Tactical laser power
Airsoft_Mr B and 2 others reacted to Tariq for a topic
Red lasers wont be a beam, just a dot. Unless you are in smoke, fog etc. Green lasers are usually produce a visible beam however are usually more than 5mW. UK legal ones are maximum at 5mW. You technically can import more powerful ones legally, however most reputable sites will not allow anything more powerful than 5mW. Go for a 5mW, they're not really that powerful but you can use them at most sites. Range wise you will get about 30m before the dot becomes quite faint during the daytime outside. Indoors you generally dont need to worry.3 points -

There are a lot of very complex game mechanics you have to really know, understand and work on to get good at the game. There's a gigantic Battlefield YouTube community, and instead of it just being full of crazy montages, a lot of it is actually talking about how to make use of the game mechanics. They teach you how to play the game properly. Also, don't call it camping, call it defending, because that's what it is. If you're good enough at the game then someone camping in a corner for the whole game will last maybe 2 minutes tops, because as soon as they kill a person, that person knows where they are, and unless they're using a suppressor they're going to appear on the map and if they appear on the map, everyone's going to know they're there and then they lose their surprise advantage when someone rounds the corner on them. It gains them nothing unless it's an area with a clear view of an M-Com in Rush, or if they're within the cap radius of a Conquest point. ...Or they're an ass hole. Team work tends to come in the form of being given health and ammo by Assault and Support players, more so than moving around in a squad and sticking together. Engineers can repair vehicles and Recons can "spot" people... Like everyone else. If you play on Hardcore mode (go into the server options and filter for it) then everyone's health gets reduced to 60% as maximum, so guns tend to kill a lot faster, health doesn't regenerate and there's also no mini-map, so you have to rely on sight and sound alone, instead of the mini-map, which I passionately detest, it's like a built in 3D wall hack.3 points -

Just got a G&G Scar-L and i want to upgrade it any idea's?
MrCheesman94 and one other reacted to CaptainDumbass for a topic
Okay okay, you want a high speed scar? I'm your guy I recently turned my scar into a HS setup and now it fires 40rps @ 340fps Parts you will need: m100 Spring Steel teeth piston SHS ultra high torque motor SHS/Super Shooter 13:1 Gear set Shims, Lots of them teflon grease better gearbox wiring Mosfet (this is a must) 6.03mm 363mm Madbull barrel (optional) And a 9.9V LiFePO4 battery (I recommend staying away from 11v lipo's) Work required: Hours and hours worth of shimming & greasing the new gears. (this is the most important part of the entire set up, its a pain in the ass but if there is one wrong shimmed gear it will slow it down dramatically) Greasing basically any moving part in the gun. Swiss cheesing the piston slightly. (don't got ott with this i hardly did any) Making sure the contact between the motor pinion gear and bevel gear is aligned perfectly, you cant afford to tighten you pistol grip too much/little. Correcting angle of engagement. Polishing cylinder head. (optional, but i personally think its worth it) Hair Trigger All the tutorials and tips to do all of the above processes can be found at http://airsofttutorials.com/tutorials.html By installing all the listed parts and doing the required work you will have a very high speed gun and instant trigger response.2 points -

Airsoft_Mr B and one other reacted to Airsoft-Ed for a topic
I don't like unrealistically high rof either, but if you want your gun to be snappy and responsive on semi-auto as well then you're going to end up with it shooting over 20 rounds a second for it to not feel sluggish. That's what I love about gas guns, instant trigger response without the rof needing to be moronically high on full auto. As for this SCAR in question though, I'm betting there's all sorts of air seal issues for it to be shooting at 190, there's no way in hell anyone would downgrade something that low, there's no call for it whatsoever. I'd check the hop, the piston and the cylinder head, it's possible all the seals are shagged, there could potentially by piston wear too, making it release early. Or perhaps the cylinder is ported and it was put in backwards...2 points -
In these situations I/we (my buddies are of a similar mindset) tend to go for the "lead by example" approach of using the age old battle cry "Oh FFS, get out of the way" and charging headlong into the foe. Sometimes it breaks the stalemate, sometimes it just serves as amusement but either way - it's not me standing in the midst of a gagglefuck anymore!2 points

