  1. If it's capable of full auto at 1.5j then it wouldn't just be a wankergun, it'd be a section 5 firearm. I get where you're coming from though, the problem isn't the gun but the flesh coloured squishy bit attached to it. Unfortunately though while many sites will talk the talk about zero tolerance to cheats and cuntish behaviour, not so many actually walk the walk and deal with them, especially if the wanker in question is a regular Definitely. There are many ways to improve your game, whether it's trying out new tactics or improving your fieldcraft, without having to do upgrades to your gun I'd put the blame there on the site. The gun should've been chrono'd before being allowed onto the field. It's not about not liking to be shot but not liking to be shot more than necessary. It only takes 1 bb to get a hit so (assuming all are calling their hits) dumping 20+ shots into someone in half a second is just being a cunt.

  4. And one of my locals has sodded off "DMRs" (i.e. anything over 1.2J and not bolt action). You also have to play once with something <1.2J before being OK to use a bolt action over 1.2J - and even then, it's an "ask first". 30 RPS limit, 0.46g limit for snipers, 0.34g for everything else, 25m minimum range for auto (rather than the more typical 10 or so). https://www.playersofwar.co.uk/site-rules I am fully on board with setting limits like this, and the site is booked solid every game day so it's not harming them.

  11. Maybe cheater is the wrong word but there are definitely some who see a player with a hpa set up and automatically assume the person is going to be fiddling with the regulator or over killing. Don't get me wrong, I've met quite a few dickheads with HPA guns but I've also met HPA players who are really stand up players. Imo the stigma comes from the fact that its easier for someone to act like a cunt with hpa than an aeg as turning an allen key or spanner doesn't involve the teching skills that building a similar performing aeg does This. As with many things in life, the problems are caused by the flesh coloured squishy bit

There is no finer reason. My concern - and won't somebody think of the children! - is that stuff that's built by sensible sorts then gets sold on to fund the next project. And even if you sell to a carefully vetted vet, you can't control where it goes two or three owners down the line. I'd rather that sort of toy just didn't exist at all, lest it end up in the hands of Mr No-Full-Auto-In-Buildings-Bro.

  20. Price, for the most part. I don't use ZCI barrels anymore (all my guns have weird barrel lengths now) but when I did, they were fine, maybe not really suited for high ROF guns because of the small inner diametre (6.02 is on the edge of being too tight for me) I was one of the first to jump on the MR-Hop bandwagon and while the range increase was nice, I was (read am) getting way more consistency with Super Macarons, at the cost of a couple of metres less range than the MR. Also the MR needs a wide hop window to perform which is something you get only from a handful of barrel manufacturers unless you're confident in taking a dremel to your inner barrel. Flat hops are old technology and while they were cool at the time, nowadays they're not worth the hassle of removing material from the hop rubber compared to a €8 ML rubber. It's genuinely hard to tell. For me it's about the "softness" of people who don't like to be shot at (which kinda defies the whole point of playing Airsoft in the first place). While I may agree that being peppered by a 40 RPS gun at close range gets old fast, but it's the user who needs to be limited, not the gun. All my AEGs bar one can do well over 30 RPS with 11.1v batteries but I use them with 7.4s because I have durability in mind and a gun that runs well at silly high ROFs will wear down much less at "human" ROFs (yup, I mostly use full auto). The only form of "respect" in airsoft is to call your fucking hits.

  21. They are reasonably easily available, are a decent price and decent quality; what is not to like? Having tried both, I agree that the MR Hop gives slightly longer range; however the Macaron gives significantly better consistency at a slightly shorter range. Of the two, I will take consistency over a good range over inconsistency over a slightly greater range any day. Why bother when Maple Leaf rubbers and nubs are easily available? There are other ways of getting excellent trigger response than building a stupidly fast gun. While there are a few players in the UK who seem to delight in hurting other players (Wanking Cumstain for one), many more seem to respect other players and regard very high speed builds as being somewhat unsporting and ungentlemanly. I cannot remember when I last used full auto in a game; I also play at a couple of sites that have a 30m minimum engagement distance for full auto, Luke is a windup merchant who loves trolling and has stated that there is one inaccuracy in each of his videos; however, he is also a very good tech who builds some impressive guns and has creative approaches to solving problems. I don't agree with him on everything and his comments on the Ares L1A1 are odd; yes, it has significant issues and is a pain in the arse, but some of the things that he mentions are just not accurate in my experience. One difference that I have noticed between UK and US airsoft in general, and I have to point out that this is based solely on YouTube videos, is that some of your countrymen seem to suffer from a toxic combination of taking it far too seriously and possessing the maturity of a two year old. I would also point out that, by virtue of this being a forum, the denizens are probably not a representative cross section of the UK airsoft community. The cool kids generally do not use forums and lurk on various new fangled social media platforms. I suspect that the average age here is higher than that of UK players overall, the level of experience is greater and there is a more considered, informed and reflective approach.

