Mad Dog Airsoft. Do you mean be a sniper or run a sniper rifle ? Sniping is a way of fighting. You can snipe with any rifle. In CQB and assuming there is cover, you can snipe with a normal weapon. However, if you want to run a high velocity sniper rifle, then it is highly unlikely it will meet the criteria of any CQB site. This means playing a woodland site and there are usually minimum engagement distances. £200 will buy a cheap springer sniper but only just. Many new airsoft players make the mistake of choosing a sniper rifle as their first rifle. Its a mistake because many regret their decision when they have played a few games. My advice would be to rent, play some games and then re-assess.

    JG MP5K suppressor help

Yes, there is a way. If I can find it I'll link you the place I got mine but basically the bit that surrounds the very end of the barrel unscrews (you may well need some pliers to get it out) usually on a 14mm CW thread. Then youneed a +14mm to -14mm threaded adaptor that screws in and then leaves the -14mm threaded bit sticking out for you to attach suppressors/tracers etc. One of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SD-14mm-Barrel-Adapter-for-Marui-MP5K-PDW-CW-to-CCW-14mm-to-14mm-/271669997316 also available from Redwolf, Patrolbase and many others.

    Gun picture thread

Toying with the idea of a new camera angle for the channel. To get this I had to butcher my comedy crossbow for the mount, which is far from stable enough to use in game... But I think it's done well enough to act as proof of concept. Looks pretty sweet I think, and in the videos with the bolt slamming about, as well as the noise from being right next to all the moving parts, I think it'll come out pretty good. Just need to perfect the angle and come up with a better way to mount it now, as well as actually acquire a camera more suited to being in that location.

  12. Systemas aren't anything massively special in stock form, certainly not range/accuracy wise; they don't perform impossible feats of physics defying-ness that no other AEG can perform. Its' highly debated and there are many arguments and defendants on both sides, some say the hop unit they use is a lot worse than your average V2 AEG, some say otherwise. Either way, the range and accuracy you'll get from a TM that's less than half the price of a PTW will certainly be at least very close, if not potentially much better. Not as good trigger response, but that can be improved on down the line if you really find the stock gun so lacking in that respect and use a lot of semi. Plus you get blowback and recoil with a much more tactile bolt catch on the TM guns. Though PTWs do of course have that really easy quick swap cylinder which is nice. The 416 is one of the best options for a recoil gun if you're shooting lefty; AFAIK it's the only AR style recoil gun with ambi selectors. Bolt release is only on the left side of the gun though and that can't be changed, not sure if any ambi mag releases will fit. The SCAR has ambi mag release, only 1 side for the bolt release. The G36s have no bolt catch/stop on empty and both the selectors and mag release are ambi.

  17. Fair enough though if you are looking for sniper secondary for use like spray n retreat kinda thing then this would be one of the rare times I would suggest the G&G Fire Hawk HC05 DSG. Crap for CQB coz no semi but then as a sniper you ain't gonna be doing CQB so worth a look perhaps when considering Ares ??? Anyway I'm done on this It is up to you sir what you decide

  20. Nobody can answer that for you, it's a preference. Performance will probably be slightly better than a lower-mid range gun, but the entire system of hop units can only do so much and the recoil guns shoot at a comparably low FPS in stock form. If you think the recoil/blowback and bolt lock are worth the money to you then go for it. If not, don't.

  24. Bit blurred, but can't really tell exactly what wrong from the outside anyways. The bent spring etc indicates it's all kinda popped out of place inside, possibly due to abit breaking, hopefully not. Think you'll have to take it apart and see if you can tell where it all goes back. If you're left with spare bits or can't quite workout where it all goes then perhaps some clear focused pics of the inside will make it possible for others to offer advice on what goes where.

    1 point
  27. Why is it, that no one thought to correct the OP's use of SMG (in lieu of submachinegun), but the moment someone suggests another lightweight CQB weapons designation by it's acronym, its open season. PDWs been around 20-30 years.

  29. Thing is that there's a lot of people that DO need to have the whole thing explained properly. A little learning never hurts does it? Prime example is that most of the PDWs available as airsoft replicas have already been mentioned here (MP7, MP9, P90 etc).
    1 point
  30. Technically, no pdw fires pistol ammo. Except in cases like the FN5-7 where a pistol has been designed specifically to fire the same ammo as its pdw relation (in this case of course the P90). The whole point of the pdw was to make a weapon with more stopping power than an smg but smaller than an assault rifle.

