It's bloody awesome ! not playing today but have been up to the site to try the 249 on the range. I've not done any scientific testing of gas fill to bb count with the supplied stanag , but I didn't seem to be refilling much . I suspect the box mag (on its way) might last a game if the gun is used in a sensible way. I was firing bursts and it just kept going. Bot over 150 BB's into a mag , dont think I'd bother trying to ram the max 175 in tbh. Range and accuracy were on a par with anything else that was being run up there today ( it is a game day I'm just not playing) . Actually the acuracy surprised me tbh. Tried it on .25's but may well go up to my usual GBBR weight of .30 will see how many BBs I am going through. Chrono'd it as well. Using green gas it was right on the edge of limits so won't be using red in it. I can see taking 4 BB mags and a bottle of gas into a game will give me plenty of ammo for my play style. And god the sound of it ! it'll keep heads down just from that alone ?

  2. This is my friend's DIY work, It is similar to the smoke from e-cigarettes and model tanks. It has a buzzer and an orange LED light that can be reused (but I think it could be damaged by throwing it hard). This video about he test it in his house, apparently, it doesn't hurt the wood floor.(LED and smoke generator) The effect is actually quite striking, at least for me. He gave me a DIY flame suppresser with smoke function, similar in principle and parts. To be honest, my English is not very good, so if I say something wrong, please point it out to me f3271f5d360a835786de1c6cef75e601.mp4 6fdf667c083a033e5a927749985a7e3b.mp4 a5590dad115b7d9a2fc39930b4cec4a2.mp4 aaa996ac75f34a98b74b11172d23b3e5.mp4

  3. That last bit aimed at me ? Hardly making things awkward, & as I stated, no offence to anyone that's in to ultra realism in their loadouts, but once this hobby/sport gets it's claws in to you, it can get stupidly expensive trying to achieve ever evolving loadouts. I've been guilty of it myself back when I started playing, & still own a ridiculous amount of kit, I'd hate to think what it's all worth, but most of it is just me experimenting via trial & error what works for me, so at some point I'll flog most of it. My point is, too many guys get sucked down the rabbit hole of everything "Leet" or "speshul", & financially destroy themselves trying to achieve what is almost unachievable long term. All too often we see peeps selling top notch kit just to pay household bills etc. Yep it's a free country for people to do what they want (except fuck all is free, not even free will these days?), but as a community we try to give the best advice with the best intentions, even if it means we stray off topic a wee bit, so be it. But you be you ?

  4. Not trying to pee on anyone's bonfire, so no offence to OP or anyone else, but I don't get the stitch counters, it's airsoft, copying the highest rated military forces of any country doesn't in turn make you special, lol might indicate you are speshul?, but it's airsoft, use or wear whatever YOU like the look or feel of, 99.9% percent of players on site won't judge or critique you. ?

