  1. So, been doing this airsoft malarkey for 18 months or so an i'd like to thank each person on this forum for help given a long the way. So, like a noob, I bought a boneyard mb03 sniper rifle when first starting out. Cos, you know, we all do it, snipers are cool and all that. ? Could never get it above 280fps on a .28. not great, so I gave up and carried on with the honey badger, the kids bought all sorts and I've got quite good at fixing stuff ... The poor mb sat on the wall, sulking. At a loose end yesterday and thought I'd have another play. Turns out you need the correct hop rubber and a cylinder head that actually goes into said hop rubber...????? 450fps. Happy days. ?

  2. It doesn't help when sites llike Phoenix cater for twats like licking shitstains by setting up games specifically for them to generate bullshit content. For me this straight away puts them on the avoid list @THE CHIEF whilst I agree that more variety of rifs would be nice, I think alot of it is down to consumer demand. I thought I recognised the patch from there. I can't say the mask rings any bells, but it was nearly 20 years ago and sometimes I struggle to remember what I did last week. I haven't been back since I last played there but tbh I'm not surprised it's changed so much. At least its been preserved though, rather than cleared for housing Firing as you approach and go round a corner so if there is someone there you're already putting shots out rather than having to react. To me it's a twatish move which involves zero skill

Hence the italics ? I was beginning to wonder if ukapu was actually any use, and to be honest the replies in this thread are not instilling confidence.

  4. What’s not helping are the amount of YT videos out there that give the wrong impression of what we do - it’s not kills every few seconds, everyone’s not a cheater and pews aren’t laser accurate. Spoke to a guy last night and his only impression of Airsoft was from stumbling across YT videos and the above is exactly what he thought we did. Of course I set him straight, but that’s what we’re up against when trying to attract new people into the sport. I don’t think interest in general is waning, it’s not the kind of activity that shouts about itself, so it’s pretty hard to gauge anyway. I’d say that growth is organic though with players inviting others along and getting them hooked.

  5. Ooooh. Aug goodness. ? I bought a boneyard TM one. For the paltry sum of £90. It wasn't well. @Iceni pointed me in the correct direction and after managing to lunch a spur gear (yup, tm cheesium gears) with the addition of a high torque motor, I rebuilt the box, painted it the correct RAL colour (aka "mud"- seriously, that's the Oem name for it!!) And I LOVE IT. I apparently have an oddball one, as mines all silencered up but may be a tm/snow wolf swinging session outcome. 490mm tb barrel, m105, hi torque, metal gears ?, new Oem hop with a maple and I can chuck 0.28's at people all day.

  12. As I've been visiting different sites and doing mid week games I've been to a few different cqb sites end one thing I have noticed is that many look like they're starting to crack down on some aspects of speedsoft, such as prefiring and spamming the trigger. Did you guys play at Fort Amhurst donkeys years ago?

None of which has anything to do with either the problem the OP has or motor speed, as you incorrectly claimed Seconded.

Really? I never knew that, he wrote ironically. Did you not read my statement "...assuming that the spring strength remains constant."? Did you not realise that my comment was made in the context of this thread in order to demonstrate that, except where there is premature engagement, motor speed does not affect the power output? Look, I get that you are an utter twat; why don't you do this forum a favour and fuck off to reddit or FB, where your inaccurate teching advice would fit in really well?

    Bunny Workshop - avoid

Bunny Workshop - one to avoid! A couple of years ago I placed an order with them which they only had half of the items I wanted, even though they said they had stock, so I avoided them for a while. However I recently placed an order again giving them a second chance as they also had a slide I wanted that was not available elsewhere. It took them a week before they shipped the order at which time they told me 2 items where not in stock. Still they sent the rest of the order after they refunded those items (Many HK stores are guilty of this). A couple of weeks later I received the order and to my disappointment they had substituted 2 other items in my order. A blowback unit (ordered one for a G18C and got one for a G17 RMR, so not compatible) and the most impotant and expensive item in the order , the slide. I contacted them about this (their communication is slow). After a while they have offered to half fix the slide issue by sending a different barrel but no offer to rectify the BBU issue. I had not properly opened the slide in anticipation of returning it but I have opened it to find it is used. There are many marks and nicks over the slide that have been covered by a black marker pen and the are where lines on the included BBU where it has been previously installed. I am still waiting to here back from them on this but I could no longer keep quite about the appalling service from them. Avoid at all costs. James

  17. Cool story bro. Did you actually read what I posted? It was broken. Particularly the post first game use report - where the gun ran so hot it became unusable, the weird velocity issues and the trigger switch that was in self-destruct mode - all of which I have fixed. One look on the KWA Owners group will show that the stock piston is one of the most common points of failure and the first thing replaced - sometimes within a couple hours of use. Then there's the massive tappet-timing issue that will cut the power output in half as the nozzle and tappet wears. I'm glad yours is working fine. There have been plenty that haven't - right out of the box. I stand by what I've said - not recommended. At all.