Keep calm.... The more relaxed your mind is, you will benefit from: Improved decision making and awareness Improved stamina (red mist zaps energy like you wouldn't believe) Improved understanding and communication But most of all keeping calm makes you look like one hell of a badass! Imagine a situation where you walk round a corner suspecting there are multiple targets. You go into a panicked hysteria and attempt to spray the entire room whilst looking away behind you because you are scared of getting hit in the face. Alternatively (and you can even use a pistol for this as apposed to an aeg) you can step out quickly but calmly. Your brain will automatically process the targets so acquisition is easier and faster. You get 4 targets in 4 rounds and the guys you hit were left looking panicked themselves! They walk away beliving you are a cyborg lol. This is made twice as badass if you use a revolver and you enter the realms of true badass motherfuckery if you do this with a knife! I have with my own eyes seen a friend literally walk through 12 guys with aegs whilst he took them all out with dual pistols. Casual but extremely effective and utterly badass2 points -

Ares M4 gearbox replacement (ZCI Shell)
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to straffham for a topic
Ok, so my Ares M4 suffered terminal gearbox failure. Even though it hasn't been used a lot in its 4 years, the monkey metal used in the original shell has disintegrated around the cylinder head. I emailed Ares for prices for a new shell, came back as 73USD posted, plus customs and admin fees when it arrived no doubt. As I wanted to keep the repair as cheap as possible, coupled with my doubts the new Ares shell would survive any longer than the original, made me seek an alternative. The options available were: 1) to buy a standard V2 shell and swap the Ares internals into it; problem here being the Ares trigger / microswitch won't fit into a standard shell designed for standard switch parts, also the spring guide is different as the Ares box has a QD spring guide; 2) buy a complete V2 gearbox such as the ZCI or Specna Arms ones which can be had for around £50; However Forum member ak2m4 suggested a third option; a ZCI shell which is essentially a clone of the Ares shell design, and comes with trigger, microswitch and wiring, plus spring guide. Costing £30 this seemed the best value option so one was ordered from his website with a couple of other bits. Great value and great service too! The shell is a budget one but seems pretty well cast in fairness. The original Ares 8mm bearings and bushings dropped in fine, I had to remove a couple of the Ares shims to get the gears turning freely in the new shell. Whilst apart I fitted a new "Core" vented bearing piston head (I always fit a bearing piston head or bearing spring guide to my gearboxes to remove spring torque) and fitted the cylinder / cylinder head / piston / tappet plate / air nozzle. No fiddling about with the trigger and switch required, they're already in the new shell and deceptively simple in design, as is the selector plate and safety (which worried me slightly initially). All that was needed was to reroute the wiring as its fitted for a rear set up, but my gun needs a front wired arrangement. After a check everything was in place, and a relube, the gearbox was closed up, the spring and spring guide fitted and tested for free movement and function, as per the pic below. The Ares pistol grip and motor were then fitted and the whole assembly tested electrically, and hey presto, all worked perfectly, safety, single shot and full auto! I was advised by Pete (ak2m4) some minor filing may be needed; I found I did have to file a tiny amount where the hop unit locates in the front of the shell as it wasn't quite "round", and a little casting flash from on top ot the shell where the 2 halves meet, plus open the holes out slightly where the small receiver pin passes through the gearbox above the trigger but nothing else otherwise. Time will tell how it stands up to use but I'm pleased to have fixed my M4 at fairly low cost AND been able to retain the quick release spring feature, and it still fires around the original velocity of 325FPS. I would particularly like to thank (and plug) Forum member Pete (ak2m4) for bringing the ZCI shell to my attention, his website www.ak2m4.co.uk is full of useful parts at reasonable prices.1 point -

