  2. I walked into my local a few years ago and the barmaid remarked that I smelled 'lovely' and that I never usually used aftershave. I had to confess that I'd fumbled a can of GT85 and sprayed my t-shirt with it rather than whatever motorbike part I'd tried to aim at... GT85 is Teflon based. WD40 is 51% thinners according to the T.U.V. datasheet. WD is only good for initial water dispersant or cleaning. It rots rubber and causes rust long term. GT85 for the win!

    Gun picture thread

Been posting these old photos (around 2010-12) on social media then remembered they've never been on here either, only Arnies back in the day. The quality isn't a bug on the forum or anything, the images are just intrinsically that low resolution. Couple of iterations of my 14.5" NGRS back when I had the King Arms CASV. These days it has a carbon fibre handguard so it's just a tad lighter than the EGLM setup.

  4. The key word there though is "negligent". Unless you're trying things like a tracheostomy, applying a tourniquet, plaster or splint isn't going to get you in trouble. Anyway, as any good tradesman knows. The only first aid kit you need is a bit of leccy tape and some bog roll.

And this is probably a good point to get across in this topic. Leave first aid to trained professional if at all possible. If they need your help they will ask for it. To give an example, an old bloke, not unlike myself, falls over and stops breathing. You arrive on the scene and decide to administer chest compressions after doing the ABC's. Now some of the older gentlemen on here will jump in with 15 and 2, some of the slightly younger peeps will go for straight compressions and the new kids on the block will be doing 30 and 2 as per the current guidelines. It turns out that it was in vain and the old fella never recovers. sad times all round. Now, the old fella was a top bloke but his family turn out to be arseholes. All 3 options above showed a willingness to preserve life but only 1 was concurrent with the latest guidelines so anyone doing either of the first 2 could be liable to a negligence claim. probably most of you reading this will be thinking, "I'd do it anyway" which is the right answer but just remember the world is full of arseholes. Also don't be handing out over the counter drugs to people as you have no idea of their medical history or what other medication they may have taken.

  6. FYI I've never had any replies from DE when using their website form, however they have a Facebook presence and do reply (eventually) to messages you send to them on that (and their parent company is on LinkedIn). Red Alert in Newbury also use DE M904G's as rentals so they may be worth a punt (Skullchewer on here could maybe ask for you). Worst case scenario a GATE Titan v2 will drop straight in (with no need to replace the trigger, but the Maxx Model trigger for example have a tougher trigger spring).

  7. 100% this. Movement and sound will give you away regardless of whether you look like a bush or not. I've experienced this a couple of times, standing-up in light cover 5 feet away from the opposing team dressed in blue urban camo, and they just walked straight past me. Often players are so fixated with the objective or a target, or are crashing around woodland and talking loudly, they fail to notice danger right under their noses. The best players are the ones who know when to keep still.

  8. I recall one game where the boy nearly got crushed by my own fair feet. He was lying in long grass in nothing more than a basic DPM outfit, boonie hat, and, I think, his two tone m16. Me and two others walked straight past him and his mate .... Good job we were on the same side ??? We were even looking for a "crashed drone" , so actively scanning the area for things. Totally confirms the field craft aspects of being Sneaky Bois.

  9. There was a lad turned up to our last game in full Templer night gear, breastplate, helmet gauntlets, white tabbard and sodding great sword. Last game of the day he had 5 lives and about 6 guards , everyone else had to hunt him. No one ever spotted him, shiny metal and white tabbard and he still managed to conceal himself so we never saw him.

    Hi all, new member

Hi all, Got into airsoft properly this year, because my oldest lad wanted to start, although I had a few airsoft pistols back in the '90s, they ended being sold/traded within a few years to concentrate on my airgun shooting. Overall, I've been shooting for 35 years, including qualifying as an airgun shooting coach, however, since that certain bug a few years ago, my air gunning has taken a back seat to my other hobbies, although I still have access to an 8.5acre woodland. Currently we just have our 2 tone AEGs, but we'll be looking to build our collection, only been to Driver Wood Activity Centre to date, although Dogtag is as close. My lad suffers with a few health issues, and sometimes finds it hard going in a woodland setting, so wants to try an indoor CQB site, looks like the closest is at Epsom, so will look at going there when the weather turns again & the ground gets too wet for him. My other hobbies include freshwater and beach fishing, outdoor activities, 4x4 driving and amateur (ham) radio, so you could say I've been socially distancing, before it became popular. With 5 kids and a patient wife, my spare time has to be divided between them all, their own hobbies, as well as mine.

