  5. @MAX DICKER And that's why I run paintball goggles pretty much exclusively for Airsoft these days, especially CQB. Played at Portsmouth's Bunker on Sunday (I'm assuming yours is the Welsh one) for the first time and my god, those nutters (read: regulars) were running super heavy BB's , the chrono marshall was saying that some were running .36s to .40s. In an underground CQB bunker with around 15-20ft of visibility after a few Pyros went off - I experienced some of the most painful hits I've had playing in 16-17 years. Also had some similar issues to you - trading with players a 5ft range and them refusing to take the hit, being accused of cheating, despite a Marshall watching me, and only me, during the entire game whilst I was holding a key bottleneck on the field (he told the accusing player to basically fuck off - top bloke IMO). Both sides whinging about hit taking in the safe zone yadda yadda yadda.... But to be fair, the Marshalls were pretty spot-on dealing with the problems throughout and that's why I would play there again - just with a tracer unit and the heaviest tracer BB's I can lay my hands on next time.

True, but the ridges around the rubber are designed to combat that very issue. The C-Clip is a crap design though, some sniper rifle hops already have grub screws for centring the barrel so yes it could work but you are introducing an additional point of endless fiddling to get things lined up properly. If the hop unit is made well then a tapered collet would probably work (you can get 3D printed ones for the Maxx hop units which would probably work for other hops too). I have one of these in one of my Maxx units and it seems to hold everything properly steady (although it can be a bit of a pig to get in properly depending on your inner barrel sizes) https://www.airtechstudios.com/products/maxx-advanced-hop-up-chamber-inner-barrel-ring

i'd assume the selector plate teeth aren't lined up quite right, very common issue thanks to the rube-golberg setup the v3 box has for a fire selector. one thing i find helps is to insert the gearbox with the reciever lying flat on the left side, let gravity hold the components in place whilst your sliding it into position.

  8. Just ordered a 30m Reel of AlphaWire Eco 16AWG hookup wire in a rather fetching shade of white just to be different. Should be enough to re-wire a couple dozen guns in the future. I've found the stuff very easy to use on various AEG wiring jobs in the past.

  14. Along with the potential for breaking, propane (green gas, power gas etc.) has less compressibility than 134/144 gas. Meaning that you can't fill as much volume in the mag. Not sure how much this translates to number of shots fired but the difference is tangible in my experience. If you really do want to use stronger gasses what I do is mix them. Fill about 70% with 144a and "top it off" with green gas. You get the benefit of FPS and kick from heavier gasses and 144's compressibility for volume. That being said I only use power gases on metal guns

most motors tend to come with pinions, and the majority of the time folk tend not to care too much about having the exact right pinion matching the exact right gears. easiest way if you care for such things would be to try and match motor+gearing brand. i'm a big fan of the maple leaf macaron+omega nub combo, ran it in many pews with excellent results. tan is fine for general use or green if you're the kind of lunatic who needs to be able to lift 0.48g at 1j...... iirc some specna units have the nub built into the arm? i'll let owners confirm that though. bushings versus bearings, eh, i've never really paid much mind. bushings are going to be able to take more punishment and won't fail catastrophically like a ball bearing can, but bearings can be better for speed. some folk even mix and match with bushings on the sector then bearings on the idler/bevel gear. shimming would be worth doing only if you feel like you can do it well, otherwise leaving it stock will be a relatively safe option. gotta keep good track of em though, nothing likes going walkies like a shim...... the combat union design is pretty slick, it has a steel clip that slides in as normal (no actual tension just a neat fit) then a grub screw to lock the clip in place and a collet that screws in and locks the barrel absolutely rock solid. that said, lot more space in an ak reciever to have a chunky unit with all that stuff on it, wouldn't be to easy to pull off in an m4.

It is indeed a problem. The wall thickness of a Macaron edges on the thinner side as well so there's even more scope for the bugger to move around. I wonder if if could use 3 small grub screws? Think it would work?

