Alex, welcome, don't sweat it, most airsofters are a very friendly bunch & you'll usually find everyone is soon chatting to each other in the safezone, with exception of those cheating hpa wankers, they're usually sitting in the corner on their own fiddling with their regulators, or each other ?5 points

It all comes down to the quality of the material / steel used and how it's been "treated". You can have have springs that can be in service for decades, in industrial applications, that retain their strength and shape but cheap nasty ones that compress incredibly quickly. Personally I've found the XT springs from AK2M4 brilliant, definitely better than another trusted brand like Guarder. They're really consistent in their strength, so you can use them in almost any gun and know what you're getting, and I've had zero power drops over time. They also produce an M95 which is very useful is you have a great air-seal and an M100 takes you just over a Joule limit4 points

The only way to police that is to test in game. Do that, do it a lot, and many of these issues will get caught. Don't do it, and whatever you did it at the start of the day was just theatre.2 points -

Welcome ? Sounds like you'll be a valuable member of a group. Don't worry about joining a team though. Most of us started alone and just formed groups naturally. As said above, to be UKARA registered, you need to play 3 games at the same site with a 2 month minimum but some sites don't pay attention to the minimum criteria. Just play your 3 games and then ask them to register you. (There will likely be charge around £10)2 points

Questionable politics and airsofters
Rogerborg and one other reacted to Tactical Pith Helmet for a topic
We can only hope that some tit doesn't decide to play in a Wagner loadout hoping to claim some kind of theatrical/themed game defence and a bit of public notoriety. 'It's a character in a game, I don't support them in real life,' type thing. There's sometimes idiot willing to engage in puerile edgelord shit. A separate point is that there are quite a few Chinese cheapo skull, and also crossed daggers patches around. Fail the attitude test and an officious copper could make a case that you were representing the logo minus the writing. I suppose it's another example of needing a single well briefed airsoft organisation to speak to the media in case of individual idiocy. I'm not a fan of this type of law. I'd rather fools outed themselves to social ridicule than expose us all to the risk of legal sanction/restriction.2 points -

PADDY'S LAST WILL - Paddy was on his deathbed and knew the end was near. His nurse, his wife, his daughter and 2 sons are with him at his home in Belfast. He asks for 2 independent witnesses to be present and a camcorder be in place to record his last wishes. When all is ready he begins to speak: "My son Seamus, I want you to take the houses in Cultra." "My daughter Geraldine, you take the apartments over in Malone Road." "My son Patrick Junior, I want you to take the offices in the City centre." "Bridget, my dear wife, please take all the residential properties on the Upper Lisburn Road ." The nurse and witnesses are blown away. They did not realize the extent of Paddy's wealth. As he slips away, the nurse says to his wife, " Mrs O'Shaughnessy, my deepest condolences. Your husband must have been such a hard-working and wonderful man to have accumulated all this property".. "Property?”, his wife replies. “The bastard had a window cleaning round.1 point -

In your original post you said you've done over 20,000 shots but now say 15,000 ? Are you rolling back the pedometer hehe... Technically the statement is correct though ? I've been offered Solink motors wholesale, and their other products which are SHS OEM. I'd like to see a good 500,000 cycles on the motor. One thing I did find interesting was a slim brushless1 point

I've been both solo and with others. The only real difference is having a bit of a chat before the game. There's no formation or even team tactics once you're out there, so you often lose sight of the people you've come with anyway.1 point -
Spring strengths...
gavinkempsell reacted to EDcase for a topic
Depends how much you want to reduce the power. You can reduce it around 5 to 10fps by leaving the AEG semi cocked for a few days. Using AUTO do a quick trigger pull so it doesn't fully cycle so the spring stays compressed. (It only works if it doesn't have a MOSFET to complete the cycle) Leave for a few days and test again. Repeat if necessary1 point -

gavinkempsell reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Double Eagle springs might be made out of Kraft Dairy Slices, they seem to go all the over place in fairly short order, but my other guns have held up quite well over time. It's the ultimate 'YMMV' story. So buying gats with quick change springs makes a lot of sense ?1 point -
Full SHS compression parts and gears I believe - not sure what ratio just went with whatever he thought was best for the gun. Warhead brushless motor. Perun hybrid v2 mosfet. rotary hop with macaron 60° bucking and zci barrel. shoots about 340fps on a .20 and hops .32s with ease nice and far1 point

