  1. I'd (sadly) be in favour of them, since I've seen far, far too many instances of "no firing at all in the safe zone, no exceptions" being interpreted as not applying to regulars, marshals'-mates, marshals, the site owner... Which is the even sadder part, that you can mandate anything you like, but if it's not actually enforced - with penalties beyond a token yell from the site shop - then the problem people will continue to create problem situations. I just switch to more casual eyepro in "safe" zones now. 😢

  2. Not quite. He'd dry-fired gun he'd just checked into another marshal's face. Then that marshal shot him back with an "empty" gun that wasn't empty. Cocking around, in other words: it's all fun and games until someone does lose an eye. This here: As we like to say in Jockland to double confirm that we believe something: Aye. Right. Although I'm sure their accident book (if they even have one) was completely empty, until suddenly it wasn't. This is why I don't trust anyone at sites now, up to and including owners. It shouldn't be that way, but it do.

  3. Laziness or a trip down to bbgunz4u4less with the sales commentary of "bro just one more gun bro, I've got to show you bro, how cool ,bro would you look, bro? With all da guns bro, just hold this one bro." Now they have taken them to a game and discovered they are shit he wants to trade up.....and that's how they ended up on Mack's.....

  4. Here are a couple of pics... I did try mixing up a bit of black coffee and and sponging that on first, but that didn't really have any effect, so went for the paint instead. The effect is 'grittier' than just toning down the contrast of the colours, but actually it does give it more of that 'just been dragged through the battlefield' look that feels appropriate, IMO.

  6. Thereby demonstrating loudly that there are no actual consequences for it. I don't want to see people sat out of games, or invited to leave the site, but I think it's worse to have rules-that-are-more-what-you'd-call-guidelines. Either mean what you say, or don't waste everyone's time by saying it.

  7. I nearly got hit by a very close range ricochet in the safe zone at Spec Ops, an incident I mentioned a while ago. Happy to say that Carlos now shouts very loudly at anyone who dry-fires in the safe zone. But with the number of rentals fiddling with their triggers, and people on the wrong place on the good ol' Dunning-Kruger graph still thinking 'no mag = safe' then things will still go wrong and I feel better when I have some eye pro on. I have a pair of Bolle glasses which I now use for the chrono / range test, and they often stay on at other times too, if the kiddies are getting a bit hyperactive. And hey, nobody's perfect + "shit happens". Even safe, sensible people can make a mistake or slip or do something momentarily idiotic. I managed to shoot someone (out in the game zone) in the "Gentlemen's Particulars" from about a foot away because I hadn't cleared my pistol properly and managed to pull the trigger when it wasn't pointed safely. (Honestly, I was still aiming for the ground... but missed!) Poor bugger was in a lot of pain, and I'm grateful he forgave me, rather than punching me straight in the chops. I'm not saying I'm necessarily "safe and sensible", maybe I'm an idiot , but I have spent an lot of time around various firearms so I'm supposedly well trained. But that one time I messed up and I still burn with a sense of shame over it. All in all, I'd be happy to use a barrel sock in the safe zone (and indeed between the safe zone and the game area)

  8. An eminent English doctor is visiting an Edinburgh hospital. He enters a ward full of patients with no obvious sign of injury or illness He asks the first patient how he feels. The patient replies: “Fair fa your honest sonsie face, Great chieftain o the puddin race, Aboon them a ye take yer place, Painch, tripe or thairm, As langs my airm.” The Englishman is confused, so he just smiles and moves on to the next patient. The patient responds: “Some hae meat an canna eat, And some wad eat that want it, But we hae meat an we can eat, So let the Lord be thankit.” Even more confused, the eminent doctor moves on to the next patient, who immediately begins to chant: “Wee sleekit, cowerin, timrous beasty, O the panic in thy breasty, Thou needna start awa sae hastie, Wi bickering brattle.” Now seriously troubled, the eminent doctor turns to the guide and asks, “Is this a psychiatric ward?” “Nay,” replies the doctor, “This is the serious Burns unit"

  12. Barrel sock / condom - I’m not surprised that it was brought up at an airsoft & paintball site. The surprising thing would be that it’s not more common. Basic rental paintball tends to have gun racks on the way out to play, and safety keeps them out of the safe zone When you bring in own gunners then you need to keep the safe zone safe - my first experience of this was that we were required to leave ours in the staff shed (we were playing at a rental site with our own guns, mixed among the rental players) Event & tournament paintball requires barrel blocking as well as degassing etc before leaving the game area - and the standard is battle socks They are also useful for dead players - put it in the rules that the barrel blocker must be fitted when eliminated and the casually wandering sneaky player without their barrel blocked should be more obvious to challenge them Once they are known of its hard to argue against them as a safety product They come for free as standard with a new paintball gun, or around £5 or £6 to buy at retail prices

