  2. Well iv been playing now for around 3 months. And during that time myself and my bro have frequented ucap bunker. (For those who have not played it, 350fps limit and full ato everywhere, with all dark tunnels) Today we traved to the mall, an hour and a bit away. Every one raves about it so we decided to check it out....... Oh my, its bloody amazing!!! Very well marshelled, great games, exellent team spirit from the players on our team. 112 players today all in all and didnt feel crowded atal. The site is very very playable. I now see what all the fuss is about. We will defo be back on the regular! For any noobs who havnt been, it really is worth a trip.

I would recommend having a go at fixing it, it will be a good learning experience The FPS loss is going to be either a compression issue or the nozzle is not engaging properly. If the handle is getting hot it probably means the motor height needs adjusting or/and it could need re-shimming. Has the previous owner been taking the gun apart?

There's no 'rank structure' in airsoft, it's grown men and teenagers shooting at each other with BB guns for fun. As for awarding yourself a couple of stripes.... get a grip, rank in the military (in most branches at least) is EARNED with hard work and merit, not simply having been round the block a few times. Imagine how much of a tit you'd look if someone recognised the unit badge and rank slide and asked "oh, you're in 2 para, do you know L/Cpl Smith, his mates call him Smudge?" and you have to reply "sorry mate, just thought I'd give myself a couple of stripes since I think I've got some leadership skills".

Airsoft is a hobby to most, a sport to some and a serious past time to a few; there are no ranks in airsoft, only players, and you can't really 'award' yourself a rank. Some teams have their own internal rank structure, but you would have to find who those teams are, try to join them and then try to fulfil their promotion requirements. Personally, I would stay clear of wearing rank, as it is likely to draw unnecessary attention to yourself, which may not be a good idea especially if you are just starting out.

    Hey there!!!

Welcome to the forum and UK airsoft. You could try just going to a game at Gunman in Kings Langley or the School. There is a thread on here called M25 airsoft which might help. Failing that there is a London Airsofters group on Facebook.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlV5peGEnag This is how you test how good the compression is. i If the compression is fine try this method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFnUjxdiXuU. if that seems ok, watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jj0mM8A2C3A# to find out if the nozzleand tappet is ok. The video also shows how to change the motor height. If the nozzle is fine then it is probably the spring that needs changing.

  14. no, because the plastic BBs we fire tend to bounce about like buggery when they hit something hard, whereas lead pellets just deform and hit the floor. If you want to zero your sights etc you don't need a range you just need a 25 yard open space and a couple of sheets of A4 paper.

  16. Welcome to the forums and the world of airsoft. Just one, little, tiny, niggle... you don't need a licence to buy a RIF, UKARA is a way to prove you have a defence to the Violent Crime Reduction Act (VCRA) 2006

  17. To be honest, no. Although the venue is semi only, you are going to be out-ranged and out-classed by those of us that use rifles. They do limit ammo per game, but unless you are carrying about 10-15 mags with you you'll have to leave the game and re-load in the safe area every few minutes, as in-game reloads are not allowed. If you want to go, book in and hire one of their rifles and just use your pistol as a backup. And an electric G18 isn't going to be anywhere near as good as a GBB pistol even in that environment. They are better as a backup for winter woodland games where gas cool down limits how well GBB pistols work in cold weather.

  18. I once spent an entire game day at billericay (at no charge) doing tech work to get my R hop patch working perfectly. I just sat in the safe zone and my sand paper and tools laid out on the bench and worked on it all day, constantly taking the gun apart and putting it back together and test shooting it at their chrono area. A lot of the bigger out door sites are going to let you do a similar thing if you just ask.

  19. I have been treating myself lately! Bought a KWA Kriss Vector with 3 mags, a Madbull SOCOM stock and a 335mm suppressor! I plan to get the suppressor with the integrated inner barrel to put on my Vector (heard the FPS shoots up! Makes the gun fire hot though so not for skirmishes). But yeah!

I wear patches that either make me smile, (hulk patch that reminds me of my son or Star Wars coffee) or feel pride about (Union Jack). Something that reflects my interests and or means something is ideal. Pretending to be a rank or from an armed force I've never been in seems too fake and belittles the achievements of the real soldiers out there imo. It's like buying a karate black belt and pretending you earned it. That's a big no no I'm my book as I've studied various Martial arts over the years. I am very proud of my various belts, especially my brown belt in kickboxing but I'd never buy a black belt and try and pass myself off as a rank higher than I am. Even to someone who has never studied martial arts and would be unlikely to know the difference.

