  3. Sure, radius the gearbox (YouTube provides videos) and don't expect a decent response or rate of fire. It might shred the gears, crack the box, or waller out the bushings, or it might not. Only one way to find out. Why though? What are you trying to achieve?

  6. Pretty good day at Worthing all things considered, it was a fancy dress day, but the only costume I had was way too warm for this so I left it at home. Was an incredibly humid one, so I feel like I probably sweated out my body weight in water even without the dress up and running my summer lightweight no-camo sniper setup, but had a lot of fun running the VSR (the HPA one) and negotiating the site with an MED; it's very thick and there's only certain spots you can really play effectively with a 30m MED at this time of year. Some wonderful sneaky sniping was done by myself and two others I joined up with, one in a full ghillie, one in a grim reaper cloak. Got some cheeky angles and had someone moan about me as he thought that my gun was hot and I was shooting within my MED after he poked his head around a corner and I dinked it. Gun chronoed today at 2.29J and I was about 40m away, so was well within my rights; if you present only your head, your head is getting shot. Had an almost flawless plan in the afternoon too. Was a big rolling assault game where we were only allowed to flank on the same level as the defenders, so we couldn't go behind them and shoot them in the back. The way the site is laid out and the order of objectives, me and another sniper decided to go and set up a flanking position on their second defence point (out of 4 total) instead of attacking their first one as we could do so without flanking behind them. We set up without being seen and waited a looooooooooooooong time for our team to take the first objective and push up the hill, waiting to start shooting only once our team was pushing their second defence. Gestured across the path to each other multiple times about how boring it was, but it turns out our team weren't very good at attacking and took ages to take the first base; they never got to the 2nd so when I heard the call of "60 seconds left" I just said "screw it, I'm shooting these people." Took 2 of them out before game was over, but when I linked up with the other team afterwards they said that the rest of our team were basically nowhere to be found. Still loved it because at the end of the day it was the quintessential immersive sniper game. Slowly creep into a hide, wait for a long time without shooting anything, watching the enemy team mill about as they fell back to their 2nd defence point and basically not firing off a shot. Only reason I did is because I heard 60 seconds left and was like "I wanna shoot them..." We even got so bored that the other guy sneakily snapped a pic of me in my really uncomfortable hide position. Short sleeves + dry, dead holly leaves = ouchies. We only had a handful of people walk past where we were (we were largely out of the way of the main gameplay, so only people out of the game walked past us) and only a handful actually noticed we were there when they walked past. Even though it's much harder at this time of year, I'm still loving the sniping. It has been my thing since I started 17ish years ago (yes, my first gun was a BASR!) and I still love it way more than regular style of play. Yeah, you don't hit as many people, but you also don't get hit nearly as much and the shots you do hit are spicy and feel great, and the escape and evasion parts that crop up where the enemy team comes searching for you and you have to get out is exhilarating once you get good at it!

  7. might be they're b rated and the site has it wrong stating f. they also seem to have ANSI Z87+, which some rough calculation appears to be ~3j equivalent for its high velocity test (1/4" steel ball at 170mph). regular Z87 by the same math works out 1.06j. if this thread shows anything it's the absolute cluster that is trying to figure out if something's been tested to a high enough energy for our uses

  10. I run 120’s, purely to take account for the number of shots I miss/get stopped by foliage. If I practiced my aiming I could actually probably get away with 30’s 😂

    THE TM MWS thread

FireSupport often have the G&P npas in, best to replace the plastic screw with a stainless hex grub screw (think I have spares, happy to post one if anyone needs one) With a dab of loctite it doesn’t work lose. https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/gp-marui-mws-gbb-cnc-adjustable-power-nozzle-valve-50 RATech black is good but fiddly to adjust. Think Emporion have them, FireSupport also list them but out of stock (maybe worth emailing them) https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/ratech-ra-npas-kit-for-marui-gbbr-mws Failing that you can make your own NPAS by drilling a small hole in the stock rocket valve and threading a heated grub screw through it to cut a thread. Pretty sure someone on here has done it and posted photos.

