BBs in bulk
Enid_Puceflange and one other reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
I wouldn't have been surprised to hear all that a few years or even months ago, but I seem to have been blessed with all sorts of ammo that actually feeds reliably in a number of different guns. I'd now be rather shocked if handling Bio BBs did anything to them unless you soaked them in water, left them in the sun, dropped them on the soil and then stamped on them a bit. When BBs degrade they actually shrink rather than expand, according to an article I read that had been published by one of the manufacturers. But of course (1) the tolerances in a tight bore barrel are very fine and (2) one piece of sales puffery on the internet does not equal a scientific fact If you had moist balls, I wouldn't be trying to force them up some tight pipework, that's all I'm saying. Keep them out of direct sunlight and keep 'em dry and clean, but there's no need to get OCD about them2 points -

And a review noting that it doesn't seal and provides a nice route for BBs to ricochet around inside it. Well, you can't fault them for exploiting a market that will cheerfully spunk hundreds on crappy plastic and pot-metal toys that all perform much the same because "u get wut u pay 4 m8". And to be fair, if you added up a decent combination of lid, lower face, Revisions, Peltors and a ExFog, you'd be up around £200. Except that then you'd have Revisions, Peltors and an ExFog rather than whatever unknown bargain bin specials are being thrown into those systems. When the electrics fail or the "polycarb" cracks after 31 days, you can whistle for support or your money back. The part that really winds me up is that they're selling tat at premium prices but they can't even be bothered paying for coherent marketing copy for it: the OneTigris is for "Sooting Wagrgame" and you need to "inatall" things on it.2 points -
do you only get the double-shot with 11.1? overspin. check the cut-off of course but it's most probably too weak a spring for the motor/battery combination. Short-stroke with higher spring and/or 22tpa motor can often fix, or just run with 7.4v2 points

It's finally ready (thanks to Negative Airsoft) - my Magpul M4 with olive drab furniture. Not based on any real world firearm, just a rifle completely done in Magpul's design language; a collection of bits and bobs I find aesthetically pleasing and to match up with the G&P Magpul receiver (manufactured back when Magpul and PTS had a partnership). Came with Magpul PTS tan furniture originally (which I might sell), but I much prefer the two toning here with olive drab over tan, as it seems a little bit more special, a bit more "military" and a bit more uncommon (to me) than tan and black. Very pleased with how it's come together (although Luke suggested that aesthetically it would be better with an EOTech). No doubt the M203 will come off after the first game. Looks cool though! And it's got a Perun, so it beeps confidently which makes me giggle every time I play with it.2 points

Walked into the Super5ves 'showroom' in Lee-On-Solent....walked out with this lot*: They have a decent range of stock with friendly and helpful staff. It's more like an Argos than a proper 'showroom' - but the staff are happy to grab anything from their warehouse and the prices are pretty competitive too. Worth a visit if you can get to it. *The Dye I5's are my son's latest purchase.1 point -
New gnu double-feeding
RostokMcSpoons reacted to mightyjebus for a topic
down the rabbit hole we go.... ok so the problem is simply 2 BB's are getting into the top of the hop unit when only 1 BB should get there. things to check: 1. is the nozzle binding on the cylinder head? rubber O ring nozzles without any lub can do this. It doesn't need to get stuck only slowed down for this to happen. 2. the the tappet plate spring weak? it might be borderline and occassionally not have enough energy to bring the tappet plate forward fast enough allowing 2 BB's to enter the top of the hop. 3. is the tappet plate lub'd inside the gearbox shell or is it lub'd but binding (turn all the gearbox screws by 1 flat to see if the issue clears) 4. not sure if the AEG has a mosfet so there is a chance the nozzle gets into a position after firing that there is enough time for 2 BB's to move into the top of the hop before the gearbox cycles.1 point -

