So I went to the supermarket this morning on my bike and bought a bottle of whiskey. On my way home, it started raining heavily and I thought, if I fell off my bike I might smash the bottle, so I decided to drink it all. It was a good decision. I fell off my bike 5 times before I got home.🚴 Regards4 points -
My pet hate is when something is posted for sale and at the end of description the seller says 'does not include.....' If something is not included then don't put if on the pistol, rifle or whatever it is. Take pictures of what you are actually selling.👍 Regards4 points

if your first thoughts on playing with a semi-only rule is to ask "how do i bypass this as much as possible" then i fear you may have picked up the wrong impression of the hobby. whilst there isn't anything intrinsically wrong with hpa'd pistols, there is a certain subset of players (like, by the sounds of it, the one you met) who use those capabilities to excess, and a lot of folks ain't so keen on that, after all it's why auto is banned for most cqb sites in the first place. some compassion for the folk you're shooting at goes a long way.4 points -

I've definitely noticed an increase in nobheads lately (more so than usual, let's face it this happens every year). That said I don't know of any platform that doesn't include someone that thinks because they've "barely used it" then it's worth 90% of purchase price. It's usually because they need the money and want to try and recoup their costs without actually thinking about it. I don't think there's all that many that deliberately inflate the price to try and rip people off here though, they're usually just misinformed or have an over inflated idea of what things are actually worth once you break that factory cellophane!3 points

The more you buy and sell, the more you notice. It's prevalent in any second hand selling of any kind unless there are contracts in place (Ebay.... And even then!). It is especially prevalent in non essential hobby classifieds (If I may be stereotypical here). Airsoft, Guitars, RC Cars, Gaming. Full of flakes and dreamers who either don't have the money, patience and/or people skills. It's one of the reasons that I have to take a big deep breath before I put anything up for sale and have to be in the mood to deal with the above. Also one of the reasons why I almost never buy second hand stuff myself, I find it difficult to trust peoples descriptions.3 points

Blind Firing.
Pappa Large and 2 others reacted to Asomodai for a topic
I had an argument with someone about this a year ago at Mayhem. I was being shot at by someone who had a rifle above their head over a bush, but their head was behind the bush. They claimed they could see through the bush. I complained to the marshal who agreed it should be aimed down the sights of the rifle. But another marshal said the opposite and neither wanted to mediate and get involved. The guy who shot me decided that because safety brief didn't specifically explain this circumstance to anyone. He could see me, so it must be fine. So in the end it it meant I have a very small chance of hitting them through the bush and they gained an unfair advantage. The site you played at may have stopped hip firing, trying to solve the same issue I had. The average Airsofter can be pretty stupid and it's best to have a simple single rule, then attempt to explain what I experienced above. Some rules that sound overbearing to us, are in response to Airsofters that have pushed the boundaries (And the spirit) of the more lax rules that existed before. Not because marshal's are trying to be arses. Hip firing I have no problem with.3 points -

the version i always interpreted it as was you had to see what you were shooting at. the whole premise being that holding a gun round a corner and firing without looking to see if perhaps someone happened to be right on the other side of the cover. so i wouldn't consider hip firing, or any of the tacticool holding the gun sideways shenanigans as blind firing if the person doing the shooting has clear sight between his gun and the target. it does raise the question on wether or not the use of mirrors/fancy optics (ie corner-shot style equipment) counts, which boils down to wether the primary purpose of the rule is safety (as above) or enforced fairness in terms of letting the target have part of you to shoot at.3 points -
Pistol with binary trigger
Tactical Pith Helmet and 2 others reacted to Tommikka for a topic
I would say that either: 1) They used a mode against the rules 2) They are fast on the trigger Bounce, multiple modes etc are/were prevalent in paintball True ‘bounce’ is the physical or electronic double firing per trigger pull: For example recoil, a worn sear or badly adjusted trigger/bolt system cause an occasional second shot With micro switches etc a circuit could still have low power come through and be misinterpreted as another pull Therefore you get a ‘debounce’ setting to fine tune how sensitive the circuit is for the next shot When you restrict full auto, burst etc and the rate of fire of an electronically controlled trigger then when players are up against a semi auto mode or mechanical trigger then a player can pull their trigger as quickly as they like, and provided the bolt etc and next round is ready then a human being can pull the trigger more quickly than a restricted electronic mode In my opinion binary triggers and bounce modes are worse than full auto or burst modes In semi I have to keep pulling the trigger and everything stops when I stop Even in an ‘assisted’ semi (ramping in paintball) I would need to achieve a physical rate of trigger pull, then as long as I keep pulling the trigger then a mode kicks in and fires at a preset maximum rate of fire In burst then for example a burst if 3 shots are fired when the trigger is pulled In full auto a constant rate of fire continues until the trigger is released With a binary trigger you have lost control of your shooting: Pull - it shoots Release - it shoots again I could fire one shot, then see something that makes me stop. I cannot release my finger without firing another shot3 points -

