Are teams with red armbands in the disadvantage?

At my regular site we only wear one armband but they are worn on opposite arms so if you can't tell what colour it is, you can tell by which arm its on.6 points -

I don't tend to worry about what colour arm band I wear, my fat arse can be seen eclipsing the sun at times, if that's not bad enough the sound of what can be described as a pissed up bear stomping through the woods looking for a tree to shit behind would give the game away... an arm band would only alleviate any potential fear my pretend enemies had, milliseconds before firing many 6mm BB's in my direction. Please excuse the language, me just being me.5 points -

Armbands; the name sort of gives away where they should be. Putting them on the plate carrier also causes issues if everyone is looking for them on the arms. I cannot see why people won't have them clearly displayed on their arms, unless they are trying to gain an unfair advantage, which is otherwise known as cheating.4 points -

Cannonfodder and 2 others reacted to Emergencychimps for a topic
If it's such an issue for you, attend events and sites that based teams off the clothes etc you wear and don't use arm bands. Ultimately, it's a team based game and most skirmish sites do that team designation using an armband, which based on the name should be on the arm, not the wrist, ankle, plate carrier or your left bollock.you know this before going to a site and paying your fee. Just because you've chosen a special outfit for the day, I'm struggling to see why other people who have also paid should be at a disadvantage of not being able to determine your team as quickly as the any other player on site. As the anomaly you are the issue. I do sympathise, but it isn't real war. I've played against players in woodland both with arm bands and against arm bands and if you're sensible, it's not that much of a big deal. I've certainly had days of being slaughtered by arm band wearing players.3 points -

Saw your picture on FB, been meaning to drop by that comment section to see how it's going. The orange arm bands are shiny new, I was there in mib Feb and we used blue and yellow, both sets needing a wash.... Big fan of sites that do double arms, and also red right other left, although I do have a hi team kill count from not having coffee that morning..... Ghillies? Fuck em, both arms above what ever foliage they have but on themselves2 points -

<but-why.gif> The X-ASR just does trigger protection and (maybe) allows for more current slow. However, it also likes to pet its lip if you are running a meatier motor and spring. Something like a Perun AB++ gives you far more features. Motor and/or run 11.1V. I like the Big Dragon M140 as a decent improvement over stock motors for not a lot of money when bought direct from Ali Express. Heaver BBs, clean the barrel and maybe fit a Maple Leaf bucking (e.g. 60 yellow) and omega nub. The stock M90 spring in the Specnas can benefit from being swapped out for something stronger, but air seal uber alles, and I'd always recommend buying a chrono first before doing anything that might effect the muzzle energy.2 points -
Woodland I don't mind so much because you more typically know that the badmen are over yonder. In CQB, I dislike mid-blue or dingy-red versus bright-yellow. When milliseconds count, it's so much easier to positively identify a target when they're wearing something bright. And both arms, please, I don't need to be doing the mental gymnastics of inferring a positive from a conditional negative. This gets even worse when you have unbanded marshals wandering around too. Of course, a team-kill is a kill.2 points

I like this idea as it helps ID what team a player is on whether you can see the arm band or not I'd put those who put it on their ankle in this group too, no matter how they try to spin it that's trying to hide the armband and is cheating in my opinion. They're usually the loudest to start bitching when shot by friendly fire too I do agree that it's a bit shitty to have one team using green while the other uses red, switching the green to blue would even things out2 points -
I'm sure we have bright pink and bright yellow at our site. So both fairly visible. I wish more sites would use an arm band on each arm though. It's frustrating being team killed when wearing one arm band because someone can't see what team your on.....despite facing and having your RIF pointed in the baddies direction.2 points

I don’t have a problem with wearing them on my upper arm but that is a bit problematic with the Viper hood. Wearing a high viz arm band on your wrist however signals your position a lot more than having it on your upper arm (due to the way you hold your RIF). IMHO the arm bands should not be to spot a player but to identify one once you have spotted them.1 point

WE F229 Mag Compatibility
Jamsandwich reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
All I can tell you is that when I purchased mags a few years back for my We F228 ( i.e. the non railed version of the F229), the mags I bought were specifically marketed as being f228/f229 mags. Which leads me to think that potentially a 226 mag may not be compatible. But that said, I didn't think that the 228/229 had a shorter or different grip to a 226 (unlike e.g. a glock 19 Vs 17), so it might be something as inconsequential as the aesthetics of the baseplate. Also, appear in stock here: https://www.dkarmaments.co.uk/product/we-f228-f229-magazine-black-gbb/ And here: https://www.ammodrop.co.uk/we-24-round-magazine-for-f228-gbb-black Etc1 point -

Looks good! Though I had to do a double take at first. That sling made me briefly think it had a thumbhole stock on it XD1 point -
Aren't they expensive? I have also read online that the stock one is good and the upgrade would be as minimal as changing the barrel. I built a mk18 style AEG from a Specna Arms Core 04 and still run the standard blue plastic hop unit in it to this day and that AEG has some good range on it. The hop unit very rarely ever needs changing unless it's adjusting itself when in use. Changing the bucking & nub is all you need to do - I mostly always use Macaron 60 degree and the Omega nub. Inner barrels are subject to a lot of arguments. Some claim that the stock brass are fine and probably just need a quick polishing. Some inner barrels are cheap enough that you can buy one and see if theres much difference. AK2M4 has his own range of inner barrels that appear to have a massively better polish/finish than the similarly priced ZCI offering.1 point