  12. Those are some whacky numbers there. Sometimes, with Gbbr's it not about the consistancy, it's the experience. Post a pic of the pin, some airsoft super tech might be able to ID it for you. Although you may find out when one of your pews falls to bits mid game

  13. Quickly went out and bought some wet weather gear as it's supposed to be horrendous tomorrow. Surplus Goretex DPM jacket and trousers as I couldn't get MTP. Hopefully the Goretex lining has held up all these years and I don't get soaked through. At least skin is waterproof Grabbed a US style poncho just in case of showers that don't warrant full wets.

  15. It's been a while since I had official First Aid training - it might even be as long ago as being at university (24 years) when I was a counsellor - where we had to potentially deal with anything from pissheads falling over after the bars shut through to suicide attempts and campus muggins. Thankfully it was always pissheads... Or Stoners knocking on the door looking for Rizzlas because they knew there was always two people on duty. ?

Some great replies here, and honestly I didn’t expect this much! I guess the take away message is: carry the basics, but be trained in it. As I’m an Ambulance Tech I carry a trauma kit with dressing, CAT tourniquet, gloves and pulse ox on my vest, with a standard FAK on my belt. Would 100% advise people to get trained, I’ve been in too many situations at work and elsewhere where literally having the basics could have made so much more difference. Get training, be fit peeps.

  17. Might be better off just sticking a Perun Hybrid in it and call it done. Much better unit than the Falcon anyway. I will be selling off my M904G in the next week or two - I'm thinning out my collection and I have a bunch of other M4 platforms that I can use.

  20. Yeah - the little handle bit on the end is plastic with a rather small looking pin holding it on. So will look at getting a spare in...// [scroll forward20 minutes]... you gotta love oriental websites and their horrible layouts ? Found it on page 37.... http://en.ratech.com.tw/english/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=176:rag-we-094&catid=27&Itemid=119 And in the UK - https://www.milspecsolutions.co.uk/gas-blowback-parts/we-rifle-parts/we-g36-(999)-parts/WE-G36-(999)-Cocking-Handle-Set.html for my future reference as much as anything... https://www.milspecsolutions.co.uk/ra-tech-we-g36-g39-series-charging-handle.html Gave the barrel a nice clean, so will have a play with some mags tomorrow and see what can be done with the hop.

  21. As far as I know, its a clone of the WE G36 so should be compatable with any WE spares. RA Tech do a load of parts for the G36 but I would just leave it stock until it breaks. However, I have a few RA Tech parts in my WE G36. I don't know if the AA version has a plastic charging handle, if so, I would recommend getting a metal one as this will 100% break on you.

I carry a Tasmanian Tiger IFAK pouch on my belt with an Israeli Bandage, Quick Clot, burn gel (seen many a burnt finger from pyro), gloves, a normal bandage, and some plasters. Having knelt down on all sorts, and having seen Dog Soldiers one too many times I carry it to stop proper bleeding enough to get out of the woods/game zone. Considering the size of some sites it could take 10 minutes to get first aid to me, and that’s no bueno for a decent bleed. It’s for me to make sure I’m okay, or for someone else to do the same. It doesn’t have anything in it that can cause me proper harm before the marshals get there.

  26. I'll have to disagree there, all my guns are totally stock and I think I manage to do ok with them. As for ghillie suits, I really couldn't give a monkey's what another player is wearing as long as they call their hits. The trouble is too many people think a ghillie suit is a magical invisibility cloak, whereas in reality the best camo in the world is useless if your fieldcraft is crap. Agreed. Although it does make me laugh when said bush wookie starts moaning about recieving friendly fire because their team mates can't ID them either
    1 point
  27. Regarding the armband, everyone should wear one unless it's an event where they aren't in use (filmsim, tans vs greens games etc) and if everyone else has to wear it on the arm, so should the ghillies. Similarly, if ghillies are allowed to wear it around the ankle, then me in my regular t-shirt and trousers should be allowed to wear it around the ankle as well. You're more likely to be shot by your own team than get spotted because of your armband anyway; two things that have never given me away is me having my face uncovered and my armband. Also, people who conceal their armband underneath ghillies are cheating. I've seen people craft extra stuff around a part of their arm so that they can put the armband on and then cover it with ghillie material. Also, it's very true; the ghillie doesn't make the sneaky bastard and I always advise people new to sniping to hone their playstyle without running one at all. You can dress in the gucci-est, most well-crafted suit, but if you don't understand camo and concealment fundamentals you're going to get spotted all the time. Other part of the reason I don't ghillie much in the summer; it's good to keep skills well honed. I definitely think this is part of it. When I started, very few people ran ghillies (I literally knew 3 including myself) because they generally sucked to make. You had to get the jute / burlap, dye it in a bucket (multiple times because different colours), unthread it and fray the fabric manually then either sew/glue gun it onto BDUs or otherwise attach it to a Webtex concealment vest (I still love them for ghillie bases to this day).
    1 point
  28. Verily, you speak truth! As a certified sneaky bastard, my armband sometimes gives away my position, no matter how much I try to position myself so that it cannot be seen. I cannot see any reason why bush wookies should be able to sidestep that particular problem.