No-full-auto-in-buildings-bro. That's a wanker gun, used by wankers. Unless you're playing speedsoft at a site full of similar overshooting spam-gibbons, please don't try to emulate it. My local CQB site runs a 3-shot-then-pause rule, which they actually monitor and crack down on. There's no need to be sending solid streams of BBs in CQB. I mention that rule actually being enforced because airsoft is rife with things which are "banned" but still happen regularly. For all you know, that bloke's ripping off full auto bursts and nobody is pulling him up on it.3 points -

Immersion. That was a big pitch as to why we were allowed to keep realistic looking guns and not all go two tone only. So using a technologies that start to erode that principle may be problem if we go through a similar process in the future. Personal preference is not to exceed 15-20 RPS for basic “infantry” type stuff, perhaps more for squad automatic/support. But it’s not necessary, I’ve pinned down plenty of players with M60/M249/RPK/LSW’s running at stock performance. I seem too recall three support gunners holding hamburger hill at Combat South against all the other players…2 points -
The built-in system is quite good. You can set the advert to 'Pending' to let people know and stops them making offers but you can turn it back again if it falls through. When I want to sell something I'll start with the highest price I think is reasonable given the rarity, scarcity, condition, performance etc to see if someone is keen enough to buy at that price. If it doesn't sell I'll lower the price after some time depending how fast I need to shift it. If it still doesn't sell at the lower price then I'll keep it 😁2 points

I got screamed at by a marshal for having the butt of the stock too low in my shoulder at one site. I was lobbing BBs in at the edge of my range. Not worth arguing with that level of daftness.2 points -
This. Though admittedly it's hard to price some things up. Case in point my practically "unused" set of 6 G&P Mid cap G36 mags, never used in a skirmish, no scratches, dents or otherwise. Considered the best traditional G36 style mag out there. Cost £17 per mag from any shop that has them in stock right now... Issue? I coupled them all together for storage, and of course like all G36 mags, the couplers break when separated. It immediately falls in value despite never been used in a skirmish. So have now priced them at essentially less then a tenner each. It's hard for me to go any lower then that, but I can see why someone would ask for higher because of how all the G36 couplers will fail in short order anyway... The fact it happened before being sold is just a harsh reality! I would like to think I price my stuff quite nicely though. And my stuff generally does sell. But it gets harder when it comes to the even more niche stuff, you have to wait for the right buyer (specialist in odd things) to come along who knows it's a good deal. But to the average M4 multiglammer it means nothing.2 points

Don’t mind him, like everyone who got “questioned” before the Nuremberg trials, he got his balls crushed so hard by the Soviets who were running the show, that by the time he got to the room, he was singing about everything they did during the war. Nevertheless, I agree with you all. “Just doing my job” is not enough. Not for the public service sector. These guys are employed for the benefit of the public, not the public servants themselves, however the reality these days is starkly different.2 points -
This is a question that comes up regularly, but doesn’t get completed The poster on the recent thread below says they will update us as it progresses Legally you can import RIFs into the UK for the purpose of Airsoft skirmishing at insured sites. By law you do not require UKARA membership - that is the best known scheme to document proof that a player is a skirmisher If you are already a player overseas and intend to play at insured sites here then you are legal - but might not be able to prove it Look at the other thread, think of ways that you can prove you are a skirmished, contact Border Force etc, and let us know how you get on If you’re not confident that you can prove it to Border Force then look for other options such as making arrangements with an Airsoft site, shop, an established player (that knows you) or wait until you are here and have played to attain UKARA then have them sent to you2 points

Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Cr0-Magnon for a topic
Going back six years or so when I started playing, "Blind Firing" was described as only presenting the weapon. Most typically around a door or over a wall. Rules against this make sense, it's both potentially dangerous and unfair. However the last few sites I've visited, have stated it's when you fire without looking down your sights (e.g. hip firing). This doesn't make sense to me, I mean you wouldn't shoulder a mini gun. One player was chastised for rotating his gun on his shoulder while he angled around a corner, even though in this scenario they were both shouldering it and looking down the iron sights. What say you? Has something changed or is my interpretation incorrect? Obviously site rules vary from place to place, which have you experienced and which do you think it should be?1 point -

Short version: ordered a pistol and holster, they've gone walkies thanks to DpD driver error. Rang patrol base, they're sending replacements which will be with me tomorrow and have refunded the postage. DPD were not helpful in the slightest, claiming they'd never seen the package, despite sending me notifications it had been delivered 🙄 But Patrol Base have been fantastic.1 point -
It was a standard walk on day. Most sites have a rule saying you cant shoot through something smaller then an A4 sheet of paper. Also many sites don't allow people to shoot with guns over their head. The thing is you're bringing up points that really have no bearing on this specific situation and only replying with a bit of "Whataboutery?". Some people say Airsoft is either supposed to be playing it as it's own sport and not following any traditional ideas of how a rifle would be used in real life, OR going full milsim and only playing with low caps. The right thing for me is somewhere around the middle, making play immersive but fun for the majority at the same time. I would hazard a guess that what the guy was doing in my scenario may not be against the rules of some sites, but is not the norm and is certainly going against the spirit of the game. I would like to think most people would agree with me. But I couldn't speak for them.1 point