  34. Steaming/fogging is only an issue if you're using poor quality anti fog. about £15 will buy you a tiny bottle of decent antifog, any less and it WILL be shite. In all honesty you should just rent first, you might buy stuff you don't like or see something someone else has that you like, which you can buy because you're only renting. Also think about where you're going to play. inside you might want a face mask and goggles with all flesh covered. I was playing outside today, I had glasses, shorts and t shirt, but I saw so many new guys with helmet, goggles, mask, scarf etc who were just dying from the heat and not even enjoying it. TL;DR - rent first. comfort And practicality come before looking cool

After getting baked like a potato I went from a PC to a battle belt and my kit will be at maximum load: 1 Triple Mag pouch set,1 Admin pouch, 1 radio pouch, 1 Dump Bag on my belt and either a water bottle or hydration pack. I have never needed any of the extra capacity I had on my PC.

  36. Walking between games at my local, see a kid (couldn't have been much older than 15/16) trying out another player's fast helmet, kid then utters "It's so light, the one I have at home is made of kevlar and is way heavier". Sure, of course it is... Earlier in the day, same kid is spotted during the safety brief giving his younger brother who was less than 4ft tall, and not even 13 years old, what looked like a lolly...until out comes a matchbox and the younger brother sits their casually lighting up o.O We all sit at the other side of the brief jaws dropped.

  37. The base gun isn't exactly well regarded and gas guns aren't that popular to begin with so that'll be why you're not seeing a lot of interest. Couple that with the fact most people aren't interested in upgrades you've fitted because they don't know your level of competency - for all they're aware the parts could've been fitted badly and cause the gun to be worse than it was before. Buying second hand is a gamble. lf people can't be sure what they're getting is going to be good for the money they're just not going to bother with it.

    Vest pouches

If you don't actually know what it is you're missing, then it's not essential. All I have on me equipment wise is ammo, a pistol, my phone and wallet. Water as well if it's an outdoor game where I'd be any distance from the safe zone for more than half an hour or so, but I'm mostly playing small/indoor sites anyway. That's a beefy armour carrier as it is by modern standards, don't load it down any more than you need to. Literally everyone that's been playing enough years goes through these phases, you pile on more and more, realise you're not using it then take it all back off again. Just think about what you find yourself actually really needing to use while you're in a game and only carry that. Don't be lured in to carrying 2 extra speed loaders, 5 grenades, a tool kit, a days' rations and 3 litres of water etc etc etc if you're only playing standard games (around an hour). Some people like having all that on them and that's fine too, but as I say just tailor what you're carrying to the games you're playing and get rid of what you don't need. I can always tell the seasoned players when I rock up to a site as they'll generally have a simple, well-sorted loadout of a small belt or chest rig and a light weapon. Save yourself the 'middle man' as it were.

  44. I'm just watching a lot of videos relating to P*, and they look pretty accurate, have amazing cycle, changeable FPS/ROF (not on field - was looking at locking rig so when chron'd a stay at that speed). It just looks like a pretty bad weapon to do everything and change down to different FPS rules. I know it sounds stupid - but with the overtime I'm getting these 2 weeks I could potentially get one, and build it. I kind of like buying the 'best' or higher platform's and get all the high end stuff, as even know i'm skipping loads of fun by tinkering and what not. My mentality is slightly cost saving to buy the best, and now slowly buy up one level, repeat. Being a newbie, it is so hard to chose what gun, make model, brand, platform, whats the 'best'. Even know there is no 'best'. I've played two games, and am addicted - I just have bad experiences with hire guns, not being accurate as other players. The range on these P*'s are pretty good, plus gas isn't so expensive to fill the HPA systems up, surely over the lifetime of a Gas V.S HPA the HPA works out cheaper but as a higher investment. It's when they mod it up to be like a tank, sprayed pink or with doge stickers you know you will instantly lose. It's like car ricers in the airsoft game!