    RIFs on a Plane

Just as a side note, to put a dampner on things - anyone planing on going this side of the year book refundable/transferable tickets. The current feeing is they will open without restriction late 2022 but not before the august election. Also, some shops aren't too friendly to foreigners buying rifs, but are ok with parts and accessories. Echigoya and First were friendly. As others have said, it will be down to the airline, and some like to charge a not insignificant amount pending on what they class it as. Lufthansa currently charge 250 euro each way plus a security fee if they class it as a fire arm. Cathy pacific are the only ones I've seen that list it as a toy and just a security check, probably due to the popularity of airsoft in HK edit: after some searching JAL are ok charge £70 for a processing fee. So get a couple of rifs are you're back in profit

I can see why they'd think that, given that there's clearly no interest from the State in clamping down on the rogues. The problem with that is that eventually some muckraker with an audience will do a "think of the children!" hit piece on our assault-toys.

Thank you Captain Obvious, who's your trusty sidekick.... Hindsight-Boy? 😏 In all seriousness, I was aware of the proprietary nature of KWA before purchase. But it was the first gun in ages (read:years) that I truly wanted to buy as soon as I set eyes on it. So much so I ordered it the day it was released in the UK. Was it my most sensible purchase? - no. But I don't regret it really now. I know with a few internal tweaks there's a lovely gun to be had there. I've had far worse guns for the money that I paid for this (£244) and nothing comes close to the external build quality at this price point. There's nothing wrong with the internals either (it's built like a tank) apart from the abysmal amp-hungry stock motor.

    MW2 2022

I never played MW2 that much back in the day because it used matchmaking instead of people having privately owned dedicated servers that you browsed in a server browser like CoD4 had (this is all on PC, never been much of a console pleb). I saw matchmaking as a cancer in online gaming that eroded any sense of community and I still do; privately owned dedicated servers were the way to go and you would always go back to the same ones, so you'd know all the regulars and there was generally just an amazing sense of community, but matchmaking is just a cheap one and done. As such, I won't be getting it. I didn't even get CoD4 remastered (where I preferred both the single and multiplayer), because if I wanted to play it I'd just play the original, but where most people view MW2 with rose-tinted nostalgia goggles, I actually view it as the beginning of the end of good online PC gaming, because after MW2 it felt like every PC game decided to go with matchmaking instead and yes, I'm salty about that. Oh, also Activision-Blizzard are scum. Not giving them any money.

    THE TM MWS thread

Well after a long sabbatical from the sport I am now back and I finally got round to finishing of the Taran Tactical TR1 John Wick. It uses the Angry Gun TTI TR1 John Wick kit. Before a few of you tell me about the evil of Angry Gun parts, all the internals are all MWS apart from a tan bucking and a longer 6.05 inner barrel. Also I didn't pay the absurdly expensive price of £900 or whatever it was. I got it off a former member on here that bought it just to get an upper he had broken. I got eh whole thing including a near full MWS for a bargain price. Regarding the quality of the kit, I did have to do a little bit of light engineering to get the trigger mechanism to fit in the lower but everything else in the kit fitted quite nicely. I also fitted a new BCG with a built in NPAS ( I can't remember the name as I bought it over 2 years ago and never fitted it. I gave it a test fire and with the NPAS wound all the way in (max power) this thing is bloody powerful. I will run it through the Chrono tomorrow to see what it is coming out as then adjust accordingly. The second photo also shows my original Block 1 MWS for size comparison which is totally standard and totally bullet proof!

    The VCRA is a joke

You aren’t being an old granny The toy industry isn’t taking the piss, I would hazard a guess that this is some basic cheap shop pushing cheap and nasty imports, or a basic convenience shop with their cheap and nasty corner. Trading Standards ought to be interested, as I dare say these water guns aren’t CE certified(or whatever we are supposed to be adopting now post Brexit), which for a water gun will be minor and might not be TS top priority, but it’s bound to have other non compliant cheap crap. (Not to forget the unlimited fine a retailer could face for a non VCRA compliant RIF sale) The orange tip makes it obvious that these are not made for the UK market. UK airsoft retailers aren’t always taking the VCRA seriously themselves - otherwise you wouldn’t have retailers pushing JustCos or trying to get buyers to claim they are reenactment military vehicle owners Some see it the VCRA as a nuisance that loses themselves sales against others who turn a blind eye rather than protection from the offence they could commit

