The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread

Saturday a bunch of us went to a filmsim day at Gunman Eversley Alpha. I'd never been before, but most of my group had, several times. It was a very fun experience. The site is approximately 66 acres, with various POIs, like small village areas, "the wall" which is like the front of a Fort, bunkers etc, but for the most part it is tracks between very dense, very tall rhododendron bushes. Like 15 feet high bushes EVERYWHERE. So, you have two options: Walk the paths and end up potentially blundering into a firefight. Or. Crouch/ crawl through the less dense parts, sneaking around a lot. We mostly opted for the latter, with great results. The main objectives of the day were the three bomb sites, with the usual bomb devices that can be captured by a team and then start counting off how long they've been held by that team. Only the designated team engineers, four per side, can capture the bombs. Medic rules were a two minute bleed out, but anyone can medic you in with a 10 count within that 2 minutes. You can crawl to a friendly to be mediced, but if you're shot again during the crawl you're dead. I had a really fun day, this being the first time I've played anywhere other than Red Alert in a couple of years, and the incredibly dense foliage, with high humidity, lead to a very strategic, slow paced and sneaky day, interspersed with moments of utter chaos as fans met shit. I was REALLY glad I put my camelback on my rig again! Marshaling was great, the brief was short, to the point and well presented. The on site kitchen did EXCELLENT burgers at a very reasonable price. Apparently Gunman Alpha only runs once a month, doing these special events on a Saturday, while their Beta site, just around the corner, is the usual Sunday skirmish. I'll definitely be going along next month for another filmsim day, although I need to borrow some stuff as it's a nam event, with kit restrictions. If you're close enough to Eversley I'd check them out. And then Sunday I marshalled at Red Alert as usual. Bloody lovely day, great sun, only one incident of "he's not taking his hits!" (He was). We had a father and son who usually play at another, infamous, site come try red alert, and they had a great time, though I think they were surprised by the rules 😉 I joined in one game in the morning, but all the crouch walking through the bushes on Saturday had taken its toll on my right achilles tendon, so I went back to marshaling. The ankle is strapped up today. Nothing too bad, but better safe than sorry, especially as I'm off to a music festival this weekend. So yeah, go to Gunman Eversley (and obviously Red Alert 🤪)5 points -

Have they sent you notification that it has been seized? It may take a while to get you if they have. How long has it been stuck? If they have seized it and the FPS is not written on the box, they may chrono test it (Which they have done in the past) and destroy it if it fails the chrono or if they see that it says 390 FPS anywhere on the packaging or the documents they will destroy it without testing, there is also a slight possibility that you will be fined and/or prosecuted (it's written into the law, but there has been no known precedent that I am aware) They will not send it back if it's a section 5 firearm, they will only destroy it. Why on earth did you order it without getting the retailer to lower the velocity? Why import a section 5 firearm? Do you have a UKARA number? (It won't help so much, but just curious). As with anything, the onus is on the buyer, not the seller to know. The seller cannot possibly know the local laws of every country, but the buyer should definitely know the law of their own country. The buyer would lose the dispute.3 points -

I honestly don't know if I've watched all the 'new' ones but IV, V & VI are still my favourites, probably more to do with nostalgia than the quality of the films tho. Was on a school trip to London when A New Hope was premiered in the UK... begged for Stormtrooper figures for Xmas and never go a single one (took me 40+ years to find out there were none at the time). I'm adamant I saw some in Harrods which was impossible/improbable.2 points -

yep you did put your phone number up, sorry I didn't contact you through that. All's well that ends well. So to all who read the thread, massive misunderstanding, Chris did, right at the start give me his phone number which I complete forgot about! I am a dullard! Still it great to see the community come forward to help, I guess it one of the reasons I still play airsoft as I slide into my old age. Chris, thank you for understanding.2 points

Peter207 sorry buddy I don't Airsoft anymore haven't a long time, sold you a rif and forgot all about it, had no idea there was any issues until I logged on here this morning after getting a message elsewhere and saw your messages, I'm sorry the rid didn't get to you buddy, it been so long I will have binned any receipts but I'm happy to refund you no issues at all. I did ask you to contact me by phone but you didn't want to give me your number it would have been much easier if you had for contact, infact I gave you my direct phone number? Why didn't you simply call me?.. seems there was a much simpler and easier way to deal with this than this post. Next time pick up the phone. Edit: refund sent, if you rif turns up keep it with my regards. On another note, don't use f&f to pay for goods online, not everyone is as honest as me.2 points -