  49. I'm a teacher, and i think you lack the understanding of the dedication teachers put in. Every teacher has their own reason to become teachers and comes from different walks of life and adding to that it's harder and harder to become a teacher now. it's not easy to get trained and required more study and attention to detail than you think. I think you stereotyping young people based on a small group whom you are right "whom don't give a toss about their lives and education" but I'm teaching and have taught many more if not majority whom likes to learn and at the end of the day do appreciate teachers. I don't want to burst your bubble but where would you be without education now? +++ Back to the point of this thread - what sort of job do people take to fund this hobby? well i think it's quite open, I do agree money is a big part to help fund it but if you live for the hobby it doesn't matter what job you are in; coz you'll find a way to safe up or fund it however you can as you'll know it's worth it. +++ BTW Jambo, I wonder if you can do this in a class room of ~30 kids of what is expected of all teachers currently in the country. Below is the current 8 teaching standards and you are expected to do all that every lesson for all the kids. Good luck. 1 Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils - establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect - set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions - demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour which are expected of pupils. 2 Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils - be accountable for attainment, progress and outcomes of the pupils - plan teaching to build on pupils’ capabilities and prior knowledge - guide pupils to reflect on the progress they have made and their emerging needs - demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how pupils learn and how this impacts on teaching - encourage pupils to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and study. 3 Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge -have a secure knowledge of the relevant subject(s) and curriculum areas, foster and maintain pupils’ interest in the subject, and address misunderstandings - demonstrate a critical understanding of developments in the subject and curriculum areas, and promote the value of scholarship -demonstrate an understanding of and take responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy, articulacy and the correct use of standard English, whatever the teacher’s specialist subject -if teaching early reading, demonstrate a clear understanding of systematic synthetic phonics -if teaching early mathematics, demonstrate a clear understanding of appropriate teaching strategies. 4 Plan and teach well structured lessons - impart knowledge and develop understanding through effective use of lesson time -promote a love of learning and children’s intellectual curiosity -set homework and plan other out-of-class activities to consolidate and extend the knowledge and understanding pupils have acquired -reflect systematically on the effectiveness of lessons and approaches to teaching -contribute to the design and provision of an engaging curriculum within the relevant subject area(s). 5 Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils - know when and how to differentiate appropriately, using approaches which enable pupils to be taught effectively -have a secure understanding of how a range of factors can inhibit pupils’ ability to learn, and how best to overcome these -demonstrate an awareness of the physical, social and intellectual development of children, and know how to adapt teaching to support pupils’ education at different stages of development -have a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs; those of high ability; those with English as an additional language; those with disabilities; and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them. 6 Make accurate and productive use of assessment -know and understand how to assess the relevant subject and curriculum areas, including statutory assessment requirements -make use of formative and summative assessment to secure pupils’ progress -use relevant data to monitor progress, set targets, and plan subsequent lessons -give pupils regular feedback, both orally and through accurate marking, and encourage pupils to respond to the feedback. 7 Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment -have clear rules and routines for behaviour in classrooms, and take responsibility for promoting good and courteous behaviour both in classrooms and around the school, in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy -have high expectations of behaviour, and establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly -manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to pupils’ needs in order to involve and motivate them -maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary. 8 Fulfil wider professional responsibilities -make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school -develop effective professional relationships with colleagues, knowing how and when to draw on advice and specialist support -deploy support staff effectively -take responsibility for improving teaching through appropriate professional development, responding to advice and feedback from colleagues -communicate effectively with parents with regard to pupils’ achievements and well-being.

  50. Are you sure DX115FALCON? The one you linked to is 4 years old, by a different OP and asking a different set of questions. Much of the info on that post may well be out of date seeing as in the last 4 years I have gone from training to be a teacher, to being a teacher, leaving teaching for a rubbish temp job at an insurance company after relocating, being a supply teacher and now back being a full time teacher again. The answer to the OP's question, I am a teacher (as if the paragraph above didn't give that away) I teach secondary science, it pays the bills and I use the degree I got at Uni on a day to day basis. However, I would never expect someone to be forced to go to uni if they didn't want to. As most have already said: think very carefully about what you want to do, and look closely at how you get there. There are often multiple routes to get to any position, some academic like uni and graduate schemes, others apprenticeships followed by training later on, some just starting at the bottom and working hard. Eg hairdressers are unlikely to need a degree, farmer is unlikely to need a degree both have vocational courses or on the job training routes. My fiancée is an oceanographer, she got her job after 2 years of a foundation degree then 2 years at uni topping it up to a full degree, followed by a further year doing a masters. She now works for a large ish company after 3 years of working at smaller companies getting experience. For her the degree and masters is very useful. However she works along side some people who just did 3 years of uni and are in their first post. She has also worked in the past with a guy who started as a deck hand on the survey vessel with no real experience of oceanography only his sailing experience and love of the sea. He would do his crew duties then help out the oceanographers, after a while he started being asked to do overtime as an assistant when they were short staffed, after about a year he got employed as an engineer doing much the same stuff as those with degrees and was sent out on jobs on his own. Me on the other hand, while free schools are now allowed to employ anyone with the subject knowledge and no teaching qualifications to teach kids. Realistically I couldn't do what I do without 3 years at uni and a year of teacher training. I went to uni because I really wanted to be a paramedic at the time, but the ambulance service in my area didn't take you till you were 21, so I had 3 years to kill and didn't want to sit around doing temp jobs or working in factories etc so I applied to uni and got in, I took the course because I really enjoyed the subject. By the time I finished I really couldn't think of doing the training and becoming a paramedic so I applied for teacher training. Only go to uni if it interests you and you can see how you would use the qualification at the end. That doesn't mean it has to be in your subject area, plenty of people on my course took up jobs that are seemingly unrelated but the Uni quals show your ability to learn new things and complete work to your own timetables. Only 3 of 40 are actually working directly in the field we were studying. If the cost is putting you off remember that you apply for the loans and stuff, they are the best rates you will ever get, they come out of your pay packet much like taxes, national insurance or pension contributions. I think I get about £50 a month taken. Each year I get sent a statement saying how much I have paid and the amount of interest, it's actually not going down very fast but it's not like they send bailiffs round to take stuff. Also banks couldn't really care less in terms of credit ratings etc.