I started playing late last year and have been going solo. I found it weird at first and was a bit uncomfortable but eventually you'll become comfortable especially after a few times at the same site. Third time playing at a site recently, got talking to a guy and before you know it we were playing as buddies all day which was a ton of fun, so its definitely possible to make friends if you persevere1 point

I don't know why there is such a fuss over aerated concrete in schools at the moment. I remember being served it on a daily basis in the school canteen.1 point -
As a complete newbie to the game, I've now played twice at Alpha55 in North Wales over the last couple of weeks. The first day I completely forgot that I am an overweight, unfit 50 year old and was running around like I was still in my 20s. A couple of hours in and I slowed down. Really slowed down but it was still loved every minute. Slowing down let me play a different game. I used to play a lot of paintball when i was in my teens and remember it being a rush of speed to get to the flag but, I've realised, airsoft is a much more tactical game and by the end of the day I was talking more to my team and planning the attack. I was absolutely worn out by the end of the day but I havent grinned like that in a while. The week after I booked myself and my 15 year old daughter to play at the same site. It was so hot, even at 9:30, that the old DPMs I'd brought for us were discarded and we played in just our t-shirts. She was a little apprehensive of being shot and held back in the first game but soon got into it after the inevitable hit. We worked well as a team, giving each other covering fire as we pushed forward to the objective. I was so happy, and really proud, of being there with my baby. She hates it when I call her my baby, but she is the youngest! I talked to a lot of people there, especially on the second day, about their kit and equipment. Ive already done a deal on a 2nd hand, but hardly used and like new, Valken RIF. Its the same as the sites hire RIF so I'm quite comfortable using it. I know its only a starter and I will probably upgrade to something better in time but for now its brilliant. The site is great. It's all woodland with a lots of different buildings, towers, CQB areas and the like. It was very well run, very professional. It made me feel safe. The hire kit was great, all well looked after and unlimited BBs. On the first day I used about half, of the supplied 2500 ish, over the day. On the second day i had to refill my carrier twice! My new spending addiction is coming into clear view!1 point

I felt the need to show this one off. After years of searching I somehow managed to stumble upon this wonderful TM Aug A1 with the steel HBAR kit with the correct bipod and flash hider. Not sure how rare these kits are but I’ve only come across a small hand-full of these. Just wish I could get myself a drum mag for it it. The inner barrel is a ridiculous 655mm in length1 point -

Raise with the head marshall/site manager for both of those instances. Blank fire can add to the immersion of the event, but I'm sure no site organiser would want to alienate customers who don't want it included. It might be that they add in a "we plan to allow X person to use their blank fire pistol today, if anyone objects X person won't" etc. The coloured zip tie thing is cheating other people's health and safety and absolutely has to be dealt with. If after being given the opportunity to manage these things they continue and the head marshall is aware. Name and shame the site on a forum/Facebook and vote with your feet by not returning. If you don't name and shame, it effectively encourages sites to bend for regulars etc and puts other players in a position of supporting a company that has practices that they wouldn't support or puts them at risk of serious injury.1 point -

Setting the machines up to do them rather than as one offs, which is time consuming for now but faster in the long run. Have discussed doing them for the Spas 12s with more detail which will be a little more expensive but I'm sure there will be a market. It's significantly cheaper in terms of tools to make the pump channels go all the way and fill with a tab. The sheriff Spas 12 cage is made like this.1 point
