  1. Anyone who laughs at a 14 year old for having a 2-tone isn't worth knowing anyway!

  4. Wonder if a tennis ball launcher is covered? its a projectile launcher that is used in a sporting capacity. Which is exactly what an airsoft gun is. Also how can they refuse to cover a totally legal sale? I cant see how this would stand up in court no matter what their small print says it goes against consumer rights. The withdrawal of a service for the reason of because we feel like it.

  5. Every bullpup gun I can think of has a fixed stock (one can't adjust) and they're all different length guns. therefore you definitely need to try before you buy as the gun may not fit you. I have a P90, but lots of people have said it's an uncomfortable gun, either due to them having arms too long or moobs too big. I'd suggest refining the options to a couple you like the look of and if you can't find someone with one to let you have a go, at least travel to an airsoft store and try them in person. Have you tried using something M4ish with a foregrip and a 3 point sling? I wouldn't say a single-point sling provides any comfortable support for a rifle sized gun, just the ability to leave the gun hanging off your kit.

  6. Quite right. Don't worry about what anyone else says, you can still have great fun with 2-tone. It's the same gun after all. Sure you might be slightly more visible but get a bit creative with your cover and make sure you don't ever clean the outside plastic then you will be fine, as N1ckh said you can even dirty it up a little bit. It's all about having fun and yes some sites do ban 2-tone but everyone who is there is there for the same reason, to enjoy a day of airsoft. You aren't going to ruin anyone elses day by being there with a 2-tone so it's none of their business. Get one, go there and enjoy yourself!

  7. Depends really. How quickly would you like the paint to fall off? If "in a matter of hours" is your answer then don't bother with primer. The ones on Youtube are most likely painting over plastic with Krylon Fusion. This doesn't need a separate primer because it already contains an adhesion promoter (or primer in laymans terms). If the surface finish on the gun is sound (even if it is blue) then to be fair you could probably get away with just keying that with some red scotchbrite and painting over the top. My issue with that is that whoever 2 toned it wouldn't have done the surface prep properly so it may very well flake off taking your nice new top coat with it. As with many things in life, do it properly - do it once.

  12. errrr.... 60-80 won't get you much that's great... There are some: Cyma CM030 glock 18 AEP - doesn't much power but is a reliable side arm since weather doesn't affect it. Tri shot shotguns - the are cheap and reliable guns but however, not sure if you have enough arm strength to keep up with the game - 3 springs you cock back at a time. Can't think of anything else atm, but you could also consider second hand

  15. I own two AUGs (F88s to be pedantic ) and until recently an L85. Like you I cant get on with the AR/M4 platforms as I find them all too short in the stock. If you want a rifle and dont want to add anything to it then a A1 AUG is a good choice. Very pointable and easy to get along with although finding places with Mid Caps in stock is awkward at times. The A2 is a good choice if you want to just add a site to a rifle but it does not really replicate any real rifles. The A3 is the third choice if you want to go ballistic adding accessories to it. Like the A2 though they are a very poor representation of the real A3 but there are some inserts available on shapeways (3d printed) to fix this. You would likely find that this is quite a front heavy rifle as well but because of the motor being right at the back I would imagine it would still be fairly well balanced. The L85 I also found decent to work with even with the added complexities of the GBB system on mine. For me though I found it was slightly awkward to use with the standard handgaurd until I used the sling to help support the front of the rifle. No idea if this is how the forces are trained but it was something I learned shooting the N08 in cadets and it helped massively. My friend now has the rifle though and fitted a DD rail and it is very nice to handle. I'm seeing more F2000s about but unfortunetly have never had the chance to handle one along with the Tavor :/ Probably the biggest deciding factor between and L85 and an AUG is weather or not you need to be able to shoot single shot for the purposes of a sites rules. There is a modification you can do to the AUG trigger to create a semi position but it is a bit of work. Otherwise you are stuck with the two stage trigger and it is very hard to be able to consistently fire single shots with it. If you sites have no restrains on full auto then its not a problem otherwise you will need to start modifying it from the off.

