  2. I was at Gunman Tuddenham on Sat for the night game. All in all, a good evening. Start time keeps on slipping later and later from the aimed 7pm which is bit annoying but hey. Lots of friendly fire but typical of a night game. I just wish people would use the call and response properly. Yes, if you don't reply, I will assume you are NATO scum and shoot you. Sneaking through the village and trenches is a hell of a lot of fun.

  3. Went to Ambush Activites (Botley - near southampton) for the first time yesterday. The good: - The staff were very helpful and friendly - Safezone/Toilets were decent - PA system to do the safety brief which meant everyone could hear - Super5ives have a shop on site that was pretty good - The Chrono station checks were super slick - 3 Marshals/Chronos who were using joules and recording players guns on an app. - Snipers/DMRs were evenly split between the teams at the beginning of the day - I did not hear a single complaint about hit taking (see below) The mmm..k: - Random hit checks by marshals - they were all carrying pistols and a operating a one-warning rule. Once exceeded - you are banned. - LOTs of HPA guns (Ambush was a Paintball site, air refills are readily available) but there were no problems with the HPA players at all. - One dude had a frigging pyro mortar - sent to rounds into our own team when they fell short. That was fun...🙄 The bad: - It's a Paintball site which isn't really optimal for airsoft gameplay in it's current guise. - ...which leads to primarily fall-back style games to cycle the game through the 'arenas'. - ...which also leads to some weird rules being used - 'you can shoot here but not here' etc. - One game went so badly because no one understood the rules - including some of the staff - that they decided not to reverse the game and acknowledge it was a shit show. Chatting with the site manager - she told me that they have just stopped paintball altogether as Airsoft brings in far greater numbers. Hopefully this means that they do some work to make the gamezone work better for airsoft.

  5. I think whether or not a company will make different models is down to a few factors. 1, average player age. Whilst there's quite a few of us old gits here we're certainly in the minority. Look around the safe zone at your next game and I bet most will be under 40. This links to number 2 2, what's in the media. Be it TV, film, games or even the news many of these will influence what players want. A prime example is all the tarted up John Wick pistols with the fugly stippled grips 3, development and production costs. If you have to sell x number of guns to make a profit then it makes sense financially to stick to what you know will sell. I'm sure there are many more, but these IMO are the biggest

  6. Did another game at gunman tuddenham and it seems I'm about to be a cheerleader for them again. Thoroughly impressed with the management team, ran a relatively complex game with a more advanced rule set, objective style etc and frankly they smashed it out of the park. The site has clearly invested in their terrain and made good use of the features already there. The variation of experience available has improved and consistent with what they're advertising. The game play was good, objectives well thought out and hit taking/sportsmanship very high as well. Add onto that, my little group played effectively as a team and it was about perfect.

  7. Airsoft Plantation yesterday, first time I think I've been back to a site twice within a year for.. many years. The fact it's big, big safe zone, loads of parking and no need to book; just so darn simple. It's rare that I'll know I'm 100% not working a given weekend until right before it happens. They really, really need to do a little fixing of their track and the lunch options are still very 'meh' indeed, but that's all my negatives frankly and they're not all that negative. The dozens of other things that make or break are place are all thumbs up really which explains why it gets so many people in week after week, year after year. I've encountered way too many marshals in the past with this inexplicable shouty fat-kevin-did-2-years-in-the-TA demeanor, but they have a team of just, you know.. normal nice blokes far as I could tell, when you ask about the layout etc they just politely answer like a normal human being. Props to the owner in particular, just a really solid bloke, happy and enthusiastic. Sadly had one super salty sailor that was upset I'd setup in a good n' hidden flanking defensive spot and was holding his lot back for a bit in the last game, whinged I wasn't supposed to be there after I'd been told by the owner 3 minutes earlier that place was in very much fully play, but there we go. 'Winning' your sunday skirmish really matters right?

  8. How many WE Hi Power you see at a site not many. what you see at sites are M4s, AKs Hi Capas and Glocks. People always say why don't such and such make obscure gun I like they would sell loads. the answer is they wouldn't.