  27. Always use buyer protection. Paypal doesn't care about what it is as long as it is a legit purchase and not illegal. I've had to claim twice. Once as the seller and once as the buyer for a RIF and both times it was clear what the sale was regarding and they sided with me because one was fraud and the other was a dick who didn't understand that second hand airsoft guns can go wrong and that no warranty is provided. Airsoft rifs are fully legal in the UK and as such you really should have no issue with paypal siding on the side of right or wrong in a transaction.

Yep, whats worse is that twiddling the barrel doesnt strictly move the hop bucking at the same rate as the barrel (cos it can stretch), ends up not quite centred over the barrel window even if its centred to the hop. Maddening! This is one of the things that differentiates a good hop unit from a bad hop unit, the centering of the window over the barrel, being a good fit for seal but not too tight, the c clip holding the barrel even closer to square. Only hop unit i've met that does this perfectly is the combat union ak unit, but then that thing is ridiculously overbuilt with the pricetag to match..... Usually they tend to stay in position relatively well, outside of installing the hop/barrel unit into the reciever theres not much load on the barrel aside from being pushed straight forwards.

It's amazing how many guides and techs don't mention this. The c-clip on the hop unit only holds the barrel in approximately the correct orientation and I've become mildly obsessed with making tiny rotations to get the mound centred. Hop off, rotate the barrel a smidge, hop to full, eyeball, and repeat until your OCD is satiated.

  31. I was going to sell my AAP-01 at an airsoft car boot that Worthing did, but nobody wanted to buy my stuff (all custom builds, all more pricey than the stock stuff others were selling) and then my friend told me about some ruger outer barrels and I wondered at the possibility of building it to be another sidearm I can use for Namsoft. Still waiting on the grips to arrive from HK, but the outer barrel arrived and I love it. Well, apart from the fact it's a different colour black to the rest Will get a metal upper receiver for it too as it feels weird having a heavy barrel and a light frame, and I'll get a longer inner barrel that reaches a bit further down this one as it's longer than the original.

  32. With airsoft very few manufacturer offer consistent quality control. For everyone that has nothing but praise for a brand/gun there are an equal number of people that will never touch that same brand/gun again. Buy the gun that ticks the boxes for you, look after it but expect it will break and if its after the first time you use it, the warranty means nothing. Airsoft is not a cheap hobby. After you get your first gun plan to get your next back up gun.

    DE M66 Pro 700

Gun Name and maker: Double Eagle M66 Pro 700 FPS: 499 on 0.2g Hop up: Rotary with positive click Mag Capacity: 50 Battery: N/A Plastic/Metal/Both: Both My opinion and overall comments: I bought one of these having seen it and read the initial reviews where it was being touted as a field able out the box jobby. Ergonomically, it's quite pleasing and a little different to the other popular sniper platforms and out the box the performance is pretty spectacular for the price point, but, it's as heavy as a freight train and you'll need either a sling or arms like Garth to carry it about all day. It will lift heavy weight bbs out the box but the joule creep is one to watch, on 0.4g I initially hit 2.46j and this is where the downsides start. Leave it cocked in the bag for a week and it dropped to 2.38j on the 0.4g but went no further for leaving it another week. On testing at a range, it will lob shots out to about 80m, but not in a flat trajectory and I was unable to get it even remotely flat with the hop rotary clicks effort. Anywhere past 50m though and the shots are scattered around like a mad dogs crap and the consistency was just not there at all. Out of 5 shots, 1 went remotely straight. Clean the barrel out with some alcohol and have another go, this time it's better, but still not great. So, change the hop rubber, it will take a VSR rubber so I plumped for a Decepticon 70 degree and had another go. Now the joules are down to a solid and consistent 2.0j on 0.4g, and the shot consistency is way better, but I'm getting outraged by blokes with average AEGs. Biggest downside is, its based on the TM M40, but only based, not fully compatible. The cylinder and piston are an odd size and effectively the only bits you'll be able to upgrade easily is the hop rubber, nub and spring. Overall, looks good, shoots okay after a new hop rubber but no range, not cheap and no upgrade parts available. Probably best to avoid for now. Overall rating: 5/10

