Fogging and glasses
Ian Bru and 5 others reacted to Dogsbody100 for a topic
In what seems to be a right of passage in the airsoft world, I have grown to hate with a passion the spectre of fogging. Being a little unfit, quite fat and therefore prone to producing vast quantities of heat and moisture, it has driven me to try and find my own solution much as I imagine many others have too. My somewhat unique difference is that I wear glasses as in ESS ICE ballistic glasses and not goggles as many others do, this has meant that all the solutions that I've seen are tailored to those and not glasses. I also don't run a helmet of any kind just a DPM bucket hat so I found myself even farther from convention. Many things got an audition, from the 50p antifog wipes in the shop at AP (not terrible but very short lasting) to buying a battery powered fish tank pump and some tubing (chinesium crap and failed badly). Now, many will no doubt recognise Novritsch as a marmite figure but I noticed he had the catchily named 'anti fog unit' available, this seemed to offfer an attachment that was usually placed on goggles and magnetically snapped into the tube allowing the hat to come off but the eye pro stays on. It was at that moment I had a bit of an A-TEAM moment, if this piece could be bonded in the right place maybe it could be adapted for glasses? The pictures below will hopefully demonstrate where I went with this, the velcro is simply stapled and double sided taped into place while the adapter got bonded onto the glasses with a smidge of 2 part 3M Scotchweld that definitely didn't come from work at all. Ever. The upshot is that as I place the hat on my head the tubes and the adaptor 'finds' the one on the glasses and very satisfyingly snaps into them. It looked and felt ok but did it work? Yes, surprisingly, my recent visit to Apocalypse with their marathons games was a good test and the battery lasted all day even though the indicator light showed red it kept going. Even if it didn't I could have used a power bank to top it up. Just a little bit of hopefully useful info for you all if you use glasses like me. Cheers!6 points -

I've a Bifrost, from a tracer perspective you're looking at red or green BBs. It's the muzzle flash that's RGB etc and it illuminates any BB's / gasses as they leave the barrel but your BB will be either red or green. What a tracer is doing is subjecting your BB to UV light to activate the elements in the BB that make it glow, the colour is down to the BB itself. It's doing this as it the BB passes through the unit. You've then got the LED's at the front of your unit, which is the muzzle flash. This is independent of the tracer and is just a bit of fun really and is where you can choose colours etc.3 points

I did think it would but once the hat is pulled onto my fat head it stays there, the hoses move quite a bit too being unattached past where they pass through the material2 points -
Find one that isn't yours nor the site's, you'll have a pretty good measure of which one is busted. If you're in the market for a new one, then you may look at the Acetech 5000, it's essentially the good ol' Xcortech mk3200 but in a different casing and with a few more functions.2 points

Did you chrono on 0.28s at home? Some guns do lose an awful lot of energy by switching to heavier BBs2 points

I've done something very similar, but with the exfog and for sniping with a full-face veil. https://www.instagram.com/p/C4atDp7t3gB/?igsh=MWhvMThnb2d2OXNkaQ== I've got a couple of different Setups, be it for glasses or goggles, with different mounting styles. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7wodvjtlL2/?igsh=eWpoZWN5NjJpY2lq2 points -

As fas as I’m aware, tracer beebs only come in either red or green, they are illuminated by uv led’s in the tracer unit I think the Bifrost has rgb flash at the exit allowing you lgbt colours at the muzzle (doesn’t do rainbow coloured tracer effect though)2 points -
I think it's just multi coloured flame effect from the front facing leds.2 points

I also have an old SA-A03, they were OEM'd by E&C so their receivers should fit ok. https://www.firesupport.uk/replacement-parts.html?manufacturer=943&product_types=7552 points