The ease of HPA abuse (or let’s be a little bit fair that perhaps the player ‘innocently’ fiddles with an Allen key) …. surely the site could easily lock/tag the regulator, tape/tag any access panels to a circuit board? Because they are of course running a clear & consistent chrono and tagging process? And have management/staff who are experienced / capable of watching gameplay to spot usual/unusual ranges being achieved, the sound of appropriate/inappropriate rates of fire and also conduct valid random and where appropriate targeted in game and game entry chrono checks …… ((PS I know that I’m not experienced enough to spot these in airsoft, but in paintball my spidey senses can tingle when one players shooting sounds very different to the rest / usual play, and / or that pop-whoosh-splat/ding has a different ring to it)) Ive chronoed & velocity checked players who have been all good - just well tuned and efficient, but I’ve also caught the odd ‘rogue spike’ that’s magically occurred

    Which connectors?

XT30 is really the way to go if you were going to resolder everything. But as others have mentioned, everybody uses deans nowadays, and it's not really worth griping over... I resolder to gold-plated genuine deans ultra if I have to resolder, as the genuine deans have a lot less resistance than the basic copies.

  26. On Friday one of my mags developed a leak. I was sure it's from the valve, but that was wrong. It was a top leak due to the gasket being Factory damaged (pics from Redit as i did not make pictures of my damage but this is the same ) Nothing was helping . I assembled and disassembled the mag 100 times. Then I just picked up a different mag and changed the whole top. Surprise no leaks. Hope it helps.

  27. It's a tough one. Most experienced Airsofters knows that ARES OEM's these, and recent Negative Airsoft videos have not been complimentary at all towards Rapax. A good rule of thumb to start with would be around 60% of current retail - so that's what... around £360ish for the Gun + Mags?

This is an extremely valid reason. The one consolation is that once you get past 45 RPS parts tend to wear a lot faster, and without skillful maintenance can easily grenade themselves, since you're so close to PME. Any kind of compression jam and your gearbox goes kaput. Definitely something to think about, especially in the USA where it's not crazily uncommon to see builds pushing 60 RPS up for sale. Not that this lessens my own responsibility, but I will point out that anyone can buy a Polarstar and achieve much the same thing. Maybe not 70 RPS, but you can push 50 without real trouble. I'm not sure how prevalent HPA is in the UK, but it's very common at certain site here to see "kids" (13-16 yo wankuhs) with serious HPA setups, as I'm sure y'all know from the YouTube crap. Thankfully that doesn't go on at most fields.

    ICS G36K

No way this is ICS - they only make the 'G33' which is their weird take on the G36 to avoid the ire of the Umarex lawyers. If you take the handguard off and take a picture of the barrel underneath (where the battery goes) - it might be possible to work out the manufacturer. Also - if there is a microswitch 'click' when you pull the trigger (no battery in the gun) - that would help differentiate too. Oh - and this looks more like a G36E to me..

  35. Some sites do, at least for part of the year because it gets hard to use them and observe their MEDs. I'm not talking about CQB sites either, I know that Gunman do it at Eversley Alpha for the summer months and that's a woodland site, since the ferns grow quite high. It's entirely possible to use a 2.3J sniper rifle and be effective during the summer, but they ban them because too many people are crap at doing so. Doesn't matter to me, I run my bolt actions at 1.1J for the mostpart, because my local site doesn't have long sight lines, even during the winter. I'll run them at 2.3J if I'm going to an event away from my home site and I reckon I'll get use out of the extra power, like at AI500 last month.