I never said it was necessarily a safety issue, but imagine if everyone did the same thing? I dont think he could see where his barrel was pointing because it was waving above his head, sure right direction, but at what elevation? The point is you should have something showing to be shot at, it keeps games flowing. Gun hits are not a thing on many sites. No problem with snipers on the ground mostly hidden. At least they are using the rifle in a realistic way, knowing exactly where the barrel is pointing and not being completely hidden.1 point -
As a pistol player I much prefer to use standard size green gas mags. A good gbb pistol will work well on green and most are capable of rapping off shots relatively quickly. Personally I prefer the freedom of not being tethered to a line and a massive bottle on my person or having a big stupid unwieldy mag of some sort.1 point

Back on topic. It seems they've gone back to the drawing board with both the gen.4 19 & 17. I saw on their twitter that in December they were offering owners of either the opportunity to apply for a new hammer assembly for either model. Seems some of the measurements were out. Also a few UK retailers have recently received Marui deliveries and neither model seems among the items restocked. So I guess there will be a new batch in which this issue doesn't occur.1 point -

Which I what I did, along with some Loctite 270 which you can only weaken with heat, and all the sites I've been to so far have been happy with this (I really didn't want to hack the selector plate about etc.). This was the No.1 reason why I waited until I had the cash and used a Double Eagle M908A as the base for a DMR, cycle control with the Falcon Controller so no worries about potentials jams on semi. Only other thing I'd add is factor in potentially replacing your cylinder, trying a few different ones, as my DMR wasn't up to scratch until I went with a 4/5 (and probably a full / closed one would have been better).1 point -

After attempting to implement two different 3rd party antispam measures, leaning on IPS's supposedly 'very good' antispam system and generally restricting post counts and interactions on new accounts to a minimum to keep spam down it's still obvious that spam is getting through (and in a particularly obnoxious way). Admitting defeat, I've enabled the question and answer challenge spam prevention on the sign-up form with two questions currently in the rotation. You've probably seen this a lot on other forums, but in case you aren't familiar the Q&A challenge is simply a single question posed to prospective new joiners that they have to answer correctly in order to sign up. Typically these questions are themed so as to fit that of the forum and confound spammers who probably don't even know what your forum's primary subject is anyway. I'd like to get this to five questions total and can't really think of anything else that fits the criteria below well so I'm hoping that a few of you can help with suggestions: Please do not post your suggestions here, but instead PM them to me*. I'd rather these answers aren't indexed and easily searchable on our own URL. Free patch (posted) for the 3-4 that're picked. Remember: The person signing up might have very little knowledge of airsoft at all Questions should nevertheless probably be airsoft themed to reduce overlap with these spammer's general knowledge Answers to these questions should be short as they will be checked against a list of appropriate answers with no human in the loop at all, so if they have to answer with more than one or two words it's probably not going to work If you want to see the existing questions, here they are: Not necessarily attached to either question (particularly the second). *I've enabled post approval simply so that one of you doesn't accidentally spill the beans on a good question.1 point

not that i've spent any time looking, but can't say i've ever heard of it for pistols. the systems on rifles tend to operate electronically and whilst it's technically feasable to do in a pistol i've never heard of it done. assuming this is for a cqb environment based on the want of hpa in pistol form i'd wager a lot of sites wouldn't be so keen on a binary trigger anyway. you might be mistaking people using conventional triggers and just spamming the hell out of it, which is a great way to win friends on-site.1 point -

It doesn't sound like a CJA 1988 prohibited weapon. If it were, then, yes, it's an offence to import, but there's a specific offence of "manufactures, sells or hires or offers for sale or hire, exposes or has in his possession for the purpose of sale or hire, or lends or gives to any other person". Exceptions rely on intent, not a loicence. That's not to say that one doesn't exist, but I can't see that it has any basis in law. The legislation is, I'm sure we know, a bit of joke, although not so funny when Dibble is kicking on your door to Check Your Thinking. It prohibits both hollow tubes ("blowpipes") and solid tubes ("batons"), aka sticks. Then we get to this absolute gem. (s) the weapon sometimes known as a “zombie knife”, “zombie killer knife” or “zombie slayer knife”, being a blade with— (i) a cutting edge; (ii) a serrated edge; and (iii) images or words (whether on the blade or handle) that suggest that it is to be used for the purpose of violence. Hurty words confirmed! Good on you for taking it calmly, I'm not sure I'd have been that reasonable. It does show that Border Farce are getting rabid for ratting folk out, and apparently they don't know the law either because on the face of it it sounds like what you imported was no more dangerous, prohibited or offensive than a spud peeler. I'm guessing that the Offensive Weapons Act 2019, which criminalised simple possession of a range of prohibited offensive weapons, is still a hot topic for Dibble, and is being enforced based on canteen wisdom rather than the letter of the law.1 point
