    Hi from France (baguette)

Hello everyone, Greetings from France, so sorry for the mistakes and the bad english. I played my first "airsoft game" 17 years ago if I remember correctly... I owned lots of replicas through years, mostly GBBr and gas powered (G&P WOC, WA M16, GHK AKM, M700 KJW, M870 Tanaka...) but had to sell them to try new things or to get money back, 2019 was a hard year with no job for example so I sold mostly all my replicas. Currently life is going a lot better and I bought news replicas during last months, including "guns" I have been looking for a long time. For example VFC M733 GBBr, Ares L1A1 SLR or VFC KAC SR-16 AEG. But my girlfriend is turning a bit angry because of all the news "guns" I am buying during a short time and storing into my office, she likes airsoft too and plays sometimes with me but she says I have too many replicas. πŸ˜… During the past I worked as a props maker / production designer, and costumes maker. I then went back to school to study traditional and digital illustration, I try to draw with a little Wacom tablett with Photoshop. So my other hobbies (beside drawing and watching movies, things lots of peoles do) includes model kits, mostly 1/72e WWII vehicles and planes, some movie / video games editing or roaming around doing silly stuff Online with friends on GTA, Minecraft, MudRunner or Garry's Mod. So yes, as you can tell, I am a nerd. I registered here because I found some very interesting replicas in the "Classified" part of the forum, that are very difficult to find in France. See you later on the forum πŸ‘‹

  3. Bonsoir et bienvenue. You are allowed a gun for each pair of shoes that your girlfriend has. That's the rule. πŸ˜‰ Is there a Milsim scene in France? Some of the continental airsoft games look on a much larger scale than we regularly have in the UK.

I can guarantee that the guarder part at Boomarms is not in stock. I have also been searching for the past month for these myself and until the very recent website update the said 'stock incoming'. It said this on many things out of stock and now suddely these have all changed. There is no longer a clear stock status and you can add it to your cart. This happened to all 'stock incoming' items. This will, in effect, be a pre order until Guarder can be bothered to run another batch. Given what I believe is low demand this could be many months.

You need regular airsoft magazines. Low/real cap, mid cap or high cap, it doesn't matter. There's loads of them available from a bunch of retailers and they're pretty cheap.

  21. My guess is because Ukara requires a payment as a physical retailer to check defence and to my knowledge only retailers (Including sites) can access the Ukara database directly - Meaning, they're wanting to set up a shop, and get the customers to essentially "chip in" so to speak on the cost to access the database.

I have set mine for 0.3g

  26. I have one of those suppressors as well and it is indeed cool. I have mine fitted on my VFC M249. I have fitted a tracer into my one by removing the front cap and replacing it with the front cap of a boneyard Spitfire tracer, then fitting an acetech brighter R (with rear cap removed and some tape to centralise the tracer unit) in the space where the spring normally sits behind the generator. With regards to the fluid, I have read that you can make your own using distilled water and vegetable glycerine, but I have yet to try it myself. (Or the same fluid for model trains/tanks should work) Used it at AWA Herts the other week, and the combination of GBB M249 and smoke generator suppressor definately drew a lot of attention Only issue I had with the website was the tracking number for my order. Initial tracking number didn't work, but I got an email with a new tracking number that did work. Within a couple of weeks of ordering, I had it in my hands, and no hassle with customs

Hi Art and welcome, I wish my French was half as good as your English ! Great selection of guns you've got there , and as another GBB fan , Gas is the way 😁 Also the answer to the question 'how many guns do you need ?' is the same as for guitars and its always 'Just one more' Love to hear more about the airsoft scene in France.

  28. I'm thinking a small drift/parallel punch (screwfix here) and a small hammer. Place the mag in a vice (don't overtighten!) and use the punch at a 45 degree angle to gently tap out the remaining valve body from the threads. Something like this:

I run a Maple Leaf MR hop in mine because it just seems to really like it (I'm usually all about the autobot rubbers), however I'm not using the bavtac patch and instead am using a slightly modified hop arm since I've had my AKM since before these things existed

  31. The lad has had one for about seven years. He does have others now, but the original is fine. I have one of similar vintage but only wear it for CQB, so quite rarely. I actually use mine to cheat loadouts when hard to get Russian gear is required too. It passes the 10 yard rule. 8Fields is better than most cheap stuff IMHO.

Welcome @Art, I'm non binary so I identify as Roast Beef 😜, you need to explain to your girlfriend that judging by your current collection, for example your L1A1, that your a man of great taste & refinement, & if she cannot understand this then she's clearly not the girl for youπŸ€” You've come to the best place for all things Airsoft, but we are also very interested in learning about the French Airsoft scene, I in particular as I'm considering a holiday/retirement home, possibly in France & have no intention of quitting Airsoft as long as I have a pulse.

