  2. Hello all. Apologies in advance for being brash enough to consider this "Latest News" worthy ? I am unsure that it was a sensible decision but beyond all logic I have been voted in as the new UKAPU South East/London Rep. I have been a member of UKAPU since around the time of the Pandemic, they helped me with issues importing a RIF and I bought into a gold tier membership soon after and I have been committee "adjacent" for a little while. Most of you on the forum probably know me by now! I had taken a back seat in terms of the forum recently due to the personal circumstances (Divorce, selling all but 6 rifles etc!) But I am now back for at least a little while until I leave the UK in hopefully a year or so's time. I tend to play in London and the Kent area more these days since moving away from Dagenham and to London bridge. I am here to represent the players in the South East, to give advice about South East sites, listen to your issues, criticisms, complaints and suggestions for the future. I have only just been confirmed into the post and I haven't had the official email address setup so far, but I will update this forum post with those details when I have them. For now if you need anything you can just PM me here. Cheers!

  5. At a woodland game, during the day I announced to the team that I was going to have some fun running around with my SLR for the next session. Then a volunteer was requested & I found myself tasked with clearing and searching the cowboy & Indian western village doing almost CQB waving a full size SLR between all the tight angles

  7. I'll have to experiment with the vinyl I've got - it'll be considered 'permanent' stickiness, and it might lift the base coat off. I can buy low-tack vinyl specifically for paint masking though, £15 for a roll. This should be a fun little project though, thanks for the ideas ?

  10. Yes, I've actually already got some in the garage from when I covered my kitchen cabinet doors (too lazy to repaint them), so that's a great shout! I can print out some camo stencils or even just free-hand cut some splotchy shapes - job should then be a good 'un! I'll experiment on the M16's stock which is already ready for a repaint Edit: maybe I'll save myself from some curvy-cutting, and go for a take on the geometrical styling of Swedish M90 camo (already one of my faves)

  12. Any Special Forces worth their salt will tailor to the role but also be able to use whatever they have. Whether that’s compact weapons accompanied by flame retardant suit or vest & jeans, rag tag bunch of cut throats, all the gear with some idea, or just baguette and beret ‘Special forces’ means many things. Paras, airborne, commandos were the SF of their day. The SAS originals were named by intelligence to worry the Germans that the paras were around. My father was part of the UKs special forces in the Cold War (nuclear capable artillery) but not what would be regarded as UKSF - perfect if you are sat around the woods at a game SF do have choice in how they equip, as a unit and as individuals. Individuals need to know what they are doing to be able to self equip - passing selection and getting badged is only day 1 of their specialist training (‘Normal’ soldiers also have a degree of personalisation available to them - depending on getting it past the shouty man and / or where they are - MTP was adopted by the British Army as some infantry dyed their desert cam) …………: Eithet build your own concept themed around your choice of SF, or look for photos of specific operations / deployments (taking care to avoid posed recreation photos)

  13. As a recent experience, I thought it'd be worth mentioning. I needed an item from a store on Okinawa, which didn't ship internationally. Impulse101 offered to be a proxy service & bought it on my behalf, then shipped it to me. I believe the charge was 10% of the order value for their service. Everything arrived in perfect condition & within about a week or so. Customer service were also brilliant with communication throughout. Absolutely recommend giving them a go

