  2. i finally managed to make it to RIFTs newest site this weekend, The Battery. as i knew it was going to be a CQB site, i decided my primary weapons for the day were going to be my new KWA Beretta M93r, my KWA GBB Skorpion and my John Wick hicappa and TM Lycoris Recoil pistols as my backups (alternating between primary and secondary throughout the day) but i took a couple of long guns such as my Tippmann in case they were needed, but ended up sticking with the short guns all day. i had purchased a bunch of mags for the m93 through RIFTs own shop, White Sphere Tactical, and arranged to pick them up on site... so once signed in it was off to collect the mags, bring kit into the indoor safezone. standard fare for chrono, but due to the CQB, ammo weight was limited to .28g. first game was team balancer and found that blue team was overly powerful, so as a lone wolf i got swapped onto red team with a handful of other players to balance the teams a little more. game modes through the day were all 30 min games with quick breaks in between for reloading, which wasnt an issue due to the relatively small size of the site. game modes included capturing ammo cans to HQ, moving a gas cylinder "bomb" to three capture points and capturing flag points around the site. TBH, not knowing the site, i was more focussed on just getting kills for the first half of the day, but i did help out with the objectives later in the day once i got more familiar with the site and my new guns. one thing i really need to look into is how to mount tracer units on the skorpion and M93, as these would DEFINATELY have helped in the indoor sections. i did have a bit of an oopsie moment (which i managed to turn to a win)... at one point a blue player was hiding behind some corrugated steel barricades at the bottom end of one of the yards, so i decided to charge the location, laying down fire with the m93 to keep the enemys head down as i crossed the open spaces. as i moved, the m93 gassed out (i think i reloaded the mag, but forgot to gas it.. oops..) so i quickly took the m93 in my left hand and drew my JW hicappa as i reached the barricade... where i hit a patch of mud, slipped over, fell into the barricade and as i slid past the edge of the barricade, managed to snap 2 shots off at the blue player, taking him out... after getting helped up, quickly checking my gear and fist bumping the blue player, i decided to call myself out to go and check my injuries and thoroughly inspect the guns and fortunately found the barrels were clear, so i was soon back out. and i was running a gopro on my helmet for the first time, so i might have caught my little fall on tape... in the process of downloading the footage as i type this message, so i should know in a few minutes.... EDIT i did indeed capture the incident on tape... https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/u1nsfc6n375ex1rm5ynb2/oopsie.mp4?rlkey=2rwbhjnlc7tm7ecp69fuvh75f&st=1sdak9fk&dl=0

  7. Well, yesterday at Red Alert was our 4th, and final, Battlesim in the Vukodlak war story line. The past three years Vukodlak forces have been victorious. Having played for Vukodlak in previous years, this year I decided to marshal which, as with many battlesims, meant playing as a civilian/quest giver. I spiced it up by playing as a pirate. I was giving out quests to find my lost parrot. There were 3 inflatable parrots hidden about the site, but I had drawn an eye patch on one, and in my quest spiel I mentioned that Polly only had one eye. If they brought back the parrot with the eye patch they got a reward. I also had a bottle of grog, which got hidden, and there was a reward if they brought me "alcohol". The main objective of the day was to find all the items needed to arm a rocket, and then launch it. The rocket is something I've been building recently, but kept off of social media so it would be a surprise for the players on the day. There were two nose cones, one for each team, a round one and a pointy one (pointy is scary). Other civilians had other quests. The drug dealers were selling bags of stuff, for in game currency. This could be handed in to the sheriffs for a reward, or bartered with other npcs. There was the Hobo wandering the site with his wheelbarrow full of junk, but underneath the junk was a laptop that contained the launch codes. Driving around in his pickup was the arms dealer. He would sell you weapons that you could plant on any unarmed civilians you may have shot, and thereby avoid a war crime. 😉 The Camels wanted water, mostly... Some civilians were mercs, that would fight for a team for short time, if paid well. At the end of the day Vukodlak were victorious AGAIN, despite some excellent play from the Calladian forces. It was a bloody marvellous day, that ended with both teams wearing massive grins and swapping stories over a beer. So roll on 2025, for a whole new story for our next battlesim! Unfortunately a lot of people had already gone home before we took the last photo after debrief.

Don't do it... you obviously don't know what type/style of pew you like, try as many aeg's as you can first or you'll be spending a fortune to only regret the purchase & we'll/I'll end up offering you 60-70% what you paid when it ends up in the classifieds. If that's not the answer you want to hear go onto youtube and watch as many gbbr video's as you can. If you do buy a GBBR, get a Calico, CZ Scorpion, L85A2 or a G3 etc coz I don't have one of these yet.

