It was £50 from a mate I am somewhat amazed that my burgeoning armoury hasn't been called out by my wife, I've literally got guns stacked in a corner, and 3 gun cases where I had none before... mostly bought since November last year I can only assume she's got a pile of recently bought shoes and handbags I don't know about. (The house overflows with shoes and bags as it is) Yeah a G&G Raider without a mosfet and a slow-ish trigger response is not going to be competitive against (wait for it... wait for it...) a Double Eagle M9xx It's a decent gun of course. I guess a lot of people who don't bother researching on forums, but get to try a G&G Raider as a rental will still buy it. Ignorance is bliss!3 points -

Site Name: RIFT The Ridge Contact details: 07751586781 Website Address: https://riftairsoft.com/ Facebook Page: RIFT Airsoft "The Ridge" Barton Le Clay | Facebook Site Address: Luton Rd, Barton-le-Clay, Bedford MK45 4LG I had put off going to airsoft recently despite having been packed ready to go for the past 4 weeks. A last minute dash to celebrate an anniversary resulted in me looking at Airsoft sites close to Dunstable for Easter Sunday. A second visit to Red 1 The School was on the cards but I did spot that RIFT Airsoft were playing The Ridge which was pretty darned close. A quick message to @Albiscuit and we got booked in. Despite doing these reviews for years, I had never visited a RIFT site, Always wanted to do COM 3 but never managed to get around to it. RIFT Airsoft have been going for years and have a knack for acquiring fairly unique sites. General consensus about the site from previous reviews: "You get a work out, but it's fun". Medium sized ex Quarry turned 4x4 Trail of which the entrance is scarily located right on the onramp to the A6 (As in you are literally about to merge onto the A6 blink and you'll miss the site entrance on the left and have to come back around from the next junction). The Ridge is a Sandy/Woodland site which has huge elevation changes around the North, North West and West sides of the site. Very steep hills which need careful footwork to navigate. Despite being promoted as a Quarry, it has lots of Bush style woodland vegetation which provides some cover and a challenge to walk through. Short/Medium/Long Engagement distances, though due to the stronger wind in the large open area long distance engagement was difficult. There are no man made structures at all. It's a pure site in that regard. The site has no permanent Airsoft event infrastructure. It is all brought in from outside in a van for the day. Good: USP: Not many sites like this in the UK. Sandpit closed down years ago, Imperium's Quarry is quite small and the one used in Kent for the RUCKUS games is almost never used (More of a "Guest" site.) The Ridge quarry is not as good or featured as the other quarry sites, but it's open more often. There is no quarry machinery etc. Just the sand and rock left over. Very glad it exists though if you want a somewhat different game day to usual. (Roll out the desert uniform!) Safety Brief: Very much a "mall" style safety brief, long, but covered everything and it was needed due to the natural dangers the site has. Shop: Pretty good shop. A large selection of low/mid tier pistols and rifles. Gear, gas and bb's. Game Modes: More complicated then your average skirmish, with multiple objectives (The pole game was quite interesting). You need to pay attention in the game brief to make sure your team win. Even if you dominate the opposing teams spawn point, they can score points if you aren't playing for the objective. Chrono: Mandatory, nothing was tagged, but everyone's rifle was noted and FPS was ticked off on a sheet. I do prefer tagging, but this is a reasonable way of doing it. (As long as people don't switch up to a different "M4". FPS limits are 350FPS for AEG, 370FPS for LMG (With MED) 450FPS for DMR and 500 FPS for BASR. Green gas pistols were not chronoed. Average: Playing Area: It's sandy, which makes it different, but with more woodland then you expect, and the woodland is where most of the play occurred. The sandy areas were "mostly" open and flat which did not encourage people to use them as anything more then a shortcut to get to the woodland. The woodland was dense, but passible to the West and North West, North was higher foliage and passable, The South East and South was more dense and mostly impassable. All woodland sections had open clay paths. throughout. Not as many brambles as you might expect for a Quarry site, but still enough to keep you looking to avoid. Value: £30 for a quarry site is perfectly fine, despite lack of features. Clientele: Appeared to be 18+, A mixture of serious and casual players. Seemed friendly enough and stayed within their friendship groups. Had a laugh with some on the way to the safe zone. Despite a zero policy on drugs there were a couple of players hotboxing in a car in carpark at lunchtime. Turn around time: Could have been shorter, but it was quite a hot day so appreciated the rest. (The walk down to the car was pretty steep as well) Food: Pork Hot Dogs cooked on-site, No veggie/non pork option, when we asked if they had an alternative they said we