Ran mine today at AWA Herts. Got a few kills with it, though I'm still dialing in the hop so accuracy isn't perfect yet. I had a small issue in the middle of the first game where the gun decided it didn't want to work with a mag inserted, but would dry fire without a mag hapilly, so I dropped to my tippmann for game 2 then had a look at the 249 over lunch. Turned out the square block on the recoil spring was sat askew because the cross pin had worked its way to one side. Easy fix, just used a pistol mag to tap the pin central and the gun worked flawlessly all afternoon (I also gave the workings a wipe off and reapplied clean silicone gun oil and gun grease). I will be applying some loctite or similar to the pin when I strip the gun down again to hopefully prevent a repeat occurrence. Filled the box mag with an entire can of green gas and that lasted me easily 8 mags filled to 175 plus a couple of half mags (I was refilling all mags to full between games so didnt keep an exact count) I also have a smoke generator suppressor fitted to the end of the barrel that I have also fitted an acetech brighter R tracer unit into, and the combination drew a lot of admiring looks from both teams and even the marshals (I will upload some pics once I have sorted dinner and unloaded the car) Also had the adjustable nozzle arrive yesterday, so that will also be fitted at next strip down

  14. First game with my new DE M906C (thanks @RostokMcSpoons). First impressions are great. Chrono'd bang on 300FPS on 0.25g with remarkable consistency for "a chinese gun", and suddenly I have more range than I know what to do with. Clearly my 2010s-era common knowledge on airsoft brands and QC needs a big fat update!

The nozzle sticking a bit in the hop is a good thing and all pistols should do that. It shows a good seal until the reset. Many pistols I have with a hammer do the same. The hammer sits a bit out from its flush position. Other than that I can't really help. They are actually quite complex mechanisms. Make sure the reset bars work so that when you manually rack the slide the hammer stays cocked. Sometimes the sear faces get worn so things don't lock properly.

  24. You did; sadly, some do not. I had something similar happen; I plugged the battery in while the RIF was on a table in the safe zone and the mosfet failed, resulting in it going full auto. I quickly disconnected the battery and explained the situation to the site owner, who did not have the look of a very impressed chap and is not someone you would want to mess with. Once I had explained what had happened, supported by other players, he was cool about it. Sometimes, things like that happen and it is not the player's fault. On another day at the same site, a player was being a dick (thus breaking the first rule of airsoft) and let off a round in the safe zone which pinged off the wobbly tin; the owner came storming over and told him to pack his gear and leave. His mates tried to remonstrate with the owner and were told that they could also leave if they disagreed with his decision.

  35. I'd go for the SA-H22 over the Umarex offering from what I can see, especially with that price difference! An extra £180 for minor receiver differences and a different handguard? The SA-H22 has a programmable MOSFET (GATE Aster) where the listing for the Umarex version doesn't mention any programmability. I suspect it's a MOSFET that is there only to protect trigger contacts when using 11.1v LiPo and that's it. I'd assume the extra £180 they're charging is for the HK licensing they've got on the receiver. Look at the Umarex offering against the SA-H12 One. The receivers are basically the same minus the trademarks. If you dislike the handguard on the SA-H22, with the £180 saved you can easily buy a new handguard/rail and still have more than £100 left over. If I were you, go for the SA-H22 if you're choosing between the two.

  37. It all depends on what you value. At baseline, you should know that airsoft will never be anywhere near as accurate as RS shooting. The very top end of upgraded tuned spring snipers struggle to make accurate shots at 100-110 meters. For an OOTB rifle, you shouldn’t expect more than 80 meters even with the best ammo. You should also know that spring snipers are not more accurate than any other class of airsoft weapon. They all shoot 6mm plastic balls (except for some very rare, odd, irrelevant models that shoot 8mm), and so the physics are the same between every airsoft gun. Secondly, I would suggest you go over to airsoftsniperforum.com, make an account there, and ask the same question. They specialize in everything to do with long range, and someone on there has dealt with every model you’re considering. Back to what you value—pure accuracy out of the box isn’t the only factor you should consider. I’m not an expert on spring snipers, but you should be on the lookout for parts compatibility with common models (IE, TM VSR), because if anything does break or wear out you want to be able to fix it, magazine compatibility (some models feature horrible mags). And finally, since I’m running out of spring sniper information, remember that price tag does not mean quality in any way shape or form! The best all round “buy-and-don’t-touch” spring sniper (compatibility, quality, accuracy) is currently considered to be the Novritsch VSR, despite there being plenty of far more expensive options. Good luck on the journey!

Gamed mine today, what an absolute hoot ! Got some decent kills with it including one at range which surprised me, gave a speculative burst thinking it would make him keep his head down and up went the arm ! 4 mags filled to 160 lasted me a game and the box mag handled them with no issues. My god that thing holds alot of gas ! I went through a complete bottle of green today, although I ran GBB all day. The 249 came out for 2 games , then the L119 A1 and the G3 had a run .