  14. 30's for me since I am usually going GBBR. I find that 5 mags and a speed loader easily last me an hour game. I generally refill each mag once ( I enjoy th imersion of reloading mags in a quiet moment) but will generally have a full mag left at the end. I also enjoy the tactics that limited ammo require, working my way closer, making sure I've got a target, double tapping instead of switching to auto.

    120 or 30 rounds mags ???

Thanks for the input guys I think I'll test a few games running all mags on 30 and see how it is, if I do run out mid games I'll maybe change 1 or 2 back to 120

  19. I'd suggest doing 5 mags at 30 rounds and then a single back up at 120. Mark that and put it somewhere on your kit that it won't be your go to mag

  20. Got my Visionking 1.25-5 scope and I have to say I'm very impressed. The eye box is... alright. If your mask allows some sort of repeatable cheek weld then a decent sight picture can be had very quickly, but I think as a Novritsch video mentioned when they compared sights, that if you're in an odd stance or in cover that restricts movement then you may have trouble picking it up as quickly as a red dot. The rest of it really impresses - clear glass, smooth zoom, very nicely illuminated reticle etc. It's a chunk of weight compared to a skinny red dot, but I'm very much looking forward to using it (whenever it is I actually get to play again), because at the 1.25x end of the zoom, it is possible to use it with both eyes open. (I'm sure, as mentioned before, with a bit of practice that it's possible to do that with any sight at low to medium zoom levels) I've ordered a custom protector from Red Dot Engineering on eBay, I'll post a pic of that when it arrives. Edit: The pic looks a bit weird, but it's a good job as usual from Red Dot. £10. Sizes were 30.1mm diameter, 20mm bezel. The zoom lever is a stubby little thing, but notably has a grub screw or bolt in the top of it - is there a generic zoom lever extender that can be fitted to make it a bit more 'glove friendly'? Edit: "What, you mean something like this?" https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313507427413 "£13! Way too much, how's about this" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nO6DUKtwC2U

  21. I was finally able to play with my new variable zoom optic yesterday. I didn't really need it to spot enemies, since the field was quite open. I did however hit one of the most satisfying shots I've ever hit in my airsoft career 😁 Someone was hiding behind a fence, but I could see their helmet poking out. It was quite far away, so I zoomed in to see where my BBs were landing. Thanks to that I was able to adjust my aim and I got him in a couple shots! Felt so satisfying 😃

    What do i do

I'd cut them off and extend the wiring to get into the stock, then decide on what connector to use. personally I prefer xt type connections.

    What do i do

Might be better to cut those off and solder some wire extensions to a plug inside the stock. (Assuming you can do a bit of soldering) If you're near Reading or Bracknell I could do it for you.

  24. For a general game day I would go for 120 or even more. Simply because that's what most others will be using against you. If doing a film sim day then I would consider 30 because that's what many will use and the focus is more on realistic combat. If you don't use that many rounds in a normal game then of course you can use 30 rounders to get a bit more mag changing action 😁

  25. The film is the anti fog coating. It is hydrophobic, so it floats when you apply too much water. I have had several pairs of mega tough Uvex goggles ruined by people cleaning them or leaving them face down in the rain. 100%. Whatever the stated test however, accidents happen in all manufacturing processes. It is simply good practice to test each pair of eye pro, whatever the make/cost/certification. I've tested silly damaged Uvex goggles with everything up to a 40 Mike at point blank. I'd like to blame the k and m keys being close together, but I actually remember typing that on purpose!! FFS, senility gallops ever closer...

  26. I always used 120 rounders. Recently been using a mp7 with 40 round mags and loved it, so switched my ngrs to the stanag mags and 5 instead of 6 and found it was more enjoyable for some reason. Ultimately with the mp7 I have 200 BBS loaded, with the stanags it's 400 BBS and this vs 720 I was running. A big part of that is like has been mentioned, working the gun, doing reloads, checking mags for whether you're nearly empty. At a recent gunman filmsim I reloaded 3 mp7 mags by hand, no speed loaders, as per the rules which surprisingly added to it all.