There are a couple frequent players that I learn something new from almost every time I play with them. I'll camp a corner or hold down a lane, and they'll use a creative method or strategy to take me out, and then I get to copy their tactics and apply it to the next guy. 🙂 On the subject of "wankerguns" and "wankermen"... No reason to prohibit "wankerguns" as long as rules are applied. If we prohibit guns that are capable of hurting people more than others, then we should also ban anything higher than base joule limits. It wouldn't be much fun if we banned all snipers just because they're capable of hurting people more when used in violation of their MEDs. I recently put together a 70 RPS DSG that shoots at 1.5J, which is normal rifleman FPS for the USA but would be considered a DMR at many of y'all's UK sites, if not all of them. So I basically have a 70 RPS DMR, which is a wankergun by any definition. I built it to see if I could do it, and to have some fun with extreme trigger response, not to full auto people in the rear ends. I once had a fellow DSG tech comment that the only time you should hear DSG full auto at a field is in the staging area as a tech flex, and I agree with that approach. Sure you can semi-spam, but even with 70 RPS available I can't spam faster than a 20 RPS stock gun can full auto. maybe with a blade trigger setup, but who uses those outdoors? Wankermen, on the other hand... Any idiot with a stock gun can hurt someone or ruin a game shooting someone under MED, especially in the USA where guns can come pretty hot out of the box (a lot of JG rifles will do up to 1.7J OOTB). Any idiot can also have a tech build a high FPS gun and do their best Dicking Crustang impression. The best way I've found to deal with Wankermen is to simply outplay them. Most often they're not very good, and are merely hiding behind a tough persona or the ability to send waves of BBs down field. Playing smarter will net you more wins than shooting faster. If you don't like the players at a site, then leave. The point is to have fun, not to win, and if you're not having fun you're not doing any good being there. (this is a note to myself, as I can definitely get a little hotheaded and technical about rules when I feel things are unfair) Honestly the most dangerous players, in my experience, are noobs. They may be fine people, but they tend to have low awareness of rules, field respect, what you do and don't, etc. QC spring guides are also dangerous--I played with a very stupid, very innocent new player who'd put an M150 into his stock Lancer and not known he had to chronograph. We only figured out what was going on after his BBs were chipping the cinderblocks some players were hiding behind. Complete idiot. He wasn't being malicious, but he was still dangerous. And his gearbox promptly crapped itself. As expected. Problem solved. The best barrel I've found for the MR.Hop are TNT barrels. Conveniently, TNT barrels are also overpriced by a huge margin. 😂 Lambda, which are not overpriced, do fit them well though. I have a couple of Prommy barrels sitting around right now, so I could probably test that out. I'm out of town at the moment though so don't expect instant results...

  40. Yup, bloody good day! For the record @Smiling-Dutchmanis a good player! Takes his hits and plays intelligently, but with a good sense of fun. The last game was stick in the mud. They often do silly little short games like that at the end of the day, that's a good one. The one time we tried it on full auto... ouch. Thanks again for shooting me in the nipple ring 🤣 Had a personal best yesterday. In one game mode I set up in a good sniping spot with my DMR, got 6 definite kills and a few "Did I get that guy or did someome else?", with 0 deaths throughout the game, while holding an objective point. I'm sure others here have done better, but I've not managed a K/D ratio that clean before.

