A HWS M2019 is my grail rif too @Skullchewer I know someone who can get them quite easily but they're bloody expensive. And I'm not overly thrilled with the build quality of HWS. The one I was most happy with was this DH17 with a genuine singlepoint oeg and block of milled aluminium on the front that I made on a lathe.4 points

I was thinking my collection wouldn't have much that could be posted, but a bit of time on IMFDB shows I was wrong so here goes. Also I've included TV shows H&K SL8: Jurassic Park 3 Buffy the Vampire Slayer Supernatural Bionic Woman Walther P99: Resident Evil Matrix Reloaded Underworld Stargate SG-1- Sharknado (not sure it counts as sci fi but I thought I'd give it a mention) MP5K: Matrix and many others, although mine is covered in rails and had an AR style stock R870 sawn off: Universal Soldier 4 Escape from LA Dawn of the Planet of the Apes2 points -
My son and I tried Bravo Romeo for the first time a couple of weeks back. Had a cracking day. The site was well run, the terrain varied, decent gameplay and really sensible respawn rules. I have to say that, with the exception of one turbo bellend who accused me of non-hit taking, when he was shooting with all the accuracy of Michael J Fox on a rollercoaster, the other players were friendly, honest and all there to have fun. No aggro at all, standfast Marty McFuck and his no-miss BBs. Went full tigerstripe for the first time, as I usually mix and match, but was pleasantly surprised how effective it was, especially in the ferns. First run out for the Platatac Peacekeeper 5 chest rig too and it was great.2 points

@TacticalWaifu I was sure we had a tread like that at some point, although it might have been a more generic 'what would you like an Airsoft version of...' Setting the machines up to do them rather than as one offs, which is time consuming for now but faster in the long run. Have discussed doing them for the Spas 12s with more detail which will be a little more expensive but I'm sure there will be a market. It's significantly cheaper in terms of tools to make the pump channels go all the way and fill with a tab. The sheriff Spas 12 cage is made like this.2 points

I don't get the hype either. The KWA mp9 has been out for a while and is pretty nice. Mine is snappy on semi and has a solid ROF on full auto. I've swapped out the hop and barrel for the TNT retrofit kit and it's got silly range and can shoot silly weight BBs if I really wanted to, but I keep to .32s in woodland and .28s in CQB and it performs amazingly well. I also think the Vorsk is ugly and I don't trust them as I don't trust any of the Nuprol-adjacent brands. Give me a regular KWA mp9 any day.2 points

Tokyo Marui Spas metal kit (steel)
TacticalWaifu and one other reacted to Pupa2794 for a topic
Won't actually add that much weight, just a nicer feel. And shiny... Seriously, I'm going to start taking orders. Payments ect. I've got a lot of interest on the Rpf. I've waited till I've got production to a point where I'm completely confident. It's 1.2mm mild steel, I thought about Stainless and decided against purely because, well, I really want one that's a bit rusty on my build. Will be supplied as bare metal. They need the ejection window adding, I've left that to give a little leeway for adding shotguns. Very simple thing to do with a Dremel and a file. Next project is a Valmet M82 then I'll return to these for SPAS 12s. They're £180 posted in the UK. Happy to ship worldwide.2 points -
The airsoft was very good and it the atmosphere was somewhat more engaging with the vehicles at our disposal though it is a site that allows vehicles to be used in relative safety. We couldn't get the helicopter on the Saturday as we didn't get the email from the MoD. If you like souvenirs or mementos, the armband and wristbands were yours to keep and included in the ticket price. If you were looking for bargains, there were quite a few to find. There were a some very reasonably priced used AEG and GBB/GnBB RIFs and plenty of accessories. There were a few complete HPA setups but some were so pricy that you were paying for the convenience as you could have sourced the parts yourself for not much more money though you may have some long lead times on some parts. There were a few retailers for new kit also (plus boneyard RIFs), White Sphere Tactical offered a one-off deal on the Vorsk VP-X for £60. The only concerns about camping were the fact that the Show Your Rift sales were open to Joe Public and not far from camping areas so you just had to be vigilant in keeping valuables out of sight and we were warned about that early on. It was more than an hour's drive for me but absolutely worth it.2 points