  27. I think main reason a most of players using mid caps don’t use 30rd’ers is at most open scurmish days your at a disadvantage to the casual players using hi-caps and even the rentals running around with their shitty site AK and a 600rd hi-cap spraying all and sundry left right AND center ! 😳

  29. There are a lot of sites locally. Phoenix as mentioned (although I find it ok), Skirmish Mansfield, Division22, Hells (dust is meh, depends who and if anyone is dragging their feet), Skirmish CQB at Kirkby, Skirmish Lutterworth (short drive). Anzio, Matlock Combat Games. **New site opening at Dale Abbey on the road from Spondon to West Hallam - Killzone Airsoft** that opens Sept 4th. Nice little local group though if you want in on some airsoft banter and kit p0rn https://chat.whatsapp.com/JvQYD3HK9vRDbptDmc2SYc

  30. I really don't know that much about NGRS but I guess it's certainly possible. Part of the issue these are made in China by a Chinese company, they don't have access to TM NGRS guns to experiment because they are banned. Getting them into the country is incredibly hard for them. They can't even get run of the mill products sent from Taiwan let alone Airsoft bits. These Chinese fets have only come about due to the authorities relaxing the laws around Gel Blasters, however I hear that's about to change. Ideally you'd need to design the product here in the UK, working with a Chinese factory to get them made. Is there a big enough market to warrant the cost? Dunno. Monday I'm sending out a few units so hopefully we'll have some real-world data. I'll post up the results here for anyone not on FB.

  32. Skirmish CQB is great. Hells airsoft, as others have said, is incredibly dusty and will take 5 years off your life. For woodland, doesn't get much better than Matlock combat games. Had bad experiences with Pheonix Airsoft. Anzio is close enough too and is a good experience.

  33. Hi Everyone, You won't know me but I've been an avid Airsofter now for 15+ years. Over that long period of time, I've had the opportunity to play at many different sites across the UK and meet some amazing people. I've been very fortunate to play with and against some awesome Airsofters as well as play at some insane sites. But, recently when someone asked me what I did at the weekend, I had no shame saying I played Airsoft, but that person then said "what's that?" and it got me thinking... "Why don't more people know about Airsoft, this Sport I've come to love, why aren't more people taking part and getting to enjoy it too?".... I then came to realize that although there are hundred, thousands of videos online of Game Plays, Scope Cams, RIF Reviews, but little to none focusing on the sites themselves. Some folks may look online, find a site and think "oh this looks cool but.... is it any good? What's the site like? What will I expect" other than maybe a wall of text on the website or a promo video by the site themselves. And what about those who want to try new sites but maybe want a bit more detail about what to expect from somewhere they've never played before? So I thought "Well, I love Airsoft, I want more people to love Airsoft, so why don't I make some reviews for sites so people can make an informed decision?".... So Here we are. A few weeks back I and a few friends of the thussly named Pew Pew Crew (Non Affiliated to the FB group we now realize exists...) visited RIFT Com's Site 3. And we had a blast. Below is the video of our first ever Site Review. If any of the RIFT crew are on this Forum, thank you for a great game day, it was enjoyed immensely. Please comment on the video or hit me up on Instagram with any constructive criticism. I'm always open to ways we/I can improve the review process (After my Wedding/Honeymoon I'm looking to get a GoPro/Action Camera for better content). At the end of the day, I began making these videos because I love Airsoft and the people I've been fortunate to meet over 15 years of playing (and more years to come hopefully). I Hope others will be influenced in a positive manner by my videos to try it out for themselves or to visit a new site. All the best everyone.

  34. Skirmish CQB is an amazing site both players and marshalls are fantastic. I don't mind to drive 45-50 minutes to get there. Hell's Airsoft was extremely dusty last time I played so I wouldn't pay for that experience again.

  35. By the google map, its 45 minutes drive, Derby which is a similar distance, takes me around 25 minutes.

  36. Hell's Airsoft is the only indoor site in Derby to my knowledge. Skirmish CQB in Kirkby-in-Ashfield shouldn't be that far from Nottingham.
    1 point
  37. I live in Nottingham myself, it is a bit of a dead zone for airsoft. Closest site to Nottingham closed down, next nearest is 45 minutes to an hours drive and closer to that site is Derby at around 25 minutes. So its a no brainer in terms of distance.
