be described as egotistical show offs acting as if they a special forces and you are plebs...who happen to pay for that privilege. I like many others airsoft for fun and maybe a bit long in tooth for that crap! I would be interested in you guys opinions on it?
