You really do have a Napoleon complex, running a site isn't a guarantee of fuck all, many do it, some quite badly. What really interests me is that you feel critical of this forums attitude, yet it's probably the most active & well respected forum existing in the UK currently, at its very large core are members with decades of experience in all aspects of airsoft, most of whom play regularly at numerous sites around the UK & further afield, yet this 5 page thread that's been going July 2023, not one bona fide airsofter has stepped forward & mentioned playing your site, which leads me to believe that, all your bluster aside, other than the occasional noob maybe, your empire is relegated to kids parties & stag do's, all hoping for the genuine survival experience lol🤣. At the moment no one is taking you or your site seriously, no one has said they want to see it fail, just clarity on your rules & how they're presented publicly. But here, if anyone makes statements that are incorrect, bordering absurd, they'll be called out on the science involved by those who know. You could have accepted it as constructive criticism, maybe even asked for further clarification or advice, but you went all "I'm the boss" & dug your heels in. All you've really done is damage reputation of yourself & your site within the Airsoft community 😒3 points

All i see is you explaining that joule creep is a thing that exists. Now granted that is a cut above many sites but that's more an indictment of how low the bar is than anything else. What i don't see is why you've chosen to use a lower energy limit and chrono on 0.2's, rather than use the players in-game weight, the weight that they'll actually be firing at their fellow humans. The purpose after all is to ensure safety and fairness of gameplay. Yes for a jc susceptible gun you will expect to see it firing below the limit when using a lighter weight than it's been setup for but your scheme doesnt account that every pew is different. the joule creep on a speedsofter spec m4 with a barrel length measured in microns, is not going to be doing the same thing as a full length dragonuv. Depending on this your method means any hpa is either going to be disadvantaged because it doesnt creep enough to match its aeg brethren, or creep too much leaving the aeg players disadvantaged. To say nothing of the gbbr players who, intentionally or not, could be laying the smack down on their fellow players. So that begs the question- why choose this route? To the external observer, the most likely reason it's because it's easier to implement than to take the 10 minutes or so making a strip of paper with the relevant fps equivalent limit for each common bb weight, tape it to the chrono, and explain to the staff that they need to match number a with number b. And that leads to the unfortunate implication, which imo is more important, that other aspects of site management are treated with equal apathy. Now this isn't a guarantee that the average game day isn't a fun time for all involved but it does imply that when a group of bad apples picks that day to roll up that it won't be dealt with effectively. Now that does sound bad, but please don't take it as me trying to insult you or the site, your policy whilst erroneous at least sounds like it's coming from the noble intention of wanting to do things properly. So why not take this as an opportunity to improve rather than dig in defensively? After all we all want the same thing- good sites with effective rules where you can rely on having a fun time.3 points -
I've played a fair bit of CQB and my local site initially tested only on 0.2's, but saw the error of their ways and now you test on the setup you plan to use. They'll pop a few BBs out of your mag to check the weight, they even have more than one chrono so no-one needs to faff about changing the BB weight settings. This leads to an efficient chrono and eliminates any joule creep issues as the game setup is the one that is measured rather than an inaccurate one set by the sites rules (which is a bit of an own goal tbh). I'm not a fan of HPA because a gunbilical cord isn't my thing, but from what I can make out the issues with HPA stem from either Joule creep due to testing inadequacies (see how my local site started out), or the operator willfully abusing the system and not being caught. In an ideal world everyone would understand joule creep and understand that if a site were testing on 0.2's then they would need to be under the limit if they were planning on using 0.3's. In an ideal world our honour system would enough to stop a post-chrono regulator tweak even being considered. But it's not an ideal world is it. At the end of the day, it's your site, your rules. Stoke's miles away from me and I'll probably never visit; I'm sharing my experiences and some thoughts on chrono and levelling the field. Do what you like, but I find simple rules are easier to understand, follow and police - 1.14j on the ammo you're using is all you need to say. Also, I can't believe no-one's mentioned shotguns in four pages! Are you really doing survival horror properly if you don't have a short-barreled shottie? 😁 All the best with the Seige though 👍3 points

I think in part my issues where done to me doing some maintenance. I have purchased new parts based on advice here however I couldn't change the cylinder\head as the ones I ordered didn't fit. It looks like I had an incorrectly fitted buckling too. After these changes I was firing at only around 280fps on my chrono (one from AK2m4) who has been really helpful too. I have now changed the spring to an m10 and this now has me around 325 fps on 0.2's I'm popping into my local Airsoft Store tomorrow as I need a new speed loader and will see if they can chrono it too. Thank you everyone for your advice. It has been really helpful.2 points