  36. This. Everyone moans about how new rifs are so often "just another M4" but manufacturers know that's what will sell in high enough numbers to make it worth their while. I'd hazard a guess that of all the people who say they like whatever new non M4 rif is available, less than 10% actually buy one

  37. Ah ok, let you off - as you were trying to develop, not play the games...😜 There is lots of money on the platform. But it's bloody hard to be 'proper' successful. I'm actually flying out to San Francisco next week with my (18yr old) son for the Roblox Developers Conference - he is a legit Roblox Developer (Gameplay mechanics coding) working for one the main Roblox 'partner' firms. Took him years to get to the point where he could make anything other than pocket money from it. But he now earns nearly double my salary.....😩

  41. For his time and packaging materials. Its a advert and not a wildly unreasonable cost. When I sell something it is always boxed, wrapped in packing paper or bubble wrap and labeled. This along with the trip to PO and back can take upto an hour. If you don't like it don't comment and interfere with his sale.

  42. Badly ran, poor hit taking, bad attitude. Plus its one of the few sites that allow Licking Dogturd (Kicking Mustang) to attend (and as he lives in Essex and its in Nottinghamshire. You can tell how desperate he is). If that's an exemplar of the type of player they encourage, believe me I am saving you a lot of grief. Been there a few times, never again. Sadly yes thats gone. Awesome site.

  45. Site Name: Apocalypse Paintball and Airsoft Contact details: 01763 244855 Website Address: Apocalypse Paintball Facebook Page: Apocalypse Airsoft & Paintball | Facebook Site Address: Old N Rd, Royston SG8 5JS Desperate for a Bank Holiday Monday game and Driver Wood being a little too far for @Albiscuit we decided to go give Apocalypse Paintball and Airsoft a visit. This used to be run by RIFT Airsoft and was better known as "The Village". Not much has been written about the site since Apocalypse took back control to run the airsoft side themselves, so we were going in pretty much blind. Apocalypse Airsoft is a very small Woodland site located south of Cambridge. It is rectangular shape with a small tail where the Safe Zone and Playing Area entrance is. There is a Tower/Church Area, Village, Fort and Tyre section. All can be seen from the centre of the site. There are many buildings, only the Fort and Tower have an extra story. Only the tower has a roof. There are lots of very tall trees and lots of extra low foliage along with barricades to help create cover. The site is very flat with no real elevation. Short/Medium/Long engagement distances are in play. There were around 30+ players on the day. This site requires* the use of Bio BB's. No bangs are allowed as the site next to a Psychiatric hospital. Smoke only. Good: Chrono: A mandatory chrono was in affect and result was noted against your registered name though no guns were marked. AEG FPS limits are a 350FPS. DMR is 450 and Bolt actions are 500. Green Gas blowback pistols are not chronoed in the Winter. Safe Zone: Is a fairly small safe zone which can cater for about 50-60 players. Picnic benches that were all under cover. The Shop and confectionary stands were all inside. It was a pretty nice safe zone. Protected from the elements. Toilets were just by the entrance. Parking: A gravel track running up to the safe zone. So no long walks. Average: Clientele: The Vast majority of the clientele were experienced Airsofters. Very few rentals. Everyone appeared to be over 18 and well into their 30's. The people we spoke to were quite friendly but kept to themselves within the safe zone. People did talk to each other during the gameplay though. Game modes: We only played two game modes before going home. The first one was a small push back and flag waving game onto the Tower from the Village. Second was a more elaborate and interesting game trying to get ammo crates and box to a fort. Toilets: Two Portaloo's, they were in OK condition. Value: Β£25 for a skirmish, food not included. Bang average. Bad: Playing area: On paper, the playing area appears to be very well equipped and should play quite well, but on the day it just didn't work out. The site is just too open. There are plenty of low barricades, but not enough medium height vegetation. You can see from one end of the site to the other almost anywhere you stand. As a result it's very hard to push up on objectives without good team work and luck. The site is full auto almost all of the time and is detrimental to the playing area environment. It feels very much like just another paintball site that does Airsoft. The fort and village area is covered by stinging plants and I came away with lots of welts trying to crawl up to the objective without getting shot. It was almost perverse! There were trenches on parts of the site, but they were so shallow and surrounded by stinging plants that they were difficult to flank people in. Safety Brief: Very short, didn't cover MED for snipers (Which resulted in a bad incident where someone left early). Delivered very flat. Catered towards experienced players rather then the rentals that may have needed more instruction. Marshalling: Either Lackadaisical or non existent. One Head Marshal and two player Marshals. The Head Marshal seemed to not care that much. The player Marshals were no where to be seen; The one our side seemed determined to carry out the objective, but often went off and did his own solo thing without rallying the side together. He was never around to report things to. Complaints of non hit taking were at best not followed up or at worse laughed off. Food: Almost non existent. Sweets, Crisps and Drink. No hot foot available on site. The website mentions you can pre order food beforehand but I saw no real mechanism for this. Shop: Bio BB's and gas were for sale and precious little else. Bio only BB: I have no issue with sites being Bio only, both myself and @Albiscuit bought our BB's from the shop before playing and they were of reasonable quality. However there were ZERO spot checks as to whether people were actually using Bio BB's. The player next to use was openly using non bio bb's as can be seen from his bottle. No point in having a very staunch and visible rule if you don't plan on checking up on it and enforcing it. Turn Around Time: We didn't get many games in at all. Safety Brief was supposed to happen at 9:30AM, but didn't until gone 10. We were given a 5 minute warning to reload and get back out but waited over 20 minutes before anything happened. Hit Taking: Flipping awful. Shooting long range and see bb's pinging off of people? Good luck, because softer hits seem to be completely ignored by almost everyone. Try shooting at people running full pelt and see the BB's pinging off? Guaranteed they wont take it. Shooting someone point blank and expect them to take it? Nah, they will just bring their rifle around and shoot you in response and claim it was 50/50. The day has some of the most blatant non hit taking I have seen in Airsoft. It got so bad that we left early (I have only ever done this once before at an Airsoft Skirmish and it was @Albiscuit first time leaving early ever). Many other people were complaining about hit taking which got progressively worse as the day went on and we were certainly not the only people to leave early due to it. It was just pointless trying to carry on. The Marshal's either weren't around to complain to, or did nothing when we did. One kid was getting so frustrated he told me he was going to put in a 420 FPS spring in his Full Auto enabled rifle for the next game. Mentioned it to a Marshal who just laughed it off. Conclusion: This was the worst Airsoft Skirmish I have been to since Tactical Airsoft in Croydon 4-5 years ago. Which had almost identical issues. Hit taking is optional. Full Auto required to get anywhere and non existent Marshalling. Considering how experienced the clientele seemed to be I was surprised how bad it was (I played Ultimate Wargames in Kent two days previous to this visit where 90% of players were under the age of 18 and took almost all their hits and are an absolute credit to the hobby!). It's a real shame how it turned out. The Playing area looks good on paper but the layout just doesn't seem to work. It could be improved upon by increasing the quantity and quality of the barriers. The Stinging nettles could be cut back. The trenches need to be re-dug to be deeper. Full auto should be banned to help have a better chance at pushing up. The marshals need to be more pro-active in stamping out hit taking. So yeah... Not great! There are far better sites that you can go to. Bullpup Watch: L85 and a Tavor.