  18. There are usually a few 2 tones at my local site, no one seems to mind, though by lunch, often the awful JBBG 200fps cheapos are scattered round the safe zone and regs spare guns and any spare rentals get dished out! :-)

  19. The tactical sock: similar to what's described above. Just take the screw top of a bottle, and use a zip tie to hold a sock to it. No rattling and more syorer bbs than a gbbr user can go through in a month I also ran into the problem of getting bbs stuck in my penis, so naturally, a tiny cocktail umbrella is the best tool for getting them back out again

  21. Anybody who looks down on 2-toner's must also have a low opinion on renters too to me it is all about the fun factor - £ for £ I bet a 14yr old with a £125 Z1 raider is having more fun than a snobby middle aged player with expensive toys getting the hump being shot by kids Actually that sounds like me a bit but I really accept I get ar$e handed to me without new players starting somewhere it can get very stale and even risk of site not continuing due to regulars giving up I pay little attention to people's guns - it is the person not the gun I like or dislike - forget what toy they are holding Fine clothes do not make the gentleman - as my late father used to say (we are/were both scruffy sods but besides that fairly decent blokes)

  22. Leave it be. Play with it, decide if the shortcomings you find are actually you or the gun and then fix what needs fixing. It's a good gun as is, don't fuck it up by "upgrading".

    Bullpups and no brains :D

As Deek has said I think it would be very beneficial if you could get to handle some of the options you are looking at. For me the L85a2 is my preferred choice because I find the weight distribution and firing position suits my style of play. I think really you've already answered your own question after you said the M416 (a popular weapon indeed) didn't suit. Where about's are you based? I'm sure some members would let you see how you like the positioning of different options. Really whatever you do you will need to handle it first, because some people are happy to play with whatever they can, but others like me and you can find some guns just darn uncomfortable.

I have the F2000 'Hunter' version, i.e. the one with the built in scope. As previously pointed out it is a huuuuuuge slab of plastic, but I quite like it, but it does have issues, such as problems on single shot (which makes it almost useless for the CQB sites I play at). One the plus side the scope is pretty accurate, it takes M16 mags and you don't see that many of them knocking around. Another bullpup I absolutely love is the P90 - I owned 3 TM variants at one point, and they are very solid and reliable. Sadly I have no experience of the P90s made by other manufacturers, so can't really give feedback on them. The TM FAMAS used to be the weapon of choice for new starters, and they were virtually indestructible. Because of this most sites offered them as their hire guns. The only down sides to the TM FAMAS would be actually finding one and the price. If you have the spare time and the means available it might be worth visiting one of the larger physical retailers and handling some of their weapons as this might give you a better idea of what would be suitable for you.

2 Tone BB guns at skirmishes

2 things - Don't let it bother you its only paint at the end of the day As mentioned you have to start somewhere. Off the record if your that worried black tape it or just remove paint... But that makes your defence a lot harder. I had a two tone pistol no one said a thing tbh your young plenty of time to get a RIF and the ones that laugh at you shoot em on the field then you can laugh at them for being shot by a two toner

  30. hmmmmmm - it is a close match between a raider from Z1 painted free and £10 delivery = £133 or GC16 30th painted + delivery for £168 - it is still £35 more than the Raider..... But if you can afford it think most on here would say go for GC16 then source batteries as cheap as possible coz "airsoft" batteries cost a bit In fact the GC16 is front wired and has 3 mini rails to mount on it so it ain't rail-less like carbine and I'm sure you can get slightly cheaper block batteries up the front where as on Raider you need twin stick or single stick nunchuk batteries in the crane stock these can be slightly more than the block/brick type batteries used on others (yes the GC16 can use crane/nunchuck/twin stick batteries but some moderate block types should fit in there too) so maybe yeah sod it - GC16 if you can afford it but don't get swept along too much buying loads of stuff if money is tight YOU WON'T GET BATTERY/CHARGER WITH ANY G&G - so be careful before jumping in and buying loads of stuff if anything maybe a pack of BAW blue 0.20gms bb's but there is still lots of stuff - well a few bits you will need if getting into it like eye protection - no crap - if you go skirmishing naked - very brave/stupid - at least have some decent eye pro read ian's guide first just before you take the plunge - I'll happily answer all your questions but you gotta realise just buying a gun is only half the initial investment when adding clobber/eye pro/mags/battery(s) charger/boots etc... http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/17294-ians-guide-to-noobism-on-a-tight-budget/

    Plate Carriers and stuff

When I first started airsoft, I bought myself an assault vest. My logic was that I didnt fully understand these new fangled plate carriers and I was dazzled by the prices and array of the ones on the market. The assault vest was fine. It was something familiar and I had more load carrying kit that I could use in skirmishes including an integral hydration pack. I loved the full length zip which enabled me to get it on and off easily. However, I eventually dipped my toe in the water with this invention of satan - the plate carrier. I made the mistake of buying a cheap one to try it out. It was a pain - uncomfortable wires sticking out, difficult to get in and out of unaided, etc. With my involvement with milsims, I have treated myself to a better one and its night and day compared to the other one I had. Little things like having an integral radio pouch, velcro loops for radio cables, hydration tubes etc make all the difference. I also never fully appreciated what difference dummy SAPI plates make to the fit. I can also close the side panels myself once its on, without the use of mirrors or team mates. My point ? I guess Im musing on how, its all a bit of a learning curve. You dont want to lash out on the expensive wrong kit, but sometimes buying cheap in ignorance also means you end up buying twice !

