  1. If you cannot find a patch to slap on your kit that you enjoy/find funny/associate with personally.. you've not looked hard enough. I absolutely f*cking guarantee that whatever you're in to, whatever your style is, there's a patch somewhere you will like. There are a few designs out there which I class as 'douchebag/childish moron indicators' as anybody who wears them in a serious manner is 90% probably a d-bag. They come in quite handy for figuring out who to avoid though. The key is to read the slogan or whatever, then imagine how it reads in a totally deadpan voice to a total stranger who doesn't have any idea who you are or what you're like as a person. I think most gay people, females etc (i.e. the tiny majority of airsofters) will have some sense of humour, but patches saying 'cock fag' and 'all bitches need to suck my dick' etc fit in to the d-bag indicator category.

  2. That's the thing... the Poseidon. Sadly gave the kit away when I quit airsofting about 10 years ago (along with some guns that are worth an absolute mint nowadays, but you live and learn!). I would actually prefer the TM, as it is what I have known for years. As for the 'real-steel' snobbery, I can live with that... *Edit* Found a pic of the kit I had:

  3. You kinda answered your own question when you said it's range is pretty good anyway. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you want the faff then go for it, hop up parts aren't that expensive, if you're just buying a good bucking and nub (ie flat hopping for example) you won't spend more than 20 quid, it cost me that much for a prommy purple bucking and maple leaf (nearly) flat nub for my g5

  4. Don't reinvent the wheel. Even airsoft mechanics with tremendous experience don't make inner barrels. Those should be very straight lengthwise. If you turn it and work on it that way, it can be precise in diameter but it still can be wavy. There is a lapping tool someone makes that polishes the barrel lengthwise, but it doesn't make much difference. The high end inner barrels are very good and I don't think they can be improved in a workshop. Also bear in mind that inner barrels don't contribute much to the accuracy. Even if you have a normal chinese gun, and change only the inner barrel, there won't be much improvement. If the original wasn't faulty (scratches or bent) then the difference is not noticeable. Precision barrels are one of the worst price/value upgrades. When you get the gun, check the inner barrel if it's straight, and polish it maybe.

  5. I have a g&g l85. Head over to the sa80 page on Facebook, always people selling them second hand on there. If you decide against bulpup in the end I personally like the g36 for weight and balance and they are fairly easy to mod. What improves accuracy is a combination of things. Better barrel 6.03 or 6.05 should work well but buy a decent make. New hop up chamber. G&g green bucking and nub works well. And if your looking for more range you can look into flat hops and r hops.

  7. Seconded, a good hop will work well enough without having to faff with a g/r/z hop. I don't think a flat hop is much faff, I bet you can even buy a ready-made bucking to save you having to sand the mound off. I was lucky in that the Orga Magnus barrel in my g5 has a seperate cutting on the outside so you can flat hop it without modifying the bucking, a piece of cake to fit, but probably not suitable for an AEG due to the loss of power and the need for lots of air in the cylinder

  8. My tanfoglio mag was leaking, basically as soon as I fitted the cartridge all the gas fell out... It was leaking from the little doughnut shaped seal that sits around the "spike" So I made a new one... Ground the top off a gas Cartridge, got a drill bit the same size as the doughnut seal, drilled that in to the end of the cartridge and used that as a stamp to cut out a little ring of rubber... And to put the little hole in the middle, fit the rubber, take an old empty cartridge and fit it as usual and the cutter puts a little hole in it ! Job done. Grab a beer. Thank you.

  9. People that rate rhops so high are usually just trying to justify their effort. They do improve things a bit but not to the level of the the urban legend they have become. At the end of the day its a little plastic ball that can be diverted on its flight trajectory by the slightest breeze.

  10. Actually I think the ability to comment more freely makes this the most decent forum out there.I think its the responsibility of all airsofters to help prevent people from being ripped off. If someone is selling something that is rare or collectible for more than its original value thats fine. But selling something for more than its worth in the hope of someone being stupid enough to buy it is out of order. Some people on here say its the fault of the buyer for being ripped off because they should do there homework, this is true to a point but I still think the seller has the moral responsibility not to take advantage of someones ignorance. Its called being fair and decent and if your not and someone trashes your sale its your own fault for being a nob. Sorry to hear about your sale going wrong but if the person who says they could get it cheaper doesn't provide any evidence then they should be ignored anyway,I know I would.

    Trouser modifications

Ask in the local dry cleaners.. most of em will be able to take em in etc.. may even be able to help with the velcro for a extra fee.. Worth an ask anyway!!