Double Eagle M904g – Aka the Original Q Honey Badger
RostokMcSpoons reacted to Egon_247 for a topic
Ooooh. Had an odd one last weekend. Went on an under 18's day with the kids and encountered what I can only describe as "full auto dad". Just brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr all the time. Not hit calling, blatant cheating and generally ignoring rule 1 of Airsoft. Ie, being a d!CK. So after hitting him 5 or 6 times, him full autoing both my boys from 6 feet away, I thought "sod this" and went back to safe zone to slot the 11.1 in instead of the 7.4. Three shots in and the MOSFET gives me 5 buzzes and no go. Under voltage apparently. On a fully charged 11.1. Weird . Went back to 7.4 and all was well again. Battery flunked? Possibly. (Oh and in case you were concerned, a 0.32 in my mk23 in the head from 10 feet wasn't called, so I emptied the 20 remaining rounds into him. Oddly he called the last one....😁)1 point -

Two red dot sights on the blink...
RostokMcSpoons reacted to Jamsandwich for a topic
I found this video on Youtube when my dot sight started doing the same thing (barely works at all now!), but it's only useful if you can access that part of the sight. Mine has an AA compartment with no access that I can figure out. Maybe calls for a little possibly-destructive playing about I guess as I'm getting new sights anyway. The dodgy one is from Nuprol (yes I know now, that's why I started a thread looking for buying advice).1 point -

RostokMcSpoons reacted to SSPKali for a topic
Sounds like loose contacts inside the unit. I guess it should be possible to open it up and re-solder / fix but I have no idea what sort of level of skill that would require! Plus the sights are usually filled with Nitrogen to prevent fogging when moving from cold/hot environments - going to be a pain to refill that with out a BoC account and a 90L bottle of Nitrogen 🤣1 point -

Two red dot sights on the blink...
RostokMcSpoons reacted to Duff Beer for a topic
I realise it doesn’t answer your question directly, but if you’re looking for recommendations for a decent sight as a replacement you can do far worse than a Holosun 403B. I’ve got one on the MP7 and it’s had about 3000 rounds through it without skipping a beat. It’s been used in 35° heat and -5° cold without issue, and it’s been clattered off walls in CQB. I’d definitely recommend a front lens protector though as having it shot out is an expensive day! Being a proper optic there’s no parallax so if you’ve got something capable of accuracy and consistency the shot will land where you put the dot regardless of whether you can have the perfect cheek weld or not. Between that and the MP7 I was able to consistently shoot helmets and hands peeking round doors at 15m (perfect for CQB ranges), but also through slim gaps and tight angles. I saw one in the classifieds recently for about £150 which is okay, but they’re £180 new so the warranty might be worth the extra?1 point -

Well, if it is a Kingdom of Airsoft Longsword, then it might work. That's one of their standard fUlLy UpGrAdEd packages, and they're still in business, so presumably they know what they're doing with it. Not that I'd pay anywhere near that for what is, at the end of the day, a toy gun that will sling plastic much like any other. And the absolute most that you can pay for the fUlL uPgRaDe is £1345, plus the base gun (half of which then gets thrown away), so he's asking new or near new money for it. Airsofters, bunch of wankers, innit.1 point