CYMA MP5 has died of death after motor adjustment - any ideas?
gavinkempsell reacted to pyromancer6 for a topic
Fully open to taking the thing apart - was going to upgrade the compression and do the usual ak2m4 goodies like I did with the UTR & M733 that I'm currently working on, just wanted a second opinion on the things that it could be (appreciate the input on the profile post and here btw) so I could order them without ordering extra things I might not need in the end. Will give that a try though - moving the gears manually to see where it gets stuck might indicate what's actually causing the lock-up1 point -

Its an older G+G mp5 AEG. Yeah, i've seen the gbb pistols i have cause havoc with the chrono. too close and its snorting gas, giving all sorts of weirdness off. I shall endeavour to find a new one and test them back to back, i think.1 point

There are many factors Try two chronos against each other for multiple shots The angle and proximity of a chronograph can get different results If you’re using a gas based system then changes can occur with ambient temperature and also the rate of fire / length of refresh time between shots Different types of chrono can get different results, even two of the same type/model may show a different result Chronographs try to measure the velocity of distance vs time, and where applicable Airsoft chronographs add the extra step of converting velocity to energy based on the entered weight / mass1 point

Obliterated, available on Netflix. The premise: a super-special-spy-forces team catches a badman with a suitcase nuke in Las Vegas, goes partying to celebrate, then are suddenly called back on duty when it turns out the real snuke is still out there. The execution: balls-and-cocks-and-boobs to the wall gloriously unapologetic drink-and-drug fuelled amoral uncensored scatological fun that has a great time playing with the genre tropes and character archetypes, edging fnar on parody. I mean, main guy is called "Chad McNight", and their inexperienced Tech Girl is "Maya Lerner". I put off watching this for ages because it looked so dumb that I assumed I'd hate it, but it turns out that "Don't think about it, just crack open a beer or four and enjoy it with us" is the whole point. Does it make sense? Not a bit. Is it funny? Eh, sort of. Can the cast act? Just barely, but wow, they're committed to it, and easy on the eye. Is the gunplay or fighting realistic in any way? Oh, no, not at all. But if sub-plots like "We need to find some hookers, because they'll have meth to wake up Bomb Guy from a ketamine coma" appeals, fill your boobs. I mean, boots.1 point

Outstanding, that magnetic attachment looks like a great idea. Much better than my DIY fan goggles solutions where I just shove the tube in a hole cut in the side. Oh, even better, the Ex-Fog couplers can be bought separately, for anyone wanting to bodge up their own system. https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/exfog-universal-magnetic-goggle-adapters-set-of-21 point -

TM Akm gbbr Condition is good with marks here and there which I have tried my best to picture Gun shoots and cycles like a dream, gas efficiency and accuracy is great. It has the bav tac magic numb light so it can hop up to .36, this little mod greatly boosts the range of the akm. It also comes with the bav tac power down valves to get rifle down to site limits, one is currently installed. Comes with 5 extra magazines , so 6 in total all gas tight. Great gun, reason that I'm selling is that I prefer the AR platform and I would have to spend a lot on handguards and rails to configure to my play style Price including delivery and fees is 630 and sell for 600 collected£630

What have you just 3d printed (for airsoft)
Justjay1986 reacted to MorganL for a topic
I've started hitting the prints since starting this sport and also love 3D Printing. Started off with a Molle Case for my phone looked at some on Cult and thingiverse and well I have access to bigger toys so went with a 3D printed case & a Titnaium protective plate on the front with an adjustable Aluminium carrier to clip it to the molle band, I'll probably tweak the rear plate to take some weight out of it its fairly overkill at the moment lol, still in the trial and error stage though so tweaks to follow. Have also printed BB canisters, funnels, speed loader adapters all the usual stuff, batter boxex, pistal case, and probably over 50 of the banger grenades :).1 point -

djben9 reacted to GenuineGerman for a topic
There are few things I don’t compromise on one is tyres on my car and the other is eye pro. I would say spend as much as you can afford on decent eye pro. We can’t grow them back and fogging is much preferred to blindness, might sound dramatic but it I wouldn’t risk it. I use military eye pro and been hit in the glasses a fair few times and glad I spent the dosh.1 point -
