    Happy days...

Was watching one of Rifleman Moore's YT videos' when I had an urge to muck about with my Ares L1A1, F^*K ME... I'd totally forgotten it was an airsoft rif, I'd convinced myself it was a replica. Guess what's getting sighted in & crono'd tomorrow after work???

  4. Just got back from Japan and you were right, it's was over 30C every day, phew. As for airsoft, I didn't buy anything because I couldn't be bothered with the messing about if bringing a rid home. However, there were loads of shops and airsoft cafes to visit.

  6. I tend to use silicone grease to lightly lube seals as any liquid is more likely to travel to the working parts that you don't want getting lubricated (ie the hop rubber). Lighter oils for plastic on plastic moving parts (pistol slides for example) where the thicker nature of grease might introduce stiction.

  7. Welcome Private Military Contractors. ‘Ai Island’ the future of theme park creation “where dreams can become themes” as stated by it’s creator Prof Carl Evans the esteemed pioneer of Ai Programming and Biological Engineering who started his research in prototyping on the island of Nosy Borah, 100 nautical miles off the coast of Madagascar. In 2034 Prof Evans gained funding and investment from the giant tech firm ‘E2S Corporation’ for an undisclosed sum and the island was transformed into ‘Ai Island’ a hugely successful and popular Ai driven tourist theme park where thousands would flock and holiday enjoying realistic life like interactions with it’s fully autonomous Ai characters. With three themed zones “Fluffy Town”, “Deadstone” and “Horror Land” it was a huge success but alas in 2041 disaster struck, the immense tropical storm Typhus caused a tsunami that decimated most of the high tech buildings, maintenance plants and the infrastructure on the island with an estimated repair budget in excess of $254 Billion, not everyone made it off the island. As such, sadly the E2S Corporation never recovered from this and filed for bankruptcy later that year. ‘Ai Island’ went unmaintained and it’s assets fell into disrepair, yet this new tech still exists there, and that has gained our attention, two of our clients "BlueFusion PLC" and "LinkRed Ltd" are hiring PMC’s through our company in a bid to be the first to obtain and reverse engineer this lucrative game changing tech meant for the leisure industry. 13.00pm – 14.15pm: Arrive, and sign up for either client, have your weapons chrono tested to ensure that they are compatible to combat any Ai assets you may encounter and also any enemy combatants. 14.40pm –17.00pm: The Battle for Borah Bay You will be dropped into the wilds of Borah Bay, the south westerly peninsula of Nosy Borah Island and battle to control the bay. Our clients will expect you to capture 5 of the prominent landmarks in Borah Bay and to push all enemy combatants back into their Landing Zone in order to take full control of the peninsula. 17.00pm – 18.00pm: Break Our clients will have recognised that you have fought hard and brave in Borah Bay and as such we will airdrop food and drink supplies into the theme parks cafe for you to purchase, so get some refreshments, regenerate and prepare for the battles and combat yet to come. Whilst there, why not have some selfies with the friendly Android Ai's that will be wandering around the area. 18.00pm –21.00pm: Attack on "Ai Island" As some of you may have successfully taken Borah Bay, if you survived you may now have the upper hand and control two out of three themed zones of “Ai Island” theme park you must now hunt for any “Ai Island” tech that is probably strewn across the theme park, once you have obtained some upload it to our clients servers via the Islands communication station and they will credit your account accordingly and most generously too. INTEL BULLETIN: “Ai Island” has three themed zones within the theme park: “Fluffy Town” an area that was once full of joy and happiness where families and children could enjoy play with the wealth of oversized cuddly and fluffy Ai animals from Bunny Rabbits to Panda Bears. “Deadstone” This area is a wild west themed, desolate and uncaged town where Gunslingers and bar fights were commonplace yet all part of the Ai fantasy. “Horror Land” This zone is a different story and a place where guests could literally live inside their own horror movie and yet be safe in the knowledge that they would survive it a hero in the end. There is potential for some rogue Ai NPC’s that are considered malfunctioning and extremely dangerous still active within the theme park, these are also fitted with tech that our clients need but if you can obtain it remember our clients pay handsomely. There is also a remote possibility that there may be some trapped theme park employees still on the island, they may be able to help you in finding tech and their is a reward for their rescue too. Avoid being killed by any rogue and malfunctioning Ai NPC’s, remember you can't take wealth to the grave - try to deactivate them if possible and then steal their tech, upload it via the islands comms station, help any trapped employees, find and upload any hidden “Ai Island” tech. Register as a PMC: Register on the link below to apply as a PMC for this mission, if succesfull one of our clients will be in touch soon to recruit you. https://www.aceairsoft.co.uk/ai-island-booking.html LOCATION: Nosy Borah and "Ai Island" theme park is 100 acres of woodland and located at. 23. If you're referring to @BreadyC's keffiyeh remarks, specific meaning and history behind various pieces of headgear like that are significant and long-standing -- and while not common knowledge spread along UK shores, are absolutely in no way "revisionist bullshit" 🙄

