  2. My mags have come back from Land Warrior, and with a squirt of gas in each they seem good! I have no hint as to what they did to fix 'em, so I'll give them a call on Monday because it might have been down to the grease / oil choice, or maybe they replaced a gasket or o-ring. Whatever it was, it seems to be useful info!

  3. Having seen several of King Arms 'Ultra grade' model in the 'real' at the Zero One showroom - I think would buy a Specna Flex series instead. The general fit and finish was a bit disappointing for such a well established brand.

  4. No idea on value, but you should fill the new ones up with gas to confirm they actually hold gas, as it will affect value.

  5. [Controversial Take] I've come to the conclusion over the last few years that red dots are a waste of time and just add weight in CQB. Point'n'shoot down the flat top of the receiver/rail system is much quicker - for me at least. And the speedybois. [/Controversial Take] Those Holy Warriors do look lovely though.

  6. Not the most recent purchase, as I bought it at the AI500 in wales. Picked up a Maxtact derringer as a second humiliation gun. (My first is a TM LCPII bought at last years AI500 in Rochdale) Didn't get a chance to use it in game though

  8. Played on Sunday just gone. I had six mags on me, all leak free. That is until I topped one mag up, then I could hear it starting to leak! Still I had a great day and was just about able to compete with the AEG guys with my five working mags. I decided for the final game to give my CYMA AK47 AEG a run out as we usually finish off with a very quick capture the village style game. My AK is a good gun but it really felt like a toy compared to the 416 as the lack of recoil really stood out after a day on the GBB.

  9. (As Rostock has put) There are good reasons and bad reasons to ‘upgrade’ / change parts Buying it and immediately changing half the internals ‘because the internet says so’ is a terrible reason Buying it, using it, and then changing this & that here and there to resolve an issue of why it’s ‘not quite right’ is a good reason Self education is a good reason - provided you have an alternative that works for when you screw up the one your working on

  11. Nah, that's not a thing. I mean, they may have a fancy-pants chrono that they're testing their XXXTECHS against, but that's all they're doing. And it's all you need to do as well. I take my chrono to sites and chickety-check myself before the marshals shuffle up 10 minutes late so if I ever do get bounced at that site at least I can compensate next time.

  13. Chrono readings vary even with the same make so don't try to get to the limit of fps because at a site it may read too high.

  15. Picked up my cheap-ass Eotech clone from Action Hobbies boneyard. I have to say, for £8 it is surprisingly 'not shit' 😁 It must be very bargain-basement, there are no trades or stickers or manufacturer's marks on it, and yet the reticle is as bright as my Sotac, well focused, looks alright even when viewed off-centre. Usual amount of parallax at very short range, but fine at 15m. The only thing is the glass is noticeably more tinted than the Sotac, and the overall build quality is merely 'ok'. I wouldn't trust it to hold zero, but at the stupidly low price I really don't care I might stick it on something with recoil to see how long it'll survive, just as an experiment, but it looks tidy enough I might just put it on a backup gun and forget about it

  16. What would you calibrate it against? I don't know about 'fancy' chronos, but my cheap-ass little AliBaba-special has no option to do such a thing. You can expect chrono's to disagree by a few fps, so allow for it to return a few fps lower than a site chrono, just to be safe.

  17. Yeh, I had a Lonex BO Dynamics LT595. Pretty decent. Unlike the LT595, the sportline models have a weird barrel setup - no receiver threads or 'proper' outer barrel - there's a moulded receiver extension that holds on the outer barrel via a grub screw and the rail clamps onto it. Means you are pretty much stuck with the proprietary barrel and rail system. They are also sold as Tippmann Commandos. Decent guns otherwise - I would have one.

    Best budget EOTECH clone

Holy Warrior is one of the best if not the best eotech replica. It's not budget though. Extremely chuncky compared to a T1 just make sure you don't mind that extra width and it's gonna cover more from your vision when you look through it. After having it for months I still can't decide if I like it or not. 🙃 But it looks very cool.