  8. Today saw the lad and I travel up to Billericay, the home of three airsoft sites: Airsoft Plantation, Tower Airsoft and Skirmish Billericay. Our destination was the very large Airsoft Plantation, which has a great mix of dense woodland, scrubland, structures and open spaces. A good number of players were in attendance, with a range of ages and levels of experience. After the usual, somewhat amusing, briefing we set off for the first game "A Bridge Too Far". The attacking team (that was us) had to proceed from one end of the site to the other taking three bridges along the way by setting off a siren on each bridge. Once the first bridge had been taken, the surviving defenders had to pull back to within 50 m of the next bridge and the attackers had to regroup at the bridge before being released to advance again; the same applied at the second bridge and, once the third bridge was taken, the game was over. Attackers had infinite regens on a marshal, while the defenders had one life at each bridge. Our attack eventually overran the first bridge after a fierce firefight; the second bridge fell rather quickly as the red team massed behind the bridge, leaving only a very weak force in front of it. The fight for the third bridge was long and fierce and we eventually completed the mission in just over 42 minutes. After a short break to bomb up, the game was reversed. At the first bridge, the lad (dressed in fill 1980s Soviet Mechanised Infantry uniform including shiny brass buttons and foot wraps inside his boots) and I and a few others took up a position in dense undergrowth on the right flank, holding up an enemy flanking manoeuvre for a considerable time until we fell back into the ditch from where we held them up even further. After the bridge fell, we and a young lad fell back to a favourite position in a ditch on the left flank from where we had a great fight with the enemy, inflicting a lot of hits on them before eventually being overrun. The only real negative of the day happened at this point; as I walked away with my hand in the air, shouting "Dead man walking", some knuckle-dragger on the other team rinsed me from about 10m when I was in full sight of him. Sadly, I did resort to uncouth language. Falling back to the third bridge, we waited for the enemy who came storming out of the brush and were shot to pieces; their next attempt was much better coordinated and ended my involvement with the game. They eventually completed the mission in just over 47 minutes. After lunch, the red team (not us), starting at Swaziland, were tasked with picking up a stretcher at the Boat House, collecting the casualty (young Owen) at the DEA base and transporting him to the town hall in the village. As the defenders, we had two lives on each side of the firebreak. The attackers could regen on a marshal. As they could attack from any direction, the first stage was very lively. I initially took position in some bushes, which gave me a great view over three paths, allowing me to hit a number of the enemy before being hit when the enemy broke into the DEA base itself. I pulled back to the area around the Boat House, where we fought off several enemy attacks from various directions. At some point, the lad passed by, having been hit, stating that he was falling back to near the firebreak to cause chaos there as there were enough people defending the Boat House. After fighting off another attack, I decided that he had the right idea and sneaked to the mortar pits, where I had great fun engaging the enemy there, sending several back in search of the regen marshal before eventually being flanked and shot in the back. I fell back across the firebreak and joined in the defence of the village until I was eventually hit twice in fairly short order. The enemy failed to complete the mission in the allocated hour, so poor young Owen bled out. After that, we played a final game where our team, which had eight allocated bombers, had to get three bombs to their respective targets in the mortar pits. Each bomb had to go to its specific target, these being the bus, the UN vehicle and the Freelander. Bombs could only be carried by the bombers and, if the bombers were hit, they lost their bomber status, so it was essential for us to protect them. We had infinite regens by passing through one of the boats, while the defenders had two lives. We started the game by charging out of the three landing craft. Usually, this involves the landing craft ramps being raised by the marshals and then dropped to start the game; however, on this occasion, they were left down as snakes were living under them! The bus was bombed surprisingly easily, followed by the Freelander, but the UN vehicle took considerably longer as it is on the far side of the mortar pits and easily defended. However, we achieved all three objectives, which was a satisfactory end to a very satisfactory day. Weapons used: Me: Ares VZ58 Umarex (S&T) ARX 160 Milbro Classic M1911 (CO2) The lad: E&L/CYMA AKS-74 CYMA AKS-74U ASG XP18 Commander (CO2)

Did a bit of a proper trial with gas capacity. Fully charged stanag and I got 200 rounds out of it which I'm impressed with. Lots of short bursts , did the first 100 then gave the mag time to warm up a bit. Then the second 100 . Nothing left in the gas mag at the end but it did it. Probably 150 reliably in a game . The second 100 were tracers , that was a scream !

  10. No mate, not aimed at you specifically, just an observation from over the years. As I said, I’m a firearms enthusiast who has a particular interest in the GWOT and SF weapons and kit in general. I often find people chipping in to discussions, both on forums and in person, trying to make out that either me or others are in some way trying to pass ourselves off as special forces operators, when that’s nowhere near the case. I just have an appreciation for what they do and the kit they use. Sorry if I came across as having a pop, that wasn’t the intent. Time to draw a line under this aspect of the conversation and allow the thread to get back on track?

  11. Guys c'mon now, no need to overanalyze. Isn't it up to each one of us? As of for me, I want an SF style build because they look cool. And because I think special forces are cool too, although that sounds wrong in the context of armed conflict. I'm not a milsim player or such, I just like replica guns. That's literally it. While I want my build to be practical for the field, I don't even play right now.

  12. for some people the interest in firearms and collecting goes beyond the actual pew pew , they aren’t doing it for anyone else they are doing it because in the whole it’s a difficult challenge to piece together and satisfying once you get to the end . It’s a shame but for some reason there is way more negative “judgement” on people putting a lot of effort into their builds than there is in reverse . Just reading this thread tells you that those people are the first to try and offer advice and help to anyone else wanting to go that route ?? each to their own of course ?