  13. From what I read. A g hop uses a chopped up hop bucking and an r hop uses a bespoke patch. I personally don't know if they're worth the Faffing around, just that they do involve some Faffing about and people speak very highly of the results.

    Baofeng UV-5R

Loads of seelers on eBay will get you one next day. Rather than the UV-5R go for the GT3 MK II - same radio but pretty much every bit upgraded in some small way, no more than £5 more and you'll probably get more accessories with it. A little bit more bash proof too and the antenna is flexible so not likely to snap like the solid rubber one on the 5r

  15. Why would you go to the effort of making a salient slide kit and then include a silver barrel? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE!?

  16. It'll only fit an M4 with the same dimensions as TM. JG have cloned this bodykit (originally made by a company called Poseidon which sounds like what you got 12 years ago, if you still have it dig it out as isn't exported anymore so might be worth something) as well as the TM M4 it was made to go on. ICS M4's are about a cm longer and don't fit, no idea about G&G or other manufacturers. In terms of taking it apart the pins can be pretty stubborn and require careful force the first time, otherwise it's pretty easy. It will prompt a fair bit of 'that's not real-steel' snobbery from the Walts, or a general opinion of ugliness from anyone without a nerdy side (i assume due to no supporting footage of soldiers or movie-stars using them), but that can only make shooting them with it more fun

    Another M1911 question

Co2 is a gas and many companies refer to a gun being "gas blowback" if it accepts or runs on Co2. So don't be so harsh on Qlimax

  22. Couple of years back I sold a marui M870 online for a profit. There were none available to buy retail anywhere in the world at a reasonable price so I put it up intending to make a quick £50 over what I paid for it (didn't really get on with it for skirmishing, not my sort of gun it seems). Someone bought it within a day and I thought to myself, I could have made more there. Supply meeting demand, if the 'close the thread if it's over priced' rule existed, I couldn't have done that. In short, if the asking price is too high, people won't pay it.

    Bullpups and no brains :D

M14 is very front heavy. Famas is way too old. Don't go bullpup because of the barrel length, so you have much more choices. AK is not an M4 and is a good choice. You can go full tactical or oldschool too.

    Bullpups and no brains :D

If you want something under £200, that is accurate, then bullpups may not be the way to go. Consider an M14 or AK. Barrel length only affects range if the barrel is too short for the bb to achieve stability. This is unlikely to be an issue.

2 Tone BB guns at skirmishes

As previously said, we all have to start somewhere. Some people will poo-poo you for your two-tone, but at the end of the day if that's all you can get then so be it. I have never been a 'serious' airsofter in over 16 years - I wear what I want, and use whatever weapon(s) I want; I don't care about realism just to have a good time. Some people are ultra serious, and this is where you may find some snobbery. As for sites banning two-tone weapons? Well, they probably won't be worth playing at as a new starter (they probably cater for the 'realists') Baz JJ summed it up - research and have fun

  33. One of the things a recent post (and many others) on these forums contained was a community response and commenting on possibly overpriced goods that was to me - extremely helpful, and amusing. I have played the sport for near 10 years now, but am supremely ignorant when it comes to most things to do with RIF's. And with the continually expanding/shifting and difficult to swiftly research manufacturer landscape, I find it very hard to keep up, even if I do get a toe grip on some relevant knowledge. For example, yesterday I became aware companies called SHS/Lonex/Prometheus produce good quality stuff apparently. If the forum just closed down potentially overpriced items, or stifled discussion, I perhaps wouldn't be able to leech off other members knowledge and expertise quite as much as I can now, and I'd simply never gleam some of the things that might one day, be useful. Seeing members highlight something as possibly overpriced, especially with links to where it can be purchased like-for-like (domestically) cheaper&new is brilliant, IMO. But beyond that, a forum that allows the community to discuss and heap on the explanation as to why something is overpriced is a forum feature I would like to keep.

    Not taking hits?

I dont think anyone* deliberately not taking hits. Thou yea, there is a crowd of people that carries more gear than what is needed in airsoft, hence do not feel a lot of hits.

  35. Am I the only one who doesnt give a toss about ebay. All the cheap stores that use it generally have their own sites as well so never felt the need to use it. I think the only thing airsofters are really losing out on is the couple of extra seconds it takes to type in tiger111 or airsoftclub. But for that you are gaining the peace of mind of using a legitimate store. How many people on here have problems with ebay sales? Ebay are the only ones losing out, I guarantee soon you will have airsoftbay or something else pop up anyway.
