  1. I wouldn't use one on a fastening that size, i.e. with the tiny extractor that you'd have to use. There's a risk of snapping the extractor, and you might end up with piece of hardened steel to drill through as well. Ask me how I know (spoiler: see above). I contrast that with Irwins bolt extractors which I'll reach for in preference to sockets any time I don't care about saving the fastener. As to slotting it, I'd be surprised if you could do it without cutting into the selector itself. Just drill the head off, you've already got a nice centring hole for it.

  2. Oh, I understand. Yeah, I guess that could work but may cause feeding problems. I had a slightly hot (+~12fps)JG SA58. I did a quick pull on the trigger in auto a few times until I got it to stop mid cycle then left it like that for a few weeks. It works but takes some time of course.

  3. So for those that may stumble across the thread in the futureverse I have finally come up with a solution. I picked up a cheapo weapon light/surefire clone that had a detachable rail mount. Drilled two holes in the plastic handguard and just direct mounted this on. Pressure pad on the other side of the handguard. Doesn't block irons, foregrip can still be taken off for battery replacement (have not re-wired), no "goppy" rails and didn't cost that much. Will report back when if all falls of in the first game.

  5. Well a short detour on the way home from work last night to see Kyle from Hi Capa Hub. AM slide AM Ali guide rod AM Ali guide rod plug AIP 120% Recoil spring CowCow B01 blowback housing I've also got some AIP sights and a trigger coming! It's all @Steveocee fault! Chucking in a red trigger to make it look less like I haven't got my UKARA yet! 😂 Waiting for some.3D printed bits to come in. Hopefully a nice alternate slide for skirmishing and a magwell in black!

  8. Wait whuuut? - you cracked open the gearbox to change the nozzle on (I'm assuming) a brand new gun? Do you mean the hop up rubber/nub? Whilst a Combat Machine's barrel is made from what appears to be compressed tin foil and should be amongst the first things replaced, the stock hop unit/rubber work just fine out of the box. But horses for course n'all that. Anyway... If you are *just* above your site's limit (say, 10fps or so), load some hi-caps up and put a thousands BB's down range. The spring should settle by itself. If you are well above the limit (20fps), then you'll need to either cut/replace the spring - assuming you don't want to revert to stock components. Oh, and welcome to the forum....🙂

  10. Yep, I suppose the distances involved would affect the air seal far more than the feed mechanics.

  11. It's not a great method, but in a pinch, it can work. I've verified it with my borderline hot CYMA, in case I need to do it on site. Of course, it being airsoft, "in a pinch" is likely to become "long term fix".
    1 point
  12. How do you mean?
    1 point
  13. 🤷‍♂️ it loosens the airseal and reduces fps. It's not a permanent solution but it'll do in a pinch.

  17. I'd be fascinated to find out if Specna have gone flat hop and not even thought to list it as a feature. To be honest, I don't view it as one. I've never seen the point of shoving the whole bucking through the window rather than using a large mound, e.g. a Maple Leaf, or to press on a r-hop or s-hop patch. In this case, I can see marks and damage that I infer are from pressing the bucking into the window edges (and a standard nub or omega couldn't push it in far enough to even hop a 0.2g). Bought as new from PatrolBase, I couldn't see any sign of it having been touched by human Western hands externally, let alone internally. It definitely had the flat hop nub, I noticed it because it was so distinctive. I just never made the connection that it might also have a flat hop bucking. They both went into the bits pile, I've now bagged them up together. As an aftermarket part, it hadn't occurred to me that one might be fitted as stock. I think it might have been though, as it matches the nub and I can't think where else it could have come from.

  20. If it has a better seal than the stock one it can certainly cause an fps jump. Replacing mine gave me about 10fps. One method to reduce fps is to put tape on the front of the gearbox to create a slight air leak.

  21. Oof, that's as good a job of rounding out as I've seen. As above, but you'll have a hard time putting a slot in there, and I've never got glue to work on anything that was so stuck that it had already rounded out. Reluctantly, I'd agree with: hex bit, then drill. If you can slot or glue, great, but since they both rounded out, I'd suspect that they might have been threadlocked by some sadist.
    1 point
  22. Few options. Dab of glue on the hex bit, let it set before trying to remove. If that doesnt work a torx might, but you'll want the right size. After that something like grinding a slot in the head to take it out with a flatblade screwdriver. And finally as mentioned get the big guns and drill it out. In future, i really suggest investing in a good quality set of hex drivers, really does make all the difference for the small screws you find in these things.

FPS too high out the box?