needed to have contacted them before hand, but I couldn't find that information on the website. There was a fair selection of Sweets, Crisps and Drink. Hit taking: Mostly good, but with a few of the usual teflon Multiglam and casual players. Frustrating at times as they wont take their hits until they hit you. The determination to kill someone before admitting to being hit before is strong to those people. Marshalling: Mostly hands off. I didn't see them get too involved in the non hit taking aspect, but they were always within shouting distance to query the game objectives, directions and current points total. All had radios. Bad: Car Park/Entrance: Rough going. The Entrance to the site is right on the entrance to the A6. You need to go slow to catch it before you run out of On Ramp. The car park is split into two, an uphill dirt track where you park on the side of the road (I recommend parking as close to the top of this) Or a largish car park at the bottom of the track though whilst level, it means you have to haul yourself down and up the hill in-between games. Safe Zone: It's basically the Car Park and Entrance. People setup out of their cars. No cover. As mentioned, the site has no permanent infrastructure. All brought in on the day. Toilets: A single Portaloo for everyone to use. It was a hot day so I didn't dare use it. Conclusion: We liked the site, it's different. We can rock up here more often then other Quarry sites. But as much as you want it to be, it doesn't give you that "Quarry experience" It seems more like a Woodland site with large open sandy/rocky bits. Going up and down the elevated areas does sap the energy and can be dangerous, but taking it nice and slow through the dense woodland bits tends to work better and require less effort. I am sure we will return as it is really quite close to London (With a car it's a doddle as it's all Motorway/A Road). Definitely a site for the more serious and experienced player. Bullpup Watch: LOADS, 2x FAMAS, L85, L86, UAR, TAVOR etc etc. Best Guess Map:1 point

Hello gents. Looking for an appraisal on the following. Dytac SLR AK74 - 336FPS on .20 ZCI 433mm Inner Barrel Guarder Clear Hop Rubber and Prommy Purple nub SHS 14 ½ piston G&G brass Cylinder Head G&G V3 Gearbox G&G Bushings SLD Piston Head S&T Aluminium Full Cylinder Lct Hop unit Perun Mosfet Sorbo SHS High Torque 16TPA Neodymium Motor. ZCI Advanced 18:1 gearset. Comes with the original box, no mag, but works fine with every mag I have tried, Midcap, HiCap, different brands etc. Comes with the Foregrips as on the photos. Currently has a CYMA Railed Dust cover installed, but will include the original Dytac Dust cover and rear sight. The Receiver is made of stamped Steel. The Bolts in the stock have been replaced with thicker German bolts which are much more sturdy then the suspect stock ones. This is a quiet sounding well shimmed AK. I can provide a firing video if required. I reckon I have used this AK maybe 4 or 5 times at a skirmish and is in good external condition.1 point

Wish I had your wisdom 30 years ago, I only 'kin married her 😭. Seriously though guys, thanks for the advice so far, yeah I knew about ducati's issues back in the 80's/90's, chocolate head studs that didn't like riding from cold etc, they were definitely meant for owners with deeper pockets when it came to servicing but I'm told this particular engine became the "go to" lump in the millennium, & this model was detuned so actually less stress than the other models that shared the poweplant. But as well as getting as much positive info on the bike model, I'm approaching it the way I do when I'm buying a rif, studying the owner as much as what he's selling, in this case he's just got the latest incarnation of the multistrada, so as a brand he's had no major issues, plus he has a very well looked after HD bobber, & a classic Honda vf750, again well looked after 👍 As for what I'm considering, it's got new mot, no advisories, New back tyre, full Duke luggage & some other bits, all of which add up to quite a lot of £. & the biggest plus, I've got the missus backing 😳, never saw that coming lol.1 point

My Tactical and Practical setup. Which one's your choice? And by practical I mean practical shooting; which makes it completely unwieldy and unpractical. Both weigh in at around 1kg💪 Olight courtesy of a fellow forum member Glock has been short-stroked with the slide stop filed back 14mm so it can still lock back when dry "brass" checks - I can't be the only one who LARPs this with an airsoft gun Added a 150mm crazyjet inner barrel on the 1911 because why not. Oh fuck, what have I done!?! I've just ordered a KWA EVE-4 ICE. Loved the look of it since it was announced last year, so when BZtactical sent me a nice newsletter email** this morning saying that they have them in stock for £245 - I couldn't resist. My missus is gonna kill me. Expect a load of classified ads shortly to pay for the damned thing...anybody want a pair of genuine Peltor Comtac XPs? **the email also had the new pricing for G&G Raiders - £210-£220!! Not BZ's fault - G&G announced a price hike recently, but they are pricing themselves out of the market methinks. @Mr. No_Face Does this make me one of the cool kids now?......probably not.... 🤪1 point -