Ahoy and welcome. Which type of MP5 are you using at the moment? Just trying to get a feel for what you consider heavy or light. If you can find one, the plastic Galaxy MP5K (G5K) is comically light, while still being a surprisingly usable gun in CQB or woodland. if you're playing purely CQB, pistols are indeed usable as primaries. P90s are a decent shout, and p-chan is best chan.2 points

The pot calling the kettle black there. Yes, I read everything that you wrote; I tend to do that before responding to someone. You really don't get it do you? Your policy towards HPA is nonsensical and arbitrary. I and others have pointed out far more sensible approaches but you claim that we do not understand joule creep when we clearly do. If you are really that paranoid about joule creep, either chrono everyone on what they are using or on your maximum allowed weight and, if necessary, re-chrono HPA users again if you have concerns during the day. Why would anyone suggest chronoing on a weight you do not allow? You are just creating a strawman argument. Yes, it is almost as if he is making it up as he goes along.2 points -

Welcome to the glock rabbit hole! I myself am a glocklover and are trying to collect as many as possible, although I’m also trying to make them good to field. Also I’m a sucker for correct trades. So often I’m finding myself swapping slides and frames. As Jim states above I would also say that about 75% are available as airsoft versions. Be prepared to burn a big hole in your pocket.2 points -

I always find a good gbb handy in game and even go out of my way to use them sometimes, as they are just more fun 😎 I have had quite a few brands, stock and some heavily modified. Have now almost completely switched over the vfc umarexs series. Find them the best balance of performance/looks/trades. If you use the co2 models they are pretty reliable and I find it more convenient than gas.1 point -

Bought the S&T HK416 PDW with the idea of stealing the front end for my TM 416C recoil but sadly the rail doesn't fit. Since that meant I was keeping the S&T in one piece I binned the terrible PDW stock with a HK marked stock I had floating around and stuck on some HK iron sights as well. turns out it's quite a nice budget AEG.1 point -
What have you just 3d printed (for airsoft)
Egon_247 reacted to mightyjebus for a topic
did a couple of things 3D printer related. First up, as I'm an idiot I managed to break the stock catch on my Well PPK20. Well make the part replaceable but currently there aren't any parts available so I designed one and sent it off to be printed in aluminum. I got a few extras for when I'm an idiot again. Next up I printed some of the impact grenades in a luminescent filament I had floating around. and lastly I designed a ammo tin styled box for the impacts for no other reason that I wanted to use my laser cutter.1 point -

I can at least understand their logic. Refusing to chrono on 0.28s because it's apparently too confusing just.. it doesn't make sense. You chrono the 0.28s, you know people aren't joule creeping, you know what their power is. is done. is finished. No need to gimp a section of your players.1 point -

There you go again, making assumptions and attempting to belittle anyone who points out the incoherence of your approach and your responses. You really are making this up as you go along. Your original position was that the lower power limit only applied to HPA but now you are claiming that it has always included GBB, which is not borne out by the posts in this thread. Your credibility is disappearing faster the Rishi Sunak’s.1 point -

The NAF is not a milsim event...it may have kit restrictions. Depending on which team you sign up for. Have a look at cold war airsoft, these is a site near Newbury called Gunman that run regular film and milsim style events. Have a look at kit requirements there to give you a better idea. Some will even have hire kit.1 point -

I realise they are the site rules. I merely consider them asinine and arbitrary. The world doesn't owe you understanding. When you accuse people of lacking humility when they have taken the time to express their disagreement, you come across as sanctimonious at best. It's curious that when you said my response is "beyond logic", you said absolutely nothing to address my point about liability insurance. What else did you skip reading?1 point

Ok so you don’t understand the concept joule creep that’s ok. I’m sorry but your response is beyond logic. You have no understanding of why sites do what they do or are just plain ignorant or as I say again are just looking for an argument. If you can’t be humble enough to take the point and realise these are the site rules then I can’t help you.1 point -

I'll post up some more pics tomorrow in an off topic thread.... I have the larger novopress gun as we do light commercial/massive domestic so pipes can be up to 76mm. Smaller tools like REMS are fine for regular stuff up to 35mm (the pipes you see there). We did have a machine that did 108mm, but we hardly ever used it so gave it to a friend. Fittings are quite a bit more expensive in smaller sizes, but once you hit 35mm it actually starts to get cheaper. You do have to plan ahead though as you can easily plumb yourself into a corner that you can't get the tool into. REMs have some funky offset adapters and jaws which make getting into tight spaces and under floors easier. I just don't like the feel of the tool (it feels like it is going to break, even though it's fine). 42mm and above and you move into a sling-jaw set up which gets heavy and clunky, btu still a hell of a lot cheaper, quicker and cleaner that soldering/brazing. I also got a jaw for cutting threaded rod which is a total lifesaver. Geberit have replaced their shitty MEPLA system for the New Flo Fit and it's actually pretty good - two jaws for the whole range, and the smaller jaws go up to 40mm.1 point -