Is r hop still the best

Yea I guess this is why I'm asking, I r hopped my previous rif's back when I used to play and I wasn't sure if I noticed a difference from a g&g green that I had flat hopped. When I was told I can get same results from an out of the packet option that didn't involve hassle when a patch sits wrong or needs replacing it had me curious

  14. I wonder if they still have the molds? I'll add to that Airsoft is not all Tokyo Marui make they have limited production capacity. So churn out a batch of guns that will sell or something relatively obscure ( give them some credit there recent NBB have been interesting choices)

  15. Wherabouts are you? I see you're considering Reforger, I have playted there a couple of times, it's not bad. If it's not much further from you I can highly recommend Red Alert Airsoft Newbury. Speaking of..... Back to Red Alert yesterday, for a day of silly easter games. Escort the bunny, build a bomb out of easter eggs, Buggernaught, etc... Loads of fun. The weather was excellent, lunch was good as always, and I don't think I heard a single grumble about hit taking all day. My back gave up again, so didn't play much in the afternoon, and my QRF seems to have developed a piston leak I'll need to take a look at. But overall a bloody ace day of stupidity. Added to this, we finally got the custom patches for our... well, it's not a team, just a collective of idiots who play together sometimes, The Outcasts. The Scottish division of Outcasts came down from Glasgow for the weekend and had a blast at Red Alert. James particularly enjoyed handling my Pulse Rifle (Ooer). As you can see by my headgear, the Outcasts take Airsoft super seriously. @GAMBLE @Gloombones

  16. A good day out at Special Ops again on Sunday... an unexpected trip as I had family coming over from the New York, but their plans just happened to leave the day clear for me. Yay I took my new CA Scarab for it's first outing, but when I went to chrono it I realised I'd picked up the Nuprol high-cap instead of a Lonex flash mag. Stupidly, rather than backing out of the chrono test and going back to get a Lonex mag, I pulled out the nub I was using to shim the mag well so I could fit the Nuprol in. This rendered the gun useless for the 3 Lonex mags because I had nothing to glue it back in with Anyway, that left me with Ol Faithful, and the TM AUG HC. Everyone loves the AUG I only used it for the end of the day when I'd used up the Titan battery in the DE again... but which coincided with the marshals deciding to run the games in small areas, so semi-auto only. Which doesn't play to the gun's strengths. In fact it does show a weakness in that it doesn't feel like it enjoys being spam-fired in single repeatedly, and the selector bolt is easy to nudge into a neutral position. I'll stick the DE M906 for that in future. A few of the defensive positions have been altered since the last game, some of the cover has been removed from the church and tank areas in Ping Ping, which will probably help attackers in the future. Two things of note: One of the regulars has a technically impressive HPA setup. He was complaining that someone had complained at him for getting lit up full-auto. Turns out he was shooting at 40rps. He justified it saying "just because I can afford a good gun and he can't doesn't mean I should worry about trying to use half second bursts" (conveniently ignoring he can program his trigger to fire 3 round bursts, as he'd demonstrated on a previous day) and "I could be a cunt and turn it up to 60(rps)" Well to be honest pal, you're already being a cunt at 40 rounds a second. That's the sort of attitude that gives HPA'ers a bad name. A chap showed up with an Ares L41A1 (Lee Enfield 7.62 sniper). Oh that is a thing of beauty.... I definitely want one some day. The bolt action is smooth and is the most satisfying feel of any spring rifle I've tried so far (a small sample size, admittedly). Lovely gun, but heavy. And as the owner mentioned, the stock is so beautifully finished you really wouldn't want to get it scratched or dinged by BBs, and it'll be painful when it happens. Lovely bit of kit though 😍

    What have you made?

Tweaked my two Baofeng UV5R* by removing the inner nubs from the torch/alarm and FM radio button as I am fed up of hitting them and not the PTT. I can still activate them with a pen or small screwdriver if I ever need to. PTT also got some 120grit paper added to make it easy to locate even with gloves on. Final tweak was a Larry Vickers double mag set up. Watch the Colt 723 video on Forgotten Weapons youtube channel. *yes I have a licence for them, sit down. Also stay off my frequencies 😂

JG G3 set up as a DMR firing around 430fps. Locked to semi via mosfet. Near Newcastle can drive to meet. - 6.02 ZCI Barrel - ZCI Piston Head kit - SHS High Torque motor - Perun V2 mosfet - M130 spring (I think) - Maple Leaf bucking Includes: - 3D printed wood furniture - Rifle bag - Sling - Original plastic furniture - Goetland 3-9x50 scope and weaver adapter - G3 weaver rails - 2x Lipo batteries - 2x hi-cap magazines - 1x bottle of 0.4g bbs NOT INCLUDED: - Harris bipod DOWNSIDES: - The outer barrel is slightly bent to the left (see images). This does not affect performance but obviously the BBs are going left of where the scope is centered. The inner barrel is brand new and not bent, this could be fixed by either shimming the scope to accommodate the barrel or shimming the plastic outer barrel until it is centered.