  24. If they decide (however inaccurately) to class them as "firearm parts," the FAA will require you to declare them at check-in and put them in your hold luggage. They may ask you to complete form 4457, which is basically just declaring the airsoft bits are actually airsoft bits. Replica firearms, including those classed as toys, also have to go in checked baggage, so you've already got that down 👍 Those points aside, the best bet is to check out the actual airline(s) you're flying with - as they basically all have their own policies on carrying RIFs and such. Provided their policies are followed, you shouldn't have any trouble -- and if you're asked at this end on your return (highly unlikely) you've presumably got UKARA registration or another suitable defense to give them 😊 TL;DR: you should be fine - double check what specific policies/requirements the airline(s) you're using may have, otherwise just stick in in the hold and don't joke about guns on board

Possibly some of the Armorer Works Hi Capa's, I have UKARA and even I was tempted by one of these: https://www.defconairsoft.co.uk/product/armorer-works-custom-hi-capa-gbbp-full-blue-slide-red-barrel-aw-hx1105/ It's all subjective of course.

  27. In that case, I can't recommend the Action Army hop unit enough. I've got that, plus a modify X-range and Action Army nub and a crazy jet barrel in mine and it's amazing. For some reason my setup doesn't like Maple Leaf rubbers and sent everything, even .48s with no hop applied, straight to the moon. The X-range bucking though performs really really nicely

  28. Yep, I've got the KJW m700 and the modelworks m40 kit. The only other gas m40 i know of is the VFC but that's an a5 barrel. But there might be some like 1990's build that there's only 9 of in existence.

  32. yeah the mag is tight but it feels like it will break in after a few times using it. it's a typical AK fitment where you lock the front tab in the rock the magazinr back however the last few mm's is where it feels tight and you need to force it in until it clicks. The top cover rattles around needs bending up at the rear sight block with a pair of pliers to stop the rattling.

I don't know if people have come across this, but thought it worth noting, just in case peeps haven't. Potential purchasers are asking for pieces of paper next to the same items with the PURCHASERS name on it. It's obvious to say this, but just in case DO NOT DO THIS If anyone tried it, bring it to the mod's attention so they can be nuked.

  35. Cool story bro. Did you actually read what I posted? It was broken. Particularly the post first game use report - where the gun ran so hot it became unusable, the weird velocity issues and the trigger switch that was in self-destruct mode - all of which I have fixed. One look on the KWA Owners group will show that the stock piston is one of the most common points of failure and the first thing replaced - sometimes within a couple hours of use. Then there's the massive tappet-timing issue that will cut the power output in half as the nozzle and tappet wears. I'm glad yours is working fine. There have been plenty that haven't - right out of the box. I stand by what I've said - not recommended. At all.

  42. You see there are levels of ignorance which I think you have to make some allowance for. I am one of the ignorant. I have never heard of a Keffiyeh. I had no idea whatsoever that the patterns had any symbolism behind them, I just thought they were purely decorative (or in the case of more militaristic ones, sort-of camo) I've been educated today (thank you), but if someone sees a shemagh / Keffiyeh for sale and buys it because they like the pattern... well I certainly couldn't hold them to account for it, because it's something (to borrow a much-mocked phrase) that's "an unknown unknown" to both them and me. Back to the main topic, I've got some personal experience in the Z patch thing. I'm not sure how to, or even whether I should share, but as I'm typing I feel I might as well keep going, see what you guys think... There's a young chap who goes regularly to Spec Ops who has worn a Z patch on several occasions. The first time I saw it my blood boiled. I naturally assumed he was just being a twat, or utterly ignorant. My initial desire was to run up to him, rip it off his arm, verbally abuse him for , and generally put either, or both, of us at risk of getting thrown off the site. Instead I decided to mentally count to 10, and approach it with an opening gambit of "that's a bold thing to wear that today, I can't say I like it". He explained he's Russian, his family back in Russia support the war (presumably brainwashed by Putin etc), and his uncle is actually fighting. He made a comment about the BBC as 'Main Stream Media', fake news about the Russians etc, from which I reached the conclusion that he's in a Pro-Putin environment where they're all soaking up the propaganda. And as he's got at least one family member in the army, it'd be pretty difficult for him to go against that without alienating himself from his close relatives. I kind of put him on my "RL ignore list", but as it turned out he's a nice guy, plays airsoft the right way, didn't push the Z agenda at anyone (though I think he'd defend it when questioned, as he did to me). He became too friendly to ignore, and I've turned a blind eye to his patch, and not talked politics since. He greets me by name, gave me a slice of birthday cake (which some others had turned down - not sure if they were ostracizing him for the patch, worried the cake would have Novichok in it, or just concerned their waist-line would end up like mine... but turning down cake is not something I can do easily). I really don't know if I've dropped my moral compass by not forcefully pointing out that the error of his ways, or being the good person who sees past flaws and make allowance for circumstances. The only thing I can say for sure is I was mightily pleased when he turned up to the last skirmish without the patch, indeed he was wearing British gear I think. Maybe Carlos had had a word with him. So yeah. Slava Ukraini