  16. Lambda Defence with SD kit, Marayama and Archwick GBB's. On Vorsk 6 gas and using .2g BB's we get 340 FPS on the Lambda, 320 on the Archwick and 315 on the Marayama. The Lambda is the softest shooting and could do with some beefier bolt return springs and it's a bit underwhelming to fire. If you are after quality and performance then get the Archwick as it's outstanding. I tried it with 0.3g's and it had no issues lifting them and the hop still had more life in it and I think it probably could do 0.36g BB's out the box. If the straight mag version is what you want, but on a budget, them Marayama are (or already have) releasing a straight mag version with the spare mags around £25 overseas which is about 1/2 the price of the Archwick mags but sadly I doubt they will be compatible between GBB's. Oh and the Lambda magwell is annoying as VFC and Raven mags can move forwards and backwards, sometimes releasing a little gas, which is a bit annoying. Some sticky backed foam inside the magwell will sort it.

  17. Saturday we had a full day private party booking, a video gaming community that has grown up around a youtube review channel, and get together to play airsoft once a year. They are online acquaintances, some of whom had never met in real life before. Some had their own kit some rented. I have to say, they were brilliant to marshal for. The mood all day was fantastic, there was not one single complaint about hit calling, in fact quite the opposite: In the last minute of one game a player grabbed the objective and made an heroic sprint. Afterwards i overheard an opfor player say: "I'm pretty sure I saw my shots bouncing off you" And I thought, uh oh, here we go. But he followed up with: "But sometimes when you're running like that you just don't feel it". Why aren't all airsofters like him these days? Sunday I managed to play, instead of marshaling for a change. One of my closest friends has been out of the game for months, and came back yesterday, so I was glad to be out there with him, and we had a great time. Ran my TM MWS for a few games, and my Secutor (well, the exterior is) DMR for a few. We got absolutely SPANKED by the red team, but had fun in the process. A couple of the MWS mags were gassing out on the first round, so I'll need to sort that out, but overall a great day. Photo title: "Oooh, shoots you sir!"

  18. Oh myyy......😍 I haven't been following this, but I'm gonna go back and find details! Anyway... This isn't that exciting when it comes to gun pictures, but I'm a happy boy and had to share. Last year I gave a friend my cheapy Cyma SVD, for servicing and upgrading. Then life got in the way. I got a rotator cuff injury, he lost his driving licence (illness, not booze), and what with one thing and another he's had it ever since. On Sunday I got it back. Full steel rack piston, 110 spring, different piston head, new hop rubber, hop nub, new set of bushings for the gears, combat union hop. Its kicking .3s out around 1.4 to 1.5 joules. I'm on site tomorrow, to continue with our site overhaul, and I'll be giving her a real test for range. Now all I need is an SVD sling.

  19. Everyone, I am sure has heard of the Vortex warranty. Well, it's just awesome! I know it's only a little thing, but I lost my elevation turret cap in a game. Haven't thought about it until it's come time to sell the scope. Popped them an email and they're sending a replacement out the same day I spoke to them! Now that is good customer service. I've got Vortex on all my main rifles, for good reason 😄

So, I haven't shared this yet despite having it sat around for a few months. For context this was a boneyard A&K Masada/ACR. When I got it, the exterior of the rifle was scuffed, chipped and dented beyond belief and the previous owner had even super glued rails to the handguard. Instead of fixing the ambi fire selector properly, they had also super glued the fire selector on which I've since fixed. Since it was already destroyed externally I decided to go the absolute opposite way of what I normally go for, so I went with the brightest colours I could think of. Is it cursed? I think I actually prefer it to the standard look of most of my RIFs.