  20. Point shooting does work at close range, but once you get over about 10 metres (which does happen at cqb sites) you start missing on your first shot and walking them in. That turns times you have the drop on someone into a gun fight etc. If you're close enough and have a red dot, point shoot, if your further way and have a red dot, aim. Without the red dot all you can do is guestimate and walk them in. For me, red dots are all about increasing the first round hits. As for the best one available now? the holy warrior is very good for a clone and knocks all other eotech clones that I have experience with out of the park. I haven't used the sotac one. When I started airsoft I bought lots of things thinking, it doesn't matter if it doesn't have x, y or z feature as I'll never use that. I won't do an impression etc. And then later I wanted these features. The nv mode on the holy warrior is good enough. Also the screen protector that comes with it is great.

  21. Will you actually be able to dry out with a hard shell over wet stuff? It’s going to have to be pretty mad breathable to get rid of all that moisture. My Montane running waterproof claims to 20000/20000 but can’t deal with my sweating so I’m not sure any ‘breathable’ jacket would let you dry out if you were wet (rather than damp). Not very tacticool but a poncho might! Personally I’d take a buffalo mountain shirt or montane extreme over a breathable waterproof anyday. But I am a heavy sweater…

  23. I had the M16A3/M203 E&C one. I felt the externals were... Okay. But nothing special. Metal was fairly lightweight and the finish was easily scratched. I think G&P did them better if you wanted decent externals.

    If money was no object!

Well RIF wise, i already have my money no object choice (TM MWS) But for the rest which I can't afford would be a full strike industries setup. The rail, grips, buffer tube and stock aswell as all the little extras like mag release, takedown pins, fire selector etc... I do love the look of SI. Also the F4 receivers are pretty sweet.

  25. Might not be that controversial tbh, Speedbird I've not played any CQB yet, but my thinking was to use the T1/2 style sight for that when I get the chance. Looking around the sight rather than through it, to get the floating red dot, the smaller body of it is surely an advantage over the chunky eotech. But I can see 'nothing' being an alternative.. though it immediately loses some 'cool points' for the less realistic look of it. (Realism and its importance being something so subjective as to be hardly worth mentioning) Unfortunately my cheap T1 is in the process of dying. £20 (used) was too cheap, and my intended replacement is a used Vortex for £100ish with its excellent Lifetime no quibble warranty. I did at least get to try out the style of sight though, I can be sure I'll like and use a good 'un. There's a point where money is wasted, but of course personal budgets are always a factor not to be sniffed at.

  26. 5x ICS M4 owner here. Older CS4-based ICS guns have M90/95 springs and downgraded motors (to prevent over-spin) for the UK market. They were also produced in an era when many sites operated a 328fps limit so sub-300fps was the 'standard' out of the box for them. A few of mine needed spring replacements (I use XT M100 or M105 from @ak2m4 depending on barrel length) and replacement of the compression seals. A doddle with the split gearbox - there's a reason I have 5. I would also suggest replacing the Piston and Piston head at the same time - full metal rack is the way to go with these guns due to AoE - which is a 'thing' with ICS and the stock plastic pistons - AoE correction is trickier compared to a 'normal' GB due to the split design. I just throw in a full-metal rack 14 tooth piston and call it done. It would also be a good idea to pickup a few tappet plates from @HuttArmouries as they can be a bit weak on the older guns - although i haven't killed one yet. Going stock-less of a lot of fun, my CXP-15 was run like that for over a year. You can get a QD receiver end cap from Fire-Support that replaces the stock extension on the receiver (ICS-MA-86).