It works! Had to shave down one tooth a little as the AEO had changed a smidge. Run a bit of 3000 grit over the inside of the port on new cylinder for peace of mind. Used some Teflon tape over the hop unit/barrel washer to hold it in place. Used many many 4 letter words directed at springs and I got 322FPS from an XT M95 spring, its only a 320MM barrel. Will try bigger springs & a longer barrel when it arrives.2 points -

It's the resistance rifle in the original terminator. Kyle Reese has one. I met Michael Beihn a few years ago and he's a genuinely nice bloke, a mates got a signed pulse rifle and a all of the T1 terminator guns, except he's missing the valmet. I like it. I think it's quirky. It's relatively straightforward, in that it's just some parts to stick onto an AK rather than a full build with gearbox alightment and magwells to build ect. The body, unlike lots of bullpups, will actually hide a motor of the base gun so it conducts itself well to a build. It also strips very easily, the body is actually only attached with 1 bolt and a hook. Building one properly is now within my skill set and tooling. It's also exactly sat in a weird time period of guns I really like. Civilian, rail less, but very useable. Like a TMP, Tec9, ruger mini 14, mossberg maverick ect. Does that make sense? I know it's maybe not logical, but it's what I like, and I really have fancied one for a while.1 point

Nothing specifically "from" sci-fi... just some of my more "regular" guns that've made some sci-fi appearances: SPAS-12 Ghosts of Mars, Jurassic Park, The Matrix, RoboCop, The Terminator, and a bunch of others - pretty iconic shotgun. Remington Model 870 Chappie, Elysium, Jurassic World, Terminator Salvation SV Infinity Cowboy Bebop the Movie, The Host (2013) SIG P226 Edge of Tomorrow, Terminator: Genesis, Terminator: Dark Fate, Transformers vz. 61 Skorpion Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Equilibrium, The Matrix, Resident Evil: Retribution, Snowpiercer, Virus (1999) Walther PPK Inception Vorpal Bunny Not from a movie (rather, an anime - Sword Art Online / Gun Gale Online), but I do love it ? Now as for the list of sci-fi movie guns I'd like to get... that could be a whole thread on its own ?1 point -

For what it's worth Boomarms went through a warehouse move recently, and his only other staff left after the move so it's just him trying to deal with the move with no help. Not giving him an excuse, some better communication and expectation managements with some assurance on top should be the bare minimum, but just providing some context as to why they went from decent service to absolutely terrible service seemingly overnight.1 point

Pretty sure this will just be the main piston cup (the green bit!). KWA ones tend to disintegrate if left dry. You can by a new one, or swap for an o-ring type piston head, available at Lees Precision Engineering.1 point