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Herrgh reacted to Dan Robinson for a topic
A great day was had at AWA on Sunday. Red team dominated the day by winning every game by significant margins, but I'd put that down to a bias of rentals doing rental shit. One of whom was a rather cocky young lad that managed to piss a few of the regulars off; but instead of it being a bad thing, he kind of became a target of opportunity throughout the day. I took a corker of a shot to the bridge of my nose during the village domination game, which was claimed by two of the green team and it refused to stop bleeding for a good while; but the blood splatters added a bit more authenticity to my loadout. There was a small sub-group of us on each team that were actively going for each other which was good fun as we were camped together in the safe zone. Marshalls were on form as usual with the new gender neutral, standing rule of "don't be a genital" working well. One Marshall needs a bit of nature training as we lost a few minutes of a game due to an enforced ceasefire when a suspected dog was spotted in the game area.... Turned out to be a small dear... But to be fair a few idiots have been caught recently strolling through the game area not realising where they were; and there's nothing like a bit of piss taking to teach a lesson and have a laugh at the same time. I was duel wielding for most of the afternoon, with either the Honey Badger or Specna as a secondary to my SVU. Which is fine, but I need to come up with a sling configuration that allows me to stow the SVU without leaving it somewhere in the game zone. Currently I just hand carry the SVU with the secondary on a single point sling. Got more feeding issues with the two M4s, but I'm thinking it's more down to the mags than the guns. I have two flash mags that work perfectly with both, and that's enough really. The Auto 9 is still being unusable with it either just venting gas, or the mags not locking in place. Good job it looks awesome otherwise I might be upset at the cost LOL. Will see what happens when the ambient temperature reaches double figures, as the Glocks are still not great, but are improving with the temperatures. Will add the official pics when they upload them to Faceache. The site is fairly simple, but the regulars there, along with the Marshalls and owners make it a good chilled day with plenty of challenges. Touching Cloth is still my favourite game, but I prefer it when the objective is on top of The Bunker rather than in The Farm - it's the climbing of the hill to reach the objective with the defenders holding the lower ground on the other side that makes the challenge more satisfying (and painful). Shooting out of the bunker door at the enemy trying to flank you is a fun one (as long as they take their hits). We've had some epic battles there when the mist/light rain has been coming down and people were liberal with smoke grenades. It's close to something you'd see in Platoon or Apocalypse Now. I've found a hidey hole that gives great line of sight to the entrance, but it's next to impossible for someone there to spot you - although those manning the edges of the bunker can see you if they're paying attention. The Farm is more suited to the zombie infection style of games. Anyway... Got home at the end of the day only for SWMBO to declare the grass needed cutting again, so even after 7 miles worth of running around (according to my watch) I had more outside shit to do; but it was a lovely evening, and the boy was in a good mood after a fun day's pewing so it could have been worse, especially as we're trying to keep the true cost of this hobby on the downlow LOL.1 point -

US-inspired scout-sniper/recce kit is basically (most of) my summer kit and is what I'll be taking to AI500 in a month's time. Can use it in the winter too, but with more layers because I don't do well in the cold! I'm counting down the days for it to get warmer... Guns are a KJW m700 and a Cyma SR-25, both usually set for 1.1J because my local site isn't good for guns with MEDs, but can do DMR/Sniper power on both as well, and a TM HK45 Tactical as a sidearm. The sling is a genuine Magpul MS4 and the m700 is the go-to gun (I love that platform!), but the SR-25 is my ever-reliable AEG backup gun for if the m700 decides not to play ball. In terms of kit I carry, it boils down to: Warrior Assault Systems cargo pack (for BBs, gas, snacks etc.) Warrior Assault Systems chest rig with 3x double m4 mag pouch and an admin pouch (all old and mostly not available now due to newer stuff, but still strong; had that setup for 14 years now) Warrior Assault Systems gunfighter belt with slimline harness and (left to right): - 2x double pistol mag pouch, as I like running 5 pistol mags since I use it a lot - Medium utility pouch - Large general utility pouch (with an army surplus water bottle in it) - Personal radio pouch - Small horizontal utility pouch 8Fields universal drop leg holster (slightly modified so it sits tightly at the top of my leg to allow suppressors to clear the ground and not shake around at all when running) 5x mags (all in the belt kit for the m700, 2 in each small and medium utility pouch, but 3 in the rig and 1 in the small utility pouch for SR-25 because those mags are chonk) Vortex Crossfire HD 1400 Rangefinder in the medium utility pouch Odin speedloader (not pictured) also in the medium utility pouch if I'm running the SR-25 I'll typically wear it with Helikon US woodland trousers with neoprene inserts, a plain black t-shirt, Sprinter Custom Ghillie US woodland boonie hat (it's vented, which is nice in summer) and either a 200x100cm scrim net scarf to drape over myself and my rifle when I get in position, or my uncrafted Stich Profi Chimera hood to help break up silhouette. In terms of what I want to add, I might add a medium horizontal utility pouch and some sort of pouch to hold a pair of binoculars for recce duties to the chest rig, but we'll see how it goes. Will see if I can get snapped by a photographer mid-game one of these days, but my focus on staying hidden means that generally doesn't happen. Maybe at AI500, since I'm taking this setup to that and they usually get 1 or 2 across the weekend of me, but it's usually when I'm not doing much so don't expect any action snaps 🤣1 point