Print it out on paper the size you want it so you can plan your layout. And get some good scalpel blades cos you're gonna need a few to cut and weed an entire gun! Paint mask vinyl WILL give you a sharper edge but getting it around all the fiddly bits would take some major patience. Finishes like Kryptek actually look better hydrodipped unless you want a colour they don't do.1 point -

battlefield 3
Lozart reacted to Airsoft-Ed for a topic
There isn't really a definitive line you can cross in order to say you're good at the game; there are a lot of ways to play it. Someone could be a totally mindless retard but have exceptionally good reflexes and just run about like a headless chicken and manage to come out on top (I fucking hate those people). I put over 1400 hours into BF3 by the time BF4 released and due to my play style I still wasn't even at the max rank. I'd say it'll take you a good hundred hours or more to really get to grips with it. I'm still trying to break bad habits even now. When someone catches me unawares I tend to strafe instead of turn to try to get the crosshairs on people, often putting me in a more shit position. Though that's probably easier to do on console than on PC, where you movement and aiming controls are very significantly different. I'm also still teaching myself to cancel reloads by switching weapons and back again. So often I die in a reload when I didn't even really need to go for one. Getting over stuff like that is the hardest part of the game, knowing where you need to be and what you need to do in order to win is easy, and if everything I plan to do, goes to plan, then I can pretty consistently score in the top 3. It's when people aren't where you expect them that fucks you over lol.1 point -
The laser itself should be fine. Usually though from the "cheaper" ones though is that they sometimes lack a large range of adjustability to zero in the laser to the gun.1 point

Yeah, don't even entertain the notion of buying an 800mah battery, you'll have used it all before the end of the second game. Even I could never make 800mah last me a day and I carried less than 500 shots into each game with me, if you're going to be using multiple high caps and using full auto, you're simply not going to get even half a day out of it.1 point -

Importing Parts From Asia

It counts as two things: 1. You bring items through customs as your own, with your name on parcel to your address 2. you sell those parts to him in the UK. If he chooses to manufacture a RIF he does so on his own back, you do not commit an offence, he does (admittedly an unenforceable, victimless offence)1 point -

Airsoft-Ed reacted to BrightCandle for a topic
Its quite apparent Qlimax that this is entirely their fault, that they are lying about the sorts of checks they do and hence are not sufficiently defending their membership from scrutiny by the government if appropriate checks are done. You know its funny, we have had a lot of organisations blaming the whistleblower recently, seems to me these guys don't get it, when you get caught doing wrong its usually best to fix the darn problem rather than try and deflect at the whistleblower who exposed you. BAC is in the wrong here, it is not checking players sufficiently and no store should accept or sell to BAC members anymore as its impossible to determine if they really are Airsoft players. Its really that simple, its for them to fix it or disappear.1 point -
He only has to prove if the police come knocking and they are only gonna come knocking if he has used it in appropriately. Which by that point it wont matter where he got it. The law doesnt state how many times you have to have been to be a skirmisher. Also the vcra law is to do with the sale, importation and manufacture of rifs & ifs not the purchasing. This is why the ukara was set up to protect retailers. It is not illegal to buy a rif with out ukara or such like. Simply being a skirmisher is proof enough. Just difficult to prove. If an offence is commited they have to prove you commited an offence and that you sold it illegally. As sites recordbwho plays there then thst is enough proof. If his friend knows hes been to a skirmish then there is no offence commited as he has bought it for the intended use of skirmishinģ.1 point

No secret, just eBay. But it was American eBay on a couple of them which I sent to a mate there and he shipped, which works out a lot cheaper for various reasons. Between eBaying and lots of time looking on forum classifieds, combined with the patience necessary to wait for what you're after to pop up, you can save yourself a fortune. Still buy most stuff from retailers but when it comes to the really pricey gear like RS lights, optics, high end jackets etc you're much more likely to see the stuff you want come up for sale second hand, very often never/barely used. It's the expensive stuff that people are more likely to put the time and effort in to selling on because they can then free-up the funds in that item when needed and it's more 'worth' their time as it were writing up the ads and sales thread. If you wear a Large or XL in jackets for example you can deck yourself out thoroughly in Arc'teryx for not much more than 5.11 or even Helikon prices, there's tons of that stuff on the bay.1 point

Overpriced from a hobbyist perspective maybe, but they're not aimed at airsofters it just happens that some airsofters like to use real-world kit. As evidenced above it's not like you even need to pay retail price, I paid less than 50% of the MSRP for all 4 of my SF lights, which if anything makes them underpriced for the quality quite frankly.1 point -