  35. A logistical dilemma caused by the convergence of the last rehearsal before our 25th Birthday gig and the London Marathon means that I am spending tonight in a Premier Inn in Woking. However, every cloud has a silver lining, so this seemed like a good opportunity to spend the afternoon at Driver Wood, a site about which I have heard and read a lot but have never visited. So, this morning, in addition to my video mixer, projector, video loops etc, I loaded my airsoft gear into the car, including the lad's C7, which I had done some work on last Saturday evening as it seemed to have lost power. Arriving at Driver Wood was a bit of a culture shock; there were paintballers, kids' parties, airsoft beginners' sessions and about 60 airsofters. This actually seemed like a proper business! Checking in was straightforward; I got my wristband and I was in. I found a table, chatted to the players on the next table, one of whom admired the C7, and chrono'd the C7 (1.04J and great range). The safezone was well organised, clean and had WiFi! The only negative aspect was a number of signs stating that no food or drink could be brought in. I then sorted my own stuff out, remembering to ensure that barrel socks were in use in the safezone, chrono'd my rifle and pistol, and set off for balancing of teams, distribution of us afternoon arrivals to teams and a mercifully short but complete safety and rules brief. Immediately after this, we set out for the game zone, passing various areas full of kids having great fun shooting paint and BBs at each other. The first game of the afternoon involved collecting a downed pilot, getting them on to a stretcher and transporting them to one of the helicopters. Each side had a stretcher and, if the two players carrying it were killed, they had to drop it; the opposing team could then try to prevent them recovering it but could not steal it. However, if the pilot was on it, they could transfer him to their stretcher if it could be brought alongside. I teamed up with a few players who decided to try to work around into the enemy's left flank and rear; this went rather well until we encountered an enemy force who had decided to try to work around into our right flank and rear. This resulted in some great fights; I found a spot in a ditch under a bush from where I could control the convergence of two paths that the enemy were using; it was what WW2 U-Boat crews called a Happy Time; a target rich environment and a hidden Colin with a very accurate rifle. Ultimately, as for the U-Boat crews, the Happy Time ended and I was sunk. Regenning, I encountered the two chaps from the table next to mine and we fought our own little war against a group of enemy who were continuing to try to push into our team's tactical rear, holding them off until the end of the game, which our side won, getting the stretcher and pilot into the helicopter after a stand off. Hurrah! After a short break, we started the second game of the afternoon; a three point domination. The targets were the green tent, the six wheeler and one of the helicopters; whoever controlled each of them at every 10 minute interval got a point . I have no idea what happened at the six wheeler or the helicopter, as I was solely involved around the green tent, which the enemy grabbed at the start of the game. This was a really good action, with people flanking all over the place, hiding in bushes, and generally popping up where they were least expected. Despite us pushing hard, the enemy held the green tent for most of the game, with us only capturing it for the very last point. My first impressions of Driver Wood are positive, despite the signs about not bringing your own food and drink. The playing area reminded me somewhat of Battle Lakes, albeit without that site's bottlenecks and choke points. I will definitely be going back. After the game, I stopped off at Surplus Store UK in Crawley, with the possible intention of buying a JG T3 SAS. However, the size, or rather the lack of size, of its battery compartment, put me off. Armband watch: Bright green (I thought they were yellow!) and purple. Weapons used: SRC T-91 ASG Commander XP18 (CO2)

  36. I am grateful to all the people who contributed with helpful answers. Thanks to their advice, I decided to approach one of the retailers and explain my situation to them via email. Fortunately, the Airsoft retailer responded positively, allowing me to send the required photos ( My airsoft pictures ) This is excellent news for me as I can now avoid purchasing a second-hand or two-tone airsoft gun. I am delighted to have received such a warm and friendly response from everyone on this platform. I hope to find the same camaraderie and guidance on the airsoft field as well. live in Henley-on-Thames and have recently moved here. I have two options to choose from Highwycome and Reading. I plan to give both a try and hopefully find my ideal team in the UK for a long-term. @RorySending RIFs to Europe via airplanes is a viable option. However, it can be challenging to send them to the UK for non-citizens. I have attempted to send them myself, but I encountered several diplomatic demands via email that made it difficult to proceed. Perhaps there are alternative ways but we dont know yet.

  39. So a while ago I started to build a hk21e machinegun based on a jg g3 but the gun was a bit screwed and I made a bit of a hash of upgrading it so That rather killed my motivation for working on that. I recently sold off that gun as part of my process of swapping entirely to gbbrs. Having watched a few explosive enterprises vids I decided to give this another go. This time the base gun is a we gbb g3. It came to me with the barrel shortened and Ive just picked up a proper hk21e style clubfoot stock for it. Im planning to model and print most of the bits for it in plastic and then send them off to be done in aluminium when im finished. This is just the first step. 1 new sight block that just sits on the cocking tube and dosent go down to the barrel. 2 front handguard cap with a block hidden under it which bolts to the handguard pinhole to keep everything rigid 3 a sleeve to go over the barrel to give it the proper machinegun profile. I have sanded and painted this bit since the proper barrel is tapered and making one of these in metal would be a pain. will probably leave it plastic. It just screws onto the outer barrel nut and gets pinned in place by the flash hider. next up is to make the rear handguard cap and order some steel or aluminium tube to make the actual handguard. Ill be building a pinhole into the rear handguard cap where the belt feed mechanism attaches. This would normally be on the reciever instead of the magwell but Im trying to make this in a way which requires as little modification to the base gun as possible. Once the belt feed assembly is made ill be making a box mag to slot onto it, fitting the guts of a 249 box in there, hpa tapping the original mag and drilling a hole in the front for bbs to feed in from a spring tube. Im not really a fan of hpa but for a gbb lmg like this its simply the best option.

All genuine kit besides the PRC-148 radio as the genuine ones are encrypted and restricted. The M4 is still a work in progress as I’d like to add some more genuine parts to it. I’ll then post that on the gun pic thread. The base uniform is the CCU Close Combat Uniform in 3 colour desert. These were trialed between 2003-04 by the 2nd ID and 25th ID SBCT in Iraq along with some 173rd AB.