    Plate Carriers and stuff

Welcome to airsoft. I'd say you've done just what 90%+ of everyone else that's ever gotten in to the game has done. Not that it's a bad thing, you can't know what kit you'll like until you buy and try a whole load of things, there's no way around that realistically. I do wish some people (speaking generally here) would avoid some of the really low end market-stall level tat gear though, because some stuff out there (we're talking full plate carrier + pouch sets in the $40 sort of region) is so atrocious you may as well roll up that cash and f*****g smoke it. I get why people buy the more basic stuff to start with, who wouldn't unless they're a millionaire? It makes sense to look before you leap as you might just find you don't like the game after a little while. But you'll seriously not like it if your rig rips, tears, sheds pouches, pokes you with bits of plastic and wires and falls apart after 2 games. Even worse are the retailers who peddle the really low end vest for like £80+, I've seen Viper cross-draws for nearly £100. There is worse than Viper out there, but the prices on kit that some airsoft specific stores charge is insaaaaane. Not only is it generally BS overall, but you're just straight up tricking the customer in to thinking they're buying something fairly high end, when it simply isn't. You can buy Warrior PCs for less than a lot of the airsoft-quality rigs sold by RIF retailers and I would use WAS stuff for real any day. Flyye is great for airsoft, but I would not trust my life to it. Gear is like everything, I see people throw away money on such rubbish when it comes to eye pro, chest rigs and holsters etc. If you want, you can actually go out and spend a lot of money on gear made out of sh*tty materials that's been sewn using sub-standard thread by a person who's got no idea how to sew gear together. Or you can most likely spend less money and start off with a solid, simple, effective rig like this: http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/sdtmb6nx.html Or this: http://www.uktactical.com/p-7530-warrior-light-assault-rig-coyote-tan.aspx Which will abso-bloody-lutely guaranteed last longer than you want to keep it for before you sell it and move on to the next flashy/shiny new toy. I do blame a lot of the airsoft retailers in many cases. We're not a nation with a military or firearms culture in general, 99.9% of the population are not going to realise it's a good idea to look further than the little 'vest' link underneath the 'SMGs' link at their preferred airsoft retail site. If those stores wanted to do right by their customers they'd learn about how good gear is made and stock stuff that is genuinely high quality and cost effective, not stuff that looks good on a website but is of utterly obsolete design (which is most often the case) and often of comparatively shoddy construction in general on many occasions. But anyway I could rant about that for a long time. FAO the lurkers reading this - Buy decent stuff. Something isn't 'cheap' if it breaks on you right away and you have to buy another one. Something's 'cheap' if it lasts you years and years of hard usage and performs well throughout that time.

    Plate Carriers and stuff

I had the same train of thought. I brought an assualt vest first cause i wasn't sure what i needed to carry and how many pouches i would need and for what. Now I've got a better idea of what i need I'm going to invest in a plate carrier and start building it up. Just need to choose one now.

  40. A lot of people consider KWA and KSC are the same company more or less, but they aren't. The guns are designed by different companies even though KSC makes them for both brands. The recent KWA ones are different to the KSC guns. The situation between the two companies has evolved. I suspect KSC aren't available in the USA, so while it might look on the surface like the distinction is just KSC in Europe and KWA in the USA that isn't actually the case anymore. KWA do their own design but still use KSC to manufacturer. KWA can no longer sell glock replicas in the USA due to licensing complaints from Glock there and so now you will find things like the ATP in place of the Glock 17 model they used to have whereas KSC do sell the Glock 17. But KWA's recent lineup of pistols is all NS2 and better materials than the KSC guns, which are often pre NS2. Neither company has made it 100% clear what the split is, but its certainly more than the basic licensing differences since KWA has models KSC doesn't have which perform much better than the older range. I haven't used a KSC pistol, only the KWA ATP and I only looked into reviews of the KWA pistols. So just be aware they aren't really the same anymore after what happened last year with Glock.