I wonder what sort of cylinder that ships with as stock 🤔 And like others have said maybe going to a 509mm would be a easier? (and if you've got mega buck you could go with a PDI one, and get the benefit of a Maple Leaf MR bucking fitting nicely in the cut out).

  39. Just Chiming in regarding trades that do not involve a face-to-face I'll preface this with indeed your mileage still may vary, and its up to you to seal the deal and go with your gut instinct. I've done about 4 Trades over the post now of relatively high value RIF's All of them have been trouble free And following these steps has helped me, if these Criteria weren't met then it was Generally a Red Flag. 1. They have a decent seller history/activity on AFUK or another long standing Airsoft Selling Platform 2. They agree to send you a picture of their Photo ID (Drivers License) with a timestamp (a note with the date and name written on it next to the ID) allthewhile, reciprocating with yours, Bonus for UKARA. (if you REALLY wanna be thorough, a picture of their ID, next to a Recent Utility Bill AND timestamp) 3. Then, checking postage address of the trade (including yours) directly matches the address of the ID 4.(Optional) one of the parties offers a collateral payment (the value of the traded item) which can be claimed if it goes pear shaped You handle postage for your way. additionally, as another user mentioned, proof of postage isn't really of any substance, but opening the parcel as soon as its been delivered on video will be. (also get the trader to send images of the item as they pack it as a reference image) Yes it may come off as a bit thorough, but the trouble of losing an entire RIF with nothing to show for it far outweighs any effort in the preliminary. And LASTLY Again, if the person you are trading with is apprehensive to send ANY of these details, then just dont trade.

  40. Ok I'm at my wits end after lots of trial and error I have worked out that my warhead base 27k motor is the cause of all my pain. When I install the warhead motor in my gun the fps is all over the place with lows of 280 and highs of 330 on .25 but when I put my old ifrit motor in my fps is stable and with 5fps. I am using 13:1 gears no short stroking with a titan advanced mofset on an 11.1v 30c battery. I'm at the point now that if I can't get this working I will just sell it

  41. Went to The Bunker CQB last night for a bit of pew on my way home from work. The first two TDM games were great, then there were a few 'get the bomb in the Land Rover' games, where after each game, a different 5 players were selected to defend the Landy. All great fun so far. Now, The Bunker is definitely the smallest site I've ever played. Which suits me fine as I love CQB. However, as I found last night, as soon as issues arise with people nor taking hits, or being perceived to not take their hits, then the mood of the whole place goes south way faster than at a bigger site. I personally experienced 2 instances of a guy not taking his hits from me (I was using a tracer, he was 6 feet from me and I had him illuminated with 1500 lumens). I notified the marshal and went to cool off (this was after a couple of other incidents where I was pretty sure I hit someone who wouldn't take their hits but wasn't 100% positive). In the SZ, a couple of other people were there also complaining about the same thing. Between games, the marshal came to me to say he'd had words with a couple of players including the one who I mentioned. The next game started OK, I managed to push to a little corner. I saw some enemy tracer fire go past my POV so I popped put of the corner and shot the guy whilst he was still firing. In fairness, his reaction before I shot him was quick but the shot that he reflexively fired didn't get me. He called his hit, then added in a shitty tone "and so are you". I concede that there is a possibility that a trade took place but I didn't feel anything (tshirt, jeans, no chest rig, range was 2'). Maybe he hit my gun but gun hits don't count. Anyway, it occurred to me that it'd gotten to to point where people would assume that you were cheating and I was no longer enjoying the play. Shame really as its a great site and I'm definitely going back. Also, got shot a beaut right on the nose