  27. A few short days ago I received a friend request on FB from a young attractive lass about 29 years old... I was curious. I wanted to know why someone that young wanted to be my fb friend. So I accepted it. Then she started sending me private messages. She was very kind. She called me handsome. She asked my age. I'm not a liar so I told her and reminded her I'm quite a bit her senior. And I let her talk a bit cause (truth be told) flattery ain't all that bad. We keep talking for a while and within a short time, she asked if we could talk about 'adult things'. I said ok. Then she replied with a face like 😉. She said 'thank you babe, you start." So I did! I told her adult things like my knees and hips were hurting. My back acts up when it is cold outside. I explained that I have crazy insomnia, I toss and turn the entire night and that I often have leg cramps, especially when I try to sleep. I mentioned the scars from multiple surgeries and the limp I have from an old injury. And of course I had to throw in the need for daily fiber supplements to prevent passing gas. Can't forget that one! I was waiting for her to answer me...She blocked me. She wanted to talk about adult things and then couldn't take the heat! I think I'm just a bit too much man for her to handle! 🫤

Strike Industries TM MWS completed(?) Might experiment with a small red dot or something, but I can't see it changing much more than that. Started in March last year! Time flies. Love how it turned out. To match, also built a Strike Industries TM G17 (decided to not go with the EMG/G&P prebuilt one in the end). Waiting on a nicer red dot to arrive, but God knows when that will be. Make quite a nice pair!

  31. Just in case anyone is considering ordering from Gunfire recently, I gave it a go and here's a breakdown of cost/timings: Gun £416.01 Mags 5x £7.44 = £37.20 Shipping £23.50 Import £108 Total: £584.70 Delivery: 21 days (Four phone calls from UPS of such poor quality that they had me questioning their legitimacy, forms exchanged two times because they sent the wrong ones, and a UPS driver that left a £500 package on my street-side front doorstep despite it requiring a signature). Relative UK retailer (Firesupport in this case) Gun £535 Mags 5x £12.54 £62.70 Delivery £11.99 Total: £609.69 Delivery: Probably 3-4 days, no import nonsense, hopefully not UPS. Is is worth it? Naaaaaaah.

  33. Multipul things. Buy the best you can afford. Don't buy anything you Don't need accessories wise (the weight adds up). Good boots with ankle support. Never cheap out on eye protection. Pistols are not necessary but if you are going to get one most cases TM are better than any metal gun. Keep your fitness up you'll be less prone to injury. Always either carry water or drink after every game. If you can afford it or have modified your primary have a back up. If you upgrade for accuracy and range you can spend stupid money for minimal improvements.

  34. Don't waste money on cheap snipers, anyway. Upgrades are often side-grades. Heavier BBs are the cheapest real upgrade. Most successful YouTubers are presenting a fictional narrative, not a documentary. The rules are more what you'd call guidelines. Play the way you'd like others to play, even and especially if your standards exceed those of the site's marshals and their mates. And meme magic is more real than Toyko Marui magic.

  36. So finished* the M733. Warhead high speed motor, G&G 16:1 gears short stroked 2 pickup/2 release, metal bushings and shimed. Lightweight piston with 14tooth metal rack and new POM head, 3/4 cylinder. XT M110 spring and radiused the gearbox shell. E&C pistol grip as the TM one was uncomfortable and screws for motor cover very lose. Macaron 50deg rubber and cylindrical hop nub with steel core from Firefly nub. Polished the brass barrel with Autosol and cleaned with Isopropyl alcohol. Shooting 0.28g Warhead ammo (its preferred food from todays tests) at 275fps plus or minus 2fps tops. 30mm square grouping at 10m. 15rps in full auto with a 7.4v block LiPo, not that I will use that often. Vortex red dot, Tacbelts minimalist sling, scout light on Magpul mount and 100mph tape to hold the switch finish off the gun. Looking forward to running it next weekend at UCAP VENDETTA. * for a given value of “finished” still looking at an E&C metal upper and lower receiver! IMG_2039.MOV