Absolute bare minimum? Glue the rail back down and get a proper receiver pin for the back end. Then power it up and see if it still functions Hop unit is buggered, to replace it with something half decent will need a new lower receiver as well as an upper (they usually come as a set anyway) or if you just want to resurrect it "as is" I probably have one of the old plastic ones kicking about somewhere. I may even still have a plastic receiver set.1 point

Why is nobody (paper included) mentioning the kid who actually shot the bb gun at other pupils? What was his punishment? Yes, this kid was stupid for a multitude of reasons, 1) having the gun on him in a public place that is not an airsoft site/somewhere it would be reasonable to be carrying a bb gun and 2) for giving it to someone else to use. The kid who actually shot other pupils should also be excluded, ignorance is not a defence for doing something stupid.1 point

I thought it was going to look stubby and weird, but I like how it turned out; Had to file away parts of the stock though because the Action Army outer barrel is chonk. Need to set it up properly, but initial chrono tests (which admittedly are limited) I am able to set it up to be 2.3J or less on 144a, which I couldn't do with the stock 630mm barrel because joule creep was hell. 510mm barrel is letting me run .48s through it at legal limits and it's basically as quiet as my HPA VSR with that suppressor on the end. Won't be using it too much in the near future because my local site will be awful for 30m MEDs until October, so got plenty of time for tweaking1 point

Ear pro for CQB
John_W reacted to Floperator for a topic
If you're an indoor site and allow pyro then you'd have to be mad not to mandate ear pro. It's a massive lawsuit waiting to happen IMO. I have hearing loss (no tinnitus thank god) due to a combination of congenital issues, shotguns and drum + bass, and it's no fucking joke. Like to chat with some friends while you have a little light music playing? Not anymore you don't. Enjoy asking everyone to repeat themselves for the rest of your life.1 point -
One of these fellows. I have no idea about pistols, I think it's some sort of Colt Python .357" Magnum PI inspired thing. I bought it because, well, I don't have a revolver, and I might want to use it in Very Hard Mode in Very CQB. Out of the box: Quality is mixed. The outer barrel is metal, and there are metal weights under the grips, giving it some nice heft. The frame is a decent solid plastic, I don't have any robustness concerns there. However, the grips are a cheap feeling hard plastic, there are too few points of contact with the frame, and too much free play in both the grips and the weights under them. No big drama, I've packed it with tape. The mechanism feels OK. The plastic cylinder is solid enough and the shells are metal. When flipped out, the hinge feels fairly robust, but I doubt you'll be doing that much, if ever, should you be inclined to field it - read on for why. The inner barrel and nozzle that keys into the shells is sprung to press it back and engage solidly, without making closing or rotating the cylinder too onerous. Initial range shooting: A disappointing and inconsistent 0.3 - 0.5J with either 0.2g or 0.25g on ASG ULTRAIR green gas at 15C - the minimum recommended temperature. The note in the box from Bullseye claimed 242fps on 0.2g (0.54J) with Swiss Arms 130psi gas at 14C. The energy inconsistency is reflected in shooting inconsistency too. It's 90% accurate, 60% of the time, but there are a lot of wild fliers. The rear sight adjusts for uppy-downy and sidey-sidey, although that's somewhat of a gimmick given the inconsistency. Some sellers claim there's a fixed hop. Nope, nothing, you'll need to lob beyond point-blank ranges. It's gas efficient and I put about 80 shots through it without refilling (or needing to). Bad Influence Airsoft tested its HG-133 sibling and saw 150 shots out of it. After investigation: On disassembly (careful now, the 4 screws are in 3 different sizes), it turns out that the gas is routed from the reservoir and valve up a channel on the inside of the frame, sealed by o-rings at top and bottom. They were essentially unlubed, and the frame side needs to be screwed on as securely as possible without stripping out the plastic in order to get a good seal. I've silicone lubed the seals now, or you could alternatively just spooge as much silicone as you like into the nozzle that feeds into the back of the shells - there's no hop to contaminate, so go wild. The excess will get blown out. Another issue is that the cylinder is rotated by a bar attached to the trigger. Cocking the hammer pulls the trigger partially back and raises the bar, but not quite enough to completely rotate the cylinder. Only when the trigger is pulled does it complete the last of the rotation and line up the shell, and it seems that it can still be slightly misaligned when it spurts. Cocking the hammer and then giving the cylinder a tiny nudge to get it fully aligned before pulling the trigger seems to help. Since the most effective way to use is pre-cocked, this isn't as onerous as it