  4. How did the dude get to be squad leader? Doesn't seem like he was promoted based on ability... Unfortunately the idea of skirmishing being a smooth running military op seems an impossible dream, unless you had to prove your athletic/tactical/shooting abilities to play it first. At least it's not a giant stag-do like paintball.

  5. I joinded a squad on a milsim game. We saw two enemy squads and they saw us too. They took cover in bushes and ditches. Then the sqad leader ordered us to do a frontal attack. This was our "cover". I couldn't believe it so I took a photo while staying behind. Another disappointment is skirmishing in the UK. It's just paintballing with airsoft guns.

    Washing bb's

I guess a lot of people don't realise that BBs are actually polished, and they come with a slight waxy coating. One of the reasons this is done is to avoid the plastic of the BBs being laid down into the inner barrel and slowly destroying the surface. Snipers don't fire many rounds so they can get away with the residue problem and just clean their weapons barrel often enough that it likely never becomes an issue. However an AEG can fire a lot of rounds in a day and end up laying down a sufficient amount of melted plastic such that it doesn't come off. The waxy coating has two impacts, it gets left behind in the barrel and needs regular cleaning and it reduces the effect of the hop rubber on the BB as it slides past. But compared to having melted plastic in your barrel its a better option.

    Marshals

As others have said marshaling really makes the difference. Biggest gripes for me are if they are blatantly not paying attention to a firefight right in front(once had two marshals chatting whilst two players very close to them wouldn't take their hits for instance) of them or think they can shout at you for minor infringements. I'd heard people going on about how the marshals at Bluestreak get you to do press ups. Turns out they do it only to people who had mags in their gun in the safe zone or went into the game area without eye pro. It's all done in jest but hopefully the safety aspect sticks with people. I still think more sites need to test shoot people though as standing right next to a load of players just tells any would be cheat to pack it in till they move on. The amount of times a player who possibly wasn't taking hits and lo and behold with a marshal within earshot suddenly does is considerable.

  24. I thought it was a good site. It's a woodland site but the vast majority of it is covered in what I think are rhododendron bushes that the marshals have cut paths though with chainsaws as they are impassable. All the bushes make it primarily CQB, although there are some open areas around the edge of the site. The games were typical stuff like capture the flag or move object to given location. There was a game where you had to hold the button on a bomb placed in the middle of an open area to arm it. I found that because the cover was foliage it meant people can hide in it which made for much more tense battles, sometimes you would find it took multiple people getting shot to figure out where someone was. Facilities wise the site is down a savagely potholed road which leads to a small car park. When we went they said they sometimes have 100 people which was surprising given the car park and safe zone were packed with just over 20 of us. Lunch is not provided so you need to bring your own, if it's changed to Sandpit style lunches I would still bring your own Overall I thought it was a good site, only downside was a good half of our team would barely move from our spawn or block lanes. It happens but teams should have really been reshuffled after a game or two. There was also some quite bad hit taking, I raised it with marshals but it didn't change.

  25. It can if it is poorly engineered and made. You can use 2 thinner plies one at 90 deg and one at 45 deg and when cooked under pressure they fuse and it can double the strength compared to one single thicker ply. It will be more than durable enough, we make car doors which have passed crash tests and are on the roads now lol. I personally would not have a carbon gun unless I wanted it super lightweight and then I would paint it. But there are those who love it and would have one if engineered right. You did make me laugh with the saxo comment lol!

  26. Carbon fibre accessories always make me think of Saxo dashboards and Max Power. And then it makes me sad. Unless I'm remembering it wrong CF still has the ability to fail at any given moment from a slight knock in the wrong direction so I'm not entirely sure it'll be durable enough for an airsoft gun...

  29. Expecting my belt rig without its harness to work as well on site as it did when I was clearing room to room in my house. It kept falling down every 5 steps, sagging and smacking me in the arse . It ended up taking the trouser button off my BDU's so they kept falling down. So I was totally immobile beyond maybe 10 steps at a time, I was frustrated and sweating so my goggles obviously fogged up and I couldn't see f*ck all through the tiny peephole on the m14 iron sights which was a bit naff because it was the first time I'd used it so I wasn't much use. Just stood there getting shot a lot lol

  31. Consider the TM G18 too, could be more fun, but probably less practical. TM made the original designs for many airsoft guns, and when other's copy them, they get the balance 'off' by changing materials and other aspects of the systems, TM guns are worth the money, unless the cheaper guns have something specific you desire - other than being cheaper.

