I can just imagine it. Him sitting alone in his bedroom in his ghillie suit with his "Sniper", "Shooter" and "Enemy at the gates" posters on the walls, surrounded by empty KFC buckets, stroking his rifle and muttering "nasty, nasty. We will makes them sorry, won't we my precious?"4 points -

Are you planning on running it with a magnifier? If the answer is yes then a lower MOA would be a good idea. Equally at the kind of range we have with our pews, you'll need a much bigger MOA to totally obscure a target. Mostly it's preference though as let's face it, we're working with airsoft levels of accuracy and consistency and if the first shot misses there'll always be an element of walking it in. My red dot purchases have mainly been based on price, how it looks and whether it fits, I'll get it zero'd and functionally that means they are accurate enough for me but I (mostly) play indoors where there's no foliage, wind or rain - so you'd expect fairly decent accuracy/grouping. Outdoors my expectations are much lower and the dot's are useful in making sure I'm in the right ballpark. That said, I don't think I've looked through a 5MOA sight.2 points

I have come to the conclusion that years of drugs/drink/women has destroyed my knowledge of most things capacitor based other than how to charge up a big one with the legs bent round and chuck it to your mate... 😂 So, my hat is off to you sir, much respect for getting this far and good luck. Hope it pays off for you. 👍2 points

I bought one of these super-cheap scope mounts from Ant-Supplies (£9!), and it's doing a pretty good job with my old air rifle scope It could do with cantilevering a bit further forward, just an extra 3/4" would help with the eye relief from my natural position , but it's 'good enough'. (I suppose I could have the turrets in front of the forward ring, but I think that would look odd)1 point -

I would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and New Year. It's been an interesting, funny and,at times, fudal year of forum shannigins and banter which all makes afuk the place to be. As of now I am in Christmas mode and shall be donning the Santa apron and putting the Heineken hat on and staying up late.(10.30ish) lol. I shall probably go dark for a while as posting up eats into drinking time🍺🍺. God willing I shall be looking forward to another year of Airsoft and gun fun 😁 Enjoy your festiveness and I hope all your wishes come true x P.s No talking about me while I'm gone👍 Regards1 point

I’ve got that vector one. Been very happy with it (I haven’t used many though!). Solidly made, positive adjustment and holds zero sufficient for my purposes. My only problem is that on my galil it sits a little too high for me, so acquiring the dot can be slow, but that could be fixed by training. It is fine on my M4. I use it in woodland. The 5moa dot has not been a problem.1 point

Mind if I join in? I have about the same budget and new to GBB but really want to give one ago I just don’t know what to go for. I’ve been told the H&K stuff made by Umarex or WE are the same, just branded differently? Im confused as to why the MP5s are more expensive than some of rifles out there. I like the Idea of an AR style rifle but is there any good ones for about £500? I just want something that is good and will last.1 point -
Best MOA for an Red dot sight

Scope type - in fact this exact one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005368187238.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.208.30621802F13b2w Very much at the budget end of the spectrum, but works well. Mount is serviceable, but requires the nut on the quick detach arm to be manually tightened each time it is replaced onto a rifle, otherwise its sloppy.1 point -
High FPS variation
SealTeamNorm reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
Not at all? That's... very unusual. Is it (observably) applying hop? Do your local sites test using 0.2g? If they're operating in the 21st century, I'd highly encourage thinking in terms of Joules, using the weight of BB that you intent to use, and ideally with the hop dialled in to lift it.1 point -
@cojkor get some pictures up of the AEG's and let us all have a look 🙂 You'd be surprised at what can be salvaged.1 point

Unless your radio came pre-programmed on PMR446 channels (unlikely), I'd recommend when you get some spare time that that you re-programme your radios onto those licence free frequencies. Not that I am personally fussed about licences etc (and lets face it, the Baofengs don't comply with most of the other PMR446 rules) , but as the Baofengs have such a broad frequency range, there is a possibility that your signals could be interfering with other licenced frequencies that are used for somewhat safety critical operations (not the emergency services these days, but maybe e.g. hospital porters, warehouses, public transport, event security etc.). PMR 446 frequencies found in the bottom of this page if interested: https://www.radiotrader.co.uk/news/facts-about-licence-free-radios.htm#PMR446 Frequencies1 point -
Best MOA for an Red dot sight
Caj109 reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
Same for me to be fair. In fact, I've only recently embraced using a sight on my (non-DMR) AEGs at all. Until a month or so back, I'd just instinctively shoot with both eyes open, and if needs be correct and follow up with another few shots. Worked absolutely fine, but my head was turned on one memorable occasion when an enemy player and me spotted each other at the same time, at perhaps 30m. I missed with my first shot, whereas his was absolutely golden and nailed me in the face - using his red dot. Since then, I've been rather enjoying one - especially useful in woodland night games as I don't use a tracer and therefore can't walk the shots in.1 point -
Depends what you want to spend, how they look etc but both dots are smaller than a man's head at 100m, in excess of Airsoft gun range. Dot quality does matter, they can get glary from optic reflections.1 point