  14. From the various gun guys I follow, it sounds like most of them would run a short-barreled carbine of some sort (m4a1, mk18, hk416 or some sort of AR15 derivative usually) in various tier 1 and tier 2 units (most of the guys I follow were tier 2 though, so US Army Rangers and the like). A short-barreled carbine is a versatile weapon, capable of room-clearing and also taking mid-range engagements, so while something like an mp5 would be better in CQB, it's all well and good until you leave the building and some asshole with an AK starts shooting you at 400m. Obviously you have units like the SAS running the mp5 for the Iranian embassy siege, because that sort of operation you can be confident will be entirely CQB, but for general carry I would say a short barreled carbine is the most realistic. Also, in general, rifle calibres have more ability to penetrate body armour and helmets than pistol calibres. In terms of sidearm, I think it varies and comes down to personal preference. Heard lots of stories of US units swapping out their m9s for 1911s, so in terms of sidearm it's down to personal preference. That said, I think a lot of them like various Glock models, but if you don't like that you can always go with something like a mk23, as that was specifically designed for USSOCOM, or some sort of Sig, as I believe Glocks, Sigs, Berettas, HKs and even 1911s still get used in SF units. However, there's also an element of what your role is. For example, if you're a sniper, you're likely using something like an m110 SASS or m24 SWS, which is definitely not a short-barreled carbine. If operating in a recce role, you may be using a long-barreled carbine instead like a mk12 mod 1 SPR, as you need to be able to engage out to longer distances than a short-barreled carbine is capable of. Also, you could be a support gunner in which case you're probably carrying an m240b or mk46. I think weapon choice is a wide net, since different units use different weapons and different roles also use different weapons, so there's a lot to choose from. In terms of setup, I do believe that SF operators are allowed to set up their guns however they want, though obviously I can't confirm that as I've never been one or asked one that specific question. M-LOK is currently all the rage, so if I was going to set up some sort of SF operator loadout I would probably do a short-barreled AR-15 or hk416 with an M-LOK handguard and stock of your choice, alongside a QD suppressor, something like a Surefire. Then I'd probably mount a PEQ box for laser (both visible and IR) as well as an IR illuminator, then I'd probably also mount a weapon light, since I believe the PEQ only does IR illumination and you do still want a weapon light, and some sort of front grip. In terms of sight, I'd say an Eotech for a red dot sight on a short-barreled carbine. In terms of barrel length, I think most SF units prefer 11" over 14.5" barrels, since it's more useful for room clearing and CQB and doesn't have too many negatives at long range (though obviously a 14.5" will do better at longer ranges). Somewhat depends on the theatre of war though, as if you're fighting a war in the mountains with no CQB at all then you're not going to want to bring an 11" carbine, however I think that's a rarity. Obviously this is all just my speculation on what I've read around and what I hear in the real-steel shooting world. Could be entirely off the mark, could be 100% accurate, I have no idea on its validity ?

  18. As I'm never ever ever ever ever going to sell my Double Eagle M906C, I think I might spray it. I did have a Novritsch 'leafy' gun camo cover on it, but I do prefer the gun 'naked' because ... it looks cooler when it doesn't seem to have had a bit of salad wrapped around it...? Some of you with long memories might remember I've sprayed a couple of guns before: The F2000 was a bit of a homage to my favoured camo in Battlefield 4, but to be honest whilst it was fun to do, the results aren't brilliant close-up... the green painters masking tape I used didn't always make clean edges. The M16 did come out quite well with the scrim, but unfortunately I tried to fix a couple of areas that didn't look so good, and ended up making a pig's ear of it. I'm going to start from scratch on this, maybe with the same pattern as I do for the DE. After all that I have a decent collection of camo spray paints, but I don't just to do a vanilla brown / green / black splotchy effect, and neither do I want to use the scrim net effect again - I want something a little bit bolder so that 1) it looks interesting and 2) the camo actually does break up the the outline of the gun. Y'know, camo that actually camouflages I'm therefore prepared to include a bit of white, bright green, or a bit of dark red (as I've already got those) into the pattern (sparingly though, probably) I'd prefer something I can do 'freehand' with the spray cans, rather than having to use stencils or masking tape, but for the right result I could do that. So if any of you have have some good camo jobs, please share them to give me some inspiration!

  19. Hi lads, Recently decided to bite the bullet and grab myself a SHS high torque to throw in the workhorse [for better or for worse] just to see what'd happen, considering there's a SHS high torque in my G36 and that thing's a fucking animal (although it was fully built by a very certain sweary man down in reading so it's not exactly a fair comparison) So, here it is: a fully apples-to-apples comparison between the standard, rumoured anemic motor that comes in the M917 as standard compared to the power-sucking demon that is the SHS high torque [in comparison anyway] utr45 motor comparison.mp4 Alright, no idea what happened with the video size there. I edited it for facebook sharing with our local airsoft group so my apologies. Pop it in fullscreen in the player for now I guess lol

  20. I might be remembering wrongly here but Negative Airsoft did a test where he found 9.9v LiFe batteries were more thermally efficient with only negligible performance drop vs 11.1v lipo batteries and didn't heat up the motors/motor grips nearly as much. I think his video might be worth a watch.