  27. I bought an HW clone a month or so ago Ive only run it on my ngrs so far, but shall be trying it on my gbbr next weekend Ive had cheap clones and they are actually alright The HW is crystal clear, a nice reticle with good adjustment for brightness - sometimes too bright and a distraction on its highest setting Almost zero Parallax which is a novelty to me , and really paid off last time I played It also comes with a protector, which sits inside the front of the sight making it almost invisible and without the need for anything else sitting in front on your pic rail. highly recommend by me (if that counts towards anything) 😂

  28. I started a thread asking the same thing, rocket and I agreed to disagree in the end, and I went ahead with a cheaper option than the Holy Warrior (be aware to that HW make multiple versions including cheap ones that aren't anything special) https://airsoft-forums.uk/topic/55477-any-recommendations-for-an-eotech-clone-sight-551553558/ FWIW the cheaper Sotac one I bought still seems fine, but it's not had a good shake on my GBBR or Tippmann HPA yet. Here's a pic looking through the sight. The glass isn't too tinted in my opinion Red Dot Engineering make good sight protectors, here's the one I bought https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294301338289 I've just bought a dirt cheap clone from Action Hobbies boneyard, it'll be interesting to 'compare and contrast' with that 😁

Where it all started in the mid 90's, there were more but I surrendered them all to the police after the Dunblane massacre. & Where my collection is now, replicas, props & airsoft (mainly AEG's) with room for more. Forgot I have a G36, Scar & a Glock 17 packed up for a skirmish in early June. I've also got manequins ktted out with Uniform & Pattern 58 webbing (styled as how I wore it in the TA in the early 90's), one with PLCE etc from the 2000's, one with DDPM from the 2010's & a growing collection of webbing from pattern 58 to modern day including bergens.

  32. Often find that on any given day there is about 30/40 mins missed gameplay for either late starts, slow bomb up, lethargy after lunch and general dicking about. But yes, it does always seem to be slow start and prompt finish.... I guess there is the extra bs that sites need to do after we leave for the day. Glad you had a fun day, those are the ones to be cherished.

    THE TM MWS thread

This is the problem with all aftermarket parts - quality control / part quality consistency. The main thing is theat the DP and GM nozzles are actually dimensionally correct, you may have got a lemon. I dont know why TM dont make more spares TBH, massive sales potential there.