  42. Sunday Skirmish at Gunman Tuddenham. We had not skirmished for a couple of years, and with the lad’s birthday being soon, and my promise to treat one of his mates to a game being keenly remembered, we went to today’s game. The weather was glorious, we arrived on time, and I remembered everything but my water bottle. Luckily, I always have a two litre bottle in the van… which some swine had not put back. First purchase then was six bottles of water, and three tickets at £30 a pop. I also added a bag of Geoff’s .25gs. These were £13 compared to my last couple of bags of Taiwan Gun Kilo 9s at less than a fiver! Safety briefing was long detailed and pretty funny. The youngsters laughed and seemed to stay attentive. No questions were asked at the end apart from a bit of clarification, so top marks. Game brief was concise and clear too. First question from chief marshal was to remind anyone with a medical issue to have a word pre-game. First game took place in the woodland area of the site and consisted of one team attacking two positions, both of which had a timed bomb. If armed and defended for (I think) ten minutes, the attackers won the position, if the defenders kept them from detonating, then the defenders won the position. This was a great game with the team moving up aggressively and communicating well. Radios were used to good effect and the positions were soon in the hands of armband team. We held these for the required time and were victorious in no time. Someone forgot which barrel held the bomb however and was standing too close when it went off, which hurt their tinnitus. They heard the warning shouts but assumed that they were for someone else. Totally the player’s own stupid error (I’ll try and remember next time… The game was turned around and this time, the bombs were defended with the same level of positive play that they had been attacked with, leaving both intact at close of play. What I really enjoyed was the level of sportsmanship. I heard a lot of ‘well done,’ and ‘good shot’ calls, and was on the receiving end of some great shooting. Twice I was hit by people with the first couple of BBs, no walking in or huge bursts of fire required. I shot well, getting the drop on several people despite little sleep. I thought that both games had been well played and was just warming up for some serious play when lunch was called. I seriously thought that we must have had two half hour games rather than the full sixty minutes each time. It was that fluid and fast moving. Lunch proved that you can lead a teenager to bottled water, but you can’t make it drink. ‘I’m fine with a can of Monster’ seemed a keen topic of conversation, including between me and the lad’s pal. I took a shoulder bag into the field with me full of water for the inevitable as the sun had really got out by now. The afternoon games were in the village, a group of old Second World War buildings used as accommodation by bomber crews. These are very difficult to fight around at this time of year as the foliage around them is thick and engagement ranges are extremely short in places. You need to be quick and have 360 degree vision. First we had to fight over two timers, one in the shower block, and one in a container in the open half of the site. Snipers were restricted to the open section; limited respawns for the defenders favoured the attackers. This was a seriously contested game with each side allowed use of one shield each, and the same level of gameplay achieved as in the morning. It was really enjoyable to skirmish without a hint of the silly shouty bollox that infects games occasionally. Unfortunately our team’s cooperation fell apart, and our attacks were ill supported at times, chaotic at most. We were badly beaten, gaining no time at all on the clocks. A certain amount of visible frustration did creep in for a couple of younger players, probably due to dehydration and post lunch torpor as much as anything else. At change around a couple of players were ordered to drink at risk of banishment to the carpark or somewhere, being identified by concerned friends. Looking after oneself in the heat had featured in the safety brief, and it was good to see silly sods get outed and watered well before the frustration reached a verbal level. As it was the gameplay remained excellent. I had traded with a player twice and both times we called having thought that we’d missed each other. I felt really switched on and it seemed to be a common feeling for some reason. Last game was a simple building clearance. These are classic Tudders games. Get four or five into a building and shout clear. If cleared by a marshal go to the next building, if an opposition player has hidden themselves when you call clear, then you’re all KIA. The non-banded team got off to a flying start, taking the first rows of buildings with ease, then slowing up as they got closer to the defenders positions. I got into a great position in one building, hiding in a bush and shooting in through a window at the doorway. I got a couple of attackers and was about to get a whole group as I was shot in the back by my own team, as I shouted out for them to watch their fire as we were in front of them. In airsoft, don’t bunch up, don’t hang back, keep alert, communicate, and push the flanks are about all you probably need. When you lose those, you’ve lost the game. We lost the game quite badly, but I honestly could not care less. At close of play, the marshals were amazed at the level of play, everyone sported a big grin, I had not heard one moan all day and we called it a wrap. It was only when we pulled out of the carpark that I saw the time, I thought that we could have squeezed another quick game. Then again, we had truly quit whilst ahead. To be honest, we usually avoid skirmishes as the themed games are so much better, but we had a whale of a time today. The game, gameplay and marshalling were spot on, the weather was perfect and the atmosphere was really good natured. I wished that Mrs TPH had attended. I leave her at home for the odd skirmish we go to, as any arguing, or sexist ‘banter’ or morale patches might lead to her sticking one on the offending player, but she would have loved it. As it was, no girls were in attendance. I hope that the high standard of play continues. We had a cracking day out. The G&G CM16 never missed a beat all day, although I accidently took the fucked ‘fet instead of the functioning one. Lad’s mate used my loaner CYMA AK47 which performed fuss free; the lad’s half-brother used his CYMA M4 which still performs 100% despite it being his only, and hence only used rif. The boy himself used a G&G electric recoil M4 which despite expectations has kept together as his main rif for four or five years. His CYMA AKM which was fitted with a scope for a laugh, but which did sterling work around the buildings in the afternoon, shot like a laser. We did have a few misfires due to weak mag springs; as our first purchased G&G midcaps have tired springs these days. I expect that most of us fell in love with this tomfoolery at skirmish games. It was fun to be reminded why today. My only moan is that we could have had an extra half hour or so.

I can now see why CYMA AKs are raved about so much. Excellent quality for the price, cycles lovely and crisp and by airsoft standards accurate and consistent. Not sure how it will fit in with my generic scifi Disaster Chief/Orbital Drop Short Trooper/DoomedGuy look, but no matter. Have already nicknamed it "The Lada" in homage to its Soviet/Commie heritage. NB tactical mask

I have owned both the venom and the Fortis and in all honesty I much preferred the venom mask, I may be one of a few but I found that the Fortis' nose protection ended up giving my eye pro a big fog problem, as soon as I swapped to the venom mask it was as if I wasn't wearing any face protection at all. Both are pretty comfortable (although I run a helmet as well so I feel @GeorgePlaysAirsoft pain) you can sit the mask just right where it sits under the helmet strap and I found it to be pretty comfortable when moulded and you have worked out the placement. Admittedly they are pretty pricey but I have tried so many different variations of goggle and mask combos to get rid of fog while keeping comfort and protection in mind, and this is definitely imo the best solution. I may be lucky because I have never been shot in the nose with the venom mask on, yet I have had a fair few mouth shots and was thankful to be wearing something. If you are thinking of getting one of these masks DO NOT pay for their balaclavas, you can literally find exactly the same one on Amazon for a fiver in multiple colours, I realised this after I purchased smh