  21. Yes - try just visiting one if they're close. There's a new indoor air rifle range near me that is very well set up. They have 6 rifle lanes and 2 pistol lanes. You can rent an air rifle or take your own and pay for the time you spend shooting. I wouldn't mention airsoft as they will be thought of as toys. I'm not sure whether you're after just somewhere to shoot or looking for a job? If you can get a job in an air rifle range I would imagine it's a good stepping stone for getting into the firearms licensed ranges (.22 rim fire guns). If it's just somewhere to shoot, maybe start becoming a regular? I just turned up at the air rifle range with a mate one week day (we were having an important meeting for work ;-) ) and paid to rent 2 guns and two shooting lanes. They gave us a minute or two's safety talk and showed us how to load the rifles (PCP multi shot) then pretty much left us to it - but we are both grumpy old men in our forties That was it, nothing complicated. I'd imagine if you did that regularly then turned up one day with an airsoft gun, they'd chuckle a bit but might let you use it. The only issue I can see are ricochets - those plastic bbs will bounce around all over the place, so they may not want them in the range. All the pistols they hire are CO2 firing metal 6mm BBs, so I guess they don't bounce around as much? There is certainly no requirement to wear eye protection while shooting, which I thought was a little odd!

    Gun Ranges - Buzzwords

That's all I had tried, I was not aware there was a distinction between powder ammunition and air powered guns for ranges. Theres two within walking distance of my parents house... I will give them a look in sometime.

  23. A lot of very good suggestions already. 1)house of parliament (with pm and all mp's still inside as they can be used as shields) 2)go ape.one team on high obs course and other on ground. Ground team has to stop others from reaching end of high obs, zip wires etc. 3)old castles, there's lots of these old battle fortresses all over. And finally, The mirror room from Bruce lees "dragon" movie.

  24. Think of it this way. You run a field with 2 days milsim events, with serious players, ongoing ops, etc. Then a guy - probably very young - emails you if he can join you with his nerf gun. He says he is very serious about it, even painted it green. Try airgun ranges or clubs IMO.

  27. Here's a question - is it actually the OP's house or his parents? Or is it multiple occupation? In either case, if he's in the minority then it doesn't matter. Take the keys out like everyone else does and get on with your life. If of course it IS his house then screw them, it's your house your rules.

  32. ^ Yes sorry Sp00n has made a good point. I wasn't recommending you buy the Norvitsch kits. I think they are overpriced. But it's a good idea of what upgrades to think about when sourcing them yourself. The kit direct from EdGi is currently £200 inc shipping which includes an uprated Trigger not in the Norvitsch kits ( IIRC) Well worth looking into if that's the kit you go for.

  34. What "can" sometimes happen is that you store the gun with it pre-cocked by accident over time the spring will lose tension a considerable bit and can drop to under 300 if left like this for a while 2 things to do on finishing for day when you return home to store gun (or just leave it in bag - store gun is a term loosely used but mine are always wrapped in silk blankets) anyway - empty mags as if stored with spring wound hi caps or mid-caps they can lose tension and efficiency often with hi-caps you gradually find you no longer get 20-30 or so shots on a full winding and this drops the crappy half a dozen also fire gun on semi twice they say to help ensure gun/spring/gears are parked correctly with min tension what you are trying to do is leave it pre-cocked/wound for a little while to deliberately lose a smidge of tension and no you wouldn't lose much if any real tension by a game or two the cm.515 was still 348/349 and I did just adjust a smidge more hop to get her under (ain't gonna clean barrel just yet either or I could be back over the limit, and forget a tbb in there for a while) Lipo battery I'd leave it partly charged and charge it night before game but don't listen to me too much about lipo's note this was dodgy looking lipo - crapped myself as it sparked hissed dropping it in hallway then bursting into flames kicked it out the front door friday night but scorched the carpet - missus not happy but on flip side now got the go ahead to buy a ton of new lipo's but take it from me - if they look a bit dodgy or more just a little puffy replace them this was a cheapo brand x one and not a proper decent make like Zippy, Turnigy, Vapex, WE etc.... f*ck me all smoke alarms going off and stink - maybe make a claim on insurance or she will get new hall carpet could of been a LOT LOT worse - so yeah a little care IS needed in handling/storing/charging lipo's (another lesson learnt - but this was a moody battery btw so don't all rush out and build asbestos charging rooms - just common sense)

  35. I don't know about you but I'd still open the door with the key. Easy in and easy out. I wouldn't fancy climbing though a smashed window and then having to climb out again with your expensive toaster in one arm as I could cut myself and leave DNA and if its a full pane of glass guaranteed that you'll end up tripping on it. Don't make the mistake of thinking most criminals are stupid (some are!) Do your best to make it as difficult as you can for them and chances are someone 3 doors away won't have and they'll get done instead.