  37. Sunday Skirmish at Gunman Tuddenham. We had not skirmished for a couple of years, and with the lad’s birthday being soon, and my promise to treat one of his mates to a game being keenly remembered, we went to today’s game. The weather was glorious, we arrived on time, and I remembered everything but my water bottle. Luckily, I always have a two litre bottle in the van… which some swine had not put back. First purchase then was six bottles of water, and three tickets at £30 a pop. I also added a bag of Geoff’s .25gs. These were £13 compared to my last couple of bags of Taiwan Gun Kilo 9s at less than a fiver! Safety briefing was long detailed and pretty funny. The youngsters laughed and seemed to stay attentive. No questions were asked at the end apart from a bit of clarification, so top marks. Game brief was concise and clear too. First question from chief marshal was to remind anyone with a medical issue to have a word pre-game. First game took place in the woodland area of the site and consisted of one team attacking two positions, both of which had a timed bomb. If armed and defended for (I think) ten minutes, the attackers won the position, if the defenders kept them from detonating, then the defenders won the position. This was a great game with the team moving up aggressively and communicating well. Radios were used to good effect and the positions were soon in the hands of armband team. We held these for the required time and were victorious in no time. Someone forgot which barrel held the bomb however and was standing too close when it went off, which hurt their tinnitus. They heard the warning shouts but assumed that they were for someone else. Totally the player’s own stupid error (I’ll try and remember next time… The game was turned around and this time, the bombs were defended with the same level of positive play that they had been attacked with, leaving both intact at close of play. What I really enjoyed was the level of sportsmanship. I heard a lot of ‘well done,’ and ‘good shot’ calls, and was on the receiving end of some great shooting. Twice I was hit by people with the first couple of BBs, no walking in or huge bursts of fire required. I shot well, getting the drop on several people despite little sleep. I thought that both games had been well played and was just warming up for some serious play when lunch was called. I seriously thought that we must have had two half hour games rather than the full sixty minutes each time. It was that fluid and fast moving. Lunch proved that you can lead a teenager to bottled water, but you can’t make it drink. ‘I’m fine with a can of Monster’ seemed a keen topic of conversation, including between me and the lad’s pal. I took a shoulder bag into the field with me full of water for the inevitable as the sun had really got out by now. The afternoon games were in the village, a group of old Second World War buildings used as accommodation by bomber crews. These are very difficult to fight around at this time of year as the foliage around them is thick and engagement ranges are extremely short in places. You need to be quick and have 360 degree vision. First we had to fight over two timers, one in the shower block, and one in a container in the open half of the site. Snipers were restricted to the open section; limited respawns for the defenders favoured the attackers. This was a seriously contested game with each side allowed use of one shield each, and the same level of gameplay achieved as in the morning. It was really enjoyable to skirmish without a hint of the silly shouty bollox that infects games occasionally. Unfortunately our team’s cooperation fell apart, and our attacks were ill supported at times, chaotic at most. We were badly beaten, gaining no time at all on the clocks. A certain amount of visible frustration did creep in for a couple of younger players, probably due to dehydration and post lunch torpor as much as anything else. At change around a couple of players were ordered to drink at risk of banishment to the carpark or somewhere, being identified by concerned friends. Looking after oneself in the heat had featured in the safety brief, and it was good to see silly sods get outed and watered well before the frustration reached a verbal level. As it was the gameplay remained excellent. I had traded with a player twice and both times we called having thought that we’d missed each other. I felt really switched on and it seemed to be a common feeling for some reason. Last game was a simple building clearance. These are classic Tudders games. Get four or five into a building and shout clear. If cleared by a marshal go to the next building, if an opposition player has hidden themselves when you call clear, then you’re all KIA. The non-banded team got off to a flying start, taking the first rows of buildings with ease, then slowing up as they got closer to the defenders positions. I got into a great position in one building, hiding in a bush and shooting in through a window at the doorway. I got a couple of attackers and was about to get a whole group as I was shot in the back by my own team, as I shouted out for them to watch their fire as we were in front of them. In airsoft, don’t bunch up, don’t hang back, keep alert, communicate, and push the flanks are about all you probably need. When you lose those, you’ve lost the game. We lost the game quite badly, but I honestly could not care less. At close of play, the marshals were amazed at the level of play, everyone sported a big grin, I had not heard one moan all day and we called it a wrap. It was only when we pulled out of the carpark that I saw the time, I thought that we could have squeezed another quick game. Then again, we had truly quit whilst ahead. To be honest, we usually avoid skirmishes as the themed games are so much better, but we had a whale of a time today. The game, gameplay and marshalling were spot on, the weather was perfect and the atmosphere was really good natured. I wished that Mrs TPH had attended. I leave her at home for the odd skirmish we go to, as any arguing, or sexist ‘banter’ or morale patches might lead to her sticking one on the offending player, but she would have loved it. As it was, no girls were in attendance. I hope that the high standard of play continues. We had a cracking day out. The G&G CM16 never missed a beat all day, although I accidently took the fucked ‘fet instead of the functioning one. Lad’s mate used my loaner CYMA AK47 which performed fuss free; the lad’s half-brother used his CYMA M4 which still performs 100% despite it being his only, and hence only used rif. The boy himself used a G&G electric recoil M4 which despite expectations has kept together as his main rif for four or five years. His CYMA AKM which was fitted with a scope for a laugh, but which did sterling work around the buildings in the afternoon, shot like a laser. We did have a few misfires due to weak mag springs; as our first purchased G&G midcaps have tired springs these days. I expect that most of us fell in love with this tomfoolery at skirmish games. It was fun to be reminded why today. My only moan is that we could have had an extra half hour or so.

  39. Actually use a gun before spending the same amount on "upgrades". Often you'll get bugger all improvements. Decent fieldcraft will beat Gucci kit. If you're going to send your gun away to a tech then do your research first. To many people call themselves a tech but don't know what they're doing. Play your way. Just because someone else wants to play a certain way doesn't mean you have to.