  29. i've played fields that have on occasion used a blank firing pistol as part of "find the macguffin" games, and in that context ie on a site that allows loud bangs, with everyone under no illusion that the game will end in a literal bang, i see no issue. however random players carrying them as a secondary? at best someone recognises it's a blank, and continues play accordingly at worst someone mistakes it for a real gun, and reacts accordingly in neither case can i see the use of a blank firing pistol in leui of an airsoft pistol has any utility to its user. as for cheating chrono? ban 'em, ban their mums, ban their hair, ban their pet chinchilla, ban their best freind's mate's plumbers aunt, ban their children and lay a curse upon their house unto the 9th generation. as for sites that have insufficient chrono/enforcement procedures? well i'd say play somewhere else but that's how i ended up leaving the sport when i ran out of sites.

  31. eh, i don't really see an issue with people wearing ghillies. end of the day if you don't know what you're at then draping yourself in mock hedgerow is going to offer the square total of bugger all assistance to your ability be concealed in the same way that owning a gucci set of screwdrivers doesn't make you a top tier airsoft tech. likewise someone who's gifted in the art of the sneak can become invisible almost entirely regardless of their choice of attire. this to me is separate from the other issue with ghillie wearers, to wit, the insistence of ankle armbands or other such lacking of identifiers. if the rest of us mere mortals are gonna have to wear a bright red armband to distinguish friend from foe then there should be no exceptions.

  32. As a relative noob to airsoft I know for sure I wouldn't want to play at any site where chrono isn't taken seriously. Especially HPA, which from the little I've read seems to have the most potential for fuckery. I don't think there's any reason to protect the site or players that are doing this, the rules are supposed to make the game as enjoyable and safe as possible for everyone. I can't lie I love the idea of milsim and defo want to experience that so to me the use of blanks/grenades seems super cool, but if it happened at a normal game day with no warning I'd be very confused and concerned. Having only played a few times so far, even grenades going off nearby shit me up something rotten

  33. People is dumb. When I used to do historic reenactment, I felt there was never enough done to check that nobody had brought a sharp weapon or tool from the living history side onto the battlefield, accidentally or otherwise. And as with the gun incident linked above, the problem is that you're trusting not just the nutter who brought it, but every other random nutter who might pick it up and not realise that it's "live" before cocking around with it (see the example of a paintball marshal getting his eye shot out by another marshal with a "cleared" marker). Shouldn't happen, does happen, will keep happening.

  34. So today I became the proud owner of a KAC PDW by Double Bell (like you couldn't guess from the title?) and after a quick half hour going over it here's my initial thoughts. The gun came in a plain cardboard box with just a label showing what model it is and was held securely in place with a couple of cable ties similar to how kids toys are secured in the box. Also included is a high cap mag and dummy PEQ box for the battery but no battery. I guess they've realised nobody uses the cheap crappy ones that come with the guns so they stopped bothering with them. The first thing that struck me is just how little flex and rattle there is. Seriously, I've seen guns that cost twice as much make more noise. While part if this is probably down to how short it is some of it is down to the polymer used which is definitely of higher quality than the plastic used in many other guns of a similar price range. The stock folds to the right hand side of the gun and is unfolded by pushing the button on the left hand side by the hinge. It then locks into place on a small nobbly bit on the body of the gun. I was concerned that this could be a potential failure point but only time will tell. The only markings on the reciever are the safe, semi and auto around the AR style fire selector. I guess Double Bell either knew people don't want their trademarks or decided it's cheaper and easier not to bother, probably the latter but either way I'm not fussed. Forward of the fire selector is the ambidextrous magazine release where I found another potential problem. The button sticks out further that the shroud around it possibly leading to accidentally dropped mags. The sights are made of the same polymer as the body of the gun and while the front post appears to be fixed, the rear is adjustable for windage but not elevation. Moving towards the muzzle there isn't space in the fore grip for a battery so this is where the included PEQ box comes into play, or at least it would if the thing wasn't so small. I don't think I've seen a battery small enough to fit in there. The PEQ box disassembled with a lighter for scale. I don't think it'll fit anything bigger than a mobile phone battery. Fortunately I've got a couple of other guns with battery boxes so I borrowed one of those. First I tried an 11.1v lipo and was getting over spin every shot with it firing 2 shots on semi auto so I switched over to a 7.4v lipo. This solved the issue. The trigger felt like any other aeg but definitely felt more responsive and with a shorter pull than my galaxy MP5K using the same battery. Unfortunately I don't have a chrono or enough space to set the hop properly so I'll have to post on the performance at another time. The included magazine is a 180 round (according to google) high cap copy of the 6x35mm magazine but normal M4 magazines will also fit. One thing I did notice was that Double Bell have moved the winding wheel from the bottom to the rear of the mag Overall for first impressions I score this gun a solid 7.5 out of ten with points knocked off for the useless PEQ box and the other potential problems mentioned, but if these turn out to be unfounded I'll happily bump that score up. Now to get that gopping 2 tone paint off before my next game