Hi, I'd second that advice, I have a specna M4, with a few basic mods, hop up, rubber, nozzle, cylinder. I was struggling to get to a good FPS level- with the stock spring I was way under but with a 95 spring I was over!! The chrono guy advised firing off a load of rounds and it stabilized just under the limit 👍

  24. Are they still operating the genius strategy of not telling you that until right at the end of the order process?
    1 point
  25. Hi there. And Thank you for confirming what I thought. Off to get some shots off 👍🏻 as for the nozzle, yes I replaced the nozzle as I was unsure of the length on the stock one. I replaced the hop up with a maxx sport tracer unit for a few reasons 1. Shiny toys 😂 2. (This is the main reason) to shut my sons mate up who said they where impossible to fit right and make them work. I call that challenge excepted 😁. Yes the bucking and nub was also upgraded for no other reason than why not. As for the rest all stock.
    1 point
  26. try hammering in a torx bit that slight larger then the hex key size, if that fails drill it out you shouldn't have to go to deep for it to pop the screw head then should be able to remove the thread by hand assuming its not been thread locked then pop on eBay buy some assorted size counter sink bolts and should be golden mate

  30. My boy has a Sten that he loves. WWII games are great fun. Dont be tempted by cheap Indian repro '37 pattern, it's awful. As for the Webley, you can get power down shells, or modify the existing shells. If I remember right you drill the gas ports out. A mate fields one to good effect.

    Repainting a gun?

I'm not worried about doing it. I worked as a powder coater for 2 years, and learned how to wet paint there too. The best option for a smooth and tough finish on a polished surface is to clean it with a light solvent, rough it up with a bit of 240 or 400 grit sand paper, clean down with a solvent again, then pass over it in light layers, however I'm after a slightly imperfect finish, so I'll rough it up, then use one or two fairly heavy layers, and maybe pick out some details with highlights and wear. I was just worried about the legal aspect of it. Thank you for the heads up on the design flaw too, that's a useful thing to know about.

  37. I do have to flag up "Not played yet, want GBBR" as a potential way to see another couple of GBBRs appear in the classifieds. We usually recommend AEG -> gas pistol -> GBBR / HPA in about that order as you start sinking your kids' inheritance into this hobby. Find out if you like it first playing in easy mode before switching to hard mode or buying premium gear.

  38. I have just received a Classic Army MP5A3 from Gunfire.com. Product value:£136.99 Shipping costs:£20.73 Total:£157.72 Plus customs charges of £42.67 Cheaper than buying one in the UK, plus nobody has them in stock anyway. Gunfire has a minimum order value to the UK of £135 for the exact reasons stated above, they've stopped using UPS and moved over to GLS because they're less of a shower of shit. Shipment was prompt, the only real delay was in GLS telling Parcelforce what the customs value was so they could charge me.

    Repainting a gun?

it's fine to paint it if you have a defence to the VCRA (UKARA etc). It's a RIF with a silver slide and it will still be a RIF if you paint it black.

  42. Yep it's deliberate all right. 1) Certain elements of industry with unsustainable/unrealistic business models are unhappy that their support of endless cheap labour has been staved off. E.g. the haulage industry (driven by the likes of Hoyer). Therefore the present manufactured "crisis" has been weaponised in an attempt to force a change in policy. 2) Government fuck-ups in all areas of life due to genuine catastrophic bungling incompetence having a knock-on affect in... all areas of life. 3) China wants to rule the world. 4) The media craving to make news and policy rather than just report it.

  45. It almost feels like they're deliberate, doesn't it? Still, mustn't theorise, or conspire. Oh, good news, my pistol grip has now made it to the UK, so I can hopefully bin off the awful Specna grip soon. I await my door being kicked in by a firearms unit firearms declaration demand.

  46. Noticing increasingly long lead times on all manner of items, caused by global logistics issues which in turn were caused by almost two years of disruption whilst the world was stopped for a virus. Shipping container prices have increased by multiple factors, constraining supply and increasing costs massively. Meanwhile idiot lockdown-obsessed governments all over the world are learning the hard way that you can't just turn business and logistics on-and-off like a tap. Things take time to ramp up up again after such sudden and unusual disruption. UK-specific issues adding to the mix include Border Farce and the HMRC/Civil Serpent leeches, an aviation industry still recovering from paralysis whilst simultaneously being hammered by Boris' green bollocks, road transport issues caused by state incompetence and corporate greed (shit wages/Ts&Cs) and an entirely manufactured fuel supply "crisis" that has literally been invented from thin air. These issues will continue for some time.