  43. I distinctly wear patches which convey my own personal political reservations. I don’t understand how anyone can wear politically motivated patches or historical ones without any idea of the connotations. One of the ones which offends me badly is when people wear Keffiyehs and run around with AKs when they couldn’t even possibly relate to meaning of some of the patterns they’re wearing. They’re the kind of people who’d wear a Palestinian keffiyeh and not understand the message they’re sending regardless of where they stand on the matter. I also can’t stand any offensive Arabic patches which say things like Kafir/Infidel that shit really pisses me off because it’s normally young white CoD playing teenagers with absolutely no idea of the symbolism and struggles associated with the cause they’re imitating. All my patches are clear obvious bright left-wing patches ranging from “Anti-Capitalist Socialist Club” to a Progressive Pride Flag patch. I consciously make an effort to defy and offer some sort of counter to people who wear offensive patches and are harbouring questionable views. But ultimately if you want to wear a Gorka and rock an AK-12 I personally don’t have an issue with it until you go slapping modern Russian military symbolism on it. Much like how someone’s not going to pull up your Mauser unless you engrave a swastika into the handle or something.

  44. You called? I have an absolute raft of Russian gear, ranging from Soviet M68 to Afghan all the way through to modern Russian stuff. I was also in a Modern Russian Airsoft team 'The Bolsheviks' - this was all pre Ukraine mind. Not one bit of it has seen the light of day since the invasion. The people that wear this sort of stuff in times like this are deserving of every bit of derision. Though equally, when do we draw the line? I saw someone in a 1980s RUC kit on the internet, which personally as an Irishman I find kind edgy. I wouldn't even dream of wearing anything Nazi related not similarly would I turn up in a camo jacket, armalite and balaclava pretending to be in the IRA....its about respect at the end of the day. Historically themed kit should, in my opinion be the preserve of historically themed games, where it can be taken in its proper context.....now wheres me petrol bomb? Plus this country now has a sizeable Eastern European/Ukrainian presence which would find it distasteful...don't be a cunt at the end of the day...

  45. Interesting topic and viewpoints. A big part of our hobby is dress- up, let's face it. A bit like @Skullchewer above I'm into my spaceman patches and am definitely a walty Spartan/ODST/DoomGuy/Space Marine. I've seen all kinds of loadouts on the field, including very accurate RusFor (complete with Zs etc) and SS uniforms. None of which has offended me in the slightest. That kind of thing is not for me - I'm into my own personalised look rather than accurate impressions but that's just me. If someone wants to dress up as a "baddie" that's their bag. I'll just do my thing, they do theirs, and as long as we all play fairly and have fun that's all I care for. Must admit, I do rather like the Space Shuttle Door Gunner patch above... definitely a worthy addition to my Space Marine Beefcake shoulder armour... Eezer G

    The Ex....

Dude, don't encourage this shit, when it gets found, & it usually does, then things just get worse, she gets more reasons to keep his son from him, which might be supported by courts etc. OP, you need to work at improving your relationship with your EX, & only then slowly feeding in you & your son's mutual interests, yeah it sucks that she appears to have all the control but unfortunately that's usually the way it is, & using underhand & deceitful tactics to undermine her choices, choices that many would view as sensible, will backfire on you, & ultimately have a negative effect on your son.

  48. A quick look at the internals... Well..... the switch isn't going to last long on 11.1v - there is clear indicators of burning/arching/pitting on the trigger shuttle already after ~30mins of use. Problem is - the switch is proprietary. It'll probably be easier to source a Gate Titan than try to find a replacement KWA switch here in blighty. Great. The switch is not a complete write-off yet,so I'm going to try clean it up and fit a simple Mosfet for now. KWA should of shipped the gun with one fitted - they are not exactly expensive these days. The rest of the gearbox is fine. Gears seem tough, the shimming is a touch tight, but with the shell being so thick and less openings in it to test each gear individually, it'll be tricky to re-shim so I'll leave it as-is for now. The shell really is a chunky beast. I have no concerns about it's long term durability. There is a proprietary tappet and nozzle which is a characteristic of all KWA 2.5 guns. The Piston and Piston head are best described as mediocre so I've ordered replacements from @ak2m4 . There is so much potential for this gun - it is a few component choices short of truly excellent but ultimately penny-pinching by the manufacturer has let it down. As-is, would I recommend it? Well, if you are confident at teching your own guns, then yes, I think I do. But for a beginner player? - Good god no. And that's a real shame.