    What are you driving?

Here's mine. Its not currently got an engine in and has not had one for 9 months. Bottom end bearings went bye bye. Should be back this month. Not many people are aware of the 4 door R34s and the ones that do take a strange look on them. I personally love them. Maybe its a sign that I'm getting older but ever since I drove a B5 S4 I have been in love with 4 door saloons. The engine being out has been a bit of a blessing, although its been a boring 9 months without the car, its got some goodies going in such as forged pistons and rods, link ecu and a few other goodies.

  47. Urban Assault was my first site, i went loads of times. Great site, terrible marshalling and SUPER cliquey/boys club shit but the building to building firefights made up for all of it. Second place goes to the mall, terrible for airsoft in reality but it was so different and the people running it really put the effort in with the different game modes, always appreciated a silly one after a day of serious games (supermarket sweep!). Now it's just woodland, can't find an indoor site anyway. im bored of the woods

  48. When I did airsoft in Spain about 12 years ago, there was no such thing as an official site (at least not on the Costa del Sol). It was just a bunch of people who showed up to an area and played BB wars, as there were LOADS of abandoned urbanisations on the Costa del Sol, because they built them all without planning permission as holiday homes and stuff, but then had to stop when the authorities realised it was an illegal construction. Nobody was about to pay to demolish them, so they turned into our unofficial airsoft sites. There were a few "events" as such, I remember going to one up in the mountains near Monda and Ojen, but they were few and far between. Like, once a year or something. That said, there was a small urbanisation we played on near Mijas, but I believe it was demolished after someone slipped and fell down the stairs, cracking their head open and had to be rushed to hospital. That was the main "site" we all went to (even if I thought the one in Estepona was way better!). Have a lot of good memories from there, it was like half woodland, half urban and it was really cool. There were some dark corridors on the lower levels, multi-level firefights and even a really dark and a cramped tunnel that nobody ever used (because it was really hard to actually move in) apart from about 5 of us which could take you behind the enemy lines. Here are some low resolution photos I've dug up (hey, 1024x768 was the 1080p of 2008!)

  49. The Mall and Urban Assault. Urban Assault was just the perfect mix of buildings and open areas. Only thing that let it down was the crap marshalling. And the Mall, well if you need telling why the Mall was awesome then you aren't an airsofter