  22. I went to a CQB site with an SR-25 with a 3-9x50mm scope still attached and was still the one clearing corners while others on my team stood back with their SMGs and short carbines too scared to push forwards. All the gucci specialised kit is worth bugger-all if the drills aren't there too. In fairness, it's far from ideal, but it's a core ideal behind recce rifle builds, which is something I've been looking at a lot recently with my m16a4 MWS build. You can clear buildings with long barreled rifles; it's harder and you're definitely better off with a shorter rifle, but it's definitely possible with practice. I think the worst I've taken to a CQB site is a 1J bolt action rifle that I've still managed to clear corners with; at this point it's a point of pride ?

  24. I figured it out. For anyone whom stumbles across this thread in the future this was my issue and what solved it: I had put a perun v2 mosfet and 13:1 gears in the gearbox. Compression was good, as was everything else. After trying loads of hop rubbers and other things, I found only pulling on the mag towards me would fire the rif. Turns out, the 13:1 gears were too fast to pull the nozzle far enough back in order for the mag to correctly feed bbs. I swapped the gears back to the stock 18:1 and put it back together. Works perfect. Sometimes too fast gears are the problem. There might be other ways to solve this, but I can't be bothered. I'm happy with the perun upgrade.

  30. Take a closer look https://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Predator_(1987) not seen a barrel mounted GL with that trigger group, as the WIKI says I think it was a 39mm flare launcher. Also think its an A1/AR15. The first Airsoft gun I bought from long defunct Airsoft Dynamics was a TM M16A1 with a Tri Shot GL launcher. Was lovely even with the 3 part barrel. I say you should trust the beer and have at it.

This arrived today, and it’s…. Lovely. I don’t usually go for compact guns, but this I made an exception for. Western Arms Smith & Wesson Shorty .40 Sidekick. It has no safety, and is double action so fires even if not cocked, took me a little by surprise!

Fingers crossed others can make it and it becomes a regular thing, this would be a good way of introducing our eldest to airsoft. He's 12, I'm working on him letting me shoot him to prove it's no worse than paintball.

    Unspoken rules in airsoft?

One exception, I played a night game, got through the enemy lines via stealth but once I was in their harbour area I proceeded to "bimble" around like I was meant to be there, allowing me to enter their hq, open fire while pirouetting lol ?‍♀️, & end the game. But yeah, anything else is cheating unless it's specified in the game rules otherwise, kinda "brandenburger" shit etc.

  44. If they have their hand up they're dead. If they shoot me after that, and obviously haven't respawned, well done you're off for an early shower. If they're on the other team and don't have their hand in the air they're getting shot. Oh, you're already dead? Sorry, but you should have had your hand up. Your own fault.

  45. Seems we're segueing to "how to fix airsoft", so my unwritten rule is: be the person that you want to play against. You're sure you weren't hit, and you're sure you made the hit, and the other player says "You going to take that?" What to do? Argue it out? You're not going to alter what they're equally sure happened. Even if they are actually delusional, even if they're deliberately cheating, and regardless of what reality really was, right at that point, the best thing you can do is to say "Good shot, nice one!", put your hand up, and walk away. Because arguing the toss guarantees two sulky faces, over nothing, because there's no prize for "winning". When you've got the power to gift happiness, why not wield it?
    1 point
  46. Except 99% non hit takers are people that just didn't get hit. so some poor sod gets lit up because airporters can't judge distance under understand wind deflection. Like life the rule that should not need to be spoken is don't be a dick.

  47. To me that would be a reason to find another site One thing I've noticed is that the more a player shouts at others to push up, the further back they are