  35. Re the zip ties, no matter how someone tries to dress it up it's avoiding the chrono and therefore cheating. If you've passed on your feelings to site management and they've ignored you or fobbed you off then definitely name and shame them. Not doing so gives them a free pass to carry on and its human nature that if a person gets away with something once they're far more likely to do it again. As for the blank firing pistol, it does look a bit silly to me but I'd have no problem with it if used sensibly. Afterall many of us use BFGs and disposable pyros which have just as much potential to cause harm

  36. 1. I get bringing blank firers to special events where it makes sense. I think Milsim West do it well and it can really add to the immersion of those events, but as long as it's clearly advertised that blank firers will be in use, so hearing protection is advised. Someone brought a blank firing pistol to a Vietnam game I was at and it was well used. However, bringing one to a skirmish is dumb as skirmish is meant to be for everyone, from your meal team six milsim operator to your speedyboi with a HPA AAP-01 to your 14 year old rental kid. 2. This is just flat out cheating and these players should be kicked off site, even if their guns are indeed under. I don't like chrono and when I started nobody chronoed and everyone was fine, but with heavier BBs around, as well as the hobby being far more mainstream than back then (still niche, but today's turnouts are way higher than the mid 2000s), you need to have chrono because, unfortunately, not everyone can be trusted. I know that my guns are under as I tinker with all my stuff and own a chrono to test for power, but I still go through chrono and have no issues doing so. With gas guns, going through chrono helps me make those fine tuning adjustments as sometimes if it's warm, the NPAS in my MWS needs turning down or the bolt in my m700/m40s needs turning down. I would talk to the marshalls about both, and if they didn't do anything about it I'd probably find a new site. The blank firer is less an issue for me as I have hearing protection and can bring it no problem, but people skipping chrono is a big no-no for me as I don't want someone to bring a hot gun and take out my teeth or my eyepro because they're splooging full auto at 1.5J at point blank range, or they're doing their best Kicking Mustang impression and running a bolt action at 3J and also have no concept of MED (the latter part of that is pretty common...)

  39. This has pretty much become my go to nowadays. Thought I keeping swapping between the SPUD and a tall KYWI on the left hand side. I think the KYWI is winning that battle as it stands.

  40. Battle Stations this sunday in Snetterton close to Norwich. First time trying a Chest rig instead of battle belt, quite liked it. And i am never playing without prescription insert again for the safety glasses. Cracking field by the way and good marshall team.

    Gun picture thread

Seriously tempted to paint the handguard and stock on my two retro builds (TM M733 and neo-retro-ish MWS)

  43. Pretty happy with this setup, has been several years in the making and refinement. TM MWS, a few minor changes to make it ambi and loft 0.32g BBs. TacBelts paracord ends for the Slingster keep it quiet and the Brownells forend keeps it old school. Waiting on a carry handle as they are like Unity Mounts but prettier. Spiritus Mk5 for 3 rifle mags and a pistol speed loader in a Esstac Kywi (kydex trimmed to allow the feeder lips to protrude…Matron!) I can top off 3 mags from this to save carrying extra weight. IFAK with actual kit I or others might need (make use of my FREC3 qualification somehow) FRV belt (back before they stopped actually supplying customers) with USP holster and TM USP, Direct Action dump pouch holding an M4 kywi for slick reloads and an added elastic leg strap a la TrexArms. Kydex Kustoms holder for the AlphaTex BFG. This set up is plenty for the usual skirmish and if I am really lazy I can run just the chest rig and Mk5 pyro on the elastic strap on the side. The coyote brown goes with most things, even the slightly faded SADF M83, and either civvy or Ranger Green gear.

    Lambda/DCA GPMG

Yes the price is a bit high. And yes for DCA isn't anything new. But these will be full steel! And alot of R&D has gone into these to be right to the British version, and not just another M240. And also about price, my inokatsu full steel was £1500 and that was 10 years ago! I then built a full steel L7A2 gpmg from scratch! And I can tell you it cost me alot more than £2k.... As for lambda, they are a mixed bag. Some people Rate them, some don't. But honestly I can say the same for most brands. I've had 6 Ares Sa80s, and 2 have been a constant issue, yet the rest have been absolutely fine. And as for internals, I haven't run a support gun yet where I haven't had to pull apart the internals or fiddle with the box mag to run right.