sounds. With it lubed and the cylinder aligned, I am now actually seeing the advertised 0.6 - 0.7J out of it. It's still not super-consistent and the lack of hop means it's still a short ranged plinker at best. Loading: Yes, the shells come out, and the shell extractor works well enough. There are no spares though, so doing so is fraught with hazards. At about £10-11 for another 6 shells, reloading via shells will get expensive, and you'll doubtless lose them as fast as you buy them if you actually try reloading in-game. However, it turns out that you don't have to. Just point the gun up at your face, and drop a BB into the front of each shellazine as you rotate the cylinder. You can press them in individually with a finger, but you don't even have to do that. Fill two, rotate, fill two, rotate, fill two, then do another complete rotation and the nozzle will push each BB back to exactly where they need to be. With practice, you can reload this thing in-game that way, and quicker than fumbling around with shells. So I reckon that if you actually want to skirmish with it, you'll never bother to actually open the cylinder. [Update] Play: The real effective range against a fully exposed target is maybe 40 feet. To be fair, HFC do list the range as effective/maximum 37/48 ft which is surprisingly realistic, although it lies about the hop and magazine so I suspect it's from the wrong gun or just random text. So is it useless? Well, no, not quite, and the most memorable kills I got with it were point-blanking folk in a killhouse. With the hammer cocked, you can get an effective close range shot off. However, the double-action trigger is so heavy that you're unlikely to get a second. This wasn't a problem in practice given the intensity of the action, and surprisingly, neither was the capacity. Most hits were trade-offs, I never lived live long enough to get through 6 chambers, and it can be reloaded on the way back to respawn. It's daft to try and use it versus just about anything else, but this is a daft hobby, and I had fun with it in that specific situation. tl;dr summary: It's a working revolver, it shoots BBs about as far as a cheap springer or (unhopped) AEP, and you can just about skirmish it. For £53 plus postage, I'm happy enough with it, although (e.g.) an AA R17 can be had for much the same money and will outshoot it all day long.1 point

Site Name: Skirmish Wycombe Contact details: 01494 578077 Website Address: https://skirmishwycombeairsoft.com Facebook Page: Skirmish Wycombe Airsoft | Facebook Site Address: Fryers Farm Lane, High Wycombe HP14 3NP The last true long standing site close to London that I had never been to. @Albiscuit and I were going to go to Red 1 Oblivion, which fell through so decided to dust off the old reviews and give Skirmish Wycombe a visit. We attended on 30/01/2022. Skirmish Wycombe are usually fully booked and run every week switching between Saturdays and Sundays. It's a paintball site which is also used for Airsoft. It's a fairly long running site. Small Woodland site which has nice variation with regards to elevation with a valley running through a third of the site and elevated precipice above it. Short/Medium/Long range engagement distances. Foliage is both low and high but hardly any at head height so there is enough visibility for bolt action users and not so great for the taller person. There are plenty of earthworks and man made structures (None of which are particularly complex and only one small elevated building.) Good: Playing Area: It is quite a small site but it's nice and varied, despite being a paintball site first, the zones are opened up nicely and run into each-other for Airsoft ranges. As explained before there are lots of manmade buildings and earthworks, though maybe something a bit more elaborate could make this a truly excellent. Turn around time: Pretty short, you certainly get your moneys worth, they get lots of games in. Safe Zone: Small area, though it looks like it could be expanding soon, everything is covered and was big enough for the small crowd that attended. Park bench style seating and tables. Digital signage for the food stall, Battery charging available. It was good overall, but it did feel a little "tired", could do with some sprucing up. Safety Brief: Short and sweet. Covered most things. Food: Pulled pork with BBQ sauce and for us non pork/veggies, freshly cut Mediterranean vegetables with Mac and Cheese. It was stonkingly good food for an airsoft site, and is included with the £30 entry fee. Seems to be cooked on site. The tuck shop had digital boards with the prices on, they do freshly made milkshakes (Shakeway style made with different sweets etc) Had what appeared to be syrup style fizzy drink dispensers. So for Food and Drink, this site is first class. All the more impressive that it's in-house. No food trucks here. Shop: Really good shop! A large and wide selection of RIFs and pistols. They had an LCT Val, WE Makarov, G&G GK5C, F2000's. Really interesting selection. Prices are high like at most on-site shops. But not many places have this breadth of selection. Game Modes: Mostly simple, but effective, usual domination/zombie/4 way round robin games. Have a