  1. Which is still 3x the ROF of a basic-bitch AEG. I'd suggest that this reveals a significant difference in players' thinking. Me, I reckon real-steel ROF of about 10rps is sufficient for airsoft use, and that if you can't hit what you're aiming at with a burst of three or four BBs, then putting ten or fifteen into the air with the same trigger pull isn't the best solution. Even if half the HPA users aren't getting a crazy ROF, then half are. It's the exceptions at the high end that concern me, no matter how few. It wouldn't, for example, be OK to say "Well, there's a sniper out there shooting 0.5g at 4 Joules, but there's only one of them."

I've been after a super blackhawk for a while and finally got one at a none ridiculous price.

  3. I think that the issue often encountered at a site is not necessarily the high rate of fire (yes, you HPA spammer) but the general poor attitude of overshooting. BBs are cheap so why shoot a few aimed shots when you can spam dozens of BBs down range, spray and pray fashion. There are definitely players who can see their BB strike the target but still keep shooting regardless, and they could be on a stag do, a site regular, a multi-glammer, chav, or experienced player who should know better. If you put enough plastic on someone they will eventually call the hit. Mainly playing CQB, high rate of fire is more noticeable due to the close proximity and limited distance between players. I prefer to just use heavy BBs and shoot less of them.

  4. Have to sort of agree and disagree on this , do agree the stupid ‘flappy’ hair triggers can be a pain in the butt at semi only games but I equally find that you have a similar problem when you have sites saying “short bursts” only . Example few yrs ago went to strike force CQB in Gloucester , first visit the rule was semi only and I thoroughly enjoyed it , yes you did have a few of the hair trigger brigade sticking 3,4 or even 5 shots in to you in the time you got 1 or possibly 2 shots off , but not a problem , BUT next time I went a couple of mths later rules had changed , apparently some of the players with bog standard AEG’s where complaining the HPA and high cycle boys had an unfair advantage(Don’t see this but who am I to say ?) SO they then allowing ‘short’ bursts to ‘even’ the gameplay ?????😳 which ment yes if you had a ‘normal’ AEG you’d get 3,4,5 shots off but the others where now getting 10,11,12 shots off in the same space of time ! now I don’t care how big and ‘ard’ you think you are or how much you crow on about “if you can’t take getting hit don’t play !” a 10+rd burst in CQB F…ing hurts and will piss you off if it happens continuously through out the day .

  5. I agree it is a sickening result, due to the sites being all pussy now and demanding more and more single fire Back when we ran AEGs, carrying 6-9 Hicaps, 9.6v 3300a batteries and 20k of spare bbs in your backpack.. (Just incase.) It was never an issue Make full auto great again!

  12. Poor impulse control resulted in these arriving today... 6x lct mid caps for my hk53 1x golden eagle mc6595m The golden eagle is actually pretty nice, this is extremely surprising given how cheap it is! The stock, charging handle and flash hiders are hideous and so replacements have already been ordered. The magazine isnt great while it holds gas (which is shocking for one of these) it unfortunately wont fire the final bb it sits too high in the magazine to trip the bolt stop but too low to be picked up by the BCG.

  14. Other than @Ebeneezer Goode popping in with a good old ‘keep it simple’ with PMR, most have gone straight in with the pros&cons of licenced systems Nobody has asked what @Halointends to do with a radio. Is it for general airsoft use, talking to anyone on the same side ? Is it for talking to only a team group? Is it within a reasonable range in the woods, indoors, an urban area? The best answer for general use is standard PMR, any model, by any manufacturer. Just UK compliant, on PMR frequencies and within the power range with a fixed aerial. The common answer is a fully programmable radio, usually Baofeng, supposed to be operated with a licence and programmed to PMR frequencies illegally operating over authorised power levels A good point is that most posters have pointed out the need for a licence if doing so. Ive used many, sometimes licenced, mostly standard PMR. The ‘best’ handset I have used which gave me great value for money with the ability to monitor comms across multiple ‘channels’ was a cheap and nasty Tesco PMR handset operating on the original 8 analogue PMR frequencies without the sub and did not ‘support’ the sub frequencies. But due to that lack of support I could set it to the basic home frequencies and listen to every sub frequency. eg I was tuned to 1.00 and could only transmit on 1.00, but I could hear 1.01, 1.02, etc Then with the aid of a fully featured PMR I could talk back to anyone Wheh running a game I would carry a minimum of 2, most likely 3 handsets 1) Tescos cheapie - monitoring 2) Full PMR - transmit/receive 3) PMR or licenced handset - event running Ive had a few handsets due over the years, the Tesco ones still worked the last time I tried, I assume they won’t manage to pickup my 16 channel digital PMRs - but Ive never tried

  15. Glad to see retailers taking the moral high ground and sticking to the letter of the law when it comes to selling RIF’s ? 1st scenario , father and son enter an Airsoft shop , child picks up a RIF . ”hello Airsoft retailer” says the father , “id like to buy this gun for my son” “certainly sir” says the Airsoft retailer , “if you could just give me your UKARA number ?” ” UKARA number what’s that ?” says the father , “I don’t think I have one of those” ”oh” says the Airsoft retailer “in that case sir I’m sorry but I can’t sell you that gun without a UKARA number” ”oh that’s a shame” says the father . 2nd scenario , father and son enter an Airsoft shop , child picks up a RIF and then brakes said RIF . ”oh dear Airsoft retailer” says the father , “my son appears to have broken one of your guns and I don’t have a UKARA number to buy a RIF !” “He’s done what !” says the Airsoft retailer in shock “and you don’t have a UKARA number that allows you to buy a RIF ? Not a problem sir , that’ll be £200 please !” sounds about right ? 😳🤫