A reluctant sell but needs must. Bought this off this forum last year and only used once since then. Only changes I have done the switch to deans and had the A3 handguard installed by Bomb Up Airsoft. It does have electric blowback an currently disconnected, but can be switched back. I will leave on the rail piece on the handguard. Will say you will need a either a small lipo battery 11.1v battery or a PEG box as the A3 handguard is slim an battery space is tight. Also, it does take PMAGS but again they are tight so will need to be pushed an pulled in firmly. Made a slight mod to my mags and this makes reloading a little easier (see pics). Otherwise it is completely stock internally. Has a working bolt hold open to access the hop up. Has some wear an tear in places but nothing too glaring. It will come the box that has the other bits for A3 rail, they are only cosmetc an don't effect the operation. Also got the original parts like the carry handle, front sights and the handguard if you wanted to switch back. Reduced to 300 including P+P via PayPal and be sent by Royal Mail. Open to offers. If you have any questions then let us know 🙂£300

As the OP is attending a reenactment event I'm not sure import laws would apply. Is it an official organised event? If so then take the paperwork with you to show if you get stopped at the border. I'm sure you probably know this next bit but I'm going to post it anyway, make sure the replica is in a box, preferably locked, rather than loose in your bag1 point -

... they are probably chronoing it. I think they will see that it is just a genuine mistake and might try their best to let it slide, e.g. dial up the hop up and using different weight or brand BBs so it passes chrono without them having to do any more paperwork. I am just guessing of course.1 point -

https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/firearms#a03 I don't think you need to worry too much, especially if it hasn't even found its way to you yet. Given it is just a small technical contravention (an 8% is arguably within margin of error) they might let it slide, or just seize it and then give you a talking and ask for your UKARA just to make sure. But how would they even know the joules? They wouldn't know unless your RIF declaration form says it is over 1.3J and raising a flag...1 point -

I'm not sure what holster you have, but maybe physically chop the gun to remove most of the material not visible when it is holstered, and then work out a way of retaining the visible remnants inside the holster- a few stitches or epoxy? Still not a garunteed hassle free solution though....1 point -

I'll be totally unbiased and say "go VC/NVA because it's cheaper and more flexible to get the kit and it's more fun!", totally not because I will be there as VC and I believe Mr. @Tactical Pith Helmet will be as well. At the last one I almost walked across the fields to the Bravo site because I heard airsoft noises in that direction while I was sneaking about. Fortunately I turned back because I also suspected I could've been heading off-site. At least I didn't have any guns on me because I was roleplaying a civvie with a radio so if I did wander off and bump into someone I would't have anything worrying on me But yes, I agree with everything you said about Gunman. Top site and top blokes running it. Also, don't suppose you would know if they had enacted their sniper ban at Eversley yet? I suspect they have done so or will do so soon, as during the summer they tend to have a sniper ban due to lines of sight being restricted (I find it amusing because it's nowhere near as rough as Worthing!). I'll still be bringing my bolt action, but it'd be good to know if I should be setting it for 1.1J or 2.3J.1 point -

Have you tried a different type of BBs? Certain brands don't go well with certain hop up configurations. Additionally have you tried a different type of magazine? It can be quite frustrating messing around with your aeg, if the problem area is your mags or ammunition.1 point -
Legally the importer is held liable for what is crossing inwards through a border. There may be no comeback on the retailer unless the buyer highlighted the requirement for UK legal specifications or the overseas retailer advertised the availability of UK specifications Many things could happen: The package sits for a while then processes through An import VAT charge is raised against the importer, plus handling charges A RIF declaration & Defence are requested The power is checked / identified Failure to pass the processes can result in destruction or return If very lucky it comes through If slightly lucky it is rejected but returned, and you get refunded - a restocking charge may occur1 point

To be fair, who would imagine that to be the case? I mean, it's just a plastic pellet toy, and people play with higher energies in much of the world. Bear in mind that the 57A airsoft definition is "a missile (of any kind)", not what you intend to use in it. Guns prone to Joule creeping (HPA, some gas, full piston / short barrel AEGs) might turn out to be Sections 5s, if the tools of the State were to drop a 0.86g steel BB in there.1 point

