This one is very much half done, eventually I’ll get around to sourcing the parts needed to get carry handle transplanted onto an MWS upper. I’ve landed at a point where I kinda of like it with a weird old meets new thing going on, though it’s very much destined for that Blood Diamond inspired setup. Need to decide if the ranger band at the front gets swapped out for sniper tape, and likely get less shit at doing things with paracord… aaaaand figure out if I’m going to throw any paint at it 🤷🏻♂️. My MWS in it’s current state.2 points -

I got a bag/box full of KWA parts from the USA for my PTS CM4, as I'm converting it from a 10.5" to 14.5" configuration. I'm also an idiot because I broke my upper receiver while trying to unscrew barrel nut ring. PTS is using a shit ton of Loctite on everything; you've been warned! outer barrel inner barrel Centurion Arms CMR 14.5" M-LOK handguard KWA PTR upper receiver some minor spares and bits, just in case Might post pics soon! PS. After Brexit, if you order from the USA, any individual items that do not go above ₤135.00 will not be subject to either VAT or import duty. It's now much cheaper to import airsoft stuff from the US than it is to order from China!2 points -
Most manufacturers just don’t want to deal with Joe public , for the financial return it’s just not worth the hassle involved . Many moons ago I worked for a manufacturer who made home use products they had a sales site but the prices where jacked up to diswade the public buying from them . If you where buying a pallet full from them it was all automated , the distribution company turned up at the wharehouse gave the docket to the guys there , pallet on the truck away to go job done . someone orders a couple of boxes ? A docket was generated sent to the wharehouse , the guys there then had to go and bust open a pallet , take off how ever many boxes , take the boxes over to packaging , THEN go back and find a home for this half loaded pallet . Meanwhile someone from packaging had to take it distribution , they had to organise a courier and then finance sorted all the VAT und stuff ! 🤦♂️ Now I’m sure it’s lot easier now due to the TinTernet but even now a lot of hassle for a marginal return ? alternatively I could be talking utter bollox ? 🤣2 points

Just finished watching Black Hawk Down (again) and reminded why my original RIF loadout was an m14 and a 1911. Going to bring both to skirmish this weekend; last time I used them I had that kind of moment defending an objective from basically the whole enemy team.2 points -
I dont have anywhere to put a gun wall and have recently moved so have very little budget and no skills but set myself the challenge of making a armounry for £0 so i grabbed a wardrobe and set of draws off of gumtree for then used an old pallet and some slats from a bed for the extra wood. it doesnt look amazing but for a first attempt im reasonably happy with it. All ive actually had to pay for is the magazine and pistol hangers.2 points

Wasn't planning on posting about this before, but well, UP{S deserve this. I actually had 2 calls from UPS Brokerage East Midlands Airport after my parcel was delivered. They were very adamant that I needed to check an email that they had sent me, fill it in, scan and email it all back to them. Trawled through my emails and turns out they were customs clearance forms that were needed to release my parcel from customs so that it could be delivered to me. Only thing is (I'm sure you can see where this is going), it had already been released, delievered and retrieved by me.1 point

The follow up is how well versed are you with general maintenance, because you'll need to be regularly stripping a lubing with HPA. It's extremely dry i.e. no lube in it. The follow up being how's your knowledge of the AAP in terms of the parts which crap out quicker than others, do you know where to source them at prices you're willing to pay, in a time you're happy with and would you be comfortable fitting them in a safezone. Because they're all questions you should know the answer to, whether you HPA it or not really... but moreso if you HPA it (because lets be honest, you're going to be cranking that regulator as close to the limit as you can), and it's the only RIF you own. Follow up to those, insert all of the above questions in relation to RIF maintenance and apply it to your HPA kit (mags, regulator and tanks). Because if any of it fails on site and you don't either know how to fix it, or don't have what you need to repair it the words 'shit creek' and 'without paddle' come to mind. If you're set on going HPA with the AAP I'd strongly recommend going the Primary Airsoft adapter rather than tapping mags. Reloading tapped mags when it's your only RIF is a cumbersome mess and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. You've already thrown realism out of the window, get an adapter and take full advantage of the speedsoft life you've chosen to live (but will deny till the end of days). It's additional cost, but it's vastly superior to tapping mags imo. Yes, I'm also fun at parties. Yes, these questions come from experience. Goes without saying I'd advise getting another RIF (seemingly an AEG) before jumping into HPA... but this very much feels like a 'convince me not to HPA' thread than it does a 'I'm genuinely stuck between these two options'. P.S. Brucey Bonus of Buzzkillington, bear in mind the changes you may need to make to your kit to ensure you're still carrying everything you want plus your HPA equipment. I ran HPA for about 3 years and threw in the towel earlier this year because I couldn't be bothered with always having to find somewhere for the tank to go on my person. That was a big deal for me, it's obviously much less of an issue for others.1 point

Unrelated to TG, but very much related to UPS. I ordered some bits not RIF related from Italy, turns out UPS are the courier. Dispatched on the 1st of June, arrived at Stanford-No-Hope on the 4th and outside of the sporadic import scans nothing has happened. So it would appear that the main issue, of which there have been many suggestions/hypothesis is entirely unrelated to the fact the parcels contain RIFs. Apologies if this only serves to make folks feel worse, but it's seemingly nothing to do with the fact it's airsoft stuff. UPS are just continuing to be worse than usual in general... and the bar was already pretty low.1 point -