Mike cripps who owns the company is fantastic and the customer service is second to none. I got a modified TM hi capa from him and everyone who's used it says it's the best pistol they've shot.

  37. picked these up just now. Absoloute hell cycling to the othet end of Lviv in 35 degree heat. Not the only ones, others were for m8s and not airsoft releated. Cost about 10 UAH for production, and 10 UAH for the velcro. About 80 cents per patch,as they already had the vectors for them

  38. Recently I had a good stealthy kill-streak through The Mall and managed to sneak in a shop full of opp players through the entrance they were using. Out the corner of my eye I saw someone facing more in my direction than out the shop doors like the rest so I quickly turned and sprayed some bb's at him as he turned and did the same. Turns out it was one those pillars with a mirror on it and my own reflection. The noise quickly alerted the opp who turned round and gave me a proper peppering as i was standing there thinking 'doh' (if i'd not paused to 'doh' I could have got 1 or 2 first, or ducked away, but I just stood there thinking 'what a wally', which made me more of a wally)

  39. Must admit I was fooked come 4pm, I did find myself walking a lot rather than running back to/from spawn. I'll leave all that to the young'ns I did find it chaotic to start, nobody really worked together. Not much communication, but in the last hour or so I stumbled on some more senior players who worked a bit more tactically and methodically, seemed to make a lot more progress working in a squad. I guess I'll just need to pick the players I follow into battle a bit more carefully next time!

  41. I genuinely wash mine, well the ones used in my sniper only. I have a 5 stage process that has been refined from the data on the sniper forums, in an AEG it's probably pointless because of the number of variables already in play. However I clean the barrels of my pistols and AEG's every game day, mags are stripped and cleaned about every 4th or 5th game day, unless they get particularly dirty somewhere like the sandpit perhaps. The point of the sniper setup is to remove as much variation as possible. There is a release agent and dust from production on the bbs, the release agent causes variations in the pressure and back spin applied by the hop. Dust and release agent can cause patches within the barrel that might have an impact on the flight of the bb. The sniper forums are very details orientated, and results are published, evidence is targets with 10 or so shots, and variables are tested fairly scientifically, clean barrel + unwashed bbs, Dirty barrel + unwashed bbs, clean barrel + washed bbs. The difference in groupings was fairly clear in my eyes. Someone even tested different washing techniques. My process (which is probably overkill and unnecessary, but it makes me feel better, and mistakes with shots are my fault not the kit) Step 1, hot water and fairy liquid. 5min soak, then swirling, drain. Step 2, diet lemonade (cheap and nasty works fine), this is for the acids. 5min soak, then swirl, drain. Step 3, hot water and fairy liquid, swirl. Step 4, rinse in cold water Step 5, dry on a clean baking tray, on a windowsill in the sun as quickly as possible, store in washed 500ml coke bottles.

  44. I was at the malls, half the team were pinned by fire from one of the shops so I heroically stormed to the side of the shop front, prepped a flashbang and promptly threw it into some camo netting hanging 12" in front of me. I laughed, the marshal right opposite me laughed, it went bang and I went deaf. Good times.

  48. wow had a lot less light when I played there if that is the one where the defenders fall back after being shot to start defending again as attackers push up (walk in the park for tunnel rats attacking btw they are that bloody good....) THAT was the flaw in the game, you fall back in the centre of tunnel to walk back to next point right smack bang into the main line of streams of bb's coming at ya - OUCH getting shot in the back no matter how hard you try to stick to edges of tunnel you have to at some point go around the odd barricade into near centre & F*CK ME OUCH torch and possible back padding or plate carrier mightr be good idea if going to tunnels brill place - top mofo's them rats but a bit " dark & full on " is how I would describe it deffo should be experienced though - just go prepared

  50. Well seeing as how currently I can't even see the contents of the petition I am not going to be signing anything. Other than removing the UKARA requirement what else would airsofters possibly want? To walk the streets with the RIFs in hand? For children to have access to RIFs? About the only thing I think is worth removing is the UKARA requirement from RIF purchases but honestly its a minor inconvience nothing more. You wont find me voting for children to be buying IFs and RIFs, they are dangerous if not treated with appropriate caution and frankly I think that ought to push an amount of adult supervision at all times, in the same way I think any firearm ought to involve an adult when being handled by youngsters. But the contents of the petition isn't clear (just a link to the vote, seriously you got 4 other people to sign it without seeing the wording?) so I'll wait until I can see what it is your asking for.