[Cross posted] Have you received any firearms declaration or exemption forms yet? I ask because, strictly speaking, something capable of over 1.3J and auto fire is a Section 5 (1) (a) prohibited firearm, as daft as that sounds. Since you haven't received it yet, you could file a dispute with the seller or your payment processor. That would be a bit of a dick move, but on the other hand, a commercial seller should know fine well that it's a no-no to send a 1.4J autogun into the UK to begin with. If you do get a knock on the door or a nastygram from Border Force or the police, say nothing, admit to nothing, and get legal advice. Firearms convictions are no joke.1 point

Case layout
MistakenMexican reacted to Herr Eagle for a topic
Oh how I hate cases as I have been through a number of them trying to find the right combination, Cinderella had it easy! Would highly recommend the nuprol line if cases, nice value and quality and eggshell foam as it's just more versatile though doesn't look as good. I like to use a couple of 2" velcro strips to secure the foam into the cases. Not had it come away before and allows you to remove as needed (I store cleaning rods behind mine). For pnp foam I would suggest a can of plasti dip to toughen it up. The shadow foam is pretty neat, a bit more tricky to get set up but will be nicer than pnp foam. The base fitted nuprol case perfectly but the lid was off and eventually just chucked it and kept eggshell for that bit. If you want a custom style case & still want the ability to change it now and again then you really need to go with the magpul daka system, either in a pelican vault or magpul daka case. Let's you play around with it and reconfigure it in a few minutes. Downside is the sheer cost of it, essentially looking at £500 per case, but allows you to store and travel with changing load outs. I did have a look at retrofitting it into a nuprol case but would require silly levels if modification and unlikely to fit well-just need a company to mimic it 🙄 The Shadow foam in nuprol case, completed layout (top foam removed in the end) Pelican vault with Daka insert (this pic was taken after I got it and not finished at time of picture)1 point -

Out at MAW with the new unrestricted nozzle with npas fitted. It needed a dremmel to fit as the bolt carrier was glued together. But now it works fine. Locks back reliably and the fire rate on auto has improved. Secondly, 5 second gas fill on the 20 rounders gets 60+/- shots, so I was over filling the first time round. Might change the hop rubber at some point, but stock performance is acceptable1 point

bottom half of the belt feed mech is getting there though I still need to build in a way to attach the box mag / mag adapter. Still tweaking the hpa adapter but it now only seems to leak from the bolt holes, the top half is entirely sealed so it may just be a matter of getting a metal one so I can better seal the threads. Decided for the vn mags ill be mounting it so they come in at an angle just below the feed ramp on the side so that the hanging belt can hide the end of it. should also mean I can get lower to the ground. I had a beaten up old tm g3 bipod and the hk21e bipod seems to use the same latch mechanism so i just chopped it a little shorter and made a new block for the top of it so it can slide into the handguard caps.1 point -

Pulse Rifle
HutchBelfast reacted to Nick G for a topic
As my GBBR pulse rifle build seems to be of interest to a few I thought I'd do a build thread sort of thing. Bear with me , I dont do 'tech' so the order of posts and pictures might well be a bit random ! I'm starting with a WE Thompson that I've been gifted. It's seen better days and came a cropper when an hpa experiment went very wrong, however I should be able to sort it given time. The upper reciever has cracked in a couple of places so I've ordered a replacement. Untill that arrives i've done a very rough and ready strengthening job with some scrap angle ally. Looks a bit frankenstein, but will hold the upper together for now which means I can crack on and get everything mocked up then fit the repacement when it's in pieces for final prep and paint. What I started with Snow Wolf body kit, there are lots of bits in the box ! Very basic strengthening job to hold the upper together for now. You can just see the cracks. The puls rifle outer barrel mounts via an aluminium adapter, on the aeg this also mounts onto the hop unit extension. The holes on the side of the block take M3 bolts that also secure the front brackets to the body. I plan to drill and tap the botom of the block and secure it to the handguard extension on the tommy to help support everything although it seems pretty robust just bolted to the body. In order to hold the hop unit and inner barrel into the GBBR upper I chopped the mounting lug off the spare barrel that came with the Thompson. This them mounts and secures the hop / inner in the standard fashion. If I had access to a lathe I would have shortened and turned down the outer so it would fit the mounting block in the way the aeg one does.1 point -