It would be timely if it was, however please be assured that it was purely coincidental. Standing down has been something that has been on my mind for the past year or so, I just never decided to actually do it up until about 4 weeks ago. I wish I had done it sooner, judging by some of the interesting comments in this thread! The minutes are for me to type up they'll be ready by tomorrow I think - never fun doing a committee meeting followed up by a day's skirmishing. Anyhow an update will be provided by a member of the team in this very thread along with other media streams in due course (as in, very shortly!) - I can't say too much about that now as I'm no longer the chairman! ? No, the wholly unprofessional response reference was due to me highlighting the fact that the resignation was brought on with regards to personal health reasons, partly brought on by the whole airsoft thing shutting down thing during the pandemic. If you chose to interpret that in a different manner, then that is understandable. This will be the last time I reply to this topic as personally I'm baffled as to why there's such discontent about what is strictly an internal meeting, discussing things that are internal and sensitive in nature. It is something that the committee is entitled to do, and in some instances, is required to do.

I appreciate it's voluntary, but professionalism seemed the right word. There's a certain level of competence and good judgement required (or at least expected) of committee members... and perma-silence is neither good judgement, nor even remotely polite behaviour ?

The cynical part of me suspects that this is a "the people that have been giving us money actually want us to do something" kinda meeting. But then again 23yrs as an engineer have left me with an overwhelmingly cynical and pessimistic world view.

As much as I was hell-bent on hating the P-mags I can't help but feel that these kind of look fucking cool and I don't hate them, as cheesy as the mock bullet window is. They fit and feed flawlessly which is the more important thing obviously. We'll see if they'll hold up any well on Sunday's game!

    Recommend me a 1911

Personally, I've found a Carrera 2S is all you need and generates so much grip you really don't need the 4S. Although the 4S is very popular as it's got the same wide-body as the turbo (minus the air intakes on the rear arches) and the continuous light-strip for easy identification. oh, it says 1911 not 911 ... as you were ?

  41. Err... "brand new Ares AEG L85A2". Listed "as new", but the title is unambiguous, and he's comparing it against new, retail prices. I wouldn't call this bloke a scammer, just a brass necked chancer operating effectively as a trader, without any warranty. It's all consensual, but a lot of grubby interpersonal transactions are.

    Opinions on UKAPU

It's taken me a while to decide whether to reply to this, and if so, what I should say. As Shamal has rightly stated, I am the East of England UKAPU representative. I initially joined as a member, but decided that I would like to further support the community as a regional representative. During my interview for the position I too expressed reservations with regard to what the union provide - as others have pointed out, the social media pages are not frequently updated and there is little 'evidence'. All representatives are volunteers, and in any case, I believe that the Press Officer position is vacant. There is often assistance offered to player-members which unfortunately goes unreported due to this. This has involved helping with customs and import of RIFs, where players experienced issues - and similarly assisted players in Northern Ireland where I believe there have been further issues with customs. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Union were approached by a number of game organisers/site owners to gauge the legality of running games during the lift of restriction levels. The Union provided this guidance, but it was highlighted that if Airsoft was registered as a sport (like paintball is), then we potentially could have returned sooner. However, in order to register as a sport we would require a national governing body. The membership was 'sold' to me as more of an insurance scheme; in case I should ever need assistance, but also to support the ongoing efforts of the Union to provide some kind of national governing body - which was well supported by representatives, members, non-members and site owners when discussed with them. Whilst it was before my time, I believe the references to 'proposed bans' etc relate to the VCRA 2007 bill. @Cannonfodder if you would like I will try to find more information relating to this. Unfortunately, our Chairman has suffered from issues with his personal circumstances lately, and this has led to our AGM not happening as early in the year as perhaps would be expected. Rest assured, I am actively pursuing this and hope it will be able to go ahead soon. With this in mind, I cannot comment on the plans going forward for the annual members skirmish or attendance at NAE. In the past I have attempted to arrange a members only game, but then struggled to find a site to host it at. It is on my list of things to arrange, and as soon as I have news I will share it. I do recognise that perhaps the communications from the Union have not been as good as would be expected, and for that please accept my apology. @Rogerborg - are you referring to the Operation Stigma II post on Facebook from May 2022 as this is all I can find? @RebelScum if you would like, please send me a message and I will do my best to chase up your patch - as it is of course not right that you have yet to receive it. Finally, I would like to address suggestions that members of the Union are in it to 'make a name' for themselves, or as an 'ego boost'. I appreciate this is personal opinion, but when engaging with other representatives I have not experienced this. I see the other representatives as individuals with only the interests of the players and the sport at heart. My inbox is always open, and I am always more than happy to engage with any player, whether they are a member or not. I've done my best to address what people have said, and am happy to discuss anything. - Jacob