  40. Probably going to pick up my first gbbr next weekend. Can't skirmish due to rather grim family events, so will use a bit of free time to have a tinker. Decided, I think to get an AA G36. I know it's not gonna last, but it'll give me something to take apart and fix without the stresses of screwing up something 3 times the price. I'd like to thank the forum once again for encouraging me to lighten my wallet further. Sod you all. 🤪

  41. As has been asked, is the budget you mentioned for guns alone or do you need to factor in other kit, such as eyepro/boots/vest etc. If it's just for your gun, if I personally was starting out, knowing what I now know from years of playing, I'd consider the new DE range of M4 variants, they look good, & all player reviews so far indicate good performance & features for the price. To that end, you could technically afford TWO, I would definitely recommend getting two, maybe a nice long version, backed up with a compact stubby variant, then you've always got a mag compatible backup, as well as suitable guns for woodland or cqb sites. Edit: i saw your post after typing mine, great minds think alike 👍😉

  43. The first rule of MOLLE club…. ….. we don’t talk about Molle 1. The initial design of pack did not have a waist belt. It was designed to engage into the wearers load carrying vest. The design was flawed, did not work well, was too prone to failure and resulted in back injuries. Hence MOLLE 2 A nice write up specific to MOLLE (1) and how the pack/vest integrated, or not. http://inrd.gotdns.com/alice/molle1.htm CIE hub data for MOLLE 2 https://ciehub.info/equipment/loadbearing/MOLLE2.html

Colour code the heat shrink AND reverse the +ve and -ve connectors (female / male) so you can't accidentally get them the wrong way round!!!! 45. So this sort of twattery occurs when you have too much time on your hands... turning a pallet into a backstop for my garden test shoots The cunning plan was to cut strips of an old yoga mat and suspend them from a bar to absorb the hits and ensure there aren't BB's bouncing noisily off the fence (which might annoy the neighbours). Also would stop the BB's bouncing back on to the lawn (which might annoy m'wife). You can see previous evidence of my misdemeanors in the photos Unfortunately it wasn't all that cunning... the yoga mat wasn't really big enough to provide enough strips to overlap well, so I added the camo netting doubled over, front and back (which was originally intended just for the front, just for effect). That really didn't do much except tangle up the strips and probably get in the way of them hanging straight. So BB's are going all the way through to the last layer of defence, some old under-flooring insulation (a very frangible fibreboard). Eventually they'll get through that too, given how the concentrated bursts are grouping so nicely. Any good ideas on what else I can do (cheaply!) to improve this? I could get another cheapo mat and just add extra strips, if you guys think the original plan was good enough?

    BB weights...

Curved barrels, or LRBs (Long Range Barrels) were a thing before hop up existed. Enthusiastic players would bend the last third of the barrel a few degrees in order to impart some kind of backspin. People have been debating where the BB flies in the barrel for years at this point. Over on the American forums, we actually have members working on a glass barrel project. On examination of the fluid dynamics, it seems that no proper quality airsoft BBs contact the top of the barrel or rattle around, but instead float through the barrel, closer to the top but not touching. Bore size is practically irrelevant. The people who say the BB rattles around in some bores and skids or floats in others are completely ignorant of how little the difference actually is between these barrel bores we care so much about. I will also cite that BBs rattling or skidding down a barrel produces a very distinct, noticeable sound that is lacking when you shoot your airsoft gun, even upside down. Naturally, air will push and flow around the BB due to its spherical shape. The proponents of the skid theory, where the BB rides along the top, propose that the Magnus effect forces the BB to “hop” off the hop patch and cling to the top of the barrel. However, this does not make any sense, as the Magnus effect does not become stronger than the forward velocity of the BB until long after it has left the barrel (overhop), even using extremely short barrels, which should theoretically prove this. I am not a physicist either, but having spent time both talking to people smarter than I, and researching fluid dynamics, I believe the most logical explanation is that the BB does ride closer to the top of the barrel, because of a negative pressure cushion created by the backspin (Magnus effect), but does not touch, because of air naturally flowing between the BB and the barrel and causing an opposing cushion. For some excellent practical evidence, Google Tanio Koba Twist barrels. They were airsoft barrels with rifling, tuned for 1J, that spin the air around the BB. Because they have cut grooves along the top, yet shoot normally, they prove that the BB does not ride along the top or rattle around,

  48. Take the motor and bevel in hand, and spin them together to find the optimal motor height--the easiest most proper fitment will feel right. You then need to fully close up your gearbox with the bevel in it and screw the motor grip on. From there, adjust the motor height until it reaches the height your hand test showed. Next, add very small shims beneath the bevel until there is about 0.1-0.3mm of play in the bevel gear. It's important to do all testing with the gearbox tightly screwed shut. Full contact is good. You want the bevel gear to have a hair of play between it and the pinion, but it looks like your bevel is rather low to my eyes. After you shim the bevel to pinion, you can add shims to the top until you hopefully end up with just a hair of play. The way I personally measure if I've done it right is by tilting the gearbox side to side, when screwed fully shut. If the bevel gear rotates on its own, yet has maybe 0.1mm of up and down play, I know it's right.