I just logged in to Zero One to check... My CM16 was £124.95 on the 17/09/17. The few places that have them in stock, hold them at £220-30ish according to a brief online peruse. Even with the 20% Brexit dividend that's quite mental. Having said that, I've spent far more on far worse gnus. I expect even if I'd paid today's silly money, pound per BB the G&G would be ahead on value. The challenger on price per pop would be my trusty CYMA RPK, and that has left half of it's inessential bits strewn across eastern and southern England.1 point -

Yay! congrats! If you got the Raider at a decent price, then it is indeed a fine gun - all the sites using them as rentals can't be wrong. And the Specna looks a great choice - very handsome beasty! Thanks Rogerborg, the spring wasn’t mentioned in the shop but I did see on a review that another spring is included. I’ll check which one is fitted when he gets the gun. madhouse - I’m desperately trying not to get overexcited and spend a fortune. Badgerlicious reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
Welcome back 1. As others have said, rent first to get your site membership as no matter how much you paint a 2 tone it'll get scratched and the bright colours will show through. Although if any bits of your old guns are salvageable you could always swap them around. If not then I also recommend the brands mentioned by Edcase 2. No idea about radios, sorry 3. MTP is easily available from any surplus store but if there isn't one near to you then these are the ones I usually use https://www.flecktarn.co.uk/index.php https://forcesuniformandkit.co.uk/ http://www.gbfmilitaria.com/ https://www.military1st.co.uk/ Alternatively if you're not fussed about your camos being genuine issue stuff then most airsoft shops sell copies1 point -
Destroyed is a pretty strong word. Unless a gun has been snapped into several pieces i would never consider them unsalvageable. It would be worth looking for a Tech near you to fix the guns. That won't run fowl of the VCRA as you already own them, it should be cheaper than having to rent then buy new guns and if you don't get back into airsoft you have sellable guns.1 point

Just taken delivery of the BAR, and it was so worth the 6 years wait to find one and have the money for it 😂 Sadly the stock mounting screws seem to have shitted themselves in transport so it's holding on for dear life but that seems to be common anyway. Can't wait to use it next month. * And in typical fashion, I buy an LMG and then find something else I've been after. Found the only ICS M1 Garand in stock in the UK (I believe), one left... Not any more. My bank account is going to hate me 😭1 point

Finally got the look I wanted for the l85 thanks to @gavinkempselland @MandalShArK. Bought an "Elcanish", then a small red dot. I had to re thread the holes on the mounting plate to accept something recognisable, but that wasn't a chore. Bought a kill killflash too which works better than I expected. Will do some festive fettling looking forward to the new year.1 point -
A Call for Revolution: Supercapacitors in Airsoft
Pseudotectonic reacted to Steveocee for a topic
Had a read through as "back in the day" I used to work in car audio and there was occasionally the ask for a "power cap" from some of the boy racers, they liked the LED flashing lights and display on them. Back then it was always the answer of - ok-ish if you want something very quick and wasn't too hard on the draw, otherwise if your bass note dropped low and stayed there, it was additional strain on your battery trying to supply the amp and the cap simultaneously. In the given examples, I would imagine that semi response I guess "should" be likened to a paced tight beat but I would imagine a long pull on auto would be like dropping low for a few seconds (so not advised?) Good read. Thank you.1 point -
It's fine, just let it go. The only thing I can imagine is on your original hammer the half cocked ramp had worn down a bit and this isn't the case on the new hammer and/or they were a little "rough" with your sear spring and gave it some more pressure. Either way, it'll be absolutely fine just pulling the trigger and letting the hammer go on it's own. The hammer impacts the knocker which is spring loaded, we're talking about the tiniest amount of wear/impact to the hammer ever. It'll take it a million times (well maybe not if it's Vorsk) before it breaks. Just remember - there is no firing pin, there is no "chamber" it's an airsoft toy, normal gun physics and logic don't apply as much.1 point

SealTeamNorm reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Yeah, 348fps is great on 0.20's, but once you're running a proper weight of BB (i.e 0.25 or 0.28g), there's a fair chance good ol' Joule Creep will get ya, and you'll fall appreciably, noticeably foul of a site limit.0 points -
Some one is selling a FMA Fast SF Helmet for £75 https://airsoft-forums.uk/classifieds/item/43958-fma-fast-sf-helmet-black-ml/ when you can buy it new for £49 https://www.apextacgear.com/products/copy-of-fma-ballistic-aramid-thick-and-heavy-version-helmet-acu-tb1321-tb1322 That’s a bargain (for the seller not the buyer that is 😉 Update: Looks like you would need to pay a bit of Shipping but you can still get it slightly cheaper from AliExpress.