Yup. I've had a visit from the old bill after buying a holster and a TLR1 torch from the states. Was kind of pathetic to be honest, they pitched up about 4 weeks after it'd been delivered. Knocked on the door asked if I had ordered the items and why, then just kinda wandered off.1 point -

Cooldown is why I haven't, and won't, be buying a Black Mamba and end up with all that metal retaining the cold. The drum mag does have an effect though, in that for me it encourages me to spam the trigger a lot more, and I then have to consider how I manage using the pistol as a primary and factor in short periods for it to warm up again before pushing / engaging anyone. At the weekend I'm becoming a member of my local site, which then gives me free on-site HPA refills, so I'm seriously considering tapping the AW drum mag for this as it's just swapping out the input valve (and then putting the gas one back in afterwards and using some maintenance gas for the seals) so no more cooldown worries.1 point -

20% VAT + 3.5% duty + £11 + £15 (or whatever UPS stiff you with for billing you for the VAT and duty) If they would send it to the UK, which they won't. Once you get over £300 (and the rest) plus a sometime-to-never delivery date, it makes UK stock of TMs a bit more appealing.1 point

I just have to share what I managed to do today. I got a trade for my old ics m4 aeg with gate titan with a spare upper and 3 uppergearboxes(ics got split gearboxes like ptws cylinders). For a brand new mws with 5mags, original bolt, a lightweight bolt, a spare crazy jet 370mm barrel and a kwa 1911 with 2 co2 maggs :). Prolly my best trade ever :).1 point

Freshly purchased in a rather nice grey to use as the basis for a DMR. The stock, grip and handguard are plastic, but everything else is alloy or steel. Buffer tube, receiver, outer barrel, delta ring, sights, sling mounts, trigger, fire selector, charging handle, forward assist, rear sight and its adjusters are all metal. The receiver is a really good tight closure with no wobble there or in the barrel or grip, and there's not much in the stock. I've not had the gearbox apart yet, but there's blue goo lube in there, it's not too loud, and with a little squirt of silicone lube down the nozzle it's shooting at a respectable and consistent 1.07J / 340fps @ 0.2g on the M90 spring, so the air seal seems fine, as it should be with double-o-ring piston and cylinder heads and an o-ring nozzle. It's got the advertised rotary hop which seems very similar to the ZCI plastic rotary which works well, although the adjustment wheel isn't as secure. The hop rubber is generic, but it's got a style of hop nub that I've never seen before, semi-circular on top, but flat on the bottom and extended front-and-back to fill more of the length of the hop window. That seems to make sense and was a pleasant little surprise - it should work well with the s-hop that I'm going to inflict on it. The "enter and convert" QC gearbox is as described, the spring can be changed without taking the gearbox out, just get the buffer tube off. That's a bit of a chore to get off and back on, mind, and I'm just off to buy a properly long screwdriver. The wiring cable is stiff and doesn't want to coil up inside the buffer tube either, making shortening the stock rather difficult. Being wired to Deans via a basic Gate X-ASR mosfet is a great idea, and it's practically begging to have a Gate Warfet or MERF dropped in for 3 round bursts. The 275mm barrel is heavy brass and has no obvious internal blemishes, although it's not the neatest on the outside. It was well oiled internally and needed a thorough clean out using the supplied and usefully long cleaning rod. It's not all great though. The handguard is very disappointing, being a hard, cheap feeling plastic that's wobblier than a politician's promise. It's slightly bananad and the halves don't want to close up tightly - you can see that even on PatrolBase's advertising pictures. The wobble is down to the halves not gripping the delta star ring securely. I've bodged it all tight with electrical tape around the barrel, between the guard and the star ring, and whipped around to hold the guard tightly together. It's fixable, but shouldn't need to be. The tight interface at the rear of the receiver halves also made it a sod to get apart, I was looking for a pin that I thought I must have missed, but it's just the standard front pin. When it eventually did part company, I was using so much force that I managed to stretch the charging handle spring to an unusable length and snap the plastic part of the mechanism in half. My bad, fixable, and not a big deal. The secret is to lift the front of the upper receiver a faction, both during disassembly and reassembly. I can't really blame them for having achieved a secure fit. The no-screws latch mechanism on the bottom of the pistol grip is nice in principle but in practice the pinned latch just gets in the way, and it's not an area that really needs quick access anyway - I might replace the grip with something less clever. The Specna Arms "advanced" motor isn't that strong and the wiring is disappointingly thin. The motor height adjuster doesn't have a separate E-Z-Looze disk, which is a nice change. It's a good fit for the Specna Arms motor, but I had to do quite a bit of filing to get a slightly longer Big Dragon M140 to fit instead, and the bottom plate mechanism is unforgiving there, it either closes, or it doesn't. On balance, it seems decent enough out of the box, just clean the barrel and hop, plug in a Deans battery and go. I do have to flag up the poor handguard though, it's fixable, but that's no excuse. Would I recommend it? Provisionally, yes, pending playing with it. I don't expect it to be either poor or magical. Puff is consistent, the hop mechanism looks decent, the barrel is probably OK, although I'll be replacing both of those anyway. At £140 for a metal body and a set of decent air seal parts that sharply reduced the size and cost of my followup AK2M4 order, the value proposition is what sold it to me.1 point