Hop units don't have to be expensive. If yours works OK and doesn't slip then keep it in.1 point

Will purchase one later today. Currently have 7.4v's. Aren't they expensive? I have also read online that the stock one is good and the upgrade would be as minimal as changing the barrel. I already made the purchase years ago so I will try it out anyways. Perun AB++ is £48.00 so want to avoid if I can to keep costs low. Ordered. On its way already. Ordered. On its way already too. You recommended me this 2 years ago haha. I'll do some testing to see the difference once the chrono arrives.1 point -

A cunning trick to adding more tie off points (e.g. to tie the centre of a tarp up if there isn't a sewn in loop provided, or to repair an eyelet that has torn out), is to use a small pebble, nut, coin or similar on the underside of the trap., then gather the fabric around it, and tie off against the 'neck' of that.1 point -

Rogerborg reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
Red arm bands, i wouldn't say put you at a disadvantage - but orange vs green - very much so! OP - looks like your bands in the pic are orange rather than red?! At my site, there is always a scramble to get the oldest and dirtiest bands when the crate of them comes out! I think two bands should be the norm. One on each arm; or one on the front, and one on the rear of webbing/plate carrier. As i wear a viper hood fairly regularly, placing them on the front and rear of my chest rig means they don't become hidden by the viper hood - and remain just as visible as if they are on the upper arms i think. Whilst i have a degree of sympathy with Ghillies putting them on their ankles for cam reasons, I have no qualms in shooting them if, after a reasonable amount of effort, I remain unable to see their bands.... And actually, this is usually mentioned as a viable action during my usual sites briefing.1 point -

You can't use a UV5R on PMR 446 frequencies legally because the UV5R puts out 5w which is over the mikitnfor someone without a licence Get UV-5R's and a business license from OFCOM and use the designated frequencies they assign the licence to cover your arse, it's like £75 for 5 years and you can have unlimited people under it1 point -

Tommikka reacted to Colin Allen for a topic
Using green armbands at an outdoor site seems wrong as it does confer an advantage for that team; the same, of course, applies to sites that give one team armbands but not the other. In my opinion, armbands should be worn either on both arms or on different arms by the two teams. Players who put them on their plate carriers and Bush Wookies who wear them on their ankles are cheating and should be ritually disemboweled.1 point -

Also, I was going through some links and realised there are some dead ones, will do some spring cleaning when I get a minute. I also want to be sure they are actually permanently gone as opposed to just temporarily down. Looks like gunnerairsoft may be having problems, kinda sad if it's gone as it's one of the og ACM RIF shops, not that i have actually used them inside the 2010s onwards1 point

Body worn video for marshalls
Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Dan Robinson for a topic
I know perception is a bugger - I've spent ages looking for tools that I was already holding in my hand. I would argue though that his change of direction appeared very intended, as with the stop on the RIF. Adding things together and I feel it not unreasonable to surmise that he was being a cnut in a number of different possible perceptions of the incident. We know he did it. So it comes down to intent, or not. I find it very very hard to accept he did not realise he did it (by mistake), so the cnut charge stands because he didn't come forward for reasons above (the ground and roots just don't feel the same as a RIF no matter how you cut it) and say "sorry dude I didn't see it on the floor - is it OK?". I find the way he changed direction, moved, stopped and moved on to be very deliberate - and that's before we take into account the fact that that gun looked nothing like its surroundings - which were more or less bare earth and a few small, light grey/brown twigs. A socking great big, green, M14 and scope would be pretty obvious. However - the silly sausage that owned it shouldn't have left it like that.... I had a bit a WTF moment when I saw how he left it in the building at the start of the video... Initially I thought that was the incident in question until i saw the timestamp. Just my view on a three year old incident... Now as the other poster said in that thread - can we get back to talking about how fricking awesome I am?1 point -

Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Dan Robinson for a topic
Fuck me that was a rabbit hole.... to save reviving that thread - it was a blatant stepping on the RIF. You would notice the different feel to the ground, and attached tree roots don't move like that - and if they were loose you would look down naturally to check your footing if only to protect your own pew from "death by fat fuck falling on it". That's ignoring the laugh at the end and definite pause in step and obvious change in direction of his walk.1 point -

The police were on the phone to her last Thursday for a witness statement due to an incident that she witnessed whereby a young nqt had two large handfuls of hair ripped out by an eight year old who claimed she pushed him and who grabbed her hair to stop him falling. All lies. Another teacher at same school had her finger chopped off at the second knuckle due to a lad forcefully kicking a door shut while her hand was on the door jamb. Every night she is doing half a dozen cpoms regarding bad behaviour. I'm glad she only has another year to go.0 points