TR16 CRW possible upgrades
TacticalWaifu reacted to Rogers84 for a topic
Many thanks Speedbird_666, I was looking at the silent piston heads think would they reduce the noise, but noticed the cylinders started at much longer barrel lengths that what I have, I will start with the hop rubber and nub and see what it does1 point -
The barrel is difficult to tell. I would work out the other issues and make sure everything is clean and stable before judging the barrel quality. A quick polish can do wonders. DIY stabilization of the unit, hop arm, barrel, etc, will do even more. And a new hop rubber is cheaper and more cost effective than a new barrel (In general. A bad barrel will still ruin your accuracy even if everything else is great.) POM piston head - good replacement. It'll be more durable than stock if you ever want to increase your power or speed. Double seal cylinder head - nothing wrong with this, but it's worth noting that being plastic does not make a cylinder head bad in any way. The seal makes it bad or good. In fact, plastic cylinder heads actually deal with shock from the piston better and help you avoid gearbox cracking. Double seal nozzle - this seal never comes into play. Whether the nozzle is actually better or not depends on how wobbly the stock one was on the nozzle tube. In fact, many "aftermarket upgrade" nozzles will have bad tolerances with various nozzle tubes (inconsistent specs) and be worse than the stock nozzle. 4/5 cylinder - for a very detailed discussion of cylinder volume ratios, head over to Airsoft Sniper Forum and start reading the "Long Range AEGs" stickied threads. For a quick explanation, there is no "best" answer here. If your cylinder has too little volume, you'll lose power due to barrel suck (vacuum forming behind the BB). However, if the cylinder has too MUCH volume, you lose nothing--the RIF is just louder. Ideal volume also depends on weight. Heavier BBs use up more air, because they absorb more energy to achieve the same velocity. For a 320mm barrel using .20g BBs, you could get away with a cylinder smaller than 1/2. However, your stock cylinder is just fine, as it gives you extra air, allowing you to run, say, .36g without losing power. Overall, there's not much point to changing your full cylinder unless you're trying to quiet the RIF's barrel noise. This is not an exact science, and we have leeway on what voluming choices to go with, hence why most carbine length RIFs come with a 3/4 cylinder, which both sounds reasonable and allows you to run .20g-.30g from 300mm to 380mm. As a general rule, anything Evike lists as theirs under "EMG" or their other house brands is bad or overpriced for some reason or other. Even the Cyma Platinum line, while in most cases excellent, has it's share of weaknesses, and inflated prices. I actually own a similar RIF with much the same internals, except mine has performed excellently through the fire and flames. It's one of the older Dytac models without all the fancy branding and receiver design, but the meat and potatoes are the same. As this model of gearbox has been made for years, it's very possible you have a years-old gearbox in a much newer shell. Ah, gotta love airsoft QC and inconsistency. You clearly needed some replacement o-rings on the cylinder head and piston head, but as a general note, testing compression with the nozzle on is a false test. Because pressure flows in one direction, an o-ring on the nozzle only comes into play in case of a blockage on the end of the nozzle. In this case, your finger. Otherwise, nozzles without o-rings seal perfectly fine (Krytac). O-rings were introduced because of bad tolerances between nozzle tubes and the nozzle causing wobble.1 point

Rogerborg reacted to MuPPeT_ON_TouR for a topic
The M4 is EMG F4 Defence Licensed F4-15, I don't believe EMG make them but I don't know who does, does anybody? Gear box is a Dytac Ver.2 QD 8mm w/ Acetech MOSFET. The GB shell seems pretty good, but it's the first I have seen in the flesh so not sure my opinion counts for much. To be clear when I say we overpaid, we overpaid for the looks, we were not overly concerned with the performance as I think all RIF's have issues with corners getting cut. To my mind the performance can be fixed, mainly by throwing money at it, but the look of your gun can't. I just didn't want people pointing out we could have got better for the money, especially seeing as mine has issues out of the box. Performance wise they will be 100% correct, but I bought the RIF's I like the look of and was prepared to sort any issues, though I didn't think that would be on day 1. Not sure I'm ready for a shimming job yet. Will fix the air parts first so I can at least use it, then move onto the inner barrel and hop unit. Then finally look at GB and motor with an ETU, not going DSG but 16:1 or even 13:1 seems doable for me.1 point -
Sorry to hear of your troubles but its a good example of spending more doesn't always get you a better product. Yes, curious to know the make. The good news is that it should be easy enough to clean up and get back to the way it should be. Use steel wool to clean the gears of rust. (Be careful to remove and keep any shim washers) [Would be best to re-shim anyway] Use Isopropyl alcohol to clean the grease off and get some new light silicone grease. Might need a new O-ring for the piston if its old and hard. AK2M4 is a great guy and you can trust whatever he recommends.1 point

Going for the Tokyo Marui prototype look here. Mock up in 3D resin proved fruitful as I need to adjust the butt cap as it's a bit tight and the designer is an idiot and managed to design the mag release spring tension the wrong way so that it always dumps the mag instead of retaining it. These should be easy fixes. Anyone want to buy one when I'm finished?1 point -