  20. The only thing high ROFers are doing is burning through BBs. If it just turns into a spam fest of a wall of plastic then it's not much fun. I'm lucky if I get 10rps on my basic gnooz. And that's just fine for me.
    2 points
  21. Unlikely but if you decided to recreate the dukes of hazard and slide over the bonnet and then bugger the spring yeah they'll make you pay😁. Those stocks maybe pot metal but it will still take quite slot of applied force to break them.

  22. The sopmod batteries are just old tech and proprietary. two 1300mAh should last you a game day unless you are ridiculously trigger happy. Really how long to charge them depends on what kind of charger you have and if it's set up for Ni-MH batteries so between half an hour to half a day. They should hold charger for quite a while but I prefer to charge the night before a game just in case. Here's a rewiring tutorial to convert to deans https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DVh-lb41RReo&ved=2ahUKEwjtm-LnmJ_1AhUNZcAKHYKNBmsQxa8BegQIBRAE&usg=AOvVaw2lQ4r0oxSOA-8AuYdOR15G. When you get a lipo you'll be wanting a nunchuck style battery and get nothing larger then a 7.4v but with the highest mAh possible(one 2600mAh should last you a day). Measure the dimensions of your sopmod batteries and get a lipo smaller just so it easier to get in and out your gun.

  23. Exactly, bit of a difference between a hard as nails Victorian prison that looks like a medieval fortress & a london hospital built by the wealthy gentry, presumably to cater for their well heeled brethren. But yeah, it's a shame no one can find a similar derelict location on a large scale, far enough from anything to be of interest to developers, feck all seems safe from the greedy bastards.

  25. Ucap had the use of the Kingston victorian prison in Portsmouth. That was listed and awaiting development for prestigious apartments. We had it for approximately a year. It was a bit of a mess but as everything was built to withstand the wrath of 'wrongly accused'murdering maniacs,we didn't do much damage with our plastic balls 😄😄. I think a hospital would be just what the doctor ordered. 😉 Regards

    Acceptable rates of fire

As others have said this is the problem in a nutshell . Not saying OP is a “insert derogatory phrase or name” but this outlook on rates of fire is the core of the problem . 25RPS and upwards just isn’t acceptable to a lot of players AND is definitely going to piss some other players off big time .

  38. this is kind of the point of the thread, north of 20 generally being considered faster than necessary. can confirm, fell for that trap and the simple version is against a sufficiently plot-armour clad target no volume of plastic is sufficient.

  39. There's a wide range of basic small PMR units that can be had for cheap, most are easy to program and should be perfectly usable unless you're skirmishing over several kilometres or in very hilly terrain. Just make sure everyone's on the same frequency etc...
    1 point
  40. It could be that the ptt output is mono and the adapter is stereo. The mismatch means very low volume. I had it when I connected my sporttacs to a baofeng fist mic using a stereo cable connection. Once I changed it to a mono cable connection all was resolved.

  45. Still not got round to priming. Annual Leave until 10th however too many household jobs needing done. On the other hand, managed a couple of small add ons to the UAR and a bit of bodging err sorry "teching" to fix a design flaw... Firstly, a cheap metal CYMA silencer which has definitely changed the report to a dull, quieter 'thud' instead of the normal popping 'crack' and to me looks the business. Haven't Chrono'd it yet however it shoots fine. Also bought two Battleaxe 380rnd hicaps that have a nice texture to them and a very handy capacity check window. They also improve the look of the gnu in my view. Secondly, there's an annoying design flaw with the magwell that is well documented. Basically there's an irritating spring-loaded plunger that helps push the mag out on ejection. The magwell is also slightly too large resulting in much wobble; the combination of these two things makes many mags not sit right and causes feed issues. Sorted this by ripping out said plunger (its completely unnecessary anyway) and packed out the rear magwell guide with a strip of velcro; now, nice tight mags that sit correctly, feed correctly and, finally, I can use my midcaps... Might get round to priming tonight. Eezer G

I’m gonna defend this item. It is far from needed but it made my alu bolt slightly snappier and gave the rifle a very satisfying sound. A sort of metallic rattle. But for the new club members. # HSB buffer # mod the nub or buy the sixgun nub # actually bring the rifle to a skirmish!!!

  47. Absolutely true, and they are a wonder to behold. But in my experience, that's the exception not the norm. I'm more than happy for people to bodge their TM's with upgrades as it means I'm less likely to get shot as I bimble around at a skirmish.

  48. I'm a big believer in the idea of voting with your feet. If you don't like how a site is run, and the kind of shenanigans the marshals let slide, then don't go. If it's really that bad, then attendance might become low enough that either the site bucks up its ideas or becomes financially non viable. A third outcome is that it will become a site totally frequented by arseholse and every gameday becomes a circle jerk of fuckwittery.