  14. I went to a CQB site with an SR-25 with a 3-9x50mm scope still attached and was still the one clearing corners while others on my team stood back with their SMGs and short carbines too scared to push forwards. All the gucci specialised kit is worth bugger-all if the drills aren't there too. In fairness, it's far from ideal, but it's a core ideal behind recce rifle builds, which is something I've been looking at a lot recently with my m16a4 MWS build. You can clear buildings with long barreled rifles; it's harder and you're definitely better off with a shorter rifle, but it's definitely possible with practice. I think the worst I've taken to a CQB site is a 1J bolt action rifle that I've still managed to clear corners with; at this point it's a point of pride ?

When did it last have a good strip and clean ? but yes a new hop rubber will likely help, be a good chance to check for wear in the hop unit too. I generally run Maple leaf rubbers in my GBBR's and pistols. But I cant remember if the mp7 uses standard GBB / VSR rubbers or not , it's been a while since I had mine apart.

  20. No problem mate, & I'll apologise if I came across as reactive, not my intent & I should have known better, I've seen enough of your posts to know how level headed you are, my bad. In relation to the thread, i served & have hundreds, if not thousands of hours on the weapons platforms we used, most of which are now available in airsoft variants, but I'll be honest & say if I came across said variants onsite, unless differences between them & their real steel brethren were glaringly obvious it's unlikely I'd spot them, so I think it's safe to say within reason the same could be said of other platforms. Maybe it's just me lol, I've seen some great looking gats, kitted out with nice looking sights & other extras, then you read the "small print" & realise its a nuprol.......... ?

  25. Am I right from your description that the grenade is releasing fog which is lit up by LED? The explosion videos do look like flames which was worrying to watch. If they look the same in reality it would still have concerns for sites - if seen without knowing details not would be an immeadiate no, but could still be a worry to a receiving player If it’s just a very realistic effect based on lighting up fog then it would be fine

  26. Retailer and site discounts for UKAPU came out about a decade ago Whether or not they remain or there are others is up to the retailer. Just ask But do bear in mind that margins are narrow, and dare I say it - technical support / after care are an expense to the retailer without income (unless they have an add on tech support service) If a retailer can give a strong discount then consider whether they can offer any decent technical support (Let alone certified technical support which costs money to obtain - unless they are a big enough customer to the manufacturer gaining free tech courses) https://www.ukapu.org.uk/articles/membership-benefits/jd-airsoft-members-discount/

  27. I don't care much for stitch counters either since they can be insufferable bell-ends (I play Vietnam airsoft and other battlesim/filmsim stuff and fortunately haven't had the stitch counters come for me and my half-way-house loadouts yet...). For me as long as it passes the 10m at-a-glance test, it's fine. That said, I can see why some people like stitch counting and putting together authentic loadouts can be very fun; I tend to run with an idea rather than copying an existing military force, so at the moment I'm working on a civilian SHTF loadout and a more traditional post-apocalypse loadout which is more of a fashion statement than anything. I also like my "some sort of PMC" loadouts and CIA loadouts. Funnily enough, most of my loadouts trend towards more civvie style and I think the only loadout I have that is more military than civilian is my ghillie'd up scout sniper setup which is US military based (since I took a lot of inspiration from the publically available US army scout sniper handbook), so the idea of dressing up as a specific military unit does baffle me. I think part of my interest in more civilian-based loadouts also stems from my interest in real-steel shooting, so it's nice to have similar loadouts across both. However, the part of stitch counters that annoys me is when they try and push it on other people. At the end of the day, what makes airsoft great is that there are so many ways to enjoy it and we can all do our own thing. Every time someone comes up to me when I'm running my KJW m700 and says "nice VSR bro" I think I die a little inside and it happens a lot. No one has come up and asked "is that the Specna Arms one?" while I'm running my KJW/Model Works m40a5 yet, but I'm sure it'll happen eventually ?

  28. To be honest you can turn up with the best looking gun out there and still no one gives a fuck or someone may say "nice M4 bruh". ? Same regarding your outfit more or less. For some people drip is important and nothing wrong with that as long as they aren't delusional and they don't become elitist or toxic towards other people. It's more prevalent on a mil-sim event than on a normal skirmish when different people and playstyle mix. But obviously I'm way after my honeymoon phase regarding airsoft I don't see the point to spend thousands more on this hobby.