nice looking bomb setup. Average: Value: £30 is quite a lot to ask for when the site is pretty small, but the food and turn around time does make up for it. Clientele: Very young, lots of rentals and new people to the sport with very few older gents. They were friendly enough, but behaviour in the field was very suspect. Toilets: In an elevated shack in the car park, not an ideal position. It has real porcelain which is usually a good rating by default, but they were a little dirty and stank quite badly! I think the waste is stored underneath and removed periodically. Car Park/Entrance: Small mud car park, sign posted at the entrance but you need to follow signs for Fryers Farm thereafter and not mistakenly come off the other junctions within. Car Park is nearly right at the end of the main track after you see a gate that says "Staff only". It hadn't rained much recently, but I can imagine it getting slippery up to the nearby elevated safe zone. Chrono: Mandatory and everything was tagged. Usual 350 FPS for AEGs, shotguns and pistols. 450 for DMR and 500 for BASR. Would get a "Good" but Al overheard a marshal ask another marshal "This guys rifle is shooting over 350 on one chrono and 320 on another, what should I do?" "Go by the reading that lets them play". They also required me to chrono by .2's so they do not account for joule creep on heavier ammo. Bad: Hit taking: This was the massive bugbear of the day. In the morning there were some poor hit takers, mostly from frustrated players who couldn't break through enemy lines. We really enjoyed the mornings games despite this and were glad to carry on without grumbling. I made a prophetic comment at lunch (As long as the hit taking doesn't get any worse, I would consider this site fantastic, we'll see what happens!) The Afternoon was a complete shitshow for all three games. Two almost whole site games fighting over a single objective, there were about 4-5 grey hooded rentals, none of which would take their hits, you could see bb's pinging off them, they held important buildings which overlooked the main objective and wouldn't budge. I went up to one at the end of a game and said how well they held up and if they died at all? "Nah mate". It was almost comical how it was the grey hooded players that didn't take hits. It was a classic stereotype. On my own side there were other hooded rentals who would get shot, take the hit and instead of walking back to spawn 3 minutes away, would go behind a hedge and spawn straight back in. I had to exclaim to many rentals on my side that dead men don't talk as they kept trying to relay information to me about enemy whereabouts after they had been shot or asking me where I was shot from when I was walking back to spawn. Marshalling: I was tempted to put this in "Average", there are a number of marshal's, but only one appeared to have any experience or clout, and was looked to for advice by the others on a consistent basis. Considering how many people were complaining about how bad the hit taking was, I didn't see anyone get spoken to, no test shooting and no shadowing of suspect people. CEASEFIRE: In the afternoon games ceasefire was called no less then 6 times in two half hour games. Unsure as to why, some people say it was because people were walking on a footpath nearby. This needs to be sorted with maybe a proper fence etc as it killed the flow of the game (And many people would sneakily move up and into better positions from where they were when the ceasefire was called). Conclusion: A really difficult one, we really like the site and we will come back to see what happens playing against different people. The morning was excellent and was great gameplay but the inaction over hit taking really killed the Afternoon for us to the point that we left slightly early deflated. It goes to say, there were roughly just as many rentals as there were experienced players. We liked the informal atmosphere and the on-site facilities were great. They limit numbers as the site is rather small and the numbers were about right. I'd like to come back and see what it looks like with summer foliage. The Marshalling team need to be far more pro-active/confident in dealing and directing players, maybe some more experience would be a good idea. Bullpup Watch: T97, an Aug of some description. Went here for the third time today. Have had one good day here, and one BLEH! The bleh day was marred by a lot of people not taking their hits. Today I was going alone, last minute, and it's 15 minutes from my front door, so what the hell. Great day, everyone called their shots and great teamwork. So it's a bit hit and miss this site.1 point -
Despite the obvious flaws I had a great day, the rentals were easy to shoot, granted some were invincible but I felt like I was in the special forces racking up the kills 😂 I would prefer some more marshals if there are going to be that many rentals I prefer other sites but it’s defo not one to avoid. Would happily go back if we found other places were booked or not open And honourable mention to the safe zone. The food and coffee shop selection was great. The shop had everything you could want or need too. Just the toilets hat let it down1 point