  36. Welcome aboard Everyone's a noob at some point, but not for long, so don't worry about asking stuff, there's no dumb questions. So ask away. If you're doing CQB, obviously light and maneuverable is the thing. So gun-wise, small is good: UZI, Mac 10/11, MP5K, P90, AKS74U, Skorpion, short M4, tactical shotgun etc. Keep in mind that some CQB sites are semi-auto only, and those that aren't may still have a semi-auto only rule at short ranges, so avoid anything that can't go semi-auto, such as the ASG STEN gun (well, not without modification anyway), which would otherwise be a good CQB choice. Also be aware that many small SMGs such as the UZI and the Skorpion have high rates of fire and comparatively small mags, which can easily leave you out of ammo at an awkward moment, whereas most things like an AEG MP5K or AEG AKS74U, will come with a high cap mag (typically something like 300 rounds), so there's less expense initially in not needing to buy spare mags straight away, and the likelihood is that the one high cap mag will last the entire fight without the need to reload. Most people and most guides will tell new players to not worry about a pistol until later, and whilst that is generally good advice, in CQB, a pistol is a good thing to have to hand, and you could even go pistol only at some small CQB sites. But, it being winter, gas blowback pistols can be iffy choices, since they can struggle to work well in cold temperatures, so if you are considering a pistol, then either a non-blowback gas one is a better choice, since they are cheaper and more efficient on gas, or more preferably, an electric semi-auto pistol, since they'll perform okay all-year-round whether it is hot or cold. At a push you can use a cheap cock and fire springer pistol, but it's slower and not ideal, although they do have the virtue of being reliable and inexpensive. A plastic knife is also a good thing for CQB, since although you can touch someone with your hand and say 'knife kill' at most sites, and it will count, one thing you cannot do is throw your hand, whereas obviously you can throw a plastic knife, and as with a BB, a hit anywhere on someone with a thrown knife will count as a kill. Make sure anything you do buy has a bendy plastic/rubber blade though, or you will not be able to use it. Similarly, grenades can be a game-changer in CQB. But be sure to check with your regular site as to which kind are permissible (typically that will be BFGs - blank firing grenades - but check anyway). they can be pricey, so make sure that if you do get one, you don't get one that is something you cannot use at your local site, for example, some pyro grenades cannot be used at sites where there is combustible material such as curtains in the place. If you get a tactical vest or webbing, be sure to get something that you can easily open and close the pouches on when it's cramped and dark (as it often is in CQB). Practicality wins over cool looks every time. Ebay and Amazon are the place to look for inexpensive ones. Worry about getting cool top notch crap later on. Get a small portable torch. You can mount a tac light on your weapon, and that's a good idea in CQB, but a small torch is also good to have for things like reloading and such. Make sure you wear full face protection and cover your neck, a helmet is good too, but a baseball cap will suffice. You will take more hits to the head than anywhere else in CQB, and at those kind of short ranges, even a sh*tty cheap springer pistol will fire a BB fast enough to smash a tooth out. An Arabian Keffiyah (shemagh) scarf will provide good neck protection, and you really do want to cover your neck, because a BB hit on your Adam's Apple will make your eyes water, and it will also draw blood. Take a small water bottle, even in winter you will dehydrate when running and diving about all over the place. Consider knee and elbow pads. CQB sites invariably have hard concrete floors, and that will hurt your knees if you kneel down behind cover. failing that, consider wearing long johns under your combat pants, they will help to stop hits hurting so much, will keep you warm in the present winter and will also provide additional protection from hit, bumps and bruises. Gloves are not a bad idea too. Your hands will take hits, since they are generally exposed to fire because you are holding your weapon with them, and a BB hit on the fingernail in cold weather will hurt like a motherf*cker. Any old thin leather gloves from a cheapy shop will do, but make sure they are a snug fit so that you can operate your weapon's safety catch easily. Hope some of that helps. You'll be an old hand in no time, but when it comes to buying gear, think carefully and don't let your heart rule your head. Almost everyone who starts out ends up buying some crap that they later don't use or regret having bought, so be sure to ask on this site if you are unsure about whether anything is a good or bad choice. Airsoft gear may not be free, but good advice is, and there is plenty available from the people on here. Have fun and enjoy it. It's a really cool hobby to have and one which will let you do many cool things.