Also think its an A1/AR15. The first Airsoft gun I bought from long defunct Airsoft Dynamics was a TM M16A1 with a Tri Shot GL launcher. Was lovely even with the 3 part barrel. I say you should trust the beer and have at it.

This is sort of a "How did your airsoft day go" post, but I might as well have this new thread as a repository for future tales of success / woe / dumb questions I bought this little beauty as a proper (two-toned) boneyard item quite a while ago. It shot, but it had a particularly grindy motor with an awful, wheezy RoF only helped to something like normality by banging an 11.1v battery on it. (Not a great long term plan, given the lack of MOSFET). But it showed potential because it seemed quite accurate during the couple of times I tried it out. I started the search for a replacement medium length motor... and found they're quite rare - £45 brand new - and I didn't think it was worth spending that much money on. Luckily I found one on eBay for a bargain price... buuuuuuut I managed to kill it when I fitted it (still not sure how). Up to the loft went poor little Siggy. Well, as I'm metaphorically (and occasionally actually) twiddling my thumbs I thought I'd have another crack at it. Even if it was just back with the original motor, as a garden plinker. Plumbed in the knackered motor and a battery. Smoke. No-worky. Then a good bit of luck for a change - I found an old TM medium length motor I didn't know I had. I swallowed the necessary Brave Pill and took Siggy apart. It may have been the act of cracking the gearbox but the internals weren't in their proper places. I put everything back in place, only swore at the trigger a little bit. And then spent an awful long time routing the cables around so they wouldn't get nipped or cut. Had to take the body apart and retry several times... it's a bitch of a job because the cables always seem to find a way to move as you slide the receiver into place, and they get snagged. Again. And again. But eventually... all back together. And the darned thing works. Properly! As an added bonus it still seems to shoot straight (only a couple of shots in the garden as the neighbours are out enjoying the sun) AND it's banging out 0.20s at 345fps. Result! Now I need to do some proper accuracy / hop testing, to see if it's skirmishable. If it is, I need some mags for it.

  43. How did it work for those who were cast as civilians or the ineffective national army roles? The civvies set up stalls, played roles such as village elder, merchant etc, and interacted with the TF and insurgents. After the bomb went off in the village they joined the insurgency to get the TF out of country. So they got some trigger time from about 3pm on the Saturday. Some followed the action all day, frustrating the TF or army, some were on the radio relaying info to the organiser. The national army dudes had their own objectives. They were left pretty much alone, so probably got these done well. They were ineffective in stopping the insurgency, but great at grassing the insurgents up to the TF for cash, and grassing the TF to the insurgents too! We decided to do them in late Saturday, but they offered to join us instead. Before that, they probably had a few fights alongside the TF. They were well sneaky buggers that's for sure. They cleverly played both ends against the middle as it were. if you get cast in a more passive role but were hoping for front-line action is that just part and parcel of participating or was there some flexibility that meant all the factions got a decent amount of trigger time over the weekend? You choose your role, unless asked to take one as a favour to the organiser as an experienced player. Civvies get a reduced ticket cost, but usually are allowed to choose a faction to support after a certain hour, or event. On the other hand, a pal on our insurgent team had such fun LARPing it up, that he basically played a non-com all weekend unless he had a chance to get a sneaky kill with his hidden pistol. He did three TF players and got away scot free. Since the TF had to avoid civ casualties, he wandered into firefights 'looking for livestock' and generally got in their way. Everyone gets trigger time if they want it. On Sunday, it was TF v everyone else as all of the 'locals' combined. One of the police had a blank firer which added to the atmosphere, if nothing else! If you're up for a game, there's always a welcome and a guiding hand for new players. I've buddied up with first timers a few times. and newbies are identified at the start so that we all know to help. Next similar game that I know of is September's game at Gunman Alpha, it's Namsoft of some description. Take a look at Gunman and Sierra Bravo Airsoft websites. Several people on here play these events, just shout if you want someone to team up with for a first game. Rebel Scum, Impulse, Evil Monkee, and I all do these regularly.